2.Look sexy: Get rid of that after child-birth pregnancy(protruding tummy) many Nigerian young mothers are known for. 4.Don't discuss your child excessively: I have heard many single mothers say stuffs like..a man who will want me must want my child..

Well no man will ask you to forget your child but most guys are not interested in hearing you sing about the child,remember its not his child so in as much as a mother's love towards her child is strong,please try to avoid making it a subject matter even if the man also has his own children. Discussing your child excessively will take the shine off the affair.

5.Don't take up the responsibility: This is one big mistake single mothers do. Except the man absconds or his family bluntly refuses to accept the child,DON'T EVER TAKE UP THE RESPONSIBILITY OF TAKING CARE OF THE CHILD.

In most cases,the baby daddy and his family are interested in the baby but not interested in the mother so many times these ladies usually hold on to the child because to them "if you don't want me,you can't have my child"

No matter the stress you go through in bringing the child up,you can never erase the paternity of the child and a day will likely come when the child will look for the dad or visavis and when the day comes,just one prostration and im sorry from the dad will melt the pains of neglect of many years so why insist on taking care of a child of a man who may come back to claim his biological child.

Please give the child to the father's family,after-all nobody in this world can contest the maternity of the child.Abeg free yourself because its a turn off for guys when they want to woo a cutie and discover that the baby you are with is actually yours...its better to know latter.

Or better still give the child to a family member of yours and be free to rediscover yourself.

6. Be financially independent: Please understand that many men these days are struggling and it will be very unrealistic for you to expect another man to automatically take up another man's responsibility.

Yes some men will not mind to take care of you and your child or children but try to be financially independent in the little way you can so that while you expect some form of financial succor from any man that comes into your life,you will not stress him too much by wanting him to provide for a child who is not his.

7.Don't be a dumping ground: Many ladies have been enmeshed with self pity and condemnation that they just rush into any affair with guys who they will ordinarily never date all because they see themselves as after one as they call it.

There is a saying for single mothers in my dialect "omo bibi ki n se arun" meaning having a child out of wedlock is not a disease.

8. Be bold,be confident never allow any man love you out of pity or take advantage of you.

@OP thanks for this thread, i am in my early 30, i am a workaholic and an introvert though trying to socialize and work on my people skills becos my profession needs it as a civil doctor( guess you should figure that out yourself or ask Shakespeare) smiles. I spend my 48hrs weekend at home all indoor except i am at the mechanic, in church or out of town. I love older women they are understanding, matured and fun to be with especially the matured discussion. The only thing is dread is the marriage issue. I dont wanna get marry, i hate marriage at least for now .
I moved to Lagos few months back and will like to hook up atleast up my social skills. The failed attempt by a Police Corporal to break into Edo State Government House account department’s vault raises fresh concern about the security situation in Osadebey Avenue, the seat of power. Patrick Ochoga reveals how the police convoy driver was caught

Few days after the failed attempt by a police corporal simply identified simply as Ewere to break into the vault in the account section of the governor’s office, tongues have continue to wag over the incident as others discussed the matter in hush tones had left government house staffs, security operatives and visitors alike in utter shock and surprise as it is believed to be least expected place for such an incident to happened.

The incident of last weekend while posing as a serious challenge to security personnel posted to guard the seat of power, no doubt, also exposes some of the security lapses within and around government house.

The events of aside the fact that it further diminished the image of the men of the Nigerian Police also brings to the spotlight the character of persons recruited into the force into serious scrutiny.

Even more shocking was the fact that the culprit, Corporal Ewere, saddled with the responsibility of providing security services to the governor’s convoy, choose the path of shame by disregarding his constitutional duties and responsibility. This gives credence to the popular adage that, “man’s common enemy lives within”

LEADERSHIP Weekend learnt that the police suspect had been arranged before a court in Benin and later remanded at Oko minimum prison pending the proper hearing of the case.

Osadebey Avenue, the seat of power in Edo State is tucked in the heart of Government Reservation of Area, G.R.A, in Benin and share parts of it perimeter fence with the 4th Brigade Nigerian Army and few metres away from the Department of State Security Service, DSS and Police Command headquarters respectively.

Civilian drivers in the convoy of the governor were initially fingered in the attempted vault break before the real suspects; Corporal Ewere was later apprehended barely 24 hours of the incident.

The end of the road for Corporal Ewere was said to have started on the night of Friday 25th of September 2015 when a police officer, attached to the signal unit of Government House in the same building housing the account department heard a strange noise coming out from the down floor at about 1am.

