Mr new IGP, the ideas suffice in this piece would be one step not too far if you can put in place a containment measure especially with the bands of desirables going from town to town causing mayhem.

We heard Boko Haram struck in Zamfara state just two days ago probably on your first day in the office, Zamfara is some 300 km from Kano City, let’s assume they are running away from the clampdown in Kano City, how come these marauders were allowed to travel with their stock in trade and nobody saw them or could curtail their mass banditry movement, something is clearly not right here with our Security System.

Christian South, Muslim North is a Western invention, at times I think the West is in the forefront and are the Vanguard of disintegration ideologies and fraternization in Nigeria.

Nigerians all know the SW is almost 50-50 Christians and Muslims although the Muslim population is going down as the years go by, one can say with some degree of certainty more Muslims are becoming Christians than Christians becoming Muslims in the SW but that does not justify the Western propagation machinery of designating the South as Christian South and the North as Muslim North. The only other area that has a huge Mulim population in the South is Auchi area of Edo State.

The North on the other hand has huge swathes of Christian domains especially Plateau State in its entirety, Zago Kataf in Southern Kaduna, the Whole of Benue State, and parts of Adamawa and Taraba State. Not mentioning parts of Niger State, Tafawa Balewa LG in Bauchi State, Gomber State, the Biu area of Borno State not to talk of the admixture in the FCT.

I carry a bullet in my lap, so nobody will talk to me about secession or breaking away. If you do, I will call a tailor, take my measurement, get back in to khaki to go and fight even at age 71.”

He also lashed Niger-Delta leaders over their possessive comments on President Goodluck Jonathan with disregard to the sensibilities of other Nigerians, who voted overwhelmingly for Jonathan at the polls.

Insisting that Nigeria has come to stay as an independent country, Babangida listed critical issues, which he said were not negotiable in a united Nigeria, irrespective of challenges and perceived differences. They are indivisibility of the nation, capitalistic nature of Nigeria and states as federating units.

According to him, these issues must not be touched as the doctrine of Nigeria settlement had come to stay, adding that for three years during the civil war, Nigerians fought for the unity of the country.

The former military leader urged the media to desist from reporting stories that centre on Christian South and Moslem North because “wherever you go in this country, you will find in the North there are Christians as much as we have Muslims. In the South, it is the same but I think the emphasis is on Christian South , Muslim North.”

Reverse engineering what? What the heck has reverse engineering got to do with this
At times u just love courting controversy, Reverse Engineering in this context is emphasising the fact that nothing ever built by man in one part of the world that cannot be replicated by man in another part of the world even if that place is the backwaters of Africa. When there is a will, hunger and desire to acquire knowledge no person can stop that drive except the individual, the state or the community itself, on this occasion the African leadership and hierarchy or the bourgeoisie has not helped matters, we should be looking into voting a selfless leader come 2015, someone who can feel the pulse, and the agony of the common man.

A man who would come into power with nothing and leave with nothing, we need our own Ghandi, no mansion in India is linked to that man (Can we say the same of IBB or OBJ), or any other Nigerian or African leader capital NO,  although I heard Ghana’s Jerry Rawlings has not got a place of abode, so far he has been one of  the most impressive African leader of our time after Kwame Nkurumah, strange how Ghana can give Africa two of the most outstanding and exemplary leaders Africa has ever seen.

Yet as the saying goes a prophet is never respected in his home turf, hence why many Ghanaians disregard Rawlings and many Nigerians admire him.

Got this from Cameroononline.org

The Nigerian Islamic sect, Boko Haram, which has been wrecking havoc in West African country, is reported to have infiltrated northern Cameroon.

The militants are said to have taken refuge in northern Cameroon as the Nigerian government has intensified its clampdown on them especially following their bombing of churches on Christmas Day that led to the death of over 50 persons.

Reports say members of the extremist group are more and more present in Lagdo, a cosmopolitan town in the North Region. Sources say they are easily identifiable by their bizarre dressing, long beads and red or black headscarves.

According to reports, for several months, Lagdo residents have testified that the strangers are combing surrounding villages and actively preaching anti-Western sermons, establishing units and proposing huge amounts of money to those willing to follow them.

In a bid to prevent cross-border activities by militants of the Islamic sect, the Nigerian government recently temporarily shut down its land borders with Cameroon, Chad and Niger.

Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, in a televised national address recently, said the closure of the border was to control supposed cross-border activities by members of the sect. He also decreed a state of emergency in 15 local government areas in the Borno, Plateau, Niger and Yobe states.

“The temporary closure of our borders in the affected areas is only an interim measure designed to address the current security challenges and will be reviewed as soon as normalcy is restored”, he said.

