Asking for a 4 cylinder does not really mean one is poor. Somebody may just need a simple car for doing run-arounds without bothering about visiting filling station constantly. V6 has its purpose just as V4 or i4 have their purpose too. It all depends on individuals' needs. V6 is not good for short distance driving or short drive cycles because its like under utilizing the engine capacity, it enjoys long distances whereas 4 cylinder delights in city/traffic rides. I will personally say No. Even if you convert, you wont have a very smooth and perfect ride, your ride will still somewhat be bumpy because the car came originally with baloon, if you change to spring, the baloon sensors will not be able to understand the springs and therefore, vehicle computer will not be able to interprete accurate road topography and indentations on the wheels/tyres.
I will advise, if you are really a benz enthusiast, you save more and go for a C300 Nigerian use (or E350) with all suspensions intact rather than this money pit as someone called it.

The Lagos danfos you are talking about were manufactured in the 1980s and early 90s. I have gone for scan, but there are no error codes relating to the gearbox.

Run a scan on the transmission itself. Be sure they have a scanner that can diagnose transmission.
