Nairaland GeneralRe: Things You Can Do With A Toothpaste That You Never Knew by kobenol(m):
Ariyke: embarassedAm allergic to visiting ur blog post it here embarassed
You don't have to...I believe our man is begging for traffic. Anyway in my benevolence here's the text.
Things You Can Do With A Toothpaste That You Could Ever Imagine!
You’ll be amazed to know how many benefits an ordinary toothpaste can provide. You can start considering your toothpaste a “Magic tube” because the miracles it can do for you are simply unbelievable.

The origin of toothpaste can be traced back to ancient Egyptian civilization when a mixture of myrrh, burned eggshells, pumice, ox-hoof ash and water was used for the first time to keep the teeth clean. The formulae got fame under the name of toothpaste in 1850s. The first collapsible toothpaste tube was introduced by Dr. Washington Sheffield in London in 1892. His son brought the idea from artists in Paris who used oil paints in metallic tubes. Later in 1896 Clogate and Company made the imitation of Sheffield’s collapsible tubes under the name of Colagte Ribbon Dental Cream.

The primary function of toothpaste is to maintain oral health; it keeps the cavities away and protects you from gum diseases. It is recommended to brush your teeth twice a day for at least 3 minutes. Ok! Enough with the use of toothpaste for teeth! It’s about time you take it out of your washroom and use it around your home. Don’t know how?
Here is how you can make use of this “Magic tube”:

Tooth paste as a hand sanitizer
Want to make your hands germ free? Take a drop of toothpaste and mix it with a little water, apply this mixture to your hands. The mixture would not only work as a disinfectant but would also help you get rid of the dreadful smell of the onions and garlic if you have diced one.

Piano Cleaner
Constant tickling on the ivory piano keys can turn them dirty. You can clean them up, the same way you clean your teeth. All you need is a brush and toothpaste, brush the keys of the piano well and then rub them with a damp cloth. If toothpaste can work on human teeth, it can also work well on elephant’s teeth (ivory). Toothpaste is equally good as a cleaner for modern pianos with plastic keys.

Fix Nail Holes
We know nail holes make your walls look bad and you might need some professional help to fix them. Wait! Try toothpaste. You can easily fill the nail holes with toothpaste, let it dry and touch it up with paint. Problem solved!

Excellent Stain Remover for Clothes
Ink, lipstick, ketchup! Dropped them on clothes? Don’t worry! Toothpaste will make these stains vanish in a minute. Just apply some tooth paste on these tough stains, scrub them, rinse well and poof! They are gone.
You can even clean up your carpet stains with the help of toothpaste in the same way.

Quick Remedy for Pimples
Need a quick remedy to treat those pimples? Simple! Apply toothpaste on the pimple at night and wash it in the morning. By morning, it will be gone. Toothpaste effectively absorbs the oil from the pimples, making them dry and flattens them. Keep in mind that this remedy shouldn’t be used more than once a week as it can make your skin over dry. Also do a patch test before applying as some people might get skin irritation by using it.

Makes your CDs Scratch less
Oops! There’s a scratch on your important CD. No problem! Put some toothpaste on it and wipe it off with a piece of clean cloth.

Tooth paste as Jewelry and Cutlery Cleaner
Now you don’t need to take your gold and diamond jewelry to the jewelry store to get them polished when you have toothpaste at your home. Take some toothpaste and brush your piece of jewelry with an old tooth brush, rinse with water. It will make them sparkling clean. You can clean up your silver cutlery in the similar way.

Can serve as your shoe polish
Toothpaste can serve as your shoe polish. It can help remove scuffs from your leather shoes. Apply some of it on the area that has been scuffed and rub it with a soft piece of cloth, then wipe off with a clean damp cloth. Your shoes will turn good as new. It can also clean the rubber area of your fleets or sneakers.

Works as crayon remover from walls
Your little one has been showing his art skills by drawing on the walls? Now you don’t need to cover that with paint. Just apply a little toothpaste on the area where crayons have been used and rub it with a damp rag.

Deodorize Baby Bottles
Baby bottles develop sour milk smell after being used constantly. To deodorize your baby’s bottle use a little toothpaste and scrub it really well with the bottle brush. Make sure you rinse it thoroughly afterwards.

Effective for Burns and Insect Bites
People working in kitchen usually get their fingers or hands burnt. Unfortunately, if it happens next time, put some toothpaste on the affected area. The key component, Eucalyptus found in toothpastes will soothe the burns. (Personal experience)
Insect bites are causing you itchiness? Apply some toothpaste over it. Toothpaste works well for flea, ants and mosquito bites.

Nail Cleaner
Next time you can do your manicure at home. At least you won’t need a professional help to fix your nails. The teeth and nails are made up of similar material. So just the way you clean your teeth you can clean your nails as well. Just switch your tooth brush with a nail brush and clean up those nails thoroughly.

Works as a Defogger
Professional swimmers use toothpaste to defog their swimming goggles. Just apply some toothpaste and rub with a clean damp cloth, they will turn clear.

Sticks Posters
Can’t find glue to paste those posters on the wall? No worries. Stick them up with toothpaste; it won’t even damage your walls.

Removes water marks
Need to get rid of those water mark rings that have spoiled your furniture? Use toothpaste. Rub the mark with soft cloth and it’ll be gone in a few seconds.

