candytos: Bro, I beg to disagree on this one, if you inform them you were married before you applied for the visa lottery (the application done by your friend) the standing rule is that you will be disqualified (please read the DV rules properly) and note you already sent your DS forms confirming you are single, so any attempt now to change your marital status will be seen as fraud and automatic disqualification. If u inform KCC that you are married they will accept your new form and send you ur 2NL, but your inconsistency will be noted in your file and the embassy will wait for u collect your money for visa processing for you and your dependents and then disqualify you, this is hard fact.
you have two options to this challenge you are in
.
1. Convince your wife to let you go as single then at a later date you will arrange to file for her to join you. You will be filing for her as if you got married after you migrated to US. This option is much safer, but there is a awaiting period and requires a lot of patience and faithfulness from both of you.

2. Take the advise above by timmoyegun, its risky but with fasting and prayer there is nothing God cannot do for a faithful child, you might find favor with the CO, when you open up truthfully to him/her.

I wish u God's divine favor in whatever decision you are taking.
Hard Fact o. On point.

ekwynox: God will favour us all, Amen.
Please, do not cause your self high bp because of 2nl or when to be current. take my case for example, i was supposed to current in october, cas number AF2014000027xx. Most ppl that are current for october in nigeria received their 2nl in august and september but i never received. i sent my forms on 29th may, and the forms arrived kcc 2nd week of june. I was patient and on 18th october, my 2nl landed after more than two months and i was booked for appointment on the 3rd of december. i thanked God and started preparing my documents little by little. so be patient, when it is your turn, you will surely get it. Just commit everything into the hands of God and pray very well.
also, for those saying that the people that have appointment by 10am don't make it. in fact, most people that i saw their interview by that 10am made it. they were all beaming with smiles except for a set of three people that didn't cum with three passports, they came with one passport each and i think they are together, but what i don't know is whether they are dv winners but am sure they are seeking immigrants visa but i don't whether its dv. they were frustrated and there interview was also rescheduled but they were later permitted to go and snap passports. please cum with your 2 x 2 white backgroung passport, up to 4 copies to avoid such trouble.
Ok noted.

ekwynox: Sorry this is coming very late but it is because of some exigencies.
My visa was approved yesterday 3rd December. My interview time was 10am.
I arrived at the embassy around 9.15am. One of the policemen on duty at the gate almost got me off my foot when I asked the way i should into the embassy. he told me i was already late but i should go and try my luck. On getting to the gate, the attendant there told me that those for 10am appointment are told to wait outside until 9.30am. This gave me a big relief. So before you ask questions, try to ask a reliable source to avoid unnecessary panic. At 9.30am, we were ushered in under tight security one after the other. The attendant collected my appointment letter and tore off the front page, gave back the remaining pages to me. She also gave me a blue card and some papers for payment. Please, try and keep those papers intact. They will ask for it later. From that point, i passed through four security gate, the last one being an automated scanner. Please avoid coming to the embassy with powder, liquids, make-ups, snacks, metal objects and phones because you won't be allowed to take them in and disposing of such may cause you some panic. I dropped my phones and other gadgets at home before coming. At the last door, i was issued a number B429. After some time, my name was called and i was asked to go and make payments before the submission of documents. After that, my documents were submitted and then waited for the interview proper.
the interview came around past eleven or some minutes before twelve.
Before the interview, i saw the CO, a beautiful black lady, scrutinizing my degree certificate, he even called another CO to help him do that, the man immediately confirmed to him that the seal is for authentication. I think that was because my certificate has some seals from the federal ministry of education, abuja, when i intended going to austria for my masters. Not quite long, my number beeped at that window and the interview went thus:
CO: Good morning
Me: Good morning
CO: Are you blah blah?
Me: yes
CO: Do you swear to say the truth
Mes: Yes, yes
CO; ok, sign this form
Me: signed
CO: i want to take your fingerprints
Me: i obliged
CO: have you traveled out of Nigeria before? (I know it was because of the seal on all my certificates from the ministry that made her ask that)
Me: No, i haven't
CO: cool, what is your highest level of education
Me: University degree in blah blah blah
CO: sorry please, started discussing with another CO, after some time, he called the short form of my first name, nonso. at that point, i suspected she is ibo. when did you finish your university education?
Me: 2011
CO: Have you done your NYSC?
Me: yes
CO: where?
Me: blah blah blah
CO: What was your primary assignment?
Me: Teaching
CO: what did you teach?
Me: biology and chemistry
CO: what was the age of your students?
Me: smiles, say between 15 - 18 years, the normal age of ss3 students
CO: good. what are you doing now?
Me: blah blah blah
CO: where?
Me: blah blah blah
CO: Are you married?
Me: No, of course, am single
CO: have you any kid?
Me: smiles, not all
CO: you have satisfied me, you visa has been approved. brought two white papers and started explaining about how to pay USCIS fee and how to pick up visa. I was happy, though i was listening to her but happiness couldn't allow me to hear her well unlike when she was interviewing me.

