GIFTEDPLANNERS: It's so wrong to keep talking about a pardon that is not illegal by law. Every year people get pardon world wide for various crime. The Nigeria state can tomorrow pardon petty criminals someone has to make that move to make it a reality. They real issue is on the part of him not being in jail but in a private house. This is a very big crime that should be expanded to know if it's true and how long has it being going on. A fast-tracked and paid-for pardon is illegal as well. |

No but you are attacking someone that is fighting for justice. If bobrisky godfather can make call to the controller general of prison then how many minutes do you need before the evidence disappear in police custody. In Nigeria that is easily done naw... like how dem they set fire to tax offices and courts every so often. Remember Gandollar case wey dem tell us say because protestors set fire to the courts, na so all the evidence against the man take vanish! |

SocialJustice: Nigerians can't manage anything properly and they despise those who can. I say it again, state police is a tragedy waiting to happen. They are not even police yet but see what vigilantes are doing in states. Be that as it may, the State Police makes sense since the Federal Police we have can withdraw itself whenever it pleases. So, states should have some backup security agencies to which they can turn. Imagine finding yourself in a state only to hear that the IG of the police has withdrawn all of its police officers from the state. Wouldn't you at least be happy if the state police were available to handle emergencies while they are gone? |

The issue is VDM's suggestive remarks about the video.... for someone you have had previous good relationship with, in good journalism, you ought to have put a call to the person to clarify the allegations. Then, whatever the person's response is, you will put it out there along with the video, so people can now be the judge That issue is a non-issue that he could easily sue VDM in courts for. So, what is with all of the noise-making if not an attempt to distract Nigerians from the main issue here? This man is a lawyer and knows better than to go raising dust when it is unnecessary. Something tells me he intends to cover something else with all this noise he is making. |

And it would be nice if Burna is made to pay for using the police in the manner that he did. There is no reason why any citizen should instigate the kidnap of another citizen.... As for any issues Burna has with Speed, he can take it up with him in civil court. |

Some of you Gen Z really have nothing much upstairs! 😂😂😂 Falana is so popular as a lawyer that his name is an adage in Yoruba language. Ask any elderly Yoruba person the origin of "Falana ran ti e, tara eni laa ka ran". While I like what VDM does, he clearly overstepped his boundaries and this case has proven he has a proud heart. He needs to come and tender and unreserved apology, but instead he's using word play to justify his ignorance. All this is because this na Nigeria where lawlessness abounds. If say na a place like America or the UK this thing happens for, you for dey demand this of VDM at this point? Nigerians and their Nigeria-mindedness —steeped in lawlessness— is in part what keeps Nigeria the way it is. In other climes, Falana would have been told by all to go sue already or shove it. This doesn't remove the fact that the kidnapping of the boy by Burna Boy is illegal, mind you! If this had been in the U.S.A., Burna Boy would not have dared to call the cops to carry out such illegal nonsense. OLAADEGBU: ■ Renowned lawyer, Mr Femi Falana (SAN) through Falana & Falana Chambers, secured bail for social media influencer and blogger Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, following his arrest on June 30, 2024, SaharaReporters has learnt. The chambers provided pro bono legal services in the case against the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, which demonstrated their commitment to defending the rights of individuals facing legal challenges. VeryDarkMan was arrested for alleged criminal defamation stemming from a social media post. According to court documents regarding the case (Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/149/2024), the 29-year-old is accused of cyberstalking Samuel Oguachuba, best known as Samklef, by posting threatening comments on his Instagram handle, which were widely viewed and circulated online. The post reportedly included intimidating remarks that could instill fear of violence or bodily harm on Oguachuba. We pretty much got this gist from the very first video where VDM released the first audio recording. We learned from there that there existed a previous relationship between VDM and the Falana group. Why VDM should not have released the video because the name Falana was mentioned on it is what we still don't understand. |

During the commissioning ceremony, the people expressed their joy and appreciation for Senator Usman's dedication to their educational needs and many others. Many in the crowd voiced their support for his continued service, with some calling for him to return to the Senate for a second term, while others enthusiastically suggested that he should consider running for the position of governor. Not even a single picture of this supposed world-class school to be found anywhere? According to reports on X, the school was renovated by members of the Alumni association, so I hope your Senator is not here attempting to take credit for the renovation.

You mention section 24(2) and I asked you — even posted the section in clear text — to show me exactly what portion of that you think will be used against Darlington that would require his arrest WITHOUT a misdemeanor warrant for arrest issued by the courts. If this had all happened somewhere abroad where Burna boy has been — the U.S. or the U.K. — do you think he would have resorted to same the means? |

adetols: Existence of Parallel Government in Ibadan, Oyo State S. 41(1) of the 1999 Constitution provides that: "Every citizen of Nigeria is entitled to move freely throughout Nigeria and to reside in any part thereof, and no citizen of Nigeria shall be expelled from Nigeria or refused entry thereby or exit therefrom."
The privatization of public roads is now a menace within Ibadan metropolis, where resident associations of connecting streets erect gates in the middle of publicly owned roads. I believe these roads should serve as alternative routes for residents and the general public, whose taxes are channeled into constructing these roads in the first place. Most of these streets hide under the guise of insecurity to create untold hardship for citizens whose livelihoods depend on these connecting roads. Even emergency situations are not spared. A case study is the Akobo area of Ibadan. A resident of Idi Orogbo, Yawiri, whose daughter was stung by a scorpion in the middle of the night, couldn’t navigate her way to the hospital as all gates leading out of the estate had been closed, and no gatekeeper or vigilante was in sight. “She had to be put on my husband’s back while we navigated through a bush path,” said Mrs. Ogedengbe. “We thank God we made it to the main road before it was too late. Those security people were probably drunk and sleeping somewhere. I thank God Nigeria didn’t happen to us that night,” she further narrated, sharing her ordeal. This is becoming a daring situation since it remains unchecked by the state Ministry of Transportation and other government agencies responsible for such matters. As a result, streets now enact laws that govern them, essentially suspending Nigeria’s constitution, which I see as a parallel government situation. Have the people impacted contacted their LG Councilman. I believe this is an issue the law can be able to tackle at the local level. |

The real and sustainable gains in power supply has been aided by the transformational work the Minister of power has done to increase distribution capacity and efficiency with a combined and holistic mix of making more money available to DISCOs (distribution companies) through tariff increases, across bands, and tighter disciplinary regulations to make contractual minimum targets enforceable against DISCOs who operated very sloppily under GEJ and Buhari.
