Even in abj, parks are free.
For example, most parks in abj were created and maintained by private companies.
People go there to have fun any time.
Free to enter, free to go out. Huncu stop lying. Not all parks are free. |

pol23: All this states does is just pay salary... No plan,no strategic investment to boost their IGR.... Even Lagos with the biggest IGR is just lucky due to the federal infrastructure when Lagos was the capital...Ever since 1999 no Government in Lagos state has done a major project... If Sanwolu can actually complete the monorail that will be the first major project since 1999...while the state has over N30 bn monthly IGR..it's a big slap on our face. ...[s]Sadly those oil rich state should bow their heads in shame too... Comparing their monthly allocation With their size and population ,Oyo state shouldn't come close to any of them, but Sadly it's only Rivers that can stand with OYO...their governors will THIEF all the money and they will tell their indigenes its FG's Fault... FG is bad,but with the huge allocations those Niger Delta state has, they should be able to function and run excellently without extra help from FG.... Lastly all those stupid local goverment chairman should be hang with their balls... Alimosho LG in Lagos receives over N800,000,000.00 monthly and absolutely nothing to show for it... Eto-Osa receives over N450,000,000.00 and I haven't seen a single project by the local government in my over 5 years of living and working within this axis. If we actually tackle this stupid people at the root, our problem will be half solved... Last last.... Oyo state built the then tallest building in Africa (Cocoa house) with the proceeds from cocoa and other agricultural produce in 1965...Over 50 years ago... and now they can't even get N1 billion naira from Agriculture a month in 2020...The business that yielded so much money 50 years ago should almost be as big the Crude oil exports... I hope Seyi Makinde can revive that industry.... Crude oil in the Niger Delta region is the cause of our problem and it's a blessing with many CURSE... Then we also have the Northern states that are nothing but a burden... As poor as Zamfara state is,they allocated a billion naira for graveyard maintenance Sometimes last year..and I almost cry when I read the news...it's sad,it's sad,it's sad[/s]. Crude is your problem then tell your oyo government to stop running to FG monthly to collect allocation. Since you feel the Niger Delta should be ashamed you oyo man should be more more ashamed for being unable to survive without the Niger Delta. The Niger Delta bleed so that you can survive, you need to be thankful. |

Abagworo: [s]Not exactly true. Chinese are a million times richer than Africa but know how to harness business opportunities from us. Truth is that Akwaibomites are far more hardworking and innovative than Rivers people. Akwaibom of today is even Richer than Rivers if oil is the standard applied but they don't sit down and depend on what will come out as handout from oil exploration companies. Some Rivers people especially Ogoni and Etche are hardworking too but most others believe they are comfortable with handouts[/s]. When they talk about riches you are counting just crude oil, I guess with your analysis Saudi Arabia should be the richest country in the world. I'm yet to see where the harwork and innovation has taken AKS to compared to Rivers. Please I need you to show me. |

When Gov. Udom is busy building factories, from string, Airline to rice mill creating job opportunities in Akwa ibom.
Your here talking about pleasure park. Just respect yourself!!! Wow so Wike has completed 8 years? I believe this your post is just for cheap likes. In Rivers building factories is not the sole responsibility of the government rather private enties do it as well without noise making or opening thread to celebrate. A state like AKS decides to build factories, does not mean others should do same. The amount of factories alone in Rivers already even before Wike is more than anything AKS has till date. Please where is the job in AKS apart from civil service and keke driving? |

Spiff20: that's because Akwa Ibom was empty, they had to span out across the nation in search of opportunities and even now that they are coming up, relocating back is still a problem. Port Harcourt became a melting pot in the oil boom. Everyone wanted to come to the city and then you expect it's indigenes to leave that melting pot and travel out? Just free that one. He thinks getting to moon is an achievement when others are already in Mars. Comparing Akwa Ibom to Rivers is an insult. Akwa Ibomites move out of their state even till date because nothing to do there. The only thing that attracts people to it is Mobil. Even with mobil it's mostly offshore staff that live there, 90% of the contractors and vessels still go to mobil locations from PH/Onne. 80% of Mobil contractors reside in PH. Rivers gives you more opportunities than any other state in Nigeria bar Lagos and Abuja. |

No one says there are no unemployed persons in Rivers. However you cannot compare the level of job opportunities in AKS to Rivers. Akwa Ibom is a civil service state. Unless you are happy with the mushroom factories the governor is setting up. For me I see no reason why the OP brought an old park up. It's nothing new in Rivers, the people that celebrate stuffs like this are mostly Akwa ibom. To them things like this are big achievement. Theres no way you'll be thinking of job opportunities in Nigeria and you will mention AKS of all places, na wah ooo... |

Some places are more prone to flooding than others no matter how well you plan to avoid it. However concerning Akwa Ibom State, not every hype you see on nairaland you should believe. Besides the hype the people themselves celebrate any little achievement they make eg last week they were celebrating a COVID-19 testing lab, they even made a thread here for it, something that has been in existence in 21 states of the nation without noise making.
