The VO was not convinced that I had sufficient finance to take care of my accompany family members without working in Canada.
This is..like suggesting that I got refused bc I joined my family. Pls my seniors and bosses what do u want me to do here. Pls if I applied alone how soon do u think my family can come visit me. I really want to see my daughters grow up with me. Pls help plssss!!!

I will be rolling out my experience at the CDHC in bits! Cos the issues are quite sensitive and you will need to read in between the lines to get the messages!
Lesson1:
ALL planning to storm CDHC should please not engage in any negative discussions with anyone on whatsoever issues!
They can hear all your discussions inside the embassy!
I am "terribly" sure of what I am saying oo!
Just outside there...rather than join in "unproductive" negative gists.....be praying under your breath!
My experience yesterday with lesson number one was extremely shocking!
Don't engage in negative gists about CDHC, Officials or CANADA....gbam!

You welcome. ...but hold on if you haven't booked! I learnt something ladt week! Prices are fixed using "algorithms" .So if you move out and come in as same person to book same flight, the system is programmed to jerk the price forward!
So try this.....check the site with a different laptop or clear the cookies on the browser you used or different browser on same system. You might get that previous price of $2796

Affidavit shows a lot like dommakavelli rightly said...like saying the company's truly yours, that you're the one sponsoring yourself. That all documents provided are genuine! Its just like replacing the sponsor's name (if you weren't self sponsored) with yours in the prototype!
And I want to plead with you...If you are using an agent. ...obey all instructions (dont argue with the agents especially with stuff seen on NL) so you don't give him room for any excuse!
I promise you. ...agents hate to hear their clients mention Nairaland more often than not!

I will advise you quickly book o! The prices are getting crazier by the day! I had planned leaving on 31st like 2 weeks ago...saw the fare then, around 360k...only to check around 2days later and it had gone up to 600k.I eventually got September and I almost lost that too! $2126 was what I paid eventually!
I doubt if you will get first week in September for that amount anymore!
KLM and Air France dont require transit visa provided their route isnt through the States!

GboyegaD: I think it depends in some cases. For both schools I applied to. TOEFL was required if one needed funding thus, for those who may be looking forward to school sponsorship, read through all the requirement well enough and make sure you meet them.

My school didn't tell me that IELTS was necessary to secure school funding. ..they told me it wasn't needed! But luckily for me, a lecturer from lag now lecturing there advised me it was a strong requirement for scholarship. ...and thank God I listened to him!
Plus CDHC states it as one of the strongly recommended documents!
Its just safer to write it!

They believe that for a school to give you a full funding,you must be very good and have something great to offer to the school and the Country as a whole.

I've not come across anyone with full funding from the school or even Government that was denied visa...

Read thru my post once more please...Don't get me wrong...what suffices for availability of fund during one's study is "PROOF OF INCOME (either if the sponsor is working or self-employed)"...If the sponsor has the amt that can do his ward for a year and the proof of steady income, CDHC automatically assumes that he can do the same the coming year.

That is why I advised him that if he's going for a 2-year course,he shud bring in a co-sponsor to show source of income for the coming year...

My funding was 26k and tuition:14k and my personal statement was just 800k and sponsor' s account:1.5m..its the school not FG.
But I think were you might be correct is our funding will be accessed again for second year provided we have good academic standing!

Onye oma: If ur course is a 1-year programme, $40k is a nice one and will sail thru...
If ur course is a 2-year programme, what proof will you show CDHC that you'll be able to take care of urself in the 2nd year?? (That is why I brought up the CO-SPONSOR addition)

From what I observed about the "SPONSORSHIP NOT CREDIBLE" stuff, CDHC:
If an applicant presents an S0A (even though a good one) without any source of income to show that there is subsequent inflow of cash, it might lead to the above reason (be the sponsor self or parent).

Some members in this thread have witnessed exactly the same reason for denial just last/this month...

You might not be totally correct. ..my friend's scholarship is 20k dollars and tuition is 8000.
And the statement he submitted had just about 800k naira.
And me too...the statement I submitted was less than 2 million naira.
If CDHC wants to look at 2nd year critically..many of us might not make it!
I believe the first year coverage for tuition, living expenses and accommodation plus a little extra should do.
My prog and my friend's is two years!
I really think the extra sponsor thing is always dicey(cos we all know what happens in getting one ) and when you've got an opportunity to avoid it...its a good one!
