michaelcu: Wow!! Thanks bro...you wrote this mainly because of me, as if you could read my mind.I really appreciate. My only concern is that the course program I intend to apply for/passionate about is only being offered during September resumption.

So I either change my course of study and apply for Jan resumption courses or try my luck with this September resumption(My contact from the college said I could still make it, because the school issue admission letter within 5days or 2wks at most), or wait till September 2014 which is quite far if you agree with me.

yh sept next yr is quite far..but it wouldnt look like that anymore once ur trv is in view..
as u said the school issues admission letter within 5-14days..u can give it a shot..targettin an eventual submission of april ending latest..that could work, considering by mid year, CDHC usually speed up process a little.
i would assume u have ur transcripts and d likes sent to the school already..all those stuff that takes time..also, for this to work, the school would have to courier the admission documents using speedpost (dhl/fedex/tnt/..), most likely at ur request cos most schools use regular post..and that takes time! - an average of 2 months.u need to ask them specifically for this to be sure how they wanna send it, and if its not a courier service, you need to make the arrangements urself.. u could be lucky

to all asking questions bout time and all..i would suggest you just take ur time and apply when u can but most importantly, go through the basic instructions - either for the school applications or the embassy - and submit when all is actually ready - considering how long the embassy would take their time, of which at that point u have no influence on whatsoever..
even if u r just applying to the schools, dont be in a rush for september resumption and mess things up..cos frankly, at this point, its extremely difficult to meet sept again: u still owe the embassy at least 3 months if u r really lucky..4-6months in most cases..do the maths..
mayb when the expedited processing time is confirmed/implemented, things will change..but as it stands..

funny thing is..if ur resumption is delayed, like mine was, ur concern wouldnt be the delay anymore, all u will be hoping for at that point is they at least issue u the visa

I assume you mean if 28 is too old for undergrad considering ur current highest qualification is OND. My assumption is even 50 isnt too old, but considering the age and the year you finished ur secondary schooling, you will need to back your application up with a good letter of intent. just try and explain the years you been out of school, and why are going back now.. the more convincing u r, the better for u

But from the calculator on the University website, the cost of my program is about $16300 per annum and quebec living expense is at about $ 12020 per annum. On the field for cost of study, I filled in $ 16300, $ 12020 and $ 5000 respectively for tuition, room n board and other. I hope its okay

on my admission letter, there is no tuition amount, but they put an estimated $37000pa on an additional page for tuition, books and living. i didn't bother to add that page to the documents i submitted, i just used and printed the tuition of about $12,000pa from the website, and used the embassy estimated living cost of $10,000pa..that way i got to work with $22,000pa instead of the preposterous $37,000pa. u might wanna go that route too

it really is a function of when you get the admission. do you know for sure how long they gonna get the admission ready? most schools take 4-6 weeks.

i recommend you apply for jan 2014 instead.. 1st week of april is just 5 months till sept..before they review and give u admission..before them send..etc..even january is closing up..so u wouldnt have to deal with deferment right after

ehm..i didnt exactly submit any affidavit of sponsorship, as the sponsorship documents i submitted are the scholarship papers i got. i did add a letter from my brother tho, just as a supporting document.i could post the content of that if you think that would help

it will be right on it, saying you can resume so and so date..its actually obvious, if you cant find it on it, guess its not there. as it stands, you can do as xtus suggested..attached the correspondence with the school and a note saying you will provide the admission letter the moment you get it. then when the letter is ready, instead of allowing them to send it will regular snail-mail, you can request a pickup using dhl/ups..

to start with..what school is it?
most schools that dont defer without requesting a new application usually have more than one start date on the admission letter. have u checked to confirm its just january you have?

the summary is i just got my visa

the very long story is: this morning was chating with kayce when i saw this on vfs: "Your application has been assessed by the Canadian High Commission/Consulate General of Canada and is being returned to the centre where you applied".. i know that means they sending back my documents to vfs..i also know most likely its not yet at vfs, as the status will be ".... ready for collection..." when it gets there..
ordinarily,as is done before, i woulda assumed that is my visa. but cos like most people that got visa since january, they would get an email saying "Your application to study or work in Canada has been approved." ..and as at then, i haven't gotten that mail. i freaked out (ask kayce ).. cos i also know CDHC could still reject someone after medicals. i original tot i'll wait till 'morrow cos i wasnt with the slip (i stopped carrying it in my bag just last week after i was told by a nigerian cdhc official that they not gonna issue visa for me yet with more than 6 months to resume school)..i eventually got someone to bring the slip for me when i was sure i wouldnt sleep right knowin there is a schrodinger's cat right in my domain..
when i got there, my documents where still in transit, so had to wait for like 2 hr..eventually i got the package, and shakingly, i opened it and went straight to my passport..then i smiled..

sorry i bored u all, just so ecstatic at the moment..lol..yh..i also got that email too few mins ago..

considering u have paid tuition, the concern now is the livin expenses which they approximate at ~$10,000. 3M seems fair, but keep in mind they consider account history/cash flow, and also if your sponsor has other dependents.. really the God-factor is the ultimate.. no one really knows for sure what goes or not..i saw be prayerful.

according to the application checklist, yes you need to submit with your application. just go to CID HQ ikoyi with 4-6k to get it.

