This weekend's clean sweep by Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa affirms yet again, the primacy of southern hemisphere rugger!
And yet the northern hemisphere persist with the fiction that next year's World Cup is theirs for the taking!
grin grin grin

Actually I've noticed the Argies have really upped their game this past decade. I'm not the only one:
England are long gone from this World Cup, flushed down the gurgler before the group stages were over. The Pumas roar on, into their second semi-final in three tournaments, playing the sort of open, attacking, liberated rugby that the hosts had once hoped to deliver.

This is the story of a rugby revolution. It has already demolished the best team in the Six Nations. And, with the Wallabies up next and a first World Cup final just 80 minutes away, there are bigger icons lined up in its sights.

That was 2015-now they're potential WC winners!

With the way Russia is handling the war in Ukraine, and the loss of it's equipment is making Western weapons now looking like a preferred choice.

Asides the political constraints on western gears, I am now convinced that western weapons has superior and quality build compared to Russian/Soviet build.

Secondly, in today's air combat, BVR is now the mainstay of aerial warfare. It doesn't matter which aircraft.

Whoever sees and shoots first lives. Nevertheless, considering the technical aspects, range of BVR missile, AESA radar detection range, and radar cross section are important in deciding who comes out alive.

Likewise other support systems like EW suite, ECCM, AEW&C, and data links can act as a force multiplier.

So in this scenario, I believe the western jets ticks off all the box.

Rarely do aircraft now come into merge but if they ever do, I believe the SU-35 gets the advantage even against stealth primarily because of it's maneuverability and it's internal OLS-35 electro-optical infra-red search and track system which can comfortably track, target, and KILL stealth aircraft from at least 20 nautical miles.

REALLY!? Can you give us an OSINT based comparative study looking at price, combat effectiveness, survivability, maintenance, user friendliness of the
- T 90 vs Leopard 2 A6/7, M1 A2
- 2S19 Msta vs Caesar/ PZH 2000
- Russian D 20 vs M 777
- Su 30 series vs F 15/18s
- Mi 28/ Ka 50/2 vs Apaches/ Cobra AZ 1.

Meaning look at the specs closely even if maybe OEM exaggeration. Eg the T 90s all have an APS- how does that increase their effectiveness against Western tanks? What of their respective armour protection levels? Which gunship has best armour/ speed and payload?
Do that for each platform. I'll wait.
Thanks!

Kikuyu - look like some of manifesto is filtering through - the most exciting Ruto is promising to phase out fossil fuels in 3yrs - and make kenya electric...audacious goal by an African country.
I guess GoK will have to create industries to convert diesel and petrol engines to electric engines...do the conversion as loan for the motorcyle sector...and in few years diesel & petrol consumption will drop to bare minimum.
Doable for motor bikes...worldwide the trend is electric bikes.
Difficult for cars. But if gov zero rate electric cars...we could see many of them coming in.
We have about 500-700MW of power going to waste now.
Ethiopia can sell us 400MW of power cheaply.
We spend 3 billion dollars importing fossil fuel - with attendances shocks that come with prizes swinging widly.
This will provide huge opportunities for electric transport sector.

Let me have an indepth look at their plans after the release tomorrow for a detailed response.

I had the good doc on ToT 6 yrs ago. A reminder of his career.

Hanke's first academic appointment was at the Colorado School of Mines in 1966, when he was 24. During this time, Hanke developed and taught courses in mineral and petroleum economics,[29] while completing his Ph.D. dissertation on the impact of meter installation on municipal water demand.[30]

Hanke then joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins University, where he initially specialized in water resource economics. After six years at Johns Hopkins, including a one-year visiting professorship at the University of California, Berkeley, Hanke attained the rank of full professor,[3] one of the fastest promotions to that rank in the school's history.[31] At present, Hanke teaches courses in applied economics and finance[32] that are widely recognized as a gateway for Hopkins students to gain employment on Wall Street.[33][34][35][36]

