Huzzie: Good mawni peeps,precisely 12weeks now of submission and another week of Opportunity. I intent visiting CDHC ds week, but what I don't know is if I would be attended to since I used an Agent,if eventually I get to CDHC how would I go about it. Whosoever has any knowledge on this should please enlighten me. Cheers.

KayCe used an agent too and he was attended to. I think u will be fine. Just tell d security people you wanna enquire bout the status of ur application.. they will give u a lil form to fill.. mostly details u know like dob n d likes.. also ur passport number and application number..
hopefully after a while they will get back to u or someone will call ur phone from inside to update u

i just checked and it looks pretty straight.. try start from here http://www.mun.ca/programs/ and select your program.. i see they also have a live chat, you might wanna ask for help if you lost.. plus when u choose your program, emailing the specific program coordinator will help u plenty if u need any..

rockar: abeg is it compulsory to pay for accomodation if cdhc directs u to do? because how can one pay for accomodation u have not seen? im just curious. cos one may decide to live with a friend when one gets there. what does one do if cdhc directs someone to pay for accomodation, but u wanna stay with a friend and u dont even want cdhc to know? anything one could say or is everybody paying for accomodation ?

in such a case, you can try pay for one month, or at least pay one month school accommodation fee into ur student account (since u can withdraw that later), and write a note that you prefer to stay off campus but you have paid for the first month in school while you inspect the off campus accommodation.. something like that..
note dt you will most likely need to include proof that you actually have the funds (printout of current bank balance on d internet banking page worked for me).
what i just described is exactly what i did, and it worked for me.

dintexventures2: pls why there are some variations in my monthly salary is this,the company pay upfront every six months and when you subtract it from 350k you will get 250k.And also my wife earn 155k although 180k in the payslip but when you minus some fractions you will land at 155k.Just realised that.I am as sincere as ever.I really thank you for calling for such observations it shows some sharp and intelligent guys are here ready to help.

please i want canada's conference and not uk.Both the company has two options-canada and uk and both do exactly same conference on electricals.
Apart from the mentioned documents kenny mentioned,is there any other document they will ask.My company deducts my tax directly before lumping the rest into my account.so to be honest they have not given us any tax clearance certificate since i joined the company.

doesnt matter u have or haven't travelled before..: the conference documents indicating the date/duration..your invitation to attend the conference.. your company letter indicating they are sponsoring the trip, and they are expecting u back in so so date (for this, they would most likely require company statement of account and tax clearance tho) ..your employment letter and payslip..
maybe some of ur wife's stuff too for added effect..like payslip and employment letter so they know u have a family u r coming back too..

my opinion..someone else might have better idea(s)

what did u submit in the online app before? think u should submit original of whatever u submitted there..

edit: plus what @earthgreener said..tho still think since they are basing ur application on the soft copies u already submitted..you should still represent ur GCE/SSCE with whatever u have previously submitted online..if nothin then strictly what he said should work

send an email to international@algonquincollege.com ..they will give u d details u need or link you the necessary person u would need to talk to.. plus..oyinbo r ok in my experience (except CDHC VO maybe) ..you just need to spell out exactly what you want from them..

onuawuchi: What is the difference between temporary residence visa and study permit? I hear people mention TRV when they are talking about student visa. So I want to know if its an accompanying application for study permit, or is it a different app designed for another set of immigrants?

study permit it a type of trv.. as is visitors permit.. only indicates ur stay is for some time

rockar: ok, thanks hussie, there is no need to make photocopies for myself then. i will only do the photocopies of the important ones. thanks...was kinda scared, cos if my school cert shuld gt lost, im done for be that....lol

its a good idea to have all ur important documents scanned and always available tho (dropbox, google drive, etc).. that way u dont have to make copies when u dont prolly need it.. u can always print on demand

d2ddayo: hello people, pls i want to know if this is ever possible. i want my uncle to stand in as my sponsor, only that he is going to use his company as sponsor. since i cant use him as a personal sponsor due to the name difference, he suggested that i will stand as an employee at his company and he will provide every documents needed.

its possible, but i think the paper work will be more and of cos the company has to be really loaded to sponsor just any employee..
but i think what could make that plausible is you still provide evidence that he is ur uncle, and he owns the company you are working for.. that way he isnt just sponsoring any employee..
you will need to provide letters from the company (HR) that the company is sponsoring ur runs, and another from ur uncles indicating the relationship between you and why he is sponsoring u.. if the course u r going for is related to d company in any way, he could also indicate in that letter that he wants u to get good at whatever it is u on so u can come back and do stuff for him.. stuff like dt.. dt way u would have sorted out sponsorship and the coming back thing.

