Pay someone to come in and help out once in a while. You do not have to do it ALL. A non-live-in housekeeper who comes once a week to wash all laundry and sweep the place would not be a bad idea. if she can run market errands, even better. Add a dishwasher for the plates and you are good to go. |
Believe me i know all about that. I treat my girl like a partof my family, neighbours actually think she is my sister. What i dont get is some folks making it look like those that have helps at home are committing a crime. If you know you cant treat them fine then dont get any, but dont make it look as if u are super special or something
Legally speaking its a crime, making kids (anyone below 18) work for a wage ( which is most likely less than minimum wage) is a crime. No sentiments involved ( I am not for or against it on this thread. Just want to point out a legal fact). |

So Ilesa boyz una don start this business. Na to remain for our location be that o. Dont stop there oh. Make sure every leading light who might save your town from being irrelevant is kidnapped ehn!!!! Turn your recovering town into a den of thieves, yahoo boys, kidnappers and ritualists & then when you are 40-45 and mostly destitute turn around and complain that people are not starting industries in Ilesha. Why should any body in their right minds come back and start a business in your crime-infested town? We thought most of the criminals were taken care of during the last OPC invasion. I guess ten years is a long time and a new generation of criminals is on the scene. Guess another OPC invasion is on the cards, you f.ools. I can't fathom why people would just set about to make the lives of their neighbours a misery. I pray Prof Olomo and Mrs Olayinka are found. I pray for their families and relatives that God keep them in this trying times. |
Nigerians and their interesting ability to input/imagine more facts than specified. Smh. Thanks for the many interesting responses. Liked linearity's posts and Sagamite's DCF idea (Total Econs nerd and stop fighting ChineloSA on my thread. Enter her PM stat!!!). The keyword in the question above is: Financial Intelligence. Clearly most of you believe loans are evil under All circumstances. And please leave the whole BS about maturity and car ownership aside ( absolutely no link but guessing thats a sop to your own egos), I drive a pretty good car already. Its just sensible to ensure you are well advised before taking major decisions in life (Prov 11:14) hence this largely academic question. I created the question just to gauge reactions and to see if people would suggest links and resources I could check to further confirm my personal bias. (One so far). Still open to tips and your ideas. Regards |
Subject above refers. Which is more financially intelligent of the two? which would you rather do and under what circumstances? |
busted. Check the earlier post on the same day. Does that look like what a jilted husband would post?

^^ Like your signature and the apparent attempt to diffuse the tension with some humour. I would suggest you guys come together and get a good lawyer to help seek redress if you feel you have grounds. I suspect there might be but dont waste time and dont get dragged into fighting this battle on social media/newspapers. |
The Nairaland purse is going to get really busy in 2015. Really busy ![]() |
Yes, 3 reasons: 1. Cultural burden: We force girls to be responsible, know how to cook and stuff. As such they end up having more basic life skills than boys. 2. The Sex game: Men/Boys start chasing them once their chest starts developing any hint of curvature. As such they get a handle on this sex thing earlier than boys and as observers (instead of hunters like men) they tend to be able to draw useful conclusions about the sex game earlier. 3. Fertility clock: They have limited time to produce children and as such, they feel the passage of time more than men and will take action usually to seize the day compared to men who dont mind playing around for a long while before developing a modicum of responsibility. |
codeaddict: Well, some of us don't watch football, assume that a season is composed of matches between all teams with two teams playing one home match and one away match against each other. A plays C at C's home. C plays A at A's home. |
The Problem: You have a 12 team league (A-L). Teams A-C are the high profile teams. Team A and G are from the same city. same for team C, D and E which all come from another city. Write an algorithm to schedule matches for the entire season given the following. --Two derby matches must not follow each other. ( derby meaning matches between teams from the same city). --high profile teams can only play each other once in each half of the season. --no team can have more than 3 away matches in succession. (Not certain if this is hard or easy but it seemed to be an interesting challenge). All languages permitted. Post your solutions here. Regards. |
But she has done one thing that the thousands of rich ladies dont do. She has been bold enough to come out strongly that she wants a husband unlike the ones flaunting pictures on instagram and forming independent lady. She is a smart and forward looking woman IMHO. If not for the difference in age, frankly I do not see her as a bad bet at all with or without a clit. |
One side is determined to win the argument, irrespective of any laws of physics or mathematics. the others, keep selling their gospel, irrespective of the fact that the opponents speak a completely different (mental) language. This argument would probably have finished long ago if there was common understanding of three words: Economies of scale. Layman's explanation; --When you buy in bulk, you can buy cheaper than when when you buy retail. ( discount effect from buying more). And for the neutrals who dont have a dog in the fight, please read the article links posted above and it will be immediately evident who's making the blind argument solely for the sake of winning. |
Sentiments aside. Government land for Government purposes. simple. Some of those schools sit on massive hectares of prime land right in the heart of town. Unless you prefer that they demolish homes to make way for their planned projects, it is simpler and cheaper to reallocate those students to other schools. The only issues i see here are the extra costs some parents have to bear and the fact that people have an emotional attachment to those institutions. Like it or not, you have to break eggs to make omelettes. (or stay hungry otherwise). |
Sentiments aside. Anybody who has thought long and hard about the abysmal land use patterns in our SW states must have thought of this at some point. This is actually an elegant albeit heartless/dictatorial solution and can only be implemented by a fearless governor( who might have evil ulterior motives but we might never be able to know that until much later). It is cheaper to reallocate government land ( the school sits on land directly owned by the government) for government purposes than to demolish built up neighbourhoods and pay landlords inflated amounts ( especially in a place like Osogbo where almost every landlord is a practising real estate speculator). Yes people are emotionally attached to Fakunle comprehensive and other schools but the simple fact is that sometimes the old must make way for the new. If we must progress, then we must rebuild our cities. And we can do that by demolishing homes and businesses or by simply reallocating government owned land. Has anybody asked whether the newly allocated schools can handle the students being sent there? Is it possible the schools were under-utilised? (I am just playing Devil's advocate, dont cane me on that.) And it is also a fact that , current unprofitability aside, malls like shoprite are the future as far as Nigeria is concerned. Visit Shoprite at Sandfill area in lekki and see bread queues by people from all parts of the social strata. And that will not be the end of it. It is not even an ACN thing (even if they would like to claim ownership of such as a sign of their "progressiveness" . You will see this repeated across Nigeria in more and more places as international shopping brands move in to take advantage of Nigeria's growing middle class. Take this from me: This will be repeated in Abia, Kogi, Jos , Abuja, Owerri , Asaba, Benin, Ado-Ekiti and more. Old structures will give way to malls or other necessary improvements. One other thing, unless you can amass the right multitude/momentum to reverse the decision, then we should focus more on ensuring the reclaimed land is used for a good purpose. |
I am posting this link here for our education and to motivate the Java programmers among you. The article itself is interesting but the comments are more important IMHO. http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2013/09/the-second-coming-of-java/all/ Regards |
Nobody is asking you to copy the complete technology stack for Coursera. Just reproduce the structure and use tools that work for you. Also do some research on MOOCs (this is a final year project and you should include some academic content). ( That simply means do a Google search on it ). |