The Police officer became more curious as the noise from the welding machine Corporal Ewere was using to pull down the window protector became louder. The Police officer on duty was said to have demanded to know who was there? The suspect was said to had beckoned on him to come down, an invitation, he declined and immediately ran into the radio room where he alerted all the security units over the incident as they swung into action.

Ewere, who noticed that he had being sighted was said to have taken to his heels and scaled a perimeter fence where he escaped leaving behind hand gloves and some of the equipment he had used.

The suspect according to source was among policemen who were in the escort when the large sum was deposited in the account department last Wednesday. The money, it was gathered was probably meant to upset some expenses towards last week’s Sallah’s celebration.



Suspect’s Arrest

Security operatives in Government House where said to have immediately summoned all the government house drivers for interrogation. Ewere was also invited where he was interrogated and identified by the eagle-eyed police man on duty. He was said to have sustained injury on his elbow in an attempt to scale the barb wire perimeter fence.

Investigation revealed that Corporal Ewere was said to have driven one of the Hilux trucks attached to the governors convoy to his house in the day time and secretly moved some hardware into it including welding machines, sledge hammer, hand gloves and other equipment he intended to use to break into the vault before nemesis caught up with him.

Investigation indicated that a phone call to the wife of the suspect who was said to have gone for a prayer vigil in a church confirmed to police investigators that her husband was not at home on the night of the incident. He (Ewere) was reported to have told his wife that he was on night duty.

A police officer attached to Government House who do not want his name in print said this is the second time such attempt would be made to break into the account department. He described as shameful the act by their colleague by dragging the name of the force into the mud.

“It is important to question some of our colleagues especially the ones in government house where they are getting money to buy cars.

Imagine a Corporal buying a brand new car and the question then is, where is he getting the money from? It is a shame that this kind of character find their way into the police force. We still have men who are honest and contended with what they have, after all, it is the same police that arrested him. It is just unfortunate.”

The Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike and the AIG zone 5 were said to have visited the scene of the incident.

The incident has left a sour taste among police personnel in the government house as it would continue to be a reference point in the security circle for a long time to come.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A twice-condemned serial killer who claimed he was intellectually disabled was executed in Virginia on Thursday after a series of last-minute appeals failed.

Alfredo Prieto was pronounced dead at 9:17 at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarrat. The 49-year-old was injected with a lethal three-drug combination, including the sedative pentobarbital, which Virginia received from Texas.

Prieto, wearing jeans and a light blue shirt, showed no emotion as he was strapped to the gurney.

"I would like to say thanks to all my lawyers, all my supporters and all my family members," he said, before mumbling, "Get this over with."

The El Salvador native was sentenced to death in Virginia in 2010 for the murder of a young couple more than two decades earlier. Rachael Raver and her boyfriend, Warren Fulton III, both 22, were found shot to death in a wooded area a few days after being seen at a Washington, D.C., nightspot.

Prieto was on death row in California at the time for raping and murdering a 15-year-old girl and was linked to the Virginia slayings through DNA evidence. California officials agreed to send him to Virginia on the rationale that it was more likely to carry out the execution.

He has been connected to as many as six other killings in California and Virginia, authorities have said, but he was never prosecuted because he had already been sentenced to death.

Prieto is the first inmate to be executed in in Virginia in nearly three years. The last execution took place in January 2013, when Robert Gleason Jr. was put to death in the state's electric chair, which inmates can choose over lethal injection. Gleason had been serving a life in prison for a 2007 murder when he killed his cellmate in 2009.

Virginia's lethal injection protocol calls for the use of pentobarbital, a sedative, at the beginning of the execution. That's followed by rocuronium bromide, which halts an inmate's breathing, and potassium chloride, which stops the heart.

Prieto's attorneys filed a lawsuit Wednesday seeking to halt the execution until Virginia officials disclose more information about the supply of pentobarbital, which Virginia received from Texas because another sedative it planned to use expired.

Among other things, his attorneys sought to force the state to disclose the name of the compounding pharmacy, which Texas is allowed by law to keep secret. His attorneys said they were concerned about the quality of the drugs and whether they would bring Prieto "gratuitous and unnecessary pain."

Prieto had also asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene, saying he's intellectually disabled, and therefore ineligible for the death penalty. But the high court declined to grant his requests to stay the execution on Thursday.