Over the course of his career, Hanke has held editorial positions with a number of academic journals, including the Journal of Economic Policy Reform; Water Resources Research; Land Economics; and Water Engineering and Management. He currently holds editorial positions with The International Economy, The Independent Review, Cato Journal, Review of Austrian Economics, Economic Journal Watch, and Central Banking.[37]

In 1995, Hanke and Johns Hopkins University history professor Louis Galambos founded the Johns Hopkins Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health and Study of Business Enterprise.[3] Hanke is also a senior fellow and director of the Troubled Currencies Project at the Cato Institute,[1][38] a special counselor to the Center for Financial Stability,[39] and a member of the Charter Council of the Society for Economic Measurement.[40]

Hanke is a senior advisor at Renmin University's International Monetary Research Institute, along with Nobel laureate Robert Mundell of Columbia.[41

Jesus! Watch this with pen and paper. It's only 15 mns yet packed with detail showing how Jean-Fraude has fked Niger since the early 70s paying low royalties, contaminating the environment and transfer pricing uranium sales to Europe based subsidiaries.

https://youtu.be/1cVEjh5b2JE

The French parastatal Areva, a global giant in designing nuclear power plants has solidified their stranglehold on Niger via legally binding skewed contracts. Eg, of all their uranium mines in Niger, K'stan and Saskatchewan guess which pays by far the lowest royalty?

In all the thousands of tacticool operator pics I don't think we've ever seen the cost implications of NVGs-leave it to me! These are latest Gen 3,the capabilities of which are export restricted.

"On the same note, it is a violation of ITAR to allow any non-U.S. citizen to look through U.S. Gen3 night vision equipment (even on US Soil). They are also not allowed to have access to any operator’s manuals or documentation, whatsoever, pertaining to US Gen 3 Night Vision Devices. This is a little-known fact about ITAR and Night Vision Devices, but it is true. We have confirmed this with the US State Department and major Night Vision Manufacturers. At TNVC, we take great care to ensure our clients are properly informed on laws and regulations pertaining to night vision. "

With the advent of televised school rugby, a lot of issues have arisen. Sponsorships, advertising have seen a massive injection of money. Steroid use is on the rise, poaching of players and creative ways to pass on the largesse to schoolboys and coaches. And of course, the poorer schools are left sucking on the hind tit as they lose their best players.

BTW, what do you think of the idea floating around to have Kenya, Namibia, Zimbabwe and possibly Uganda joining the Currie Cup and other domestic competitions?
We're already seeing talented boys from all those countries playing for various SA schools!

The recent cutting of ties and subsequent cancellation of a nearly century-long derby between DHS and Glenwood shows the ugly side of school sports is here to stay, writes DYLAN JACK.

Disappointing, yet hardly surprising, news broke on Thursday that the governing body of Durban High School had decided to cut ties with Glenwood, owing to recent tensions between the two schools.

SARugbymag.co.za understands that at the heart of the issue is the recruitment of four DHS schoolboys between Grade 8 and 9 by Glenwood.

rvp2018:
This really the problem with Raila and most his supporters. You're suffering from tunnel vision. You're so focused on Mt kenya that you've lost ground in your base. It's proverbial pursuing two birds in the bush and leaving the one at hand.

Even if you win some Mt kenya votes...unless you hit 60%...to go even with Ruto...you're dead.

Let me break it down.
MtKenya population is about 23% - 17.5% kikuyu,4.5% meru, Embu/Mbeere 1%.
Due to their population structure (more adults than kids) & higher turnout - their national voters share is higher - at 28% (rough estimate of 2017)
If turnout is subdued by 10% - that will slice off 2.8%
So this election MtKenya is 25% of the total expected voters nationally...about the size of entire rift valley province.

50% of that 12.5%....

