Ten Pages and Ukraine still never surrender.

They are breaking some people's hearts here in Nigeria. Some Russian fans have been hoping for an Ukraine loss and they're breaking their hearts nonstop.

Politics / Re: Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Send Message To Oyo Communities, Threaten Attack by kodewrita(m): 5:13pm On Nov 01, 2021
This just highlights the plight of Nigerians living in rural settings. Fellow Yoruba in big cities will only scream on social media (like me) and move on with their lives. This is not limited to the Yoruba.

In general, as a country, we are unable to empathize with people more than 50km away from us. Out of sight will always be out of mind.

Hopefully the community's in a position to protect itself otherwise this calls for interested Yoruba to go harden the communities against attack.

What do you tell a skinny guy who wants to body-build but is quite choosy with foods and doesn't like to exercise? (thats not exactly true, his own form of exercise is a stroll to the cafe or a walk from his room to the TV and back.) grin

You tell him to wait for middle age. His body will gain weight all by itself and his battle will be how to lose it. grin grin grin

Your leather chairs/sofas look old, bulky and uncomfortable. It won't cost much to change it and that might just uplift your returns.

I wish you all the best.

Clefayomide:
Good day everyone, please I need your advice on this

I'm a student of history and international studies, will be done by next year. Although have always wanted to be in the science field but I wasn't given the opportunity.
So I intend to go for a science related course preferably computer science when I'm done with the Bsc history and international studies next year, cos I have a passion for I.T.
So now my questions are:
1. Is it a good decision?
2. Will I be able to cope being someone with an art background?

Please advise from everyone is welcome, especially those in computer science/ programming field

Pls moderator kindly help me move this to front page. Thanks

Hi Ayomide.

The short answer is: Yes you can.

The longer answer is: You can enter the IT field in a number of ways. Coding is one way but the IT field is really wide and has needs for a lot of other professionals. With your background in the social sciences, you would be a great fit for any number of skillsets including (and not limited to ) project management, product management, risk and controls, IT business analysis, system integration, IT presales, service administration, service design or even UI/UX analysis.

I'd suggest you just visit udacity or edx and take entry level/basic awareness courses in each of those areas. Or you can visit youtube and do basic searches like "What is UI/UX?" and watch the intro videos just to get a feel for the specific areas.

Once you find an interesting area, then you can dive deep.

I'm just saying, don't limit yourself to coding only (Do it if that's what you really want and yes, it is possible to do it).

Programming / Re: What PHP Cms/framework Do You Use And Why? by kodewrita(m): 7:46pm On Oct 21, 2016
Codeigniter.

Why? Simplicity (because I am mainly a hobby coder). I don't usually want to have too many functionalities inbuilt for me.

That way I only add in libraries I need instead of carrying baggage someone put in place because "you may need this".

Programming / Re: Which Country Has The Best Programmers? by kodewrita(m): 3:19am On Aug 28, 2016
You may be drawing the wrong conclusions from it.

China's scoring better for a reason (mathematics) while Nigeria's spectacularly weak on Functional programming, AI and Mathematics (All areas where China's strong).

We also do not show up anywhere in the rankings except on Tutorials.

Other thing to mention is that HackerRank might not necessarily be well-known around here ( there are thousands of IT-related websites we all browse daily.).

Basically, don't judge too early. I daresay if this site gets more popular in Nigeria our scores might be even higher.

Pay someone to come in and help out once in a while. You do not have to do it ALL.

A non-live-in housekeeper who comes once a week to wash all laundry and sweep the place would not be a bad idea. if she can run market errands, even better.
Add a dishwasher for the plates and you are good to go.
