In 4 years, you did not concession the refineries. You did not build even just one new refinery. Lately, you awarded TAM contract for the failed refineries and it has never worked every time a TAM was awarded. Another food for the boys. DPR awarded over a Billion Naira contract for the design of its office in Abuja. That must be a priority project to spend One Billion of scarce resources on it. Summary, this government is not serious in many things it should be. The Oil industry is gone back to food for the boys and they expect the masses to bear the brunt. What stops the government from selling the refineries or at least concession? The elite are the problems of this country. North and South, they are stealing. . ORACLE1975: The landing cost of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, is N35 higher than the pump price of N145 per litre, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, said on Tuesday. Kachikwu said the rise in global crude oil prices after the 2016 hike in petrol price brought back subsidy. Recalling the experience of 2016, when the government increased petrol price from N86.5 to N145 after months of severe scarcity, he described fuel subsidy as an emotive issue.
“You have very positive argument that says, ‘Why is this happening; let’s get it out.’ Once you do it, the streets get flooded by protesters. You have five or six or 10 days of no activity in the country. So, any attempt to remove the subsidy must be very well-managed,” the minister said on the NTA Good Morning Nigeria programme, monitored by our correspondent.
He noted that in 2016, the government wrote to the Nigeria Labour Congress and all the trade unions, adding that meetings were held with the security apparatus. Kachikwu said, “Even when there was a consensus on how we were going to do it, we still had an issue at the very tail end of the moment; NUPENG and PENGASSAN supported but, of course, the other members of the trade unions pulled out.
“Eventually, thankfully, Nigerians saw through what we were trying to do and let it happen. And thank God that happened at the time because when you look at the gap today, the landing cost is about N180 per litre and sale price is N145. Imagine if it (pump price) was N90-something; we will literally be a bankrupt country.” The minister added, “The point I am making is that anything you are going to do on subsidy requires a very efficient management of information – getting everybody who are stakeholders to tie into it.
“Should we deal with the removal of subsidy? I was gung-ho when I assumed this position that there was no way I was going to tolerate a subsidy regime at the time in 2015 of about N1.2tn-N1.3tn. There was just no way; we didn’t have the capacity to continue to pay.” “So, I convinced the President that this needed to happen; thankfully, he listened, he agreed and we did. Now, we then had over-recovery period for quite a while and then we went into this upswing in prices that has now taken us again into under-recovery.” The minister noted that the government had not paid marketers all the outstanding subsidy arrears. He said, “I think, first and foremost, we need to find a way of fixing refineries quickly, whether it is government-funded or whatever – my preference is always private sector funding.
“I think the labour union has never really said they would not be supportive of an attempt to take away this subsidy element; the union has always said, ‘If you are doing it, show me what you [will] do with those new receipts of income. Two, what do you do with the refineries?’ Therefore, we need to address those to even get their buy-in.“Secondly, we need to segregate between those who need subsidy and those who don’t; you will find that 80 per cent or more of those who get subsidy today do not need it. There is nothing necessarily bad with some element of subsidy if it is well-managed and is very little, and if the private sector can take it away completely; that is fantastic. That is the most ideal situation.” The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, which has been the sole importer of petrol into the country for about two years after private oil marketers withdrew from the importation of the product, bears the burden of subsidising the product. As of March 20, 2018, when the international benchmark price for oil (Brent) was around $66 per barrel, the expected open market price of petrol, according to data obtained from the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, was around N189 per litre. The agency has not released any data since then. The Group Managing Director, NNPC, on December 23, 2017, said the Federal Government had been resisting intense pressure to increase the pump price of petrol, noting that the landing cost of the commodity was N171.4 per litre as of December 22, 2017 when oil price was around $64 per barrel.