The gap btw Jubilee and NASA in 2017 was about 9-10%.
If Ruto loses half MtKenya(12.5%) but retain the rest of Jubilee he would be around 54.5% - 12.5% - (42%)

But we know Ruto has gained by campaigning for 5yrs nationally - all over - with Hustler Revolution - so give and take - 3-4% - like he helped Jubilee in 2017 improve from 51% to 55% (rounding off).

So Ruto essentially with half MtKenya is 45%. That is UDA Ruto - that for argument sake has lost 50% of MtKenya

And that is without Kenya Kwanza.

Weta brings Bukusu votes...he has never run but he is influential in Bukusu who are the largest subtribe in Luhyaland (give him 2% nationally - I think Bukusu are 5% nationally - maDVD last time got 1% - Ruto already has had his play - so I think he really add Ruto 2%)
MaDVD brings Maragoli and other Luhyas...he got 4-5% in 2013. It didn't quite show in NASA - who improve slightly because Raila like he does hammorage more votes than maDVD brough to NASA from Amani caolition.

So at 45% UDA with half MtKenya (for argument sake) - with MaDVD 5% - Ruto is already 50% - with Weta - he is at 52%.

Ruto still has little play from Mutua & Kingi (latest acquisition maybe worth 1% nationally) - to afford to lose another 10% of MtKenya (3%) - and still win by 51% - a whisker.

In Short for Raila to go 50-50 with RUto - he better be playing around 60% of MtKenya.

But reality - Ruto is not losing 50% of MtKenya. Ruto is losing 20-30% of MtKenya - that about 7.5% nationally- so he essentially starts at 54.5% - minus 7.5% ---which is around 47% of 2017 as his UDA base. He gains another 7% - and wins by 55%.

Comeback on the 9th August. The result will be the usual. Ruto 55% - Raila 45% if not worse - Ukambani for example Raila is doing very badly.

And these things are easy....get an excel...and I can show you the tribal percentage of each county...crunch the numbers.

Raila will lose because while he is focussed on gaining Mt kenya (so far evidence suggest he isnt making much headway) - Ruto will double or triple what Uhuru got in 2017 in former Raila strongholds like Western, Ukambani, and Coast. That will negate all the little gains Raila will in Mt kenya.

And that really is Raila political story...a sisypean curse where he get into next election cycle...destroy his coalition and then start again..instead of consolidating that support and trying to get the 5-7% he has so far missed in three elections..he is a month from his 5th (or 6th if you add 1982) loss.

Same same 2017 story - He gained MaDVD - improved in Luhyaland to 85% - but lost votes elsewhere - so Jubilee improved from 51% to 55%. In 2017 his maths was simple - he had 44% - he only needed to gain 5% from MaDVD - but he forgot that he needed not to leak votes elsewhere.

2013 - he started with 45% of 2007 - all he needed to win was keep kalenjin in ODM...and try to get 5% from Kalonzo. He failed.

2007 - Oranges Referendum had won by 58% - all they needed to do was to retain Kalonzo - they failed - Ukambani left for ODM-Kenya and Raila was rigged out because his numbers were not good enough to beat an incumbent.

He thinks Karua will give him Mt. Kenya! And Tayser thinks so too!? He's not and has never been a planner but a schemer which is his undying problem. Shortsighted and reactive and behind the curve.

It is when the two words become used as verbs or as adjectives that some interesting distinctions of emphasis begin to emerge. To plan is usually regarded as idealistic, rational, far-sighted, noble; to scheme, on the other hand, is regarded as devious, irresponsible, subversive, underhand.

Ion! The J/Ukes have abandoned some Caesars given by Jean-Fraude.

French politician and far-right National Rally candidate for the 2022 general election, Jean-Michel Cadenas, has criticized the Ukrainian military for abandoning two Paris-originated Caesar self-propelled howitzers on the battlefield. Cadenas also blasted French President Emmanuel Macron for sending them in the first place.

