i am from OYO and it will do my people no good to be on their own. problem is, my people are timid people. they prefer the jollities of their semi-settled life to open confrontation.

but this will not last forever. they are beginning to find their voices again. they are saying enough is enough. they are calling for the sack of the state Commisionerof Police. adedibu has to drink the hemlock, they are sayin

CareerRe: How To Handle A Non-Paying Employer? by knotty(m): 2:29pm On Jun 28, 2007
i know of family man working in Lagos who got smoked at work because he delayed picking up his company mailbag from the airport.

but this man has not been paid his salaries for 13months.

he was ejected from his house by his landlord, his wife left him and relocated home. the man moved into a shanty along Ibafon. he was a thoroughly browbeaten man. but he held on, just like the rest of his coworkers, that tomorrow will be better.

well, the man was asked to go and not a dime has yet been paid to him. even till i am writing this.

there is so much happening in the business world which are just plain subhuman.
any court action counts for zilch with these companies. all that matter to them is their own well being, every one else can jolly smoke in hell.

it is pathetic.

i got to see the picture of the episode life on AIT.
the scene to say the least was gory, barbaric and done with absolute impunity.

there was this big hunk with a cutlass strolling and cutting passersby without any challenge whatsoever.

i saw women and children being hacked in broad daylight right on TV.
that TV footage will definitely be the best footage of the year.

something has to be done about AKALA and Adedibu. they are terror unto us all.

the duo may be the litmus test for Yar`dua and his ability to handle national security issues.
it is that bad.

Thugs Matchete 20 Protesting Oyo Workers

Protesting workers in Oyo State public service who commenced an indefinite strike action to protest wage cut by the state government on Tuesday had a raw deal in the hands of rampaging thugs who pounced on them after an ambush.
Not less than 20 of the workers, according to the Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress {NLC} in the state, Comrade Olu Abiala sustained various degrees of matchet cuts and other weapons. The state police boss, Mr. Jonathan Johnson who confirmed the incident however disclosed that his filed reports indicated that it was the protesting workers that attacked the thugs.
The state government through the Special Adviser on Public Communications Prince Dotun Oyelade said that though there was an industrial disagreement between the government and labour forces, yet it found the attack on the workers condemnable and expressed its misgivings by anybody to foist violence on the peace loving people of Oyo State. Similarly, the Action Congress (AC) in the state through its spokesman, Mr. Wole Arisekola decried the state government insensitivity which he said led to the strike and advised the government to restore glory to the workforce.

by paying the minimum wage approved by the immediate past administration in the state.
The workers angry with the reversal of their salary from N9, 400 to N6, 500 had commenced strike after three different negotiation sessions on the issue with the government had been deadlocked.
The workers began the strike with address from the leadership of the NLC in the state who advised against allowing themselves to be poached by the government and stressed the need to cross check any information from the leadership in case of confusion.
After the address, the workers resolved to embark on peaceful demonstration from the NLC secretariat to Gate through to the zonal office of the Nigerian Television Authority {NTA} to the state secretariat and back to the NLC secretariat along Yidi road.
However, on their return and with less than 1000metres to the NLC secretariat, according to the workers, a detachment of thugs at a filling station brandishing lethal weapons such as cutlasses and sticks had pounced on them, creating stampede and in the process, inflicting injuries on a sizeable of the workers.
The appearance of the hoodlums created panic and stampede in the rank of the workers who fled for their lives in an attempt to escape from the hoodlums.
In the process, some of them who fell down cheated death as vehicles ran over them. They sustained various degrees of injuries with two of the women among them being crushed by a moving vehicle following which their colleagues rescued them and rushed them to a private hospital for treatment.
At the hospital around 3.30pm, some other injured workers were sighted with some of them having matchet cuts on their head, some on their legs while some handful of them were sighted on stretchers being wheeled to the theatre for x-ray.
The injured workers displayed their injuries to newsmen when they called at the hospital describing the attack as uncalled for and unprovoked.
Those who sustained injuries on the head were directed by the doctors to go for CT scan to ascertain the degree of their head injuries.
The workers, arising from their attack on their colleagues called for a state of emergency in the state as they maintained that it was becoming obvious that their lives and property are no more safe in the hands of the state government.
In its reactions to the attack on the workers yesterday, the state government condemned the action of the hoodlums and vowed that the government won't fold its arms and allow thugs upturn the peace of the state.
The government in its reaction remarked, "whether this is the work of fifth columnists or unprovoked attacked by either of the parties, government will descend heavily on any group that wants to turn Oyo State into a battle field.
"The issue between government and labour will be settled amicably with deeper understanding of what should our individual roles while it added that the governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has ordered a swift and decisive action on this unfortunate incident.
The police command who said that it has launched a full scale investigation into the attack however claimed through its commissioner, Mr. Jonathan Johnson that the labour attacked the hoodlums first.

