dru23: For how long sir? Acura ZDX are meant to be driven fast .. This is the type of car you take on long journey highway and drive fast to open up all the engine valves.. It is called the breaking in period of the car. This will allow the engine to breath Bro, I beg to differ on your understanding of breaking in. Break in occurs when a car is bought from factory brand new till 1,000 miles. The driver varies speed of the engine and does not load the engine to high rpm’s usually below 4000 rpms. Upshift early and be easy with luggage and passengers so as not to put strain and stress on the drive train. But this ACURA ZDX, probably is more than 120,000 miles on the dash needs no break in procedure except the engine was rebuilt recently or a brand new engine (not tokunbo) was installed into it. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Why I Resigned From My Job As A Pastor In Winners Chapel And Became A Babalawo by kingreign(m): 8:22am On Jun 03, 2022 |
Beosten: In my formative years, we were three fiery brothers practising Christianity in Iwo town -- two of us very poor, but with strange will to survive. After secondary education and with nothing to live for, first among us was a talented beggar. As the second guy, my mother is late, and my father's whereabout was unknown. So, the first guy and I were living in one of the three houses I knew belonged to the father of the 3rd guy, but the father didn't care about the 3rd guy, though. The first guy is a genius in gathering monies through request for "urgent 2k" -- we lived on this for years.
Miraculously, I and the 3rd guy obtained degrees in science and administration respectively; the first guy obtained a degree in theology and became the chaplain of a university Chapel.
But those days as a fiery Christian, I lost 40% of my hearing. The last time I visited the first guy of a chaplain, he needed me to source urgent 5k for him. Just this morning, the 3rd guy called me that he has bone fractures and is receiving treatment at the Ogbomosho general hospital. He needs money at least for feeding, but none is forthcoming. Let me add that the first guy is in Baptist, I was in Winners Chapel while the 3rd guy is a Mountain of Fire adherent.
Then I joined the ministry in Winners Chapel. Oratory is still my best physical gift -- those in Winners Chapel Adeeke, Iwo in 2005 will remember me by the name Yinka. I had studied the scriptures from "paali to paali"; prayer sessions I handled those days looked like wartime events. While in the university, I was sent to pastor a new church in another town and did so successfully. But when I started full-time ministry, what you would usually call hosts of hell came banging at my door. They would tell me what would happen the following day and they would come to pass. They would tell me Mr A was at my door while I was still sleeping by 6:30am and that would be so.
Later, those spirits told me why I am on earth, and if I neglect my path, I would regret being born. They said I'm a Babalawo by design. I quickly went on overdrive binding "thoughts that may setup their selves against God's knowledge and every disobedience..." Then I would hear strange laughter of a group of persons suggesting the spirits were many. Then I traveled to see a primary school mate who is making waves as a general overseer of a church. All his prayers or deliverance made no difference.
Then voices started threatening me and commanded me to go to a village whose name I never heard hitherto saying that someone is waiting for me there. I googled the name of the town and I found it. I went there because previous messages didn't fail. I met the person and the priestess gave a stern warning that refusing to work for the gods would be a deadly decision. I accepted the calling right away.
But divination is not that easy to learn. I know someone who spent eight years on it. I became a pro within five months by some rare twists of events and within nine months, I became a full-blown Babalawo.
I'm tempted to say that Christians practice something different from what the Bible taught me. In 2020, my daughter was on life support at Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomosho. The bills were clearly beyond what my 50k salary could handle. I requested for help from the church hierarchy by calling the district pastor, and he said I should follow a correct route in channelling my request. I replied that I first of all called the area pastor who directed me and gave me his number to call. The district pastor started sounding offensive. That was why I came to nairaland and made a thread for help.
https://www.nairaland.com/5637056/meconium-aspiration-syndrome-baby
A nairalander sent a huge amount of money to me in the following thread to clear hospital bills.
https://www.nairaland.com/5641659/leave-patient-hospital-because-lack#86385594
I tendered a resignation letter in Winners Chapel in 2021 with two weeks notice. Before the notice elapsed and till today, I never heard anything from them about my resignation. But when the district church mistakenly paid a sum of money into my bank account after I had left (that money ought to be sent to the current pastor of the church) I told the accountant and he asked me to refund it immediately. While working there, I never had any history of misconduct. They treated me as though I never existed; that action reduced me to a new low, lower than the basest of animals...
The following advice is indispensable: life is not all about money; you're here on a certain assignment.
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=5277426729005304&id=100002140864850 Going by the scripture which reads, Luke 9:62 “Jesus replied, ‘No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” And, Proverbs 24:10 “If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.” It showed you were never a strong Christian, you always had doubt and fears about who you are and who’s vineyard you are working upon. It also shows you were a lukewarm Christian. These are the kinds of people God warns Christians about. Well, good luck in your endeavors. |