Usman will rather fight and support another Hausa man who has trouble with the Igbos of Umuahia in Umuahia even if he was meeting the Hausa for the first time. Why did we go through so many hassles registering BVN, Telecoms, FRSC, NIMC, Immigration service if these data cannot be brought to good use? Tintinnoty: There were indications, yesterday, that kidnappers of the Lagos State Fire Service Acting Director and six others have demanded N200 million ransom for their release.
A breakdown of the amount showed that N50 million ransom was requested for the release of the fire service boss, Rasaq Musibau, and N150 million for the others.
However, after much plea, Vanguard was reliably informed that the abductors agreed to reduce the amount. But they did not specify how much.
The abductors, during the conversation, assured family members of the safety of their captives. They, however, threatened to treat them harshly if their demand was not met.
It was gathered that when the abductors contacted the family of one of the captors in the early hours of yesterday, they promised to call again at a particular time but had not, as at press time.
We’re on their trail—Police
However, the police said they were still on the trail of the kidnappers, with a view to rescuing the captives alive.
Contacted, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Elkana Bala, stated that it would be improper to disclose the operational strategy on ground to ensure the safety of the captors, noting that it might jeopardise operation.
He, however, maintained that the police teams directed by the command boss to effect the release of the captives were on their trail.
Ambode meets with security chiefs
Worried by the level of insecurity in Lagos State, Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday, met with security chiefs to discuss the abduction of the Fire Service boss and others, at the State House, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.
Sources at the meeting, attended by Executive Secretary, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Abdurrazaq Balogun, and others, disclosed that other security challenges confronting the state were also deliberated on.
Addressing State House correspondent after the meeting, Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, Zubairu Muazu, disclosed that efforts have commenced to forestall any possible resurgence of kidnapping in the state.
He said: “I can confirm the abduction of the Director of Fire Service and six others. And since his kidnap, all the security agencies in the state have not rested on their oars; we are working towards prompt rescue of the victims.”
Police boss dispels report of return of kidnappers
Muazu, however, dispelled report that the abduction of the Fire Service boss indicated that kidnapping had returned to the state
He said: “I must clarify that this abduction does not mean that kidnapping has returned to the state. We all know when the spate was high and the level we are currently in Lagos. I can assure residents of Lagos State that all the security agencies in the state are working seriously to put a stop to this menace.”

According to her defender, she was so poor and had no one to run to yet had brothers strong enough to beat up the husband. Politics › Re: Umaru Mohammed: I’ll Pull Out Of Speakership Race If APC Zones It To South-East by Kinikini: 4:25pm On Apr 05, 2019 |
Traytior ahmedkoded95: Umaru Mohammed, one of the contenders for the speaker of the house of representatives, has promised to withdraw from the race if the All Progressives Congress (APC) zones the position to the south-east.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Mohammed who is from Niger state, said the south-east and north-central were the “greatest casualties” of the ruling party’s zoning formula.
The APC is expected to produce the next speaker after emerging with majority lawmakers in the lower legislative chamber.
TheCable reported how President Muhammadu Buhari endorsed Femi Gbajabiamila from the south-west as the next speaker.
But Mohammed said since the north-central got the third highest votes for the APC in the presidential election, it deserves to produce the next speaker.
The three-time lawmaker, however, added that rather zone the position to the south-west, the APC should cede it to the south-east “for fairness sake.”
“If the party has come out to say we are zoning speakership to the south-east, honestly I will have just gone to contest for deputy speaker if I want to” he said.
“But as a zone, the north-central is saying in whatever ramification, we deserve to be considered because we brought the third highest vote to make APC a government.
“And look at the logic, if you have taken senate presidency from north-central and speakership from north-east in the 8th Assembly, under normal circumstances you should be considering north-central.
“We have a president from the north-west and you have a vice-president from the south-west; the senate presidency to the north-east and deputy senate president to the south-south; that means they are settled.
“But if the party in its conscience and the leaders are going to wake up to the reality and they want to zone it to the south east, honestly we will support them.”

The Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai’s convoy foiled attempted kidnapping of motorists along Kaduna-Abuja road on Wednesday afternoon.
The Governor who was on his way to Abuja got to the Akilubu village around 3:40pm, sighted dozens of vehicles parked by citizens alarmed that kidnappers were ahead.
Security operatives in the governor’s convoy advanced and cleared the road of the criminals who fled into the forest.