a government that gets installed by thuggery must be ready to sustain itself by the same thugs that put it there. this is the price OYO people must pay for being silent in the face of tyranny.

PoliticsRe: Invasion Of DAAR Communications Abuja by knotty(m): 8:40am On Jun 18, 2007
the fact of this matter is tilted only in one direction. AIT has free media at its convenience so,it is easier for them to win public sympathy. but what about those that have suffered the same fate and have no media tospeak for them?
i think FCDA has to come in the open with their own facts. only then may we be able to have informed judgement in this matter.
for now, it all too one sided joo.
no government is stupid enough to confront the media in an unnecessary battle.

I solicited for an answer and not for insult!
since you have come down to this level, I do not know if I should drag you down into some tutelage on decency or not. maybe not because you are still single and your head is only clouded with scanty picture of the real world.
marriage if you must know is not about POTTERY where you mould people into what they are not. whatever characteristics we have as individuals follows us into our homes. I am taciturn by nature, I cannot suddenly become extroverted because it suits my spouses` whim to have chatterbox around her.

marriage does not change anybody.

I am maintaining my separate room with the knowledge that many people consider it an aberration, just like my wife. but that does not give FINE BAKASSI any leverage to harangue me with her foul mouth, or is it finger this time? shi oooooo. dadandidi

I know the value of silence and of quietude, marriage is not going to take that away from me.
FamilyRe: Why Can`t We Have Separate Rooms? by knotty(op): 9:57am On Jun 09, 2007
at least she remains under my roof and i under the same roof too.

the idea of having sepapate rooms might seem preposterous to some of you but in reality it just great for me.
she riled against the idea initially Citing other people`s home. that more than anything invigorated my desire for a room of my own. i shall not lead my life and my home based on other people`s standard.

i read at odd hours meaning i have to put on the light which she does not like.

i listen to BBC, VOA at really odd hours which means i have to put on the transistor radio at ungodly hours, this she finds repulsive.

when NEPA is on, i watch cable TV all through the night, this disTurds her sleep.

when i get home a litle on the high side, i snore deeply in bed, she complains about that too.

what the heck, to let peace reign, i got myself a room.

besides all these, i am dirty, carefree and flippant. she wants a prim and spice room. i cannot change myself now. it is too late in the day.

WHY YOU WANNA CHANGE ME, THINK OF THE THINGS THAT REALLY MADE ME, THE WAY THAT I AM USED TO YOU HAPPY, WHY YOU WANNA CHANGE MEhuhhuhhuh?

In the days arguments, you will find peace in your room. that is better than sleeping out in the embrace of another female comforter outside.

BusinessRe: The New VAT Rate Of 10% by knotty(m): 2:54pm On Jun 06, 2007
before now, MTN to MTN text message used to cost N7. now it has gone to N8. please do the maths, 5% additional on 7 can never yield 8. in fact, it is 7.35. think of the multiplier effect of this small change and see why MTN is sneering at us.

some smart alecs are certainly going to profit from this Gov`t nonsense, especially those that collect vat and do not pay back.

one area this VAt thing will have crushing effect is in Import Duty payment to Government. you will soon find out that VAT will far outstrip the Duty element on most shipment into Nigeria. VAT will drive more people away from Nigerian ports. mark my word.