dboY1123: It is a month already that my mom died in my hands.. I am really depressed!! I have been seeing life as nothing and vanity, I can't get over her, memories with her kept coming back really hard I tried to keep myself busy by watching movies, playing games and so on..But that doesn't stop my mind from remembering her.
These days, nothing bothers me again, not even life or death, I still have a father but it doesn't change things..
There was a time I went to school (my ppa), my proprietor was trying to pacify me by talking about when he lost his wife back then and everything, I started feeling uneasy and extremely tired..it wasn't stress at all my stomach started aching and I felt like vomiting or even passing out..he noticed it and I quickly left his presence and I went back home to shower and rest..
Please how can I get over my mom, I'm so obsessed with her and her memories kept coming in my head that every time I felt I could have done something to rescue her despite everything I did, taking her to state hospitals and even private.. I am the last born and I am about 29years..I have elder ones like 45(first born) but I took so much responsibilities when she was sick and I was only the one she could call everytime she's depressed due to memory loss..I later found out her sickness was related to heart failure and it was congestive heart failure she was going through.. All those times we thought she had nocturnal asthma like early last year..
It was only last month we knew that it was cardiomyopathy or cardiomegaly heart related.. The general hospitals we took her too didn't say anything like that, one of them only said her liver seemed bigger than the normal one..And we thought it was edema cz her legs were swollen.. So, it was heart related disease and it led to cardiac arrest or heart attack cz she just vomited and stopped breathing all of a sudden.. I totally understand and can relate to the way you feel cos my dad died in my arms in the hospital due to cardiac. You need people around you to make you happy, keep you busy and take your mind off the sad memories you’re having. It’s a hard phase you’re passing thru and I pray you find solace in the fact that you are carrying on the good legacies your mom left behind. Do feel free to chat me up at anytime. Pls do accept my condolences and may your mom’s soul rest in perfect peace. Amen! |

dru23: Majority of brands of cars are Japanese USA spec cars. Look at Lagos alone .. Look at the number of corolla plying the road........
Nigerians are so picky that if is not Toyota car they are not buying.. Even in the North that Peugeot cars used to be the norm , you will see Honda civics ........ Go to all the car stand in Lagos and do a case study and see how many Europeans cars compare to Japanese cars.....
That been said , USA engine oil are formulated to meet with the specifications of the manufacture.
Once you open up your engine oil cap. It tells you type of oil to use.
That is the oil you should use, now for God known reason if that particular oil is not available in the country that the car is been driven, you can read owners manual for alternative oil .... But in most cases the recommended spec is usually available.....
Owners should always go by the engine oil cover. Plain and simple . no need to make life difficult You make an erroneous assumption that the whole cars in Nigeria is Japanese US made cars. I ask you this question, have you gone to other parts of Nigeria apart from Lagos to see the majority of cars driven there? You say owners should goby the engine cover, what if these engine covers have been swapped out prior to the ownership of these cars by their current owners without their knowledge? |
Car Talk › Re: Oil Burning Issues by kingreign(m): 10:01am On May 31, 2022 |
dru23: 1. You brought up European car brand.. How many are actually driving this types of car.. There is reason why most tokunbo cars are from the USA .... You can't compare this cars to the USA specs... This is why these European cars don't last and are not in demand.....
Apart from that , the manual here is so confusing .. Unlike the USA spec .. The manufacture recommendation is on the oil cap .. Plain and simple A LOT of cars in Nigeria are of European and Asian export both Brand new or Used. The manual is confusing you say? I give up!!! |

AKINSULU: Thanks Dru23 and Gazzuzz. I switched from 5W40 to 20W50 (both total), I have been using 20w50 for over one year now and do oil change at every 2000 miles (I cover 2000 miles in less than two months because I do more of interstate travel)
I want to switch from total 20w50 to seahorse 20w50 (as I will have to top with 3 to 4 liters of oil before my oil change at 2000 miles, no engine smoke of any form) as it looks thicker, hoping not to do more than 2 liters before my oil change.
Is it safe to switch or I should stick to my total 20w50.
In summary I just need oil with thicker viscosity. Car mileage is around 150k.
Thanks There are better brands of 20W50 other than Seahorse. You have CEPSA, MOBIL, TOTAL etc. Get your oils from reputable brands and outlets. My humble submission |
Car Talk › Re: Oil Burning Issues by kingreign(m): 7:14am On May 31, 2022*. Modified: 7:53am On May 31, 2022 |
dru23: No need to switch.. That 20w50 is not the recommended oil for the car .... Since u stated that u need thicker oil .. It means your engine is on its last leg . better u start saving for new engine ....
Cost of imported goods is not looking sexy at all ... The naira is not looking sexy at all ... If car owners fail to maintain their cars during this period na parts sellers will be cashing out The bolded comment is NOT true. An engine may experience wear and tear such that it would require a more thicker oil but it does NOT mean it’s on its last legs heading to death. It only mean the piston rings may had worn out a bit or the cylinder walls had worn out a bit and this won’t cause significant issues. Do NOTE, many car manufacturers specify even 10W40, 10W50 etc for their engines at brand new depending on the region the car will be operating in and the availability of thinner free flowing oils.

Itsrm: Agreed. Neither does high mileage. Chances of having better reliability is higher with low mileage vehicles.
Maintenance or no maintenance, high mileage is when you start having issues with failing door actuators, windows not rolling down or not coming up after rolling down, and plenty other little things that add up. What if at one point in the car owners possession, these things failed and were replaced or repaired with genuine brand new OEM or higher quality aftermarket parts? Ever heard of Dealership maintained cars? |

Cc Egunmogaji2, Gazzuzz, Kingreign, Femtopford, diportivo et al
Nigerian consumer experience is in focus here
Lalasticlala They’re not necessarily meant for older engines. They’re meant for cars which have the known defect of excessive oil burn due to defective PCV or breather valve designs. They’re meant to trap oils in the valve top which the PCV loses. It’s beneficial to not only GDI but MPI engines too especially those with badly designed PCV and headers which can trap excessive air and vapors. |

UPDATE During the Easter break, I decided to go back to pick up the freezer since nothing was done to remedy the situation and there’s no end in sight to how long I’d stay without hearing from HAIER THERMOCOOL. The freezer paint looked faded in some parts.
Just last week, my wife called me to inform me that the freezer stopped cooling. The green power light still comes on, but the freezer doesn’t cool anymore. I’ve never used a generator to power this freezer, whenever it’s low voltage, the freezer is disconnected from the mains and I always use a voltage stabilizer to run this freezer.
Talk about poor quality product! |
