juicee1: One thing I'll like you to know is that lagos is a blessed place. No matter what you do to hurt it, it still grows. FCT was taken away from it to make it dilapidated, but see how developed it has become due to yoruba wisdom in fashola. Abuja can't even stand its commercial stance. When people claim lagos is just enjoying oil money from Niger delta, they were quickly silenced by the discovery of oil in lagos. Lagos is currently building a world class international airport in lekki which will divert a lot of foreign flights to itself because of the beauty of lekki. Talk about the refinery, free trade zone, badagry port, lekki deep sea port and the superb Eko atlantic artificial island just to mention a few. It is ridiculous to think the removal of a market where substandard electronic goods and pirated CDs are sold will cripple lagos. Majority of electronic companies are now opening showrooms across the state and the nation. So, whatever delusional glory alaba market has will fade off in the next couple of years. People now do shopping malls, not 2by2 shops.
What do you think ambode is up to with his recent meetings with korean and asian ambassadors? I believe his about to give them incentives so they can bring in their automobile companies to lagos.
Lagos leads...others follow
Let peace reign All those developments are private sector driven, and is based on the calculation that lagos mega city status remain intact. If Igbos leave or you drive them away from lagos, with their population, dynamism, entrepreneurial drive, tax base, consumption and etc, you will see those private investors do a recalculation and strategy on lagos state government. Most Igbos in Lagos understand that the Yoruba elites and leaders will continue to bend over for the Igbos to continue thriving in lagos. The character of Igbo dynamism in lagos is different from others. For those Igbos agitating for the state of Biafra, they can achieve it without firing a shot. All they want to do, is to provoke the yorubas until they settle for, true federalism, regional government or Biafra in that order. |

Igbonazy: You guys dont seem to get it, i dont give a damn what ikwerre says they are or are not even if they go to war to reject being called igbo its complete rubbish and doesnt change a thing or what they are - Rivers igbo. Ikwerre sounds very close to other eastern languages, they will be categorized as igbo by those who study languages or something like that even if they are from Mars, there is ABSOLUTLY nothing they can do about it except they greatly alter their language from sounding like other eastern languages.
No one is Really igbo in Eastern Nigeria... Now listen carefully, doo nti gi aka: The name IGBO is used in describing tribes with very similar languages just like biologists use Primate to describe Animals with similar features (like monkey, gorilla, chimpanzee, human etc). If you go to jupiter now and find animals that share thesame feature with earth Monkeys, baboons, gorrilla, human etc you will call them PRIMATE likewise if you go to Jamaica and find a tribe that speaks something close to what ikwerre, anambra or nsukka man speaks, that tribe AUTHOMATICALLY get grouped as IGBO. Nobody is really born Igbo in Eastern Nigeria,it's just collection of tribes that speak very similar languages. IGBO is just a " Collective term" for languages that are very similar. I am an Nsukka man,Abiriba or Abatete man not really an igboman, what makes them call me an igboman is the similarity my nsukka language for example shares with owerri or other Southeastern languages... NSUKKA man says <papa gu ne eku gi>(your father is calling you) OWERRI man says <papa gu la apko gi> the only difference is the EKU and AKPO.This many similarity is why both nsukka and owerri are group under the igbo nation. Owerri for example can easily quit the igbo Union but can never quit being igbo because the Igbo grouping is like a formula that can never be altered. Nobody i repeat No igbo can wakeup one day and decide not to be igbo.
We are all novice in this field and are driven by our emotion. Let's leave the argument for the professional and move on. Ikwerres and other Igboids are all Igbos whose history were rooted in the Republican nature of all the Igbo people period. In time another group might break away from Ikwerre or any other Igboid group. ( ndi kwe, ndi ekweyi and autonomous, Igbo ewe eze, republican ways of life form the bedrock of Igbo societies from the beginning of time). |

Flyoruboy: The biggest mistake the Igbos, or any other group for that matter, can ever make is in espousing the delusional notion that they are indispensable. It was Charles De Gaulle that made the famous quote that "The Graveyards Are Full of Indispensable Men". In other words, the world will always adapt and move on. Nigeria will move on. It's like saying that if the North abandons Agriculture in Nigeria we will all starve to death. Hell no we won't, we will fill the void, somehow someway. Or that without Oil Nigeria will cease to exist -- even when evidently Nigeria existed and even thrived better before the discovery of Oil. Necessity they say is the mother of inventions. You are naively mistaken in underestimating the gift of resilience inherent in other Nigerians in your attempt to make your point. If Ghana, Togo, Kenya and other smaller and less endowed countries can survive without Igbo traders then I don't see why any other region in the country won't either. Don't kid yourself bro. I repeat, nobody is indispensable. Another excellent/perfect point,......but the primary reason for this relocation drive by the Igbos is for their self preservation as a group, and not about their indispensability as the case may be. The idea of their indispensability as you rightly observed comes from their boastfulness and loud nature,......but beyond that, Igbos understand the comparative advantages of other groups especially the yorubas, and would like to see Odua reach the apex of her potentials on her own, and not about how indispensable a group is or not |

