rasputinn:Good Advice NOT ![]() We will vote Buhari Bakare and we urge you to do the same. But whoever wins we expect him to be a president to all. Our people are more aware now and good dissent is vital in a democracy. No politician should get 100%, this is Naija not Libya or Equitorial Guinea. We wish Goodluck well, I know you wish Buhari well too, hopefully you will put ya hand on that PEN ![]() |
This thread should be on the front page. |
@stranger, I mean disagreements over personalities and other less enduring things are easy to get caught up in, that is life. Human beings are creatures of passion. We even fight "wars" over booti, parking space and other silly stuff. If you look at history you will see plenty examples, wars over stools, flags and other stvpid stuff. Other societies experience it too, we are not unique in that. Our inability to build systems and enshrine an idea based polity just makes it more difficult to look at the big picture, but we can blame a lot of things for that, it will be out of the scope of this thread though. As per GEJ and Buhari, let's not deceive ourselves, the people are the passionate ones not politicians, at least so far. It is ok to support politicians because you want them to do A or B but to see them as infallible is just plain silly. |
fstranger3:Exactly, but unfortunately a lot of less discerning folks tend to get stuck on divisions/fights over ephemeral, less enduring things like personalities and immediate gratification. It is easy to get caught up in those disagreements, So we often need to calm down and force ourselves to look at the big picture, that is the point in here. |
naijababe:That is the point. And yes I agree with you. The words in bold captures the essence of the thread. |
^^ I don't think the burden was placed on goodluck or any particular person, as a matter of fact, the burden is on ALL of us. It is ok to see divisions in an election atmosphere, I expect no one to set criticism aside even after the elections, but I expect an acceptance of a fair result, I'm not looking for 100% perfection. This is a democracy after all. That is the point of my post. |
I don't know why they can't agree on an alliance, but as long as we get a fair election, not the rigging of last week, we should just let the people decide. Personally I think Nigeria needs radical changes that Buhari will bring. But their inability to form an alliance should be blamed on both sides. Let us keep working on getting people to recognize the choices they have. Maybe the very close election results that might come out on Saturday will make everybody humble and ally at the end. I'm definitely proud of Young Nigerians who've taken it upon themselves to own this process by campaigning, collaborating and contributing with unprecedented passion and amazing resolve. I have great hope for Nigeria with some of the amazing people on this thread as comerades. It is humbling and heartwarming indeed. |
It is telling to see how unpopular this thread has been since Jarus posted it on April 6, before the NASS elections. I think it's time to revisit it again. This is not war, no matter who wins this election, GEJ, Buhari or Ribadu. I think Nigerians have done good for themselves, the level of passion displayed on and offline by those with the time and resource to engage in this process has been unprecedented. Like I mentioned earlier last week, whoever wins this election will have a tough job, a more demanding job than previous leaders and a more aware electorate to deal with. This can only be good for Nigeria and Nigerians. We are not at war and we shouldn't be but we've displayed unbelievable interest and passion spurred by information Technology explosion and a younger, more aware electorate. Let us resolve to support the winner and keep holding them accountable. Although I support Buhari in the absence of a Ribadu alliance. BUT if GEJ wins in a free and fair election, I will pour a glass of palmwine and drink to his health and good judgement on behalf of us and our coming generation. I have great hope for Nigeria as long as we maintain this same level of political involvement. Congratulations to Presidents Goodluck Jonathan-Muhammadu Buhari-Nuhu Ribadu Congratulations to My Naija people. |
Alj Uche:Alhaji no mind these people jare, I had to shakara them small ![]() I'm not against Tinubu, although I'm not a fan of his heavy handed politics. But i understand Nigerian politics is a jungle situation. That should not mean that a good alliance plan should pivot on Tinubu's VP request, What the hell does he want to do with central VP and minister positions? The same mistake Bola Ige made. If he was negotiating for state police and say immediate take off grant for the Olokola project or increased funding for specific initiatives, I will even understand a bit. VP? Fola Adeola or Bakare as VP is ok IMO. just stick to developing your region and pushing progressive initiatives across Nigeria. |
TInubu's role is not as a political officeholder. That is not how he should serve the nation's interests. If he is somehow smuggled into VP, I become against the alliance. I am in support of most of those ideas.
