GuysRock: This should be my 10th day now, i dont even want to be counting days cos i will be thinking about it, i just wanna stop. I have observed so many changes. From not being cold towards people anymore, to having a sharp and clear vision to increase in mental capacity to becoming social lately, i read and comprehend things as much as possible these days too unlike before. I am now proactive at work and could make logical statement and even think further than my colleague in solving problems. Another thing i noticed is that my face is becoming smooth and acne-free these days too. No sebum depositon on my nose too. I theorized it was this masturbation that made me not to be the best student in my class then while in school despite how much i tried then. If i had known masturbation has affected my life this much early i would have stopped long ago. I am the best student In my class and I self-service sometimes. So please stop relating Masturbation to Intelligence or brilliancy. |

This is the one reason why I detest going to Fellowships in my school. Those students are Hypocrites. When you try Calling any of them to order as to why using fellowship as a means to have sex? then, they will start telling you shit like " You wey no dey go church". Can you just imagine how dumb they are. Bloody Hypocrites! I hate to see them jumping around the school hostel preaching around and smiling when all they do at the dark side is what they are preaching against.
Bloody Hypocrites! I hate hypocrites than the devil himself. |

igboarenice: Yes Django is 100% based on python You need to learn python class, function, condition statement etc to understand django. That's good for me then cos I'm more of an intermediate in Python. Software development is the one for me then. Thanks |

Codepain: I studied mathematics as you might have guess No companies will employ a raw mathematics graduate as there are little theorems to prove So i settled for teaching sec school students mathematics. My teaching experience is no different from others, overworked and underpaid i know that's no the life i wanted One fateful day i was on job site they advertised for a data scientist job i check the requirement 1. Graduate of mathematics, statistics or computer science, 2. Must know python or R 3. SQl database among others
And the pay is 250k. I was excited about the pay i know i can learn whatever i needed to learn to be a data scientist I researched online the more i search the more i love the field more. I knew i found whatever i'm looking for. So i resigned my job to learn data science months and months of serious learning, books Pluralsight, youtube, udemy etc. Watching and learning how the best in the field does it I feel job ready. So i started searching for data science jobs only one company venture garden group sent me a computer test unfortunately i missed the test I paid "professional" to do my cv results was not any better. No Data science jobs was forthcoming more than a year after i resigned my job I was unhappy as no salary was coming and bills keep rising but i'm satisfied as i know i only need to wait for opportunity to present itself This means Data Science is not really a hot cake as they make it seem. It also seems to be that it's meant for those in Maths, Computer Science and the likes. I will need to deviate from that path of becoming a Data Scientist to becoming a Software developer. Thanks for your contribution. I simply wish you all the best and success in your endeavors. Keep pushing, the job will surely come. |

I'm not discouraging him sha. I'm unlucky in data science that's my story may not be his. Please share story. I need motivation. Are you only proficient in Django? I also believe Django needs a knowledge of python. |

Good evening house, I'll really love us to discuss about this as this is a career decision I'm about taking. Others may learn from it too. In terms of Salary and Job opportunity which among the two is more promising? A Data Scientist or a software developer/Engineer? Thanks as I anticipate your contributions. |

dregmaster: Go to a any UBA zonal office and get your NIN. You can get it same day with the right condition. Application closes six weeks after the start of application. Most federal agencies follow this period. I appreciate your response Sir. Please I don't mean to bug you, but I thought a picture of one's ID Card(front and back) is needed when registering for the N-POWER. Or is the NIN a replacement for it?? |

AutosBay: Go and do drivers licence, that national ID delays, Ojo have lots of crowd it will delay you. I cannot tell you when the portal will close besides most vacancies lasts for two weeks minimum Thanks for your response. When you said it will delay, how many days or week do you mean? I can't drive. So how do I still go ahead and get a driver's license? Like what are the required documents for it?? Thanks |