So, my fellow forumites help me thank God. I equally pray that the God that did it for me will do so for all of you. the VISA is all yours in the mighty name of JESUS! Amen.
Congrats. I wish you God's Grace as you sojourn to your new home.

I contacted the moderator on permitting us to drop contact here, but he declined and says we should make use of the nairaland email system which I have used to contact some of us here like @buklan4real as well. ayodim: I have been following this thread from the begining as a guest. My family visa has been approved this morning. We got to the embassy at 5:30am , went through all security checks and finally entered the hall some minutes before 8,made payment and waited to be called. Our number was finally called where a beautiful black lady welcomed us with a smile. She asked us to thumb print and take oaths. Then she askedthe following questions:
1. What do you do in Nigeria?
2. What's your highest education level?
3. Is this your only child?
4. What type of wedding did u have?
5. Do u have family phorographs?
She took the photographs and said"u have a lot of family pictures
Then she said " congratulations your visa has been approved" and gave us two forms for visa pick up.

My advise for is that you should dress the way you want to be addressed and be bold (look straight with smiles). Most importantly, PRAY a lot. The visa is yours.

Finally, I want to thank all forumites for all questions and answers shared so far,it was really helpful. God bless you all
Congratulobia. Go and live your American dream. Don't forget to hit me up for good deals in flight tickets.
TravelRe: DV 2014 Winners Meet Here by kevweflex(m): 9:06pm On Dec 03, 2013
Darhmee: Hi guys.. so here was how it started.. I did the visa lottery for myself as the principal and my mom as the principal back then. So when my mom won, the only the only thing i have was the confirmation number.. i wasnt sure if i registered my dad and my siblings with her but with faith, we continued the processing. My dad didn't want to go with us because he has businesses he is running here in NIgeria and also, my older brother is over-aged. So, i and my mom decided to do the processing for just the both of us.
However, because of the rareness of our case, people said we will be turned down, they said we will be rejected bla bla but i and mom paid them no listening ears.. That really helped!

So today, our interview was for 7am, we got there 5:45am, and at about 6:15, we were told to line up, we did security checks, people's powder, phones, sharp objects, liquid, charger, containers were disposed..(please do not bring any of these with u to the embassy, its an lot of trouble finding how to dispose them).

So at about 8am, we were inside the hall, my mom paid for the both of us and when it was time for submission of document, the woman in charge told my mom to go out and take another passport photograph because the one she has with her was with a blue background. So my mom went out and the cheapest rate she could find for 6 passport photograph was N2000!! Can u imagine?!.

So she brought the passport and while we were submitting our document, the woman asked why my dad wasnt included in the first submission and my mom said it was because he wasn't interested, the woman shook her head! Right there, i had thought we would be rejected.