His attorneys argued that the state should reconsider whether Prieto is intellectually disabled because the measure used during his 2008 trial was unconstitutional. The Supreme Court ruled last year that Florida can't use rigid cutoffs on IQ test scores to determine whether someone is intellectually disabled. Virginia had a nearly identical law.

(CNN)Preliminary information indicates 10 people were killed and more than 20 others injured in a shooting at Oregon's Umpqua Community College on Thursday, said Oregon State Police spokesman Bill Fugate.

Douglas County Commissioner Chris Boice told CNN that the shooter is in custody. It was not immediately clear whether the shooter was injured.

"We arrived to find multiple patients in multiple classrooms. Law enforcement was on scene and had the shooter neutralized," Douglas County Fire Marshal Ray Shoufler told CNN.

He said that two patients died while being transported to a hospital.
Investigators are examining social media postings made by a man, thought to be in his late 20s, who they believe is the suspect in Thursday's shootings at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, a source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN. The night before the attack, the alleged shooter appears to have had a conversation with others online about his intentions, the source said.

Look at the India delegation, their President visited Google, Tesla, Facebook, etc. They announced big deal, e.g. Google to install WiFi in all Indian major train stations. These deals are possible because the Indian government has tapped into her large diaspora of Indians in the US to facilitate trade deals.
Kenya has tapped in the Obama halo, India has tapped into her diaspora in Silicon Valley...We can learn a thing or two from this.

2. House of Assembly speakers collect between N50, 000,000.00K and N500,000,000.00K a month. It was widely reported a few years ago that the monthly security vote of the former speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly was N500,000,000.00K.
3. Some State Governors collect between N200,000,000.00K and N1,000,000,000.00K as security vote. In Lagos it used to be in the region of N1,000,000,000.00K
4. At the presidential level it runs into billions. When the late President Yar’adua was abroad for treatment, his aides collected N70,000,000,000.00K in a space of three months, specifically November and December 2009 and January 2010. That came to an average of more N23,000,000,000.00K a month.
5. Unnecessary allowances by way of overhead cuts across all levels of government.

The death toll in a crush at the annual haj pilgrimage outside Mecca rose to 769, Saudi Arabia said on Saturday, as arch-rival Iran said Saudi officials should be tried in an international court for what it called a crime.

The worst disaster to befall the Islamic event in a quarter of a century occurred on Thursday as two large groups of pilgrims arrived together at a crossroads in Mina, a few kilometres outside the holy city.

"The latest statistics up to this hour reveal 769 dead. That is an increase of 52 on the previous figures," Saudi health minister Khalid al-Falih told a news conference.

"Those are the ones who died in various hospitals since the event," he said, adding that 934 people were wounded.

Shi'ite Muslim Iran, which is locked in a series of proxy wars in Arab countries around the Sunni Muslim kingdom, says that at least 136 Iranians are among the dead, sparking protests and outrage in the Islamic Republic on Friday.

Over 300 other Iranians remain unaccounted for, including former ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi, Fars news agency reported.

"We will urge international courts and circles to start the trial of the Saudis for their crimes against haj pilgrims," Iran's Prosecutor General Ebrahim Raisi was quoted as saying by student news agency ISNA on Saturday

"This is not incompetence, it's a crime," Raisi told state broadcaster IRIB.

At the U. N. General Assembly, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani used his address to the summit to demand an investigation into the crush.

Protecting the visitors to mosques at the holy cities of Mecca and Medina is a key pillar of legitimacy for the Saudi royal family, and the king has the title of "custodian of the two holy mosques."

Speaking to the country's crown prince Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, top Saudi cleric Abdulaziz Al al-Sheikh said he did not hold authorities responsible for the disaster.

"You are not responsible for what happened. You dealt with the beneficial factors that were in your hands and within your ability. As for the things that humans cannot control, you cannot blamed for them. Fate and destiny are inevitable," Al al-Sheikh, known as the Grand Mufti, said in a televised statement.

Al al-Sheikh also appeared to deflect criticisms of the kingdom from outside as a product of "envy."

"Many are envious of the kingdom for its religion, leadership, economy and the cohesion of its members, and for the great blessings it has experienced, unlike many other countries," he said.

Catalonia is due to vote in regional elections that nationalist parties hope will set them on the road to independence from Spain.

Two separatist parties have joined forces, and are aiming to secure a majority of seats in parliament - 68 out of 135.

They say this would allow them to unilaterally declare independence within 18 months.

The central government in Madrid has pledged to block in court such moves.

Polls suggest a majority of Catalans favour a referendum on independence but are evenly divided over whether they want to secede.

