A40: Eli was finished since 2016 at least. I would not trade a 7th round pick for Eli Manning I'm not even joking. Have you seen his numbers without Odell? I don't quite get what the Giants are actually trying to do
I feel bad for Saquon. They should have traded him too and not waste his good years The Giants bad choices so far, might make Saquon into another player that would spend most of his prime playing for a bad team. |

A40: Your article is literally corroborating what I said ab initio.
We took a calculated gamble paying AB in advance after his second deal. Had he failed the Steelers would have been slandered for extending a second rounder after two seasons. People always go on and on about these things as if the league is not filled with players who flop after getting huge deals.
Besides most of the cap juggling moves were made due to paucity of funds and not because they didn't want to pay Brown. He was made the highest paid receiver and the Steelers policy is well known when it comes to these contracts. Everybody is subject to it even Big Ben My point is that he did not flop after the contract and every thing he did was about getting that guaranteed money |

A40: Underpaid for 10 years? No be 2010 e enter league? Haba. You people should fear God nau! We gave him a $42.5m/5 year deal after his second season where other teams would have allowed him to run his rookie contract, bear in mind he was a 6th round pick
And after that deal expired he was given a $68m/4 year deal that made him the highest paid receiver in the game! So if the Giants or Texans pay Odell or Hopkins a certain amount 2 or 3 years later, you don't expect the Steelers to react to every change in the market. So you see The Steelers took care of Antonio Brown abeg. You people should stop spreading this false narrative.
We won 0 Superbowls with him and got to 0 Superbowls even with him in his prime so I really don't care Another thing how does him being a 6the round pick affect his contract. His contract should be dependent on his production, which he was doing at an elite level. |

A40: Why should I like a guy that burned bridges at a team that paid him twice.
If you double JuJu Smith then more food for the other tight ends and receivers. The NFL is the ultimate team sport.
What people are not getting in this matter is that Big Ben made Antonio Brown not the other way round. Absence of AB means less forced throws and more balanced targets and ball distribution. Ben has thrown over 300 TDs and 50k yards
The Steelers offense was strong in the 2008-2009 Superbowl season. It wasn't just the defense AB has been underpaid for about 10 years now compared to other WR of his talent. In a sport where career ending injury can happen any time, I appreciate the broda wanting to get paid. The deal with the raiders was simply about money nothing else if the steelers were willing to pay him what comparable talents were earning I doubt he would have even demanded for a trade in the first place. |

No mind these our LBJ family. During the series of finals between GSW and the Cavs, I remember vividly on this thread when some LBJ fans were busy arguing and winning on how the Cavs are favorite and have the best casts. It was even worse when that werey arrived on this thread (the one wey claim to be God of the IQ's), that one when went on to compare players by their positions and guess who won? Cavs because to him/them Bron>Durant, Kyrie playing better than Curry, TT better than Draymond, J.R = Klay, then K.Love is an advantage abi na how he talk am sef After finals; GSW is a cheat team with 4 all stars, KD is a snake, Bron has no help.... Here on this same thread o. It was only the last finals that warriors were clear favorites o, and still to LBJ's fans last year "It will be a close finals" until end of game 2. In what universe is TT better than Draymond, and to compare JR to Klay is blasphemy. |

ipledge10: Look like lakers is also tanking for Zion There is no way they are in the race for Zion. On a more serious note KD has conclusively overtaken Lebron has the best player in the league. Not because of last years finals but because of what is going on right now (that is how Lebron took over the mantle from Kobe). KD is simply the most complete offensive player of all time, not the best but the most complete. |

steady986: Yea, we've heard that line before, but what happens on the court is far more important. I beg to differ, this Bucks team are a well oiled machine and IMO, need someone to just talk to them in the huddle or in the locker room, that someone has to be a person who all the players know to have been there and done it at the highest level. Remember even their coach does not have huge playoffs experience so what Pau brings to the table will be priceless. |

Eruditor: Kevin Durant has been the best player in the NBA since 2017. All the arguments people used to make for Lebron are all flat because KD has consistently outdone him. He has outplayed Lebron in 2 straight finals in both scoring and defending. Because one player looks like he is carrying more does not make him better. To suddenly shift to Antetokoumpo is just pure mischief. He is not even better than Curry, Kawhi, Harden yet in that order. Come on, how do you outplay a player who has better stats and effect on his team while he is being done teamed throughout a playoff series. While KD never gets double teamed in the Cave series. One of the most salient reasons why I have MJ above other wings is because he is the only one of them who played his entire career, where no other player in his team was ever double teamed. KD won two finals MVP without being double teamed for the series, so forgive me if I do not call that person the best player in the world. |

Manutd19: Houston keep beating the Warriors. Teams like Rockets, OKC ....are among few teams that can upset the Warriors in playoff cos they ain't scared of them unlike Mr LeBron.
In as much as I like Steph and the Warriors, I still believe they are overrated.
All these talk of best team ever by the media is just a way to justify Lebron's failure imo. A team has 2 of the five greatest shooters of all time, plus top 3 offensive player of all time and a 2 time DPOY. All that added to a system that puts sharing the ball above ISO ball, and someone still says that they are underated. The Warriors have the only team in recent memory where the opposing team cannot double team a top 5 player in the league. Please STOP THAT. |