u can as well choose to resume in jan 2014. thats just 3 months away from sept..then there is enuff time for u to get admitted and apply for visa

you have a good chance since u guys are directly related. including birth certs for both of u guys indicating same mum/dad should fix tht..a letter explaining relationship and indicating why she wanna sponsor should be fine too

if they havent sent your letter of acceptance, you can try get them to courier it, or arrange a pickup..considering that if they are just gonna send it using regular post, might take till mid/late may before u receive it.. (i know some on ds thread are saying you can use a scanned copy, i dont know about that since the checklist clearly says "Original and 1 Photocopy of Letter of Acceptance". if anyone has previously been successful with a scanned copy, he/she might wanna chip in on ds)..
once that is sorted out..u can take it from there

one good way is ur dad indicating in that letter that he intends to invest the bulk of that retirement money in - insert whatever tickles ur fancy here - hence he is sending u to canada to get a very good education so that u can come back and manage it for him.. u can take that little idea and craft it as wild as u wanna

if school accept to use courier would be better for u, and prolly cheaper. most dont tho. in my case, i had to call dhl (check their nigeria site for number), arranged every over phone and email, made payment online..and they delivered to me..i guess u can as well go to their office for same

xtus: Yes, u just have to write a letter and address it to cdhc....... Then u state d reason why u wanna withdraw ur passport. Then take it to d embassy @ VI and submit, dey will giv u a form to fill and after awhile dey might call u inside.

before u contact the embassy tho..u can try contact the job ppl first..my guess is it might be easier getting them to let u use duplicate of ur passport..ds is from experience..i got a job with only scan copies of all my cred..i was able to convince them my originals are locked up in an embassy..
if they say no,then u can go back to d embassy

If you recall I posted my sisters case in January this year when her study visa was denied after medical and paying school fees. Recap of what happened - One month after Medical – Embassy called her to go pay her tuition, I am her sponsor (Am based in Yankee) - I made payment and her school emailed her receipts which she submitted to the Embassy. Embassy called her 2 days after submitting receipts they have not received her receipts – she immediately went back to the Embassy to sort things out and Embassy confirmed all is well and her proof of payment has been noted. 3 weeks later CVAC portal was updated her document is ready for collection. She got to Ikeja, open package and saw denial letter with the following reason – no ties to Home country, no travel history, no personal asset etc. My people we were all shocked – why call her to go pay tuition when you are not ready to issue travel permit. Any way per everybody’s advice – we repackage and submitted in January. I included a detailed letter of what happened and address all reasons why she was denied (included property deeds of the house she inherited from my late dad, as other supporting doc. She was called last week to come for an interview – she went to the embassy last Thursday March 21th, A Nigerian lady interviewed her. Per my sister the lady was very rude, she accused my sister her degree and NYSC Certificate may not belong to her. My sister politely told her to contact UNILAG and NYSC Office to confirm if her degree / certificate are fake, then the lady changed the topic. The lady then told my sister her undergrad Degree (BSC in Bio-chemistry) is not related to the degree she wants to study in Canada (MSC in Global Management). My sister told her she chose Global Management because of her interest to pursue a career in any of the UN Agencies in Nigeria – and her science undergrad will be a value added to MSC in Global Management in the event any related UN science project is assigned to her. The lady ended the interview and told her “I cannot issue you a visa because there is no correlation in the degree you plan to purse with your current undergrad.
My sister picked up her package on Monday with a denial letter and only one reason was check – NOT A BONAFIDE STUDENT, NOT CREDIBLE.

ds is the most disgusting excuse for denial after medicals i have ever seen/read, more like witch hunting.. sorry for her case. i really dont think its a big deal doing msc global mgmt as long as she validates it with well tot out reasons..after all its a known fact that plenty eng'g/science students proceed to do mba..how diff is that, considering she already indicated she is pursuing a career at the UN.
but as it stands, no one really knows what ds ppl r looking for..and ds one that its nigerians thats seems to be doin all the paper works, and oyinbo just approve, we might just have to be givin them what they want: plenty as* licking..they shld just let our ppl go!
as suggested, she might wanna consider opting for another related course to satisfy their curiosity, she should be able to change later when she gets there.. though i still believe writing a well broken-down letter of intent should work, only that, considering this will be the 3rd application (should she decide to go again), certainty is much more favorable.