More than five million people are eligible to cast their votes.

They say that Sunday's vote is a de facto referendum on independence from Spain.

They argue that the Spanish government has consistently refused to allow a legally recognised referendum, ignoring an unofficial vote backing independence in November 2014.

The anti-independence vote in Catalonia is split between a number of groups, including Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's Popular Party.

The centre-right government in Madrid has described any breakaway plans as "a nonsense".

Mr Rajoy argues that because the loss of Catalonia would affect all of Spain, the democratic approach would be for all of the country to vote in a referendum on Catalonia's future.

At the same time, if "Together for Yes" fails to gain a majority it would be tantamount to a serious defeat for the pro-independence movement.

Go back, for a moment, nearly 30 years. In March 1987, Margaret Thatcher visited Mikhail Gorbachev, the reforming leader of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, in Moscow. Sitting in the Kremlin, the two argued for hours. At one point, Mr. Gorbachev accused Mrs. Thatcher of leading the party of the “haves” and of fooling the people about who really controlled the levers of power. The Iron Lady had an answer: “I explained,” she wrote in her memoirs, “that what I was trying to do was create a society of ‘haves,’ not a class of them.”

In the era of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, those words carried conviction. There was plenty of argument, of course, about whether the means they chose were the best and about the fate of those who got left behind. But even critics reluctantly had to agree about which way history was heading: The society of “haves” in the West was growing; state socialism was imploding.

Most of the rest of the world was hoping to follow the West’s example. Two and a half years later, the Berlin Wall fell. Almost all the newly emerging ex-Communist regimes sought market freedoms for their people. Back home in the Anglosphere, the spread of ownership—of stocks and homes—and the expansion of economic and personal opportunity were the dominant themes of the age. As Mrs. Thatcher bustled around Whitehall urging on her program of popular capitalism, she used to shout: “Every earner an owner!”

In 2015, it is difficult to imagine a version of that Thatcher/Gorbachev conversation being replicated between any Western leader and the hostile and suspicious Vladimir Putin. Neither side seems to have an intelligible ideology. Besides, the confidence is not there anymore.

Since the financial crisis of 2007-08, which Western leader could boast of spreading ownership in any important way? In the U.S. and Britain, the percentage of citizens owning stocks or houses is well down from the late 1980s. In Britain, the average age for buying a first home is now 31 (and many more people than before depend on “the bank of Mom and Dad” to help them do so). In the mid-’80s, it was 27. My own children, who started work in London in the last two years, earn a little less, in real terms, than I did when I began in 1979, yet house prices are 15 times higher. We have become a society of “have lesses,” if not yet of “have nots.”

In a few lines of work, earnings have shot forward. In 1982, only seven U.K. financial executives were receiving six-figure salaries. Today, tens of thousands are (an enormous increase, even allowing for inflation). The situation is very different for the middle-ranking civil servant, attorney, doctor, teacher or small-business owner. Many middle-class families now depend absolutely on the income of both parents in a way that was unusual even as late as the 1980s.

In Britain and the U.S., we are learning all over again that it is not the natural condition of the human race for children to be better off than their parents. Such a regression, in societies that assume constant progress, is striking. Imagine the panic if the same thing happened to life expectancy.

When things go backward in nations accustomed to middle-class stability, people start to ask questions. What is the use of capitalism if its rewards go to the few and its risks are dumped on the many? The rights of property do not seem so enticing if the value of what you own collapses or if that property is trapped by debt. What is so great about globalization if it means that the products and services you offer are undercut by foreign competition and that millions of new people can come to your country, take your jobs and enjoy your welfare benefits?

Great international banks and other corporations—and their top executives—can devise a life that escapes normal tax jurisdictions. Their successes are globalized and accrue chiefly to them; their failures crawl back home to die, at the expense of the rest of us.

So instead of feeling that it is a privilege to be an ordinary citizen of a free country, many of us start to feel a bit like suckers. Hope—the inseparable companion of progress—fades and is replaced by disappointment, even bitterness. It has always been understood that opportunity carries some price of insecurity, but what happens if insecurity rises and opportunity contracts?

Our politics has begun to match these uneasy feelings. “You people are suffering,” bellows Donald Trump to cheering crowds of seemingly fairly prosperous people. Material suffering is not, despite the ups and downs of his own business, an experience that he knows much about, but he finds a ready audience. Meanwhile, in Britain, an overwhelming majority of the Labor Party, which won three general elections in a row under the centrist Tony Blair, has just selected a new leader, Jeremy Corbyn, a 66-year-old veteran of hard Left politics who looks forward to the end of capitalism. Until a couple of months ago, he seemed almost literally the most unelectable person in his entire party.