Your wife does not respect you and also don't love you that much. Women who have sampled too men find it difficult to accept the sanctity of their matrimonial vows. Please be firm and stand your ground. By the time you send her out twice and back to her family, her brain will re-format. If you take the crap from her, you will permanently loose control of her. She is using her experience to wear you down to take control away from you. Thinnk deeply. ruddyman500: I got married to my wife in 2017 and we have been living together since, we have a child together but there is this problem with her anytime it has to do with any of her EX. i will cite some of what happened .
She wanted to organise a programme at a time and the person she could think of is one of her ex who happens to be a media guy, i told her point blank that i dont want her to go met the guy but she explained to me how the guy will be of help to her in the programme she is planning, i let her be cos i dont want to be seen as someone throwing spanners in the wheel of her progress, i supported her and the programme was a success.
Another instance was when her mother died, and they were planning the burial ceremony with her brothers...my wife got home and told me that she told her brothers that she will talk to a musician to come play at the ceremony and the said musician happens to be another ex of hers. i told her right there that am not comfortable with it at all how could ur ex come to sing at her mums burial and i will be there dancing to his tunes?...after so much back and forth , i told her i will only attend the church service and i or any of my people will not come for the party, that was when she made last minute changes and went to book another musician.
The last straw that broke the carmels back was yesterday....I and her have been having some issues of late and we talked over it infact we are just coming out of the tensions....then yesterday morning around 8am she told me that another ex of hers called her overnight and told her that his mum just passed away and he could not think of anyone to call but her cos he is so broken, she said she had sent her condolences already but that she will like to go greet the guy and his siblings cos they are in their fathers house [ the guy is still single ooo although they broke up in 2013] and that she will be able to know about the burial arrangements so she can plan on attending the burial..so she asked me for permission if she could go and pay them a visit yesterday..... Normally i wld not have allowed her but i thought what is she didnt tell me and went there and secondly cos of the tension we just went through and i dont want another tension to build again , i told her i will only allow her to either go greet them yesterday or she goes for the burial ...I told her i will only allow her to choose one . She then asked me in strong tone why i didnt wnat her to attend the burial.....At that point i left the room cos i was not ready for another round of arguments.
She did not say anything again until afternoon, i went to my living room and asked her if she is no more going on the visit again she said she already taken her bath and she will go n prepare now ....she entered the room and started dressing up, i went to meet her in the room and i told her that i allowed her to go cos i already gave her the permission but henceforth i will not allow such again ...Told her she is not the only person with exes , i dont allow issues of any of my own ex brew tension in my marriage , i told her i have an ex whose fathers house is just like 5 mins drive from inside the estate we live and when the man died my ex called me ..all i did was send her my condolence over the phone and i explained that i cant come for the burial cos i have a wife at home whose feelings i respect and that it ends there AT that point my wife flared up to the high heavens .....she started ranting that why am i caging her that i should give her reasons why she should not go that am just so obsessed with her am immmature, insecure and bla bla bla. I told her if loving my wife and protecting the dignity and integrity of my family for obsession then she is totally wrong. She said other men will not have any problem with it that why am i making an issue out of the situation, i explained to her that am not other men , What Mr A is comfortable with may not be so with Mr B cos we all have our individual differences .....One problem my wife have is she does not see reasons why i shld not accept what she seems right to her . I then told her to call any of her elder brother and explain this situation to him if he can allow such ....
This is a woman i never restricted her movements ....i only restricted her twice and they are both on health grounds...When she left i did what i have never done before [ i have never reported her to anybody either my family or hers no matter what happens i find a way we can solve it]...i called her very close friend and explained everything to her, the lady was surprised and she promised to talk to her....I also tried to call her elder brother who is a pastor but his phone is switched off and i have not been able to get through to him .When my wife came back she did not even greet meat all , she came to take our baby from me which i refused her, she went straight into her room, i later went into the room to lay our baby and i went into the guest room to sleep cos am so much in anger and i dont want the neighbors to hear any noise from my flat.
please i need sincere and honest opinion from married people on here ....i want to know if am at fault and secondly what next step should i take |

Simi, so a Pastor should consider your feelings could be hurt in giving out his sermon? Another problem with this era of women. joshuisiukwu: Simi has called out Pastor Kingsley of the David Christian Center over his claim of 'so many single people because men are sexually satisfied'.
The Pastor in his sermon said ''women need to understand that men are not emotionally developed as they are, women know what they want from childhood. The average teenage girl has dreams of how her wedding will be. Men as teenager is just playing ball, he has no dreams of settling down. He wants sex, men want sex not relationship. God put so much sexual passion in men, expecting that women will obey him by doing access denied, so that if he wants so much sex he should marry. So, he will give you what you want, you will give him what he wants. That was how God planned it, but many women have been sabotaging themselves. So you have been giving it out to people that didn't put a ring on it. This is why we have so many single people because a lot of guys are sexually satisfied. Men enjoy sex with more people, than with one person. So, you are messing up and sabotaging yourself by giving out free sex. If you do national lock up, these men will marry. "
However Simi who called out Pastor Kingsley over claims made in the video, said she is tired of seeing his sermon. The singer stated that marriage is not a reward for good behaviour. She wrote;