A40: This is a very hilarious statement to make. I'm in stitches here.
Tell me any defender that can lace the boots of Beckenbauer, Baresi, Scirea and Gentile? Which boxer today is as technically sound as both Sugar Rays, De La Hoya etc.
Which defensive lineman is as sound as Lawrence Taylor. Which big in today's league is as sound as Tim Duncan, Kareem and Hakeem?
All the ball handlers you have today all modeled their game after the likes of Pistol Pete, Isaiah Thomas, Penny Hardaway, Magic etc. Shooting depending on your position (especially of the 3pt variety) is not a sign of fundamentals anything bro! It's an acquired fad backed by analytics. Any mugu can order his team to launch 50 threes a game. It proves nothing and can desert you at the most ill opportune moment just ask the Rockets
I will not even go into the level of defending and all. I challenge you to name one defender in today's game that could guard like Moncrief, Payton or the GOAT. Are you talking of this buttersoft era where you can't hand check? Do you think someone like James Harden will get any calls if he played back in the day?
Your argument on Malone is moot. Who knows how many rings Jordan could have won if he didn't retire at the peak of his powers in 93, or if Charles Oakley wasn't the second best player on his team in his early years Defenders today actually have to guard people without touching them, imagine Kwahi, PG13, butler and co with the ability to touch up their opponents. As for fundamentals, IMO they are taught and learned unlike natural talent. Players have better chance of getting access to the right coaches these days than say 20-40 years ago, so i stand by the fact that players in all sports might not be more talented than those of time past, but in terms of their fundamentals they are definitely better. As for ball handlers you said modeled but forgot to add improved upon. The likes of kyrie, steph. Jamal Crawford have all improved on the works of previous masters |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 10:53pm On Feb 22, 2019 |
A40: When you say more depth of talent it depends. Do you mean top-tier talent or the usual cannon fodder that masquerade as talent and flatter to deceive when shyte hits the fan. In Jordan's era for example you had in the East the Knicks, Cavs, Magic, Pistons, Celtics, Heat, Pacers who were solid and could beat any team today. People throw the word talent very loosely but the old school guys were much better fundamentally than what we have now.
You have a legit argument that the GOAT was favorite in his Finals appearances but they were favorites because of him. Jordan was the dragon everyone was trying to slay and ultimately failed to do so at his peak.
No. The Pistons were stacked and were back to back NBA Champs when the GOAT swept them. The Celtics of course caught Jordan in his early years, Charles Oakley was his second best player FFS and they were nights he had to drop 63 just to get the game to overtime. In Jordan's peak you were not in doubt as to who the best player in the league was, even in the years he didn't win the MVP you knew it was mostly due to protest and sympathy votes for others The old school guys are better fundamentally please give me a break, there is no sport in the world where the players are fundamentally better years ago than now. In terms of ball handling and shooting alone your argument fails. If a big like Karl Marlone for instance could shoot MJ will in all likelihood have lost at least one championship. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 9:18pm On Feb 22, 2019 |
Another point most persons don't take into account is the fact that the NBA now has more depth of talent than it ever had both in the 80's and 90's. So players now face tougher match ups(in terms of quality of talent) on a more consistent basis. Lebron is IMO a top 10 player all time that's all i can give him, but i still recall the quality of oppositions MJ faced for his 6 championships, he was the favorite before every one of those finals. Every time MJ faced a stacked team in his career they beat him from the Celtics to the Pistons Personally I don't believe any team sport can have one concensus GOAT, for a position maybe e.g MJ is without doubt the greatest 2 guard of all time. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 8:59pm On Feb 22, 2019 |
A40: The black guy pouring the henny will have something to say about that.
Michael Jordan at age 40 was dropping 43 points on the defending Eastern Champions New Jersey Nets. In a very defensive league at the time. But for some reasons there are clowns that think the GOAT would not dominate today's players that can't hand check and send guys like Embiid and Harden to the line more than 10 times per game. I have no doubts in my mind that in today's NBA the GOAT would average 45pts per game and in this 3pt era maybe more I have one problem with all this GOAT conversations, KAJ when he was still called Lewis Alcindor was the best player in the whole league as a rookie. Why is it only wings who are touted as GOAT's, this is the same problem I have with football where only forward and midfielders get all the respect. |

Tundesam923: Even with Kyrie, there is no assurance Celtics reach the Eastern conference finals. Toronto, and the bucks would have something to say about that. Don't trust the sixers!!! The fit, and chemistry is not just there yet Waiting to see Mirotic play for the Bucks, but I agree Toronto and Milwaukee have a team where every body knows their role. For the sixers IMO they fit especially their starting 5, but chemistry and egos will be their problem. All things said and done the Celtics still have the best closer in the East with Kyrie, if the other players can accept their roles and do their job the Celtics still have a chance |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 10:09pm On Feb 18, 2019 |
Roland17: I agree. I don't think we can win or get to the finals without Kyrie, that is my take. I have heard so many people say we lay better without him and I just laugh. Rozier cannot be trusted with leading the team from the point, he makes too many irrational decisions with the ball especially when he does not keep it simple. We saw what happened last year after Kyrie went down. If Kyrie played that final series against the Cavs, even on one foot, we would make the finals. Kyrie's clutch play is very important especially during tight games and that is what the postseason brings. We keep Kyrie and somehow keep Tatum and I am satisfied, irrespective of AD's landing spot. I would hate to lose Tatum because of AD.
The Celtics have to make a big move now and Ainge knows that. If that is AD then we must be sure it is long termed. The Knicks are doing everything right about tanking for the 1st pick of the draft. If AD will sign long term then trading Tatum makes sense. Tatum himself said 'i would trade me for AD'. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 8:07pm On Feb 18, 2019 |
Celtics back in the picture for AD, just keep Kyrie and they now have the group work to compete for championships. All Danny Ainge should be praying for is that the Knicks should not get the overall 1st round pick. |
