I believe the water dripping out from the from your exhaust is due to the catalytic converter(aka indomie) doing its job of converting harmful fumes into harmless water.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that engine is sound, it only means that your catalytic converter is intact and working properly.

Working catalytic converter does cause mist and water drops from exhaust. But even cars that have no catalytic converters will mist and drop water on cold start up. Water misting abs dripping from exhaust is due to condensation forming especially in humid or cold weather.

I've a Nissan Altima 2012 with a problematic CVT gear. The gear chain cut into 2 thereby making it impossible for the car to move even when gear is shifted to drive. A new chain was installed but it was discovered that the car doesn't move very well when the gear is engaged but it revved very well when in idle. Another gear was mounted with the old gear brainbox and it was discovered that it doesn't change to 2 or 3 or 4, even when it moved very well.

CVT don’t have shift points or gear changes. All you experience were mere computer simulated shifts. CVT is basically a band of chain or belt that moves between two conical surfaces. Have a competent technician handle that or better still replace that transmission and have rest of mind.

It’s not a sure way to determine if an engine is good or not. An engine could have droplets and mist on cold start but next minute it throws a rod!

Especially in cold times of the year, it’s normal. It’s condensate that was formed as your engine cooled prior to your starting it.

You don’t need to lie to gain cheap validation. From le Meridian to Nsukara Offot you have about 3 or 4 fuel stations (lucky fuel station and Uniuyo fuel station), after UniUyo permanent site till you get to Plaza you have over 6 filling stations to choose from. I know Uyo like the back of my hands.

More like 08-10 model. 2011-12 models have rear passenger vents in the EX models which this is.

That said, it is looking clean and lovely.

Time to consult a professional for further inspection I called a nairalander resident in Abuja to assist on inspection the following day, the guy sounding sleepy told me his inspection fee is 80k. Shior! Even after introducing myself as a nairalander but man insisted on his price. I was thinking 30k could've gotten me a good deal but then again I decided to consult nairaland thread itself. Yes...nairaland. There's a thread Gazzuzz dealt extensively on purchasing a used Nigerian vehicle. I quickly read up and arm with the knowledge I proceed to do the inspection myself moreover Mercedes Benz self diagnose.

After thorough investigation, I notice the following need attention; Airconditioner, one of the leg is shaking, broken interior parts, back fender, discharging battery due to to either failed alternator or battery, turn seats, bad tires, unregistered car, car due for service, lack of tracker, paint need new wear, and some non functional electronics system. This young man really abused this car, of a truth the car was way above his income level and suffered the consequence.

Putting all of this fixes into consideration, I decided to negotiate 600k off price for possible repairs and we stuck a deal. I was willing to ride or die.

We did the paper work and I paid. Car handed to me and I am here now to document repairs. This car has been barely used to be precise about 9 months but the wear and tear or rather abuse could equate a car that has been driven for 8 years. Tiny feet in an oversized shoe.

Your average speeds will be more like 45-90km/h if you do drive from Abuja to Lokoja. You have potholes and bad road sections to contend with, police and military checkpoints, light traffic too. Average speeds is the amount of speed your vehicle is moving at for most of the time during a journey. It’s different from instantaneous or current speeds.

Where is the car located?

1st, get the ATF level gauged, if it’s low on ATF, add adequate amount of ATF.
If this does not work, replace the transmission.

Good morning Op,
I drove from Lagos to Abuja on Friday and the Jos the next day. A few pointers though,
1. Leave early, 5am if possible, there’s some construction at Obajana so the re route would take you an hour or two if it rains.
2. Omuo roads are terrible so give and take another hour added to ETA.
3. Have your wipers, headlights and defogger checked, it’s pretty difficult to drive late while it’s raining if any of these aren’t working properly.
4. Enjoy the trip, your first leg(Abuja to lokoja) is very good, make up for the time you’d lose on that road, Godspeed brother, please keep us updated.
