Politics › Re: Saraki Declares For Presidency Today ! by KnowAll(m): 9:13am On Sep 17, 2010
I would have thought being the Chairman of both the Northern Governors Forum and National Governors forum he would have made his views, plans and desires known to some of his colleagues who would in turn give him an undeniable loyalty. At this stage of the competition he should be toting up his numbers, breaking into that uncharted territory of having 15 to 18 Governors who would vouch and vote him.

I still think the confidence ensuing from this Gentleman has a familiar clandestine pattern, the treachery which would unfold in the days and weeks to come shall surprise a lot of Nigerians, it would surpass and overwhelm celebrated treachery cases like those of Judas and Brutus. We have to remember there are no permanent friends in politics but permanent interest

We have to remember also that the primaries if I am not mistaking would be a secret ballot system and anything can happen when a man cast his vote and put it into an envelope out of view of his fellow next man.

OBJ’s 3rd term should serve as a reminder, despites giving all the members of the house of Reps and Senate N50 million each he still failed.

Most of those cruel lying politicians promising Jonathan heaven and Earth, Jonathan should take such promises with a caution. Men are evil and they would definitely manifest themselves in this election.

Buhari should have taking care of IBB and Abacha back in the days, those were the guys that f***kEd him up. If he had done that then, today we would be living in an El-dorado and he would be feted and reverred throughout the land. His Presidential ambition went up in smoke the day he was over thrown from power. Only simpletons and weaklings are caught in that inglorius web called palace coup. Can you imagine being caged like a rat by your subordinates.

Palace coup is the worse kind of coup, to the perpetuators you are one big buffon and mugu. To yourself and your family you are a disgrace, if you cannot take care of your own welbeing how would it be possible for you to take care of 150 million Nigerians. undecided huh

Barclay’s Bank in the UK mismanaged her funds and took some unprecedented risk during the sub-prime mortgage crisis, what did they do to re-coup some of the loss back, they offered a right offer at £0.45p per share, a lot people bought it then, I missed out, those who bought it early last year are smiling all the way to their Banks. Today the share is worth £4.75p that is almost 9 times the right offer price.

Today Barclays Bank is not only solvent but sound and back to their feet, all the panic and disaster of that era is now history.

What our CBN needed to do was to call IBRU and Akingbola to order, advise them to re-capitalise and all would be history, it is not rocket science. But what did our clueless Mallam Governor do, unleash a sledge hammer on what is a simple Banking procedure that can be reversed.
Politics › Re: Labaran Maku Says Banking Mess Is Soludo's Fault by KnowAll(m): 9:58am On Sep 16, 2010
The problem of Nigerians is that our so called political elites are a bunch of envious and jealous lot, Ibru and Akingbola’s bank are private banks started some 20 odd years ago. They built it to the conglomerate we have today.

If the owners are drawing down on their investment which is common in most businesses, I don’t see any problem with that, except of course the business is now a public company and listed in the stock exchange.

But come on we are talking Nigeria here where illegality is the what makes the society ticks, do u overkill because of a minor financial misdemeanour when there are more urgent and delicate issues to take care off. I see Sanusi ‘ s action as someone using a sledge hammer to kill a fly. If corruption has not permeated our financial industry why do we have a problem in NSE today.

No depositor in any of these Banks loss a Kobo or were prevented from withdrawing their money b4 Sanusi’s heavy handedness.

The Governor believes he is above the house, we are in a democracy and the House can impeach any Governor if Governance in the state has broken down, clearly that is the case in Ogun State. Jonathan’s protection of an illegality can even bring him down if care is not taking.
Politics › Re: Ogun Assembly Crisis: G15 Passes Vote Of 'no Confidence' On State Governor by KnowAll(m): 8:37am On Sep 16, 2010
I think this Governor is a goner, 2/3 of a house of assembly cannot be against a Governor and that Governor survives it. I think the judiciary should interprete the law to all concerned here, otherwise there would be anachy in Ogun State and the FG goverment would be attracting subversive and condescending voices in some quarters especially the military if these imbroglio in Ogun State is allowed to continue unabated. The house should be allowed to sit and conduct her business if they want to impeach their Governor let it be.

If Saraki does not have at least 10 Governros on his side then he should bow out gracefully and fight another day. 2015 is around the corner and it is open for all asundry, the Igbos who have being dreaming and salivating over the Presidency from time memorial would like to have a crack at it, the Northerners would put more effort at getting the Presidency back after Jonathan's stint.

Jonathan renegading on his promise that he would not run for a 2nd term, but now decided to have a 2nd term because constitutionally he is entitled to it. If Jonathan does not run Sambo would definately throw his hat in the ring, Ribadu would be in the mix ready to roar into action, 2015 would be an exciting time in Nigeria Politics.