Flyoruboy: We already have our own traders who specialize in their own niche products and are ok with the status quo but make no mistake about it, in the eventuality that igbo traders move out of Lagos, they will only increase competition for whatever trade they are leaving behind because nature will take its course as long as there is demand and their void will definitely be filled. I know you are an intelligent fella so it's not rocket science.
And look, just so you know, I have no problem patronizing igbo business in Lagos, especially the ones that deal in genuine products. But to think that they are indispensable in a sector like trading is a joke of epic proportions. Good point though, but there are some elements of Igbo trading attributes that are indispensable. The resourcefulness/ connection/network/fx/remittances of the global Igbo diasporan group are indispensable for now when they move. The yoruba diasporan population are not as dynamic, hence they should be controlling/maintaining those markets in the first place. |

And anyway....wherever I hear peope shouting Biafra or Jihad, or odua, or marginalisation etc....I wonder....what are you people really calling for. Development....or a share of the national cake.
One thing I know...as a Nigerian.....there is no national cake....and all of you lazy Nigerians(yes...that means all of you...not one section of the country) need to work. Oil is becoming worthless....and the price will stay low permanently.
So.....if you people want to fight a never ending resource war....fine. If you people want to drop the pretence...and the tribal and religious bigotry....and work for the development of your local area by making your governors work for you and by diversifying your economies....which by the by would bring in more money than you can dream of (and yes...pollution of the envt by oil means a chance to develop clean up industries and innovations)....that's even better.
You Nigerians......I have long since left tribal affiliations behind....and I laugh at you....you better wake up. Why is your region still underdeveloped after years of power at the center? Does that tell you something? "Lord have mercy". Nigeria is a faild state, after went through trillions of dollars, that some of the newly developed countries in Asia can't even dream of, and yet , some humans are reasoning like this. |

Evvery half educated youth down south has this dumbed down belief that they are in a forceful union with other tribes. It is not other tribes doing it but politicians, businessmen and global businessmen. Dont deceive yourself also that they want your oil wealth. The average northern youth does not feel the effects of oil wealth the same way the youths of the SS are not feeling it much. The truth is that the so called Muslims expelled easterner s violently in the sixties and if given the chance they would do it again. Nigeria is being kept alive by God himself for his purposes and the people we mentioned before. Let me put it in perspective - there would be no Dangote, Adesina, Otedola, Danjuma if there were no Nigeria. So you are beginning to understand. The advice for youths is to fight for their future in their country. Stop tribalism, stop supporting corrupt politicians, fight for good laws ET. But the problem is that they are too obsessed with the Igbo man progress, that they often lose sight of the big picture, which is the fact that stopping the Igbo man progress, will not make them progressive. They can only progress by working on their own progress, without minding whatever the Igbo man is doing. "Bunkon". Take beauty and sports for example. The whites and Asian will never never accept our humanity, if we all cannot figure out what name we are answering means, while only the Whites know the secret behind that name, then, we are worst than slaves or robots, because the secret behind that maybe decoded and passes on from generation to generation to the very few elites, who have the custody of the interpretation of that secret. You can't risk that in this 21st century. The decoded secret might even mean "a race of people of said geographical expression to be terminated by a chosen futuristic date" no body knows, cos 100% citizens of the said entity do not know what's behind the name they are answering. One thing for sure, is that, that name has its root from the darkest chapter of human/African history, when black Africans are defined as 3/4 of human being of which the yorubas typify that designation. |

Ewu He may be right. In history, slaves were used as cannon fodders by their masters when real men are fighting for their freedoms. Most red Indians in North America were conquered using that approach. The British used some pacified Ghananian tribes under the west Africa frontier force to subdued Hausa, Igbo and yorubas into a forced union. Here at home, the lesser or almost 'slaves' almagiris are used as cannon fodders in all the suicide bombings. By the way, have you noticed that those almagiris(slaves) use as cannon fodders by their lighter skinned fulani masters are as charcoal black as yorubas?. Have you ever seen a lighter skinned suicide bomber, and maybe I must be wrong. Bro, this is undiluted straight talk. The yoruba(African) type, because of their genetic reality, their extreme dark heart towards those othe Africans who might not be as extreme dirty black in appearance as in their heart as the yorubas is the #1 reason, Africans, the black race have remained slaves. The white world understood this reality 4 centuries ago in the plantations of south and north America, when different slaves from different tribes are mixed together. The white men divide and control/ conquer actually were handed down to them by the yoruba type as more beautiful women from other slave tribes turned down their men down. The jealousy went deeper as white slave masters preferred prettier Igbo types. Igbos vividly understand this for over a century now. That's why they want separation from you. This extreme jealousy as in the plantation fields reared it's ugly head again in nollywood, and the cold war there has spilled into politics as yorubas are subtly fighting under the banner of "Igbos are 100% pirates in the entertainment industry". |

Just my opinion though No is not one sided my friend. Femi's high light is not even deep enough. Spiritual #3 was also inculcate in crafting into "A Nigeria of heagelian dialectic matrix in dystopia". Occultist minds were also involved. Dystopia which means chaos or anarchy in perpetuity can be crafted in dialectic, using a primary dialectic material. The primary dialectic material used in nigeria dystopia were the falsification of the first National census showing the arid north as more populated than the densely populated south. Crafting for a desired outcome required absolute understanding of the subject matter to be act upon, hence the above observation of the tribes by Lord Lugard as highlighted by Femi. #3 is a spiritual #, and is also understood by the occults. Inside the spiritual ring, 2 will always stand against 1 cos there is no other one(making it 4) to counter balance the 2 in order to create a balance, stability peace, development etc, instead of dystopia. |