The clock is gradually ticking against the embattled president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki as some of his loyalists cutting across the ruling All Progressives Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have begun withdrawing their support for him for the fear of being perceived by the public as advocates of lawlessness and impunity.

It was also learnt that the senators are also of the view that as distinguished lawmakers elected to represent their senatorial districts, their integrity, national interest and strict adherence to the provisions of the statue books must be paramount and above any personal interest.

It would be recalled that Saraki is currently facing charges of false declaration of assets amongst other charges and was docked by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, becoming the first sitting presiding officer in the history of the National Assembly to stand trial by a competent court.

All former presiding officers of the National Assembly, who were faced with similar charges, first resigned their positions in order to protect the integrity and sanctity of the highest lawmaking body in the country, and biggest in Africa.

LEADERSHIP Sunday gathered that the ranks of the ‘Like Minds Senators’, a group of senators that worked for the emergence of Saraki as President of Senate, has come falling naturally, a fall anchored on the need to defend and protect their individual names as well as the institution of National Assembly, “not the interest of Saraki or any other individual”, our source declared.

Our source, an APC member and Senator from one of the North Central state, who preferred anonymity, in view of the critical role he played in Saraki’s emergence, told LEADERSHIP Sunday that, “I am personally not surprised at what is happening because I knew that Saraki will have problems but I was not expecting it soon. Secondly, I did not honestly look in the direction of any cases of alleged corruption when I was supporting him.

“My fear was how he will manage his colleagues because of his seeming and perceived arrogance, because I remember that the President did say he will work with anybody, provided the person is not corrupt. So I became involved in his project because I believed he could use his experience and complement the president, particularly in the fight against corruption. But seriously, I am ashamed of myself to see these charges, yes it is an allegation but you can see that they are solid and appear true as far as a layman can see. And then his efforts to stop that process were just admittance of guilt as far as I’m concerned.”

Continuing, the Senator said, “I don’t see myself being viewed on national television defending that kind of thing. What will my constituents think about me? I cannot do that so I believe he should just step aside and clear his name, which is the most honourable thing to do. You journalists have put the matter out in the public and the public reaction is not favourable and if we are not careful, we will be overwhelmed by the public and further lose respect in the eyes of the public.

“I’m not alone, many will back out and many have spoken to me about their displeasure. Maybe we should support Senator George Akume or Barnabas Gemade for the position. Gemade for instance is a perfect choice if you ask me.”

On the possibility of the emergence of a Senate president from the PDP, the source said, “that cannot happen, it is not possible. This time, you will see that we have a president who will be interested and will be right, it was because he refused to intervene that it led to emergence of Saraki and even Ekweremadu. That will not happen again I assure you. PDP senators cannot emerge Senate President, no way,” he said.

Meanwhile, following the arraignment of Saraki before the CCT last week, Senators elected on the platform of the opposition PDP appear to have perfected plans to replace him with one of their own in case of his eventual removal from office.

An impeccable source within the PDP last night confided in LEADERSHIP Sunday that the permutation of the PDP lawmakers is that if the governing APC of which Saraki is a member, uses the court or other means to remove him, the PDP should reach out to the Senate President’s core supporters in the APC, who are already endangered and aggrieved with the way and manner Saraki was last week humiliated by being dragged to the tribunal without previous invitation.

He stated that if this is achieved, the PDP will then try to get the needed number to make the balance and present either former Senate President David Mark or the incumbent Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, as new Senate President.

Indications at the weekend revealed that PDP senators have also realised that they need to stay together as a united team to be able to assert themselves and get what they need, hence their recent meetings in different parts of Abuja to be able to present a common front when the need arises.

The source added that “one of the problems Buhari and others have with Saraki is the emergence of Ekweremadu as Deputy Senate President and that if Saraki is removed, the APC will not be satisfied until Ekweremadu is also removed. So, if it is David Mark that emerges, the job is easier. He is still respected among ranking Senators.”

Meanwhile, it was gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari in his ongoing visit to New York for the UN General Assembly got the clear impression that the international community is not seeing Saraki’s trial as an anti-corruption issue.

A US diplomat was said to have told members of the Nigerian delegation that the US respects separation of powers as an inherent part of its presidential system of government and that politicizing the campaign against corruption will not help Nigeria.
