One thing we can all practical agree on here is cultism is bad and a waste of time but in terms of reformation I’m actually shocked on how NAS turned out I wouldn’t say they went under total reformation but yeah always going to be some bad eggs (I’m not saying go and join Pyrates o) then I would say BAN is going along that path. Then maybe Aye in a couple of years. Hear me out!

NAS is not really brought up as much as other cults when it comes to clashes they do accept that there is some hoodlums and touts in their fraternity but they really underwent strict laws to help weed out the touts and street players.

BAN is trying to do the same but they just straight up deny them instead of actually trying to revoke people on the streets affiliation to the fraternity.

I can see somehow NBM might do this in the next 20years or so because all this cultism thing is really starting to get out of hand.

Eiye will never reform please don’t even try argue with me I rarely hear older members say “you know what let’s stop all this bloodshed do more for the community try to be a real fraternity and not like all these killing cults” only very few, it’s more like try to get to the top of the ranks before you graduate and turn into a world bird so you have a lot of power.

I just been through the last couple of threads. Someone was talking about how the police know these criminals and yet appear to be ineffective against criminal gang cases.

The police may know the criminals but may not know who did what at a particular time. To know where a particular person was at a particular time, his role in an incident and how much damage or devastation he caused is what a solid case is built on and how we can lock criminals and gang members away. Without video evidence, they have to rely on key witnesses which we all know are hard to come by in Nigeria today.

There was a case of a cultist who went to kill another in his house. When he was arrested people in his own house testified that he was at home that night (out of fear, of course) while the people at the victim’s house said he was at their area the same night and murdered the victim. These kind of cases can only be resolved by key witnesses. Because after you still confirm his true location, maybe using the celltower signal on his phone at the time, you still have to prove that he indeed murdered the victim. The celltower signal wont give you that information. Only key witnesses can.

Also cases where known criminals are being released after serving a short time in jail are mostly down to this, lack of credible & actionable information & key witnesses. No matter how many people you know someone has killed; if he’s arrested with a gun during a stop and search, unless people come forward, he will be charged for illegal possession of firearm and would most likely do a much lesser sentence than he would have for multiple murders. Its that simple. I acknowledge that there’s fraud in the system as well but this is just about our civic responsibility and where we come short as citizens.

All the great Police force in the world rely on witnesses. Without which, their work will be tough. The blame is often neither with the NPF or citizens as both are limited by circumstances beyond their control. We need to go back to having a strong communal system. A jail-breaker should not be living with law abiding citizens who know who he is & watch him wreck havoc and appear to be okay with it. In the developed countries we like to imitate, that would never happen.

There’s the fear of reprisal attacks on people who ‘snitch’ on gang members and I acknowledge that the danger is real but lets change with the time and get ahead. We cant continue to be idle and useless. One can open a twitter account with fictitious names & a good VPN to hide location and IP. With this offer credible & actionable intel to the police via their twitter handle on criminal gang activity or location. There are VOIP apps that will sell a Nigeria number; with which to call or text police and cant be traced to you. And you can choose to share info with state command offices or the police public response unit who’ll in turn pass it on to local police incase the local police connive with criminals & gang members in the area. So lets be inventive. At least if anything, report a jail breaker who continues to be a danger to the community.

The problem with some people is that they are not tactful in conversations especially on religion which is a dicey issue. For the record, I am not a Muslim but I believe all faiths should be respected. His bringing the Muslim faith as an analogy to suit his point was very unnecessary. If he thinks otherwise, thats his opinion. Lets move on please.

One of the prisoner that escaped just killed another person some few hours ago. The guys is one of the key factor fuelling the ongoing cult war in Benin, most of you should know him by now. He runs things in upper, an Eiye man.


A friend just told me he shot and killed one old Aye on his back as a retaliation. To one of his boy that was shot, he said aye killed 3 eiye and this jail guy went on a revenge mission. That's not the first story of him murdering someone since he left prison, I have heard several more.

What broke my heart was when my friend told me that both him and the Aye killing each other all grew together in same area like family, imagine brothers killing each other for colour?

Peaceful wetin? Do you know how many peaceful dialogues has been done on cultism matter? Wasn't it like 4 years ago that the Obas in Ikorodu, Religious leaders and the police organized a peace forum where all cults came together for peace. They played music, vibed together and signed peace treaties. It didnt take up to 3 months, war enter again. This same peace tactics has been employed in many other states and has continually failed. The main president that fought the biggest war against cultism was Obasanjo. He gave cultism bad publicity, encouraged renunciations and jailed convicted cultists. Only for the laws to be laxed a little and it came back in full. Untill a forceful zero-tolerance approach is employed by the government, nothing will change. Just keep telling the youths you love the ills of this madness and protect yourself.

Growing up in the 90s, gang news we heard abroad were only from the Italian Mafia. If we can have a leader who will go all out against cultism, give jail terms to any confirmed member.