So at about 10:15, our number beeped on window 17.. the CO was a beautiful and young black American
She told us to swear, took our fingerprints and then the conversation below ensued
CO: what is ur name ma'am
My Mom: xxxx
CO: Did u fill the lottery form urself
MM: Yes
CO: So why is ur sister here with you:
MM: She is not my sister, she is my daughter ((we both laughed)
CO: OMG.. Im so sorry.. Wow madam.. u look so young and she is gorgeous
MM and I: Thank you, u look beautiful too
CO:. Who is philip and why is he not going with u
MM.. he is my husband and bla bla
CO: what is your highest level of education
MM.. bla bla
So she excused herself for a minute, came back, typed some things into the computer, gave us 2 sheets of paper.. (i was already jumping by then lol). She then said, your visa has been approved, pick up this this this that.. i wasnt listening anymore cheesy

So guys im not gonna lie to you, i and my mom prayed and fasted for days before attending that interview.. we even went to a 7 nights vigil that ended last SUnday.. If not for prayers and God's favour, we wopuld have been denied. Please lets prepare ourselves and pray to the God/gods we believe in.

I thank every member of this page.. i dont want to mention names cos i appreciate you ALL.. God bless and i wish the people who are yet to go for their interview SUCCESS SUCESS SUCESS..

Cheers!

PS: Malcom 28 and ayodim.. big congrats to your family.. we were at the embassy the same time, can you describe yourselves? i was the lady with the cream blazer and my mom is the one with the african fabric jacket smiley
Congratulations my sister. What about your popsy? So una want leave am waka? grin grin grin grin huh huh

Good afternoon house. Please I want make a suggestion. We all did not meet here by mistake or chance, I believe it's orchestrated by the Most High that we have to know one another here at this time. Many have come and gone especially after successful interview, they jet out and are too busy most times to say hi. It's not that they don't want to say hi, but like I wrote, they are too busy. From this, I wish to suggest that we try as much as possible to connect with one another, I know some of us have already, but it would be great if we continue to remain as one family. Nairaland is the platform with which we all knew ourselves at the instance of winning the DV lottery. Wouldn't it be lovely also if we continue to see each other after now, drop lines via the various social media, share business ideas after now in the USA? We would all be one strong indivisible family of class of DV 2014 family. Have reunions in the States. I'm sure it would be wonderful. What say you guys in the house? If you agree, click like and send PMs to members to connect.

candytos: I see your predicament, I am advising you to use the correct age, which is what you have sent in the forms, do not change it as that is what is on her certificates and passports and birth certificate I believe. Tell your sister to tell the CO the truth at the interview if the CO raise an issue on it, tell him that an agent applied for her and made the mistake of putting wrong DOB and place of birth, They understand and know agents help people to apply and mistakes are made and they do not make issues on it so long u tell the truth. Believe me we give this people too much credit they will not note or see this difference in DOB or place of birth not to talk of raising issues about it. Tell ur sis that the visa is hers In Jesus Name amen. u will surely testify on her behalf In Jesus Name amen.

Others please comment
I concur with you. You are right, stick to the real DOB, and say the truth which you will swear to tell in front of the CO.

P.S.: If you check, I re-edited your post. The part you wrote IJN.

G2Glory: Beloved, my candid advice is fo you to get the NPC attestation of age. I am not sure if that delaration of age is accepatble (pls read the requirement). It will cost you just between 2,500 & 4,000 naira.

I had a birth certificate that was issued in the 80's despite that i was born in d 70's because i was not too convince if it was acceptable or not. i went for NPC certificate so as to be on a safer side. This opportunity worth such investment.
Sure, you are right bro. It's an investment.

komakan: September 30, 2014.
Sorry komakan, you seem to have mixed it up. It's from ASAP (As soon as possible) after successful interview to before 6 months before visa expiration. The visa has a 'life span' of 6 months from the date of issuance, so you have between that time before leaving. So if all your logistics and et al is set, you can leave anytime you like. But ensure you don't overstay till your visa expires, if it does, guy na "one chance" be that.

I think this is a case of last name first, first name last. Since this may be their format, they now picked Olajide instead of Adebayo.