“Russia has recovered, among other things, two of the first six Caesar howitzers sent by France [to Ukraine]! They were in perfect working order. The Ukrainians withdrew [from their positions] so quickly that they did not have time to either destroy or booby-trap them!” Cadenas wrote on his Twitter account.

Imo,the Russians are simply trolling Maricon (spp)

The Uralvagonzavod Russian defense lab which is studying the Caesars also sent its regards to the French president.

“[We] send out gratitude to President Macron for [the] gifted howitzers. We can’t say that they are good howitzers, nothing like our MSTA-S [NATO codename: M1990 “Farm”]. Nonetheless, we will find a good use for them. Please send more for disassembly!” Uralvagonzavod wrote.

Kenya politics is tribal. Nakuru is 50 percent Kikuyu; 30 percent Kalenjin; 20 percent others (Gusii, Luhya, Maasai and Luo). Nakuru is obvious - UDA/Ruto will carry the day. Kikuyus in Nakuru and Eldoret - and in most of Rift Valley - are voting peace - they want to continue peaceful co-existence with Kalenjin after 92-07 PEV - that is why not a single MP apart from Arama(Gusii) is in Jubilee - all of them joined UDA. Only Lee is stuck and is going home. The same scenarios play in Narok, Kajiado and Tranzoia - where Kalenjin/Kikuyu constitute a significant minority - that basically decide the seats.

Per capita is a Latin term that translates to "by head." Per capita means the average per person and is often used in place of "per person" in statistical observances. The phrase is used with economic data or reporting but is also applied to almost any other occurrence of population description
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/percapita.asp

In consequence look at their ishyt!

The Swedish army has 121 tanks (Leopard 2A5/Strv 122), roughly 1,300 APCs (Patria XA-360/203/180, RG-32 Scout), 800 IFVs (550 CV9040, 150

For some reason they've no army aviation and rely on the AF which has these A/C.

Currently the Swedish Airforce has a total of 210 aircaft, 94 of those being JAS39C/D (60 JAS39E on order), 6 C130H Hercules (1 with aerial refueling capabilities), 4 SAAB 340 (2 AEW&C and 2 VIP transport), 4 Gulfstream IV (2 SIGINT and 2 VIP transport) aswell as 15 UH-60 Blackhawk and

As a reminder these are the Original Grip flyguys. Tbh I expected wayyyy more choppers! Id've gone for 2 squadrons, 24 F 18s for greater reach and performance of twin engines but they've been strictly defensively oriented for the longest.

[
b]The Swedish Navy has a total of 387 ships, [/b]wich consist of 5 submarines(3 Gotland, 2 Södermanland), 7 corvettes(5 Visby, 2 Gävle), 9 Minesweepers

Yes, their numbers are small but you can see they have the platforms. Do you think a larger formation, even 3x the size with a per capita spend correspondingly less of say 80 or 90000$ would want to take on the Swedes all things being equal?
LOGICALLY, HELLZ NO! They'd have wayyyy less platforms and warfighting support infrastructure making such a decision as unwise as that of Zelensky who provoked the Russian Bear.

People, it ain't complicated, really!

rvp2018:
Ruto manifesto will be out on 30th June. According to Ndii - Ruto has assembled the largest policy wonks ever - about 200 top brains are involved. Ruto has kept it under wraps because Raila is clearly running on empty and has been waiting to copy-paste. For the first time we have a semblance of issue based campaign although ethnicity remain the key.

Some of highlight of Ruto manifesto that I have been able to decipher.
1) Big push on Agri sector - there are at least 8 million farmers in Kenya - mostly dealing with basics - financing farming through cooperatives like happens in 60s and 70s - before Moi killed AFC/KGGC in 1980s and 1990s.

2) Big push on housing - end of slums/slum scrappers/kayoles - more formal housing - built on unprecedented scale that will be sold cheaply like used to happen before 1990s. There is no need of kayoles or pipelines or kiberas - informal housing sector. This will employ at least a million people. It will also free people investing in rental/housing to invest in proper business. The gov exit of formal housing in early 1990s due to Jirongo/mugoya company messes - gave us the rise of slumlords and kayoles all over - unplanned expensive dangerous and unsafe housing.