Mrs. Olushola was one of the seven managing directors appointed by the Central Bank of  Nigeria, CBN, on 2 October, 2009 to replace the sacked ones.
Another howler by messers Sanusi, one of his protegees has just done a runner. I repeat please give the Original owners of the Banks their property,  it does not matter who u put at the helms of affairs of this institutions,  fraud would still be perpetuated.

It is better for the real owners to be mindful of the risk they want their busineses to undergo than for cowboys from outside the business to come in and pillage the place knowing that as far as they are concerned it is not their father's money.

We should remember and not forget that,  despite all the negative press on Akingbola and Ibru they grew their Banks from a one branch family Bank into a listed Bank in the Stock Exchange with Branches all over Nigeria and West Africa.

Give 5,000 men full training and the ammunitions required plus a minimum pay of N100,000.00 a month, even at a low statistics which equates to 7 coppers per LG they would take down a hoard and enough load of unskilled and illiterate hoodlums carrying guns intimidating people all over our country, these people who are no more than street urchins with a weapon would be taught a good lessons by a skilled force.

These hooligans who terrorize Nigerians all over the country are presently enjoying the fear factor, they know that when they go and raid a location both citizens and the supposedly Law Enforcement Officer’s take to their heels.

With 7 Brave and well paid men whose desire is to be in the thick of the action,  charging towards a melee and anarchy would have made their day, those unruly marauders brandishing arms all over the place would surely be giving a proper thumping and a bitter taste of their own medicine in such confrontation. I agree with Ribadu that it is doable.

For this same reason I have always canvassed for the introduction of Bounty Hunters whose prerogative and job would be to bring the scalps of hoodlums to the attention of authority for a fee, this method works where law and order has broken down.

I am afraid Nigeria in 2010 is just like the Western Part of the US of the 1820’s.

If a present day Malian were to raise his child in Ilorin today, definitely that child would speak Yoruba. Does that make the Malian a Yoruba man? Are you people arguing these unbalance and skew arguments saying Igbo’s who grew up in Lagos and are fluent in the Yoruba language, are they Yoruba’s?

The Saraki’s are what they claim to be,  just because they grew up in Ilorin does not make them Yoruba’s,  that is not to say that there are no indigenous people of the city of Ilorin who are Yoruba’s,  in fact the Yoruba’s are the majority but also the Hausa/Fulani’s are also an integral part of the Ilorin community

Wasn't there 450 tribes in Nigeria in 1999?

How come only Yoruba was contesting the presidency in 1999?!
It is on record IBB reminded us recently that him and a few other power brokers from the North facilitated OBJ's release from prison and invariably endorsing him for the Presidency due to the hearthache and pains the Yoruba nation had towards the North due to the Abiola anullment of 1993.

I hapless and dumb-founded to know IBB is a Yoruba man going by your quotation above. OBJ's endorsement had the blessing of at least 5 Geo-Political ZOnes.

Do not try the Igbo. That is a WARNING.

Remember we are the only people who have been known to shake Nigeria to its core. No other tribe has been able to do this.

If you think the Ndi Igbo cower from anyone, you are sadly mistaken. We are ready for anything. That is why many of our brothers have been stockpiling weapons just case another conflict arises.
So Blackmailing and Violence MEND's instrument of choice is the only way Igbo's can acheive their ambition of becoming  President. I know a lot Igbo's would rather have a theiving and Journalist bashing Igbo Governor selected OR Coronated as the President than have a dove of a man with good intention for the nation from any other tribe.  Some of u Igbo folks really need to examine yourselves.  undecided
Politics › Re: Ibos May Clinch The Presidency In The Next 16 Years Or Never by KnowAll(m): 11:02pm On Sep 12, 2010
The Igbo's would not clinch any Presidency at anytime in our history if they chose to play politics as if they are in relay race. Passing the baton Poltics is unheard off and stuff of Kindergaten or pre-school politics, that Bullsh*t that IBB is saying is inconceivable and inpracticaible.

Does the Igbo think the Yoruba's, Edo's, Igala's,Hausa/Fulani's and the Beroms would fold their arms while the most coveted sit in the nation is giving to them on a platter of gold without a fight, unless the Igbo's can come out with a clean and sincere candidate who have not gotten a corruption plague hanging over his neck, it is then one can think of that possiblity, that kind of personalty is thin on the ground in the SE, WHY hand over the Presidency to ANYONE of those established rogues parading themselves as a potential VP to IBB.

What the Igbo's should do is look for someone savvy enough that can play politics the way guile and smart politicians have played politics all over the world. This cry baby attitude would not cut it in Nigeria now or in the future. The Igbo's had better learn to walk, playing the victim in a war is not good enough reason why every other tribe in the land would put their own and collective ambition of their people on hold so as to appease the Igbo's.