AutosBay: If you are yet to receive an email, it's as a result of the large pool of applicants, traffic congestion, and early application, but notwithstanding here are few suggestions: 1. Make sure it is the exact email inbox you used to register that you are checking, several people have multiple emails. 2. Delete unnecessary emails. 3. Check your spam mail, you can as well delete unnecessary spam mails, your inbox might have exceeded storage capacity. 4. Reload your email 5. Check for "All Mails" 6. Use search box and search for the mail 7. Empty trash mails 8. Try sending yourself an email to check if the email settings are not hampered. Pls I want to apply for N-POWER but I don't have my National ID CARD nor other ID cards that proves that I am a Nigerian like voters card etc. Now my questions are: (1) How many days will it take me to get my ID card from the Local government Council in my Area here in Ojo, Lagos if I apply for it this coming Monday? (2) Is the portal for N-POWER application still open? |

ibromodzi: If you are comfortable using python, you can achieve most of these tasks with it (just learn the relevant libraries)... However, the deeper you go into data analysis/science, the more you discover different tools and what they are best good at. My advice is that whatever tool you are learning, learn it well and practice with it.
For data manipulation, pandas is a must. For visualization, you need matplotlib and/seaborn. I highly recommend plotly for fanciful charts. I don't think you'll be needing SQL for now since you are not going to be interacting with DB. Wow. I really appreciate your Candid response. I'm already getting to the end of Pandas learning. Tho I'll keep practicing because I can see it's a must. Now like you said, my next target will be Matplotlib. Please which one is plotly again ;( And what is DB( Mongo DB??) |

jiggyniga: Yes it's another software on it's own. Pandas is meant for dataframe wrangling majorly although you can plot with it but if you need to use ANOVA you need the scipy library to do it. Wow! Thanks a lot sir! |
Programming › Re: Chronicle Of A Data Scientist/analyst by KlausMichaelson: 5:21pm On Jul 10, 2020 |
jiggyniga: I think SPSS can effectively handle most data and analysis thrown at it in the academic realm but if you are considering using python scipy and researchpy libraries could also do the same analysis but graphs in SPSS kinda suck so you can learn mathplotlib, seaborn and probably plotly for data visualization if you need something higher. But overall I think a "theoretical" in-depth knowledge of statistics is the foundation of analysis so you know why and what to do the tools are just there to enhance everything. Good day sir and thanks for your response. I really appreciate it. Sir is SPSS a library in Jupyter notebook or it's a software entirely on its own? Why Is pandas not enough for the job?? |

Good evening House. I've been following this thread for a while now. I'm a lover of Data analysis.
I'm in my final year, an Engineering student. Sooner than later when this pandemic is over, I'll be analysing my project report. I'll be using some statistical analysis like ANOVA table and others to analyse my Data.
Now I will consider myself an intermediate in Python and in Excel. Also I'm a beginner in Pandas. I'm yet to learn Sql, MySql, Matplotlib, seaborne, etc. I only have gotten an intro into Pandas and it's really cool and interesting. I'll soon be done with it.
My Questions are (1). Which among these; Pandas, Sql, Mysql, Matplotlib, seaborne among others, should I master so as to have a smooth ride in analyzing my project results. Which one also applies ANOVA table??
(2). Which of them aside Pandas (cos I've already started learning Pandas), should I start learning immediately I master Pandas? I'm very conscious of time. I'll really love to use this little time we have to master the more important ones for final year result Analysis. I want to make money from it when school resumes. I want to Master the ones I can so that I can help provide Analysis on other students project results and get paid for it.
Pls I need your Candid responses. Thank you in advance |

Amotolongbo: I advise that you go for GIS for your MSc program.
With GIS, you can find a missing link between Data Science and your discipline, Chemical Engineering. This will help you to utilize the data in chemical engineering discipline Thanks a lot for your Advice ma, I really appreciate it. I was taught GIS at some point tho. But I felt it's more useful to those in field of Geosciences. Anyways I'll also like the Analytical part of it. Thanks once again, I appreciate. |
Programming › Re: Chemical Engineering(finals) But I Have Interest In Data Science by KlausMichaelson(op): 8:58pm On Jun 23, 2020 |
Daejoyoung: I am also a chemical engineer interested in Data science, unfortunately careerwise there is almost no relationship between both, except a complete career switch in my opinion. If you are good at using data science languages like Python and R, then you can go into Bioinformatics for a Masters and PhD, which would make your switch into Data Science easier. The major option I see is to start from scratch and go into a complete switch in your masters degree by searching for Digital Engineering programs that admit engineers of all stripes. However if we ignore our very little options careerwise, I believe we can also apply data science skills on chemical datasets found on Kaggle. One can also dabble into process control and statistics as a major elective in a chemical engineering Masters degree program. Most chemical engineers use only excel and matlab for their data work, you could focus on those areas of chemical engineering as well. Thanks for your advice Fellow Colleague. I'll consider Bioinformatics or the Digital Engineering. I'll check them out. once again Thanks. |