3) Big push in healthcare -everyone will get free primary healthcare. Continued investment in TIVET. End of CBC (unfortunately) and return to 8-4-4- implementation was bungled - cant be saved.

4) Big push on Water - for everyone.

5) Big push on SMES. Fixing market inefficiencies including removing large monopolies/regulatory/state captures. Leveling the playing ground for SMEs to thrive.

Nothing fancy.Nothing over-ambitious. Don't expect large infrastructure projects. The economy requires at least two years to recover from Covid/Ukraine blowout.

What I need to hear is outside the box thinking and specifics on these issues, mzee. Eg,after all this time we're mainly still relying on rainwater for farming. In the early 70s a feasibility study found it workable to pump water from L Vic to Timboroa 120 km away at 10000 ft,the highest point west of the highlands providing drinking water and irrigation for all towns and urban centres in the region and the lake basin as it would flow back via simple gravity. The individual towns would be responsible for end consumer distro.
Knowing our climate and the economic challenges ASAL dwellers face what plans are there to reintroduce hunting? Those in the industry are benefiting majorly!

Zebra Rug Pricing
Currently we are offering our beautiful Grade A, genuine zebra skin rugs as low as $2000 each. Please inquire about larger purchases and prices.

And dikdik, gazelles, eland, lions, leopards and on and on and on.

The link to the questionnaire was distributed electronically by the Professional Hunters Association of South Africa (PHASA) as well as by SCI (Safari Club International) to the 7600 hunters who engaged in hunting activities in South Africa during 2015/16 and 362 responses were recorded. The annual amount spend by trophy hunters in this country is US$250 million. Using multiplier analysis based on the Social Account Matrix (SAM) of South Africa, the research revealed that trophy hunting annually contributes more than US$341 million to the South African economy and that it supports more than 17 000 employment opportunities. The agricultural sector benefits the most, holding important implications for rural development and poverty alleviation in the country.

Iow,the neediest at the local level, the skinners, trackers and drivers benefit. That's why every state in the US allows hunting as well as every country in Europe-from Belgium,to the UK and the Scandis they allow wild boar, red stag and moose hunting. But here we burn wildlife trophies worth millions to the empty applause of neurotic Westerners and their local disciples.
Good to see the social housing will continue-its the surest way to poverty reduction but I can't object more to scrapping of the CBC. Living in Africa and among Africans I long ago realised 2 things:
-Nothing is perfect
-Change is ALWAYS resisted
It would be a disaster to succumb to emotional complaints and go back to the 8-4-4 system also for sociocultural reasons. We need to make niggas move out of their comfort zone! We need to learn to make progress, difficult as it may be and not stagnate.
On security we need a fair firearms bureau or a tribunal! I'm the last to advocate arming Somalis, single mothers,Kisiis and Merus with micro uzis but frankly seeing unarmed victims of cattle rustlers constantly crying for police reservists and protection is too much. Fyi,some people in Laikipia have long abandoned cattle keeping! We need a transparent licencing not just for Elites but for all. Rmbr, the Westgate would've been a complete massacre but for the few armed civvies.
If you get me smth solid on these issues before the 30th,the better. If you agree with anything steal my ideas and talk to his team.

NTSA:

It's clear that Nigeria has a higher defence budget than that of SA from almost all available sources.

OMFG! While there may be extra budgetary allocations the key is the per capita spend!
Iow, the breakdown per soldier/sailor/flyguy which translates into better equipment, training, pension, benefits, welfare etc, etc.
I'd rather not name anyone but this endless f'ery will stink up this place it's like ToT!