It would be recalled that recently during a security coordination meeting, the Governor of the North region of Cameroon, Gambo Haman, enjoined security forces to be on alert, highlighting the incursion of Boko Haram militants into parts of the region.

“The Boko Haram being chased from Nigeria’s northeast, as well as thousands of runaway Chadian soldiers in irregular situation here must be closely monitored to avoid unwanted trouble throughout the national territory,” he cautioned.

Nonetheless, administrative official in the region are quoted as saying there is no need yet for panic

“We cannot begin to arrest suspects because the law does not allow for that. At the moment, they are not breaking the law,” one of them is quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, authorities in the region have reinforced surveillance and many Quran learning centres have been reportedly shut down, while Islam teachers are being closely watched by intelligence operatives.

It would be noted that last year some authorities within the Islamic community in Cameroon had warned that the increasing crack down on the Boko Haram in Nigeria may cause them to run to Cameroon. Cameroon, some of them alleged, was no longer just a hideout for the militants but a field for enlisting converts.

Sources within the Moslem community say there are many indicators that militants of the sect are in Cameroon and are preaching their doctrines in some mosques. It would be recalled that not long ago the Divisional Officer for Limbe I sub-division, Tsanga Foe, closed a mosque in Limbe when there were allegations that members of Boko Haram had infiltrated it. Other pointers that the militants are in Cameroon, sources say, are the distribution of CDs and fliers with the Boko Haram doctrine.

However, government seems to have heeding to the warning of Moslems in Cameroon as recently the Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri division, Bernard Okalia Bilai, convened Imams and Muslim community leaders in Douala and instructed them to come out with ways of repelling any establishment of the sect in Douala and other parts of Cameroon.

“We have been informed of attempts of Boko Haram infiltration. Their doctrine is anti-social as it condemns western education. It’s a doctrine that persuades young graduates to rip their degrees because it’s satanic. It’s a doctrine that condemns what today constitutes the values of our society and top authorities of the country don’t accept that such hateful dogma is established in our communities, and thus the necessity of this meeting. We must be vigilant,” he counselled.

It is also worth noting that when Chadian President, Idriss Deby, came visiting recently, terrorist fears was part of his discussion with President Paul Biya.

“We must remain very vigilant to the consequences of the upheavals that have occurred in the north of our continent. It is of no interest to anyone that a zone of instability emerges close to our northern borders. In that light, our solidarity is of utmost importance,” Biya told Deby.

On his part, Deby called for a cross-border Security Mixed Commission session to chart ways of dealing with increasing Boko Haram and AQMI (the Maghreb branch of al-Qaeda) threats

It was gathered that the leader of Boko Haram, Imam Abubakar Shekau who is currently hiding away in Qoundere, Cameroun following the recent and ongoing attacks on Kano and Bauchi State – had deliberated seriously on the assassination of the former president of Nigeria, General Obasanjo on September 15, 2011 while on a visit to Borno State to the home of the in-law to the slain leader of Boko Haram [Ustaz Mohammed Yusuf].

Politics › Every Town In The North Should Be Surrounded By A Ring Of Steel by KnowAll(op): 11:05am On Jan 24, 2012
Put a ring of steel around every capital city in the north and every other problematic town in the North and before long Boko Haram would be history.

I can’t believe in this day and age Boko Haram operatives are still allowed to roam about in the North like Cattle-Fulani’s and nobody seems to be bothered or perturbed by it, commonsense would have pre-empt that the Security Operatives would have taken some clearly workable and defined strategy by condoning off and set up SECURITY barriers tasked with the dire duty of checking all in-coming and out-going vehicles in and out of every major city in the North. One would have thought that scenario by now should be part of the topography in the North if we are really serious about fighting and stopping Boko Haram in its track.

The men mounting the security condone would be operating from orders from above, which means all vehicles including convoys of State Governors, Emirs and ex military men and women would be subject to a thorough search, that is the only way we can defeat this cancer that is tearing our country apart.

Since we don’t know our enemy and we equally don’t know who the sponsors are, all persons must be subject to this gruelling search irrespective of status or clout in the society. The Security barriers would be separated by a 300 or 400 metres gaps in between them. The subsequent checkpoints would administer the same thorough checks as encountered earlier, thereby countering any compromise or lapses in the procedure. Also security operatives would be moved around a lot so as to deter any planned subversion.

Jonathan said it in Kano, Boko Haram are not spirits, yes they are not spirits and since  they are human they can be detected and defeated and rightly so,  as long as a water tight and formidable security procedure is put in place.

We should stop this silly cat and mouse game we are playing with Boko Haram and tackle this problem with military precision. At times I wonder where all the thinking people in Nigeria has disappeared to, or is it true that the beautiful ones are not yet born.   huh undecided
