I don't see any fraud in the above link, all I see is a disgruntled Michael Prescott who is trying too hard to discredit the challenge. James Randi and his group might be a little bit too strict on the application process but it still doesn't take anything away from its validity.

James Randi's million dollar challenge has been on for years (since 1964), that says a lot about the inefficacies of Juju/voodoo/supernatural claims.

But let me ask you these;.Have you experienced pain ? Have you seen an SS going through crisis? Will you just go ahead and terminate a pregnancy because of emotions?

Everyone has experienced pain in life. I have an SS female relative who just had her second child. Whether one terminates a pregnancy based on emotions is between a husband and his wife you won't be there when it happens and no one will tell you they have. People have done it for silly reasons while others do it to save the life of the mother others won't dare it. It is a matter of personal opinion. You can't force your opinion on others is what I've been saying all along.

You keep seeing everything as white or black, Yes or No, agree or disagree,which is the same way you are thinking about child termination issue which might even be therapeutic in some cases. Everything depends on what the choice of the parents be it morally right/wrong.

Let me state it clearly for you,O enlightened one, I fully know the repercussions of AS marriage, I know what an SS might or might not go through but I also know that forcing people,who have loved themselves and shared a lot for along time, not to marry can be futile. Even if you opened their brains and poured it into them that AS + AS might be dangerous many will still go ahead and get married. What do you do to such people? Bomb them into extinction :-/

Prenatal diagnosis is not an option in this family case. For the court to make the man pay 4000 for the child's upkeep tells you he does not earn well.
That diagnosis cost about 250,000 in Nigeria, I doubt if he will be able to afford that, again when it shows SS so what happens, they abort the fetus? The wahala too much.. The best option is to avoid AS+AS combination.

First off my opinion borders in general on already married AS couples and intending ones nothing to do with the OP's story, and yes I know its pricey.

The best option maybe for you not for others. You guys are seeing it from the angle of 1+1=2 so don't do it. You can't dictate outrightly to humans especially when their EMOTIONS are involved, they are not robots which means AS will still get married and make babies wether you like it or not. Viable options for these set of people is what I'm talking of.

It's wrong to make such assertive statement, stop seeing it as genotypical mathematics equation AS+AS = SS( when there's still possibility of AA and AS).

What you fail to understand is AS couples are humans and would do what humans always do which is act based on their emotions, it took a lot for them to come together as one and there's no way they will throw it away i.e decide not to marry because Smartestelvis said AS+AS =SS. Those are the people this option is for.
It's called Prenatal Diagnosis, where more than 100 different genetic abnormalities (not just SS genotype) can be diagnosed at early conception stage and the pregnancy terminated if the parents wish,meaning even AA couples are at risks of birthing babies with other genetic disorders unrelated to SS genotype. That is why I said it depends on what they think is morally right or wrong.

A prenatal diagnosis could be carried out to determine if the foetus is AA, AS or SS(determination of other genetic disorders is necessary too) and the parents are left to decide.

We need to get people informed about their options. Cheers

Back to the thread, apart from the fact that SS is just 25% chance happening, there's an alternative to deal with the Sickle Cell (SS) wahala for AS couples only snag is it dwells on what the couple might consider as morally right/wrong and might even be a bit pricey to carry out such procedure.

Oh by the way, AA do change to AS in some cases that's number 1, Nigerian Labs misdiagnose the whole genotype thingy sometimes. You could be made to believe that you are AA from birth by some labs meanwhile you are AS.
