Good morning bro.

I have been hearing rattling noise at a cold start whenever I start my car for a while, then later on the rpm always has a high start of 2 and it will come down to 1.5.

I scanned the car and it shows Camshaft, my mechanic said the noise is coming from the timing chain. I have never opened the engine before since I bought the car and the engine has never been opened, it took us a while before we opened it.

After opening it, we saw part of the damper on top on the timing chain is broken and the chain is moving freely. He then said we have to open the side of the engine that side that the alternator are fixed so that we can look for the missing part of the damper to prevent it from causing more damage. It failed off after he opened the side.

But it cause damage to the gear teeth of one of the camshafts,the front one, it also spoiled the sprocket. That's all. Today I am going to buy these 3 items

Any advice? And would the car efficiency be normal again like before opening the engine. I don't like the idea of opening engine but I don't have a choice it is necessary as not to cause further damage. The mechanic is really good.

My car idle rpm fluctuates. Sometimes too high and after driving for some minutes it will go down. And most times it will go so low while driving which makes d car to off sometime (most especially in traffic). Sometime it will be difficult for the car to restart because the battery will appear so weak to restart the car. I’ve changed battery and also work on the alternator when I was informed it was doing slow charging.
Whenever throttle body is cleaned it will get better for like 2 days and start misbehaving again.
Base on my rewire suggestion to stop the slow charging issue, I decided to change the throttle body yesterday but surprisingly the RPM has remained above 1 since and even this morning when I start the car it was so high almost getting to 2000rpm at idle. The mechanic guy told me that it will normalise with Time which I don’t know how long it will take.
Please what could be the next thing I will do to get a normal rpm?

Change Mechanic, get the right belt routing for that car, check ALL pulleys and their grooves to ensure they're straight, smooth, and are aligned.

My 2010 honda crv temperature gauge rises to almost high whenever I'm on the express.

But whenever I'm within the streets or inner roads, it doesn't go past the middle.

The fans are connected directly and it runs with water (plan to revert to factory setting as soon as I figure out what the problem is)

So the temperature shouldn't go beyond the halfway mark at all but it does and happens when I'm only on the express

Some are saying water pump, others are saying radiator.

Don't want to do trial and error

Check radiator, fan, water pump. If any is bad, replace the part.

Inability to drive has deprived me opportunity from getting a job and as I don't have money to pay and be trained by a driving school, I decided to use online resources to learn it.

Steps:

Put the car on neutral before turning it on or press the clutch pedal if it's on gear.

Start the car

Press the accelerator pedal and release your foot from the clutch pedal slowly and the car is on motion.

Press the clutch pedal again to change gear.

Press the break pedal alongside the clutch pedal to slow down and bring the car to a stop.

And so on.

With these, I pray I'm good as I am about to pick up a driving job.

Pray for me and other road users.

I can't stay jobless anymore especially with penniless pocket.

Learning to drive on an internet is very very different from driving from real life. Driving requires you to be fit, be able to make very quick defensive driving decisions and also to be able to make evasive maneuvers in a manner that does NOT put you, your property,the other people and their property at risks. The feel of online simulation is very different from that of real life test.

Go to a proper licensed driving school please.

To be candid, silence of an engine majorly has to do with the design of its timing (chain or belt), camshaft and valves.

Even if you put 20w50 oil inside that your engine it will still be silent as it is today. Bad oil tends to do it's damage after miles of use and not just immediately.

Wrong.
A much more thicker oil weight than is factory specified can make an engine idle sound louder, make its lifters noisier, valve to tick, make its chain run noisier and cause more rapid wear to the engine. This is due to the stress of the engine oil pump trying to pump such thick oil to the various parts of the engine at cold start which will take a longer time compared to when it's the recommended oil.