I agree with you in principle, if this alliance talk is just about sharing positions and making Tinubu VP, I'm totally against that kind of small mindedness. what happened to ideas? ![]() I don't know the details though. |
Beaf:Forget about sentiments. IBB is in PDP, same with Atiku who is a known political cross carpeter, they will make deals with anybody. BUT, the deal we know for sure is their long term PDP alliance, they still contested with GEJ a few weeks back in the same party. Yes ,we sometimes see these people together, they were in the military together, but if we are to stick with what we know about their politics since they retired, It will be disingenuous to align IBB and Atiku with Buhari. Is IBB in CPC? NO! I stand corrected, I may be wrong, but I don't think he was ever in ANPP with Buhari. Atiku ? no Buhari ran campaigns against these people and their PDP allies since 1999. They are all still card carrying members of the PDP. It it unfair for you to now throw them to the Buhari camp when GEJ is clearly still meeting and negotiating with IBB, ATIKU and Ciroma as you admitted I like how we are both rejecting these long term PDP idio/ts like HIV though. Atiku, IBB and Ciroma belongs to the old school PDP pro-estalishment camp that GEJ represents, let's not pass them to Buhari now that we know they are toxic. Turai's daugher contested Saturday and lost on the PDP ticket, but you keep pushing these people to the Buhari side. |
Beaf:Bros, I don't even think that IBB and Atiku wants Buhari in power. ![]() If you are talking about the reported meetings, then that is just funny, IBB and Atiku are PDP, GEJ already had several meetings with them, he ran with them and is probably drinking tea with those guys as we type. They are establishment PDP, pro corruption, pro status quo guys, let's not get carried away, they will probably run to Seme border if Buhari wins ![]() |
Beaf:Beaf this is not an ethnic majority versus ethnic minority political struggle. I agree it is an oppressed versus oppressor battle. Let us agree that Buhari offers a better hope for justice for we the oppressed. PDP will keep on ra/p/ing our people. . . |
efisher:Good one bro! My brother, I'm actually hoping for better than 50% for our resource states, they more than deserve it. With a Buhari government bent on ensuring fair play reducing corruption and removing immunity for these looters, Na to dey rejoice and dance from Ilaje-land to Bonny. Let us look on the positive side, GEJ has ran a tough campaign but it is time to rescue ALL of our people. Atiku, Anenih, OBJ, IBB, Ibori dem dem will be the losers. Let these young progressives -Ribadu, Adeola, Utomi e.t.c- work with Papa Buhari to give us a Nigeria we can be proud of. It is for our own good, ALL or us. Deal? Oya, remove Goodluck from your signature and put BUHARI 2011 ![]() It's still a rumor though. |
Beaf: Beaf:I've heard people offer the same fear-mongering opinion on ground. I know some people actaully fear that. Let's not allow politicians turn our people into target practice, this is Nigeria not Somalia. We negotiate. Buhari will do South South well and give them their resource while preventing their governors from looting them dry. No immunity for looters. South South people are not unreasonable, let's stop listening to warlords ![]() |
jason123:Calm down. it is just Nairaland rumor for now, no confirmation yet. Besides, in an atmosphere of justice -with a Buhari Presidency- NO-ONE will be relegated. SS might actually get to keep most of their resources with a weak center, It's a WIN-WIN situation for everybody. It is still Nairaland rumor though ![]() |
Let us calm down though, this is not confirmed yet, we all know this is crazy season. Let us calm down ![]() |
Lagosboy:Don't listen to these people. if the news is true, it seem it is; Fola Adeola turned a little known bank into a financial behemoth in record time, Tinubu did same with ACN and a totally unknown Fashola. Our people are not dum/b, they know the value of a PEN, they can put the BROOM down and pick the PEN up in record time. ![]() I feel sorry for those supporting PDP, that nest of killers. |
It is now up to YOU I mean YOU to vote and be ready to defend your vote. The time has come to rescue Nigeria from the hands of the military-politician usurpers holding us to ransom. Vote for Buhari and stand-by to defend his mandate for the sake of our children! |
I'm hearing news too. . . we'll wait for official word. Now Buhari has my full attention ![]() |

Why do the north always step down for each other just so they do not split the Northern vote?!