Shaba Shooting range has 22 bays the event will have a mix of professional shooters and fun lovers as it will be open to the public..Handguns manufactured at Kenya’s Chalbi Industries in will be used

AARRGHHH! Thought it was to be in Kiambu, 20 km outside Nairobi-Shaba is 700 km by road and 30 mns by air. Aiyayaya! I'm also tied up on overdue commitments. SIGHHHH! Anyway observe the convenience of the Glock: most pistol controls are designed to be operated by the right thumb and thus right handed shooters but this guy is a leftie. I can't tell if the model is a Gen 5 which has a reversible mag release.

While the Glock series of handguns has had some ambidextrous functionality for years, the firm increased its appeal to the left-handed market with the introduction of Gen 5.

I agree with the OP that black women in Europe and the USA can be perilous to date. Those in the USA are by far the most damaged by systemic racism, which predisposes them to explosive outbursts of anger that can trigger violence.

If you reside in America, avoid black American women like the plague. They are NOT at all similar to Nigerian or African women. Black American women cuss and swear like drunken sailors constantly, and they will knife or shoot their man without hesitation, even in the absence of any provocation.

Date white, Mexican or Oriental women, if you can woo them, but if you cannot, then you are far better off ALONE, than risking your life dating a black American woman, 90% of whom are grossly overweight and ugly looking anyway, as a result of eating junk food, avoiding all exercise, and instead lavishing what little welfare money they get, on ridiculous, garish colored and elaborate hair styles from hell.

IDK why I'm seeing this now! I know you've seen what you've seen and know what you know but OUCHHHH!?

I had to read that twice.

My father also met Ruto under almost exact same circumstance around the same time.
Previously my father had no time for KANU and it's orphan. Despite us being same tribe with Moi - my father was key DP (Kibaki) supporter.
I grew up also supporting DP - my dad considered kibaki a brilliant leader - so through 90s we supported and voted for him - he use to get 3-5 votes in entire constituency from our family - Moi got everything else.

Long story short - in 2007 I was disappointed with Kibaki tribalism and abandoning the narc dream - esp devolution.federalism - in Bomas - so I joined ODM - my father stuck with Kibaki - distrusting Raila - he was now reduced to 1 vote for Kibaki - in our family.

Of course we have violence and all that - Ruto get appointed to Min of Kilimo. My father and others had been struggling to be allowed to sell their tea to multinationals- who are besides our farms. KTDA had blocked all such attempts despite tea being liberazed (sp) in 1995. Sometimes they would allow it - then block it.

Long story short - Ruto gave my father and his group - a six am appointment - and in 10 minutes solved a problem that had been lingering for almost 20yrs. The battles we had with KTDA were many. Ruto took a phone call - told the MD of KTDA to read the tea act - and smallholder tea farms in my area were allowed to freely sell their tea. In five years our village totally transformed as now people were able to get 40shs per kilo - paid instantly - and didnt have to wait for a year - and there were no quality or tea overstaying - or name it. Biggest problem if you have large tea farms - those quality standards are too exating.

Anyway from then my father was sold. Ruto is one serious guy who report to office at even 5 am in the morning - and is very punctual - and put in real hardwork for long hours.

Kenya in 10yrs with his leadership will change like Ethiopia did under Meles.

Uhuru and Mois are desperate to stop him using Raila - but as long as they have failed to convince your people the kikuyus to board Raila train - Ruto is sleepwalking to statehouse.

We're in agreement as in most cases....but. Frankly,I'm really not impressed with Ruto's recent moves. Firstly there was the abandonment, some say betrayal of Kindiki. Then there's other pronouncements like returning the ICD depots to Mombasa, free diapers for 3 months, 50% women in cabinet that have me rethinking things. I'm yet to hear viable ideas like operationalising the bottom up economic approach via reviving ethnic welfare associations to pool resources for members in group initiatives. Like your Sarun Amabet Welfare association or Myot group but more financially and economically inclined like Luo union or GEMA with group investments in real estate, hospitality, manufacturing etc, etc.
Mzee,as things stand now I may actually sit this one out.