Omooba77: The Supreme Court on Friday affirmed an order of interim forfeiture made by the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court in respect of the sum of $8.4m linked to the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mrs. Patience Jonathan.
The five-man bench of the apex court led by Justice Dattijo Muhammad, in a unanimous judgment, dismissed the ex-First Lady’s appeal and directed her to return to the Federal High Court to show cause why the funds should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.
The court also rejected her prayer to strike down the provisions of section 17 of the Advanced Fee Fraud Act and other Fraud related offences Act, which was relied on by the Federal High Court to issue the order of interim forfeiture.
Upholding the decision of the Court of Appeal in Lagos, which had affirmed the Federal High Court’s interim order, Justice Kumai Aka’ahs, in the lead judgment of the apex court on Friday, held, “I do not find any reason to interfere with the decision of the lower court”.
Justice Aka’ahs added, ” Appellant is to go back to the trial court (the Federal High Court) to show cause why the interim order should not be made permanent.”
The lead judgment was read on behalf of Justice Aka’ahs by Justice Ejembi Eko, also a member of the panel.
Other members of the five-man panel, Justices Muhammad, John Okoro, Eko, and Sidi Bage, agreed with Justice Aka’ah’s lead judgment.
The EFCC had last year approached the Federal High Court in Lagos with an ex parte application seeking the forfeiture of the sum of $8,435,788.84 and other various sums in various bank accounts linked to the wife of the former President.
The anti-graft agency, in its application anchored on section 17 of AFFA, had urged the court to grant an order of interim forfeiture of the funds which they said were suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.
Patience Jonathan and others including some organisations were joined in the said ex parte application as respondents.
Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Lagos had on April 20, 2018 granted the ex parte order.
She also ordered the EFCC to publish the court’s order in any major national newspaper to enable the respondents or anyone interested in the funds to appear before the court to show cause within 14 days why the final order of forfeiture of the said funds should not be made in favour of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Instead of appearing before the court to show cause as directed by the court, she had filed an appeal before the Court of Appeal to challenge the competence of the ex parte application filed by the EFCC to request the order of interim forfeiture.
She also in her appeal challenged the validity of the order made by the trial court and the constitutionality of section 17 of AFFA.
The Court of Appeal in Lagos dismissed her appeal prompting her to approach the Supreme Court to rule in her favour.
Arguing her appeal on December 12, 2018, her lead counsel, Mr. Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), urged the Supreme Court to quash section 17 of AFFA which he contended negated the principles of fair hearing and presumption of innocence prescribed in the Constitution.
He said section 17 of AFFA which allowed assets to be seized from an individual without conviction, a hearing or a criminal charge whether temporarily or permanently was unconstitutional.
He also said the ex parte application which the trial court granted failed to disclose the alleged “unlawful activities”, the funds were linked to.
Responding, EFCC’s lawyer, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, said the appellant’s appeal was based on a misconception about the provision of section 17 of AFFA.
He said there was nothing unconstitutional about the said provision which he said provides an opportunity to the affected person to be heard on the temporarily forfeited assets.
The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the appeal and upheld the decisions of the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal.

[Why have these people carry Tinubu's matter for head like this. The man no contest office na o. If a better country is your gaol and not envy, you guys should pay more attention to your governors and get them to develop your region. Tinubu was Lagos Gov, Lagosians aren't complaining. Why cry than the bereaved. Imagine them instigating 'o to ge' campaign in Lagos when their governors have consistently been looting and under-developing their states. At least charity begins at home. When the time to retire Tinubu comes, his people will retire him. quote author=Tundemuttee post=76303813]Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to the arrest of Babalele Abdullahi, son-in-law and Finance Director of group of companies owned by Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to him, the arrest was part of the plot to make Atiku concede the result of the just concluded election.