The Igbo's can climb the roof top and shout out to all that Biafra is the only way out for them since they have being denied the Presidency, that would not move anyone, they should learn to play poltics the way it has always being played one day it would be their turn being obsess with the Presidency would not cut it.

Ribadu is not a Yoruba man and I can categorically say he would get more votes amongst the Younger Yorubas if he runs head to head against Jonathan. Why is he popular in the SW, BECAUSE he is passionate about a cause which a lot of people can identify themselves with.
Politics › Jonathan Would Not Win The Primaries If: ? by KnowAll(op): 10:03pm On Sep 12, 2010
Jonathan Goodluck cannot win the primaries if a sincere and a proper transparent primary were conducted in the mode of the western primaries. In the UK all interested parties wishing to carry the can for the party would be expected to register their interest by picking up the forms and paying the necessary fees and dues as required signifying their interest.

On Election Day if at the end of the day there were 7 contestants in the race, the first ballot would be what is called the First Past the Post System.

That is the person with the highest vote would be declared the winner of the first round. The person who is declared winner at this stage of the competition might not necessary be the most popular person amongst delegates,  the winner at this stage of the contest might poll only 20% of votes cast, imagine a Presidential Candidate that cannot even secure 50% of the votes in his own party wanting to rule the country. That to me is a fallacy and unacceptable hence why many countries in the world today adopt the Second Ballot System which is the purest and most transparent form of a democratic election.

If the winner of the First Past the Post, poll less than 50% of all delegate votes of, a second ballot becomes a necessity, invariably the second ballot system is used to separate the wheat from the chaffs that is it gives us and the lay man on the street a clearer picture who the decisive winner is.

I hope Jonathan would be man enough to go through the gruel and scrutiny of this system having promise the nation a free and fair election. Charity they say begins at home, the PDP if they embrace  the Second Ballot System would have proven to the world that they are a fully democratic Party, the past coronation exercise I hope would not be revisited and belongs to a bygone era.  If it is business as usual the whole essence of Jonathan and PDP giving INEC N84 billion to conduct a free and fair would already have being defeated as a simple democratic principle would have being shunned for a more nepotical and coronational system.

The good thing about the Second Ballot System is the most popular candidate would emerge, incumbency and reputation counts for noting, even the almighty Iron Lady of Britain, Magaret Thatcher failed in the second ballot after initially winning the first ballot just marginally.

It is during this second ballot that trusted men and friends of a favourable candidate show their true colours, treachery is rife at this stage of the election, long age colleagues throw caution into the winds by displaying their animosity and frostiness towards the popular candidate without any care in the world, they exhibit their fangs and dark cloaks in public to the disgust of such contestant.

The Second Round System

The two-round system (also known as the second ballot, runoff voting or ballotage) is a voting system used to elect a single winner. Under runoff voting, the voter casts a single vote for their chosen candidate. However, if no candidate receives an absolute majority of votes, then those candidates having less than a certain proportion of the votes, or all but the two candidates receiving the most votes, are eliminated, and a second round of voting occurs.

Runoff voting is used around the world for the election of legislative bodies and directly elected presidents. For example, it is used in French presidential, legislative, and cantonal elections, and also to elect the presidents of Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Finland, Ghana, Guatemala, Indonesia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Uruguay, Zimbabwe —see: Table of voting systems by nation.

If we have this system in place in the PDP Primaries Jonathan would win the first round, Saraki  would come second provided he runs, and OBJ and Atiku would be 3rd and 4th. Any other Northern Governor who is planning to throw his or her hat in the ring would be 5th,6th and 7th.

If a second ballot where to be conducted all other factions 2nd to 7th would line up behind Saraki if he is contesting and if he dosen’t they would line up behind IBB. If this system where to be used Jonathan would not get the ticket.

Why all the furore about  this chap being the first Igbo COAS since 1966, the chap should consider it as a bad omen as his military career would halt to an abrupt end in 2 years time. In a sense it is good for the Igbo’s but on a personal note to him and his family, he would only be in this post for 2 years going by recent trends since the commencement of democracy.

Is it something to celebrate, in a way for the Igbo’s yes !!,  but for his wife and family the 2 years hangman noose round their husband and father’s neck b4 he even takes up the new post is not something to celebrate?  It is more like an urgency for any honest man to change tact and grab whatever he can lay his hands on within that 2 years window otherwise he would be the butt of all jokes in family meetings and gatherings.

My fear is that with this new common trend of a 2 year stint for the COAS, the men ushered-IN into this highly sorted and prestigious post would be toiling night and day, scheming left, right and centre, at making enough dough b4 their 2 years expires otherwise they would end up in the scrap yard and out of pocket.

Has our nation finally made it a standard rule which should be adhered to, have we as a nation succumbed to the ugly and dire practise of institutionalising and politicizing our Armed Forces and the Police to the peril of the nation,  thereby destroying any iota of Professionalism that might still be left in our armed forces.