Kayce43 and Kenniy na wao, CDHC no try at all, I can't imagine the anxiety you are going through, I understand the scrutiny before they give trv, most people become permanent residents and even citizens after, but 2 months after medicals? That is absurd. Anyway God is not sleeping and he is bigger than any government. Will be more regular to the thread once I get settled. At least to help with settling in advice.

this. when i was at cdhc, i saw a number of people queued up to submit applications..one guy even told me he has been there since 4am, another said 6am. this really doesnt make sense to me. i think the only reason to go to the embassy to submit is if u dont know you can submit at vfs (as apparently the guy that told me he has been there since 4am didnt).
as at when i was there, 9am-ish, they still havent attended to anyone..and of cos they only accept applications on wednesday. why would anyone wanna subject themselve to such, when you can just walk into vfs anytime btw mon-fri, 8am-3pm. not like there is any advantage to submitting at the embassy directly, and u still pay courier package, and that prolly is more expensive than vfs N4,125 service charge; if any there prolly is a disadvantage cos i dont think u can track (not like that will make things any faster, but still..)..when i went to submit my application at vfs..i dont think i spent more than 20-30mins there.and that included me going out to take another passport photo cos the set with me werent ok..

they actually request that the visa be issued before they make the necessary remittance. like 99% of the awardees went to schools in uk, and there was no issue in that regard. that particular scholarship program is just 3 years old, and i am the second person (they award 2 ppl/state, merit based) ever to go to a canadian school..i contacted the guy that went to canada through the program in 2011, and he said he already got his visa when he claimed the money..something like what i am tryin to do now (i had to pay the tuition myself so that i can get a refund when i get there). they are always telling me why dont i wanna go to uk, that canada visa is too stressful..stuff like that, so they are not exactly in solidarity with me with the issues cdhc is sending my way.. they only told me earlier to try and make sure i get the visa before may though, so that i can get the payment out cos of the deadline.when i got the medical instructions in jan, i was confident i would..now am not so sure.

Robbie37: @ Kenniy: I feel you should hold on, from my calculation 6months to September puts first week in April as a wise time to go and inquire again if nothing is heard by then. I think the 6months thing is a policy they'll not look to waive easily. You mentioned May as the deadline for your scholarship, even though you may be cutting it close I think waiting till first week in April would be a smart move. Apart from the other things you said she mentioned waiting three weeks more might not be so bad. Keep ur head up. God bless us all.

the lady that called me specifically said a month or 2 before my resumption date..but doesnt seem to make sense to me. you are right though, i prolly should hold one a little till first week april before checkin back..

considering how uneventful the thread has been..plus how frustrated i currently am, please i need the opinion of everyone.

precursor: i submitted my application at vfs on sept 24, got medical instructions by mail on jan 4th. did medical jan 8. submitted other conditions feb 4. i originally applied to resume in jan 2013, but thanks to cdhc, had to shift my resumption to sept 2013. also, i am on nitda scholarship, 2012 session, and i fear that might expire this may if i dont redeem.

considering this is gonna be the 10th week after i did medical,and they aint replying to mails asking how far, kayce rightfully advised to go to the embassy that they would attend to me. which i did this morning. shortly after filling in the form with my stuff, i got a call from a lady (nigerian) workin there, saying they have received my medical report and all of my other documents, but since i am resuming in sept, i should wait some more till its close by, that they cant issue visa more than 6 months before i am travelling.
this really doesnt make sense to me, why cant they issue a dated visa if that is their argument? i tried to argue some more, saying i need to do other stuff, and i need to travel, but her response was, i can collect my passport and/or documents if i need it before the visa is issued. frankly, i dont wanna go that route, cos i dont knw if that would mean i would reapply or any sort of further time wasting.
i intend to go again next week, and on and on..till they give me something valid, cos even though i have no immediate plans to go to canada before august, i really wanna lock down the scholarship thing.. also, i intend to go to india for some other stuff before resumption..

my question is, please people, how do i approach this people so they attend to me give me my visa!..cos really, most of what the lady told me on the phone didnt make much sense to me..

The person i intended to use as my sponsor does not have a good cash flow in her account which may hinder my application.
Now, my plan is to pay my full/part tuition n get anoda person which may not bear d same surname wit me nor my mum.
How do you think I can claim a relationship wit that person.

a good letter of intent staying why he/she wanna sponsor you, and how he/she has sponsored u in the past should work..a family tree establishing relationship too would be needed (you can claim some sort of uncle/aunty).. just spice up the letter as good as you can..you should be fine..