PoliticsRe: Oyo Hasnt Borrowed Money In 2 Years – Ajimobi by kobenol(m): 9:35pm On Jun 09, 2013
Gbawe: Impressive fiscal management and plans. No surprise though given the pedigree of Ajimobi. Personally, I think the current crop of ACN Governors have the potentials to achive more than Fashola has. This will not be because they are better administrators but due to the fact that they have far less challenges to deal with than the Lagos governors.

Laudably, the ACN has recognised that proactively securing the funds for State development without depending on federal allocation alone will move things along much quicker.
@Gbawe
Your comments as percieved even on similar threads as this suggests you sympathise with SW ACN..I kinda do as well, at least better than Akala etc we had...but mindful politicians talk..I will like Ajimobi to do more, especially development is concentrated in IB rather exclusively. I dont mean other towns must be "citified" but Agricultural programs etc be carried out in the uplands..I dont see this.
Beautification of Iwo-road/Ojoo express is being carried out haphazardly...after one year leaves much to be desired. Osun started its Ife/Ikire express beautification much later than Oyo and the result is simply superb.
NB:My comparison always features the SW ACN states some are better off than others...please dont be carried away.
More can be done anyway!

PoliticsRe: Opon Imo Launched By Osun Today by kobenol(m): 1:08am On Jun 04, 2013
Afam4eva: Like i said in another thread a few months back, this initiative is very expensive especially for a state like Osun that is not oil driven. It's sustenance is what worries me. There are better ways to give students access to whatever learning curve that's not so expensive. Let's take it one step at a time.

But one thing i like most about Aregbesola is his nack for making his governance an Africanist one. These are the kind of people we need as leaders in Africa as their leadership has that African feel to it.
Very well on point. But I don't quite believe it would be greatly expensive as presumed though.
Ekiti provides its Senior Secondary pupils with 10" Samsung solar netbooks...NO COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHERS in a bulk of the schools...I quite know this as a Serving Corps Member in one of its LG.
What a wasteful unsustainable development?? And Yes! those kids annoyingly care so less about the netbooks, even damage it, it's so not of benefit to them. The state itself doesnt have a program in place for it. Though the kids pay school fees..NO FREE EDUCATION in Ekiti!
Having "digested" the info on http://www.opon-imo.com Osun is visionary indeed!

HP mainly does budget pcs though they have higher ends..ranging from Pavilions to Envys.

PoliticsRe: Police Beat Up Oyo Commissioner by kobenol(m): 2:26pm On Jun 01, 2013
There are clearly two sides to this very story...as always. I'd have preferred an eye-witness account.
However, this narrative clearly shows that each side took laws into their own hands. Both the commissioner and the police.
But in her reaction to the incident, Okuwobi stated that the commissioner deserved the treatment he got, contending that the commissioner went beyond his limit by assaulting a senior police officer.
“We should be the one running to the press over the assault on one of our officers by the commissioner. The commissioner was never assaulted by the police officer who was carrying out his lawful duty.
“The police Inspector threatened to deflate the tyres of the vehicle, if we did not leave. True to his threat, he went ahead to deflate the tyres. And at this point, my police orderly went to caution him against his action only for him (Inspector) to deal a serious blow on the innocent young man. It was at this point that I alighted from the car to rescue my orderly.
I hardly believe the version of events from either side...They kölömbïï'd the story...mumu times mumu...all na d same d same...**in Lagbaja's tones**
It remains unclear who threw the first blow though....the "wickeder".

I love this speech...very articulate...The writer is good!
Doesn't necessarily mean I like the speaker anyway
*I want to see the "Curcular Road" soon.
*I want Idi Ape-Basorun-Akobo Ojurin dualised...fast..afterall removal of obstructions on its Right of Way has been carried out.
*Also please reaward OR cancel the beautification of Iwo Road-Ojoo Express...for after well over a year leaves so much to be desired. I quite believe this project is not under supervision at all!...Osun afterall commenced its Ife-Ikire beautification much later and its result today is honestly commendable as I am frequent on this Highway.
....Dear Mr. Governor...My humble submission.

PoliticsRe: New Nigerian Flag by kobenol(m): 11:38pm On Feb 09, 2013
Alright...UNDERSTAND THIS ALTOGETHER ONCE!
Federal Republic of Nigeria has a flag:
green-white-green, and the coat of arms.
Inscribing such coat of arms in the national flag is totally unaccepted, as it is meaningless.
The Information Ministry cleared air on this issue sometime last year, or year before the last.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Motorized Patrol On Lagos-ibadan Express. No Overtaking by kobenol(m): 5:38pm On Feb 08, 2013
The most ideal is a concrete traffic signs campaign, I noticed this kind of move in Lagos Roads recently...Hail Lagos Govt.
However it all boils down to people attitude. WE NIGERIANS especially are extremely lawless.
On every of our express roads, 100kph is the MAX, yet drivers do 160?? yet even worse in the case of commercials.
When we start obeying simple laws, authorities wont have to break the bank or think outside the box, just so to find means of enforcing laws to ease even us from danger.
Hail Road Safety!

I also prefer 2003
I simply love the 2003 version. I REMEMBER one day I had to complete a term paper on a friends pc loaded with 2007...first time with 2007 office...I got a head ache afterwards
MS designed the 2007 office with so much simplicity, it ended up complicated, especially for older users who've been familiar with previous releases.