My car developed one fault and i wanted to check if anyone has experienced and has an idea what it could be

After the man fix am, i go carry the car
I noticed on my way it wasn’t moving well and the gear wasn’t selecting well
(Note: i had not driven it much)
And was really entering reverse and drive with force like “ gbim”(a loud thud)
So i parked to check the gear oil because i know when they remove radiator some of the oil will leak
Lon and behold the dip stick didn’t have oil on it,
I sha bought a dextron 3 oil to top it up and drove home but it didn’t stop change much
The car was revving high and no selection or change in gear
But i didn’t speed
Was just going home jejely

Next morning i took it to gear guy and he settled down and opened it and said gear is gone and that fiber is burnt but i didn’t smell anything burnt
All i could smell was hot gear oil normally
He said he will try his best that it should work. He sha bought abro cleaner, he loosened some of the solenoid on the gear and cleaned it and fixed them
And Coupled everything
Lo and behold
We took it for a test drive and it worked ok

The issue came back again on my way home when i parked to get something
I wanted to reverse and it engaged but loudly and drive same thing and gear didn’t change
I called the guy, he now said i should disconnect battery head and connect it back after 5 minutes and check
Lo and behold it stopped and it drive smoothly and selected gears appropriately
But anytime i off car and i want to start it again and i don’t disconnect battery for few seconds and plug it back
The problem comes
But if i disconnect battery
It works fine until i of the car again..

I didn’t believe the burnt gear thing
When i called the gear guy back and told him i need to disconnect battery to always reset
He said i will buy gear and that it’s gone
But i don’t seem to buy this because i took it to someone else that does gear (mechanical) (first guy was gear electrician) the person said nothing burnt
And that if gear is truly burnt, and scattered as he said , why does it work when i disconnect battery and plug back?
That it’s probably something electrical
Although i go go scan am tomorrow sha
But has anyone experienced anything of such ??

The fx35 in question is a 2005 model with 280hp..but that power has to deal with a hefty curb weight and relatively high centre of gravity.. Deduce from that what you wish..

The same engine in a G35 will perform better due to an amelioration of the above factors... So stop comparing apples to oranges

An FX35 2003-2004 had 260hp, in 2006 it was updated to 298hp. Same engine found in a G35, M35 same transmission. You should know what a VQ35DE is, it's a very potent power train way ahead of its time like wise the bionic cheetah sports cross over FX.

At the bolded, Infiniti designed and created the G35 and FX35 for performance before luxury was thought of.

There is nothing speedster or high performance about an FX35... A same-year Camry or Accord v6 will smoke it anytime any day, while providing better fuel economy .... The FX35 has a nice exhaust note and aggressive stance yeah, but that's about it.. But performance no be by muscular build or baritone exhaust sound.

Its elder brothers the FX45 and FX50 with v8 engines are another kettle of fish tho...

You dont compare SUVs and sedans, by the way, this vehicle will disgrace any Lexus SUV, Acura MDX 1st gen, ML350 and some others.

My 2008 RX 350 has been having transmission issues since April . It doesn't select properly and acceleration is always difficult. At times it jerk forward before picking up then it will slow down.

Two mechanics have tried to fix the problem but the issue still persist. I got a guy that later assisted to run scan on the vehicle and one of the error codes is P0746 Pressure control solenoid A performance or stuck off.

The guy said the error code has to do with the " "valve body " in the gear.

Has anyone experienced similar issue and what was done to fix it.

Replace transmission and rest.

1) Understanding what the issue is

2) The right solution and best way to go about it.

The car is ML350 4matic. From my knowledge through research, here is how I can describe it.

Serpentine Belt sucked inside the engine. the belt was shredded to the extent some tangled around the roller holding one of the pullies and force open the engine as a result a chain got dislodged from its sprocket and the engine refuse to start.

What should I be expecting to fix ?
How much should I budget for this fix ?
Is this a serious that can lead to other complication or reoccurring issues after fix or a straight forward fix ?

The belt is something I mean if it means changing it every 4 months I'm okay. I just want to understand the issue and fix/manage it. as that belt is the one and only issue I faced.

Please I need your advise.

Check rollers, water pump, tensioner etc check for bad bearings and misalignment, if you notice any that's bad, replace it and replace with genuine belt.

Good evening everyone. I'm facing this challenge with my Honda Civic 2006. If I put it on reverse then it delay and the speedometer will be going up and down and once the speedometer finally stop then it will enter and when it eventually enter then it jerk and if I put it on drive then it also jerk except I turn the car off and on again before it will work normal but if I put it on drive straight without engaging on reverse it works smoothly. But at times if the car gets hot it seems to work normal. I went to scan the car and result showed that the (pressure control solenoids stuck off). Please advice me on what to do thanks
