Run a scan on the transmission itself. Be sure they have a scanner that can diagnose transmission.

Car probably had overheating problem with previous owner and his technicians decided to run fan direct. It is not a good idea to run fan direct or remove thermostat to prevent overheating. Fans are also run direct if engine is getting old and needs extra ventilation. My advice: If engine is in very good condition, you will need to revert to how fan should be run without by-passing necessary relays, then check thermostat, fan speed and ensure radiator is not clogged with dirts.

Let all loosen devices or parts be fixed back to the car, take it for diagnosis/scanning. Write the codes generated and take the codes to other technicians to fix the problem. If they tell you same story, it's time to sell the car off.

I think the RX 350 is more like a SUV while Venza is just like a saloon car with 4WD ability. RX seems more sturdy and rugged, with masculine attributes while Venza looks like a choice car for the women folk. I will personally go for the RX 350.
