The acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday blamed the Federal Government for the ethnic agitations across the country.

He said the failure of the state to provide the basic needs for the people had forced them to seek succour in their respective ethnic groups.



He said the political elite had failed the people through looting of funds meant for their social welfare.

Osinbajo spoke during the 50th conference of the Nigerian Law Teachers Association held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

The acting President said most of the security problems confronting the nation were self-inflicted, resulting from corrupt practices, injustices, among others.

He said it was the duty of the three arms of government to provide the enabling environment for the enhancement of the quality life for the people.

He said, “The Boko Haram in the North-East, militants in the Niger Delta and farmer/herdsmen clashes were as a result of poverty.

“A lot of these agitations centred on the failure of the state to create an inclusive society, a failure to guarantee the security of lives and property by the agencies charged with the responsibility and the failure to build trust around the rule of law and justice system of administration.”

Osinbajo said lack of provision of basic needs of life to the people remained the greatest source of tension in the country.

He decried the level of unemployment which had made the Nigerian youth vulnerable to be recruited as kidnappers, anti-social agitators and violence of all sorts.

Osinbajo, who said he started teaching law in 1981, described law teachers as the custodians and creators of law.

He added “We are the thinkers for our system of justice. We have often contested the usefulness of law to the society.”

While noting that the law teachers’ forum offered them the opportunity to interact on the fundamental issues and ideas that bound them together, Osinbajo advised them to come up with solutions to the Nigerian jurisprudence and legal system.

Earlier, the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, had expressed worry over the rate at which criminals were being granted bail by courts, describing the trend as ugly.

He called on the participants to take advantage of the conference to proffer solutions to such problems.

These elaborate Ebos (Sacrifices) were prepared by me "Babalawo Orisa", Babalawo Edos, Babalawo Igie for an Ogun Priest and my Omo Awo was present to learn the fundamentals of Ebos (Sacrifices).

We used animals head to touch our head, chests, private parts and buttocks with special prayers.

Then, the head of each animals (goat, hen, tortoise) where cut off, the blood of these animals where poured on the divinities, charms, spiritual bathing water to empower them and these ebos (sacrifices) where offered as a sacrifice to Orunmila, Ogun, Esu and Mother Earth.

The body of these animals where cooked and where used to prepared a delicious egusi soup with pounded yam which we ate glady and prayed for the Ebo Benefactors "Ogun Priest And Family".

EBOS (SACRIFICES) DIVINATION

Several Odus appeared during the Ebos (Sacrifices) and the Odus that came out where Ejiogbe, Oyeku, Ogunda Meji, Okonron and Ika.

I divine Ogunda Meji for the Ogun Priest, Babalawo Igie divine Ejiogbe, Oyeku and Okonron for the Ogun Priest and Babalawo Edos divine Ika for the Ogun Priest and we also divine for ourselves and for non-initiates present during these elaborate elaborate Ebos (Sacrifices) using four mouth kola, 16 cowries and okpele.

Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi ll has said that Nigeria will remain one and indivisible country.

He appealed to those agitating for the country’s split to have a rethink.

Sanusi said this on Monday when he received the newly installed Garkuwan Hausawa in Ogun, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, in his palace.

Emir Sanusi said if Nigerians respect each other, they would continue to remain as one entity irrespective of their tribes, religion and cultural differences.

“This is what we, the traditional rulers are promoting among our subjects. So, we should ignore our difference and help in building one country.”

He called on Hausa community residing outside the North to respect the culture, tradition and norms of their host communities for peaceful co-existence.

“You should be good ambassadors of the north and ensure that you leave in peace and harmony with your host communities. Nigeria will remain one and indivisible country and Nigerians will continue to be one family".

“I was delighted when I learnt of your goodwill to Hausa people in Ogun state. I am not surprise of the good testimonies I hear about you taking cognizance of the fact that you are from a ruling house.

“Oba Awujale of Ijebu Land is my personal friend. We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship; and I feel happy for the role you are playing as the Garkuwan Hausawa to ensure cordial relationship between my people and the Yorubas.”

The Garkuwan Hausawa, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, said he was at the palace to pay homage to Emir Sanusi and receive his blessings as the newly crowned Garkuwan Hausawa.

Paseda, also the national leader of Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) said, he had enjoyed fruitful relationship with the Hausa people living in Ogun state.

“They are my brothers. I ensure that they are happy and I can testify to you that they have remained good ambassadors of the Hausa race in the state.

“They live in peace with us and I will ensure that the status quo is maintained,” he added.

Respect of one's culture or living in peace by the Hausas/Fulanis living outside the North are not enough to transform/modernize/industrialize or develop Nigeria period. The dysfunctional political structure needs to be restructured asp.

This is coming after the CEO of Capital Oil & Gas Ltd, Chief (Dr) Ifeanyi Ubah was arrested by the Department of State Service, DSS, following allegation of corruption.

On a message he shared on his Facebook page, the APC chieftain also warned people of the Southeast and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stop defending Ifeanyi Ubah.

Igbokwe noted that Igbos in the PDP are the most fanatical mourners of ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan’s loss to APC in 2015.

According to him, “Just recently the DSS invited a friend of mine and bonafide son of Nnewi, Chief (Dr) Ifeanyi Ubah of Capital Oil & Gas Ltd fame to come and give an account of the whereabouts millions of liters of PMS stored by NNPC on his Tank farms. Since this invitation, I have read some funny write-ups online in defense of the Nnewi Chief and some trying to read ethnic meaning to DSS intervention.


“Now the truth is this: My good friend Chief Ifeanyi Ubah is capable of defending himself and Capital Oil & Gas Ltd. He has formidable structures in place and good lawyers to defend his case.