Hi Kodewrita.......hahaha......the fashions of youth.. Do you still call yourself that name? hehehehehe. Oh well. Amazing how much can happen in 10....20......30.....40 years. And yes I have an awesome number of questions. I can only wonder what products finally came out of Seun's new wonder lab in Ota. Did CCHub fizzle out? Did Akure city become the Tech Hub it was aiming at? What happened to Eko Atlantic? Did Amaechi finish the monorail? Or his successors? Did Jonathan win in 2015? What finally happened to Tompolo, Asari and the rest? Are you even a Nigerian as you read this? That reminds, so when did you marry? who did you marry? African? Nigerian? Yoruba or a sexy sexy Calabar/Ikwerre/Ijaw/Enugu woman? Please tell me you are married. Oh Please be married. Did you learn any other languages? Did you gain any cool new skills? So did you get to that big B? are you a member of the 1%? Got Money or are you (God Forbid) still a salary earner? Are you slim and athletic or have your years of mocking adults finally caught up with you in the form of a massive pot belly? Who's president now? or prime minister? or........dictator? Did you ever do anything worth remembering? or are you a fugitive as you read this? Whats the coolest gadget now? I can only wonder what your AIs look like now. Did Siri get smarter? By how much? Who finally won in Syria? How long did Assad survive? Kim Jong Un? Mugabe? Did Mugabe die in his sleep peacefully or was he dragged through the streets in disgrace? Did that noisemaker ex-ANC youth leader ever lead South Africa or was he finally disgraced? Where do you live now? Where do you work now? What do Nigerians spend now? Naira? Dollars? What? Do you people still use money? Did the rapture happen before you got to this page( I seriously hope not)? How did Nairaland survive until you got to read this? Who's in charge of it now? What ever happened to Facebook? Whats happened to the great Chinese takeover of the world? Did they achieve it? And About that woman you married. Did you find love? Are you happy with your life choices? If you can cast your mind back to this present moment, what would you have wanted me to change? What attributes do I now have that you would still hope to have survived? What do I know now that would later become an asset to you? If you could assess yourself, are you still mostly equal to the person I expect you to be? In retrospect, Would you say that I am right now a few hours away from success or failure? Which is closer? Who turned out to be my greatest friend and who ended up being my enemy? Oh Future Kodewrita, I fear to ask..............................these next set of questions.......................................................................................................... Are my mama and papa still with you? Are we still together? are we still complete? Who has left us? How? What did you achieve before your 40th year or what are you on course to achieve before your 40th year? Too many questions to ask. Just take care though. Be strong for your siblings and family. Take care of them fiercely when your papa leaves. Before your papa&mama leave, make their dreams come true to the best of your ability. Help them find true fulfilment. Invest with Prov13:16 in mind. If you are not married, find that Prov 31 woman. Live your truth. Live well and when your time comes, die well. And lastly, Be Exceptional K.O.D.E.W.R.I.T.A, Make me P.R.O.U.D |

Anvaller: Alright guys, I have seen different opinions here. All I have to say is that the guys that are of the opinion that studying comp sci is significantly inconsequential to pursuing a career in IT are more accurate in their opinion than the others. I.T is not only about coding and coding, there are alot of other path u can take without actually knowing how to code. Although its always easier if u have "some" coding skills. Even at that, u do not need to go to a university to know how to code.Without contesting the evident merit of what you posted, I just want to state that the degrees are only irrelevant if you do not use them for what they were originally designed for. In its true sense, computer science was never aimed at producing super coders who bang out facebook-level apps with one hand while assembling a robot with the other hand. A typical computer scientist( in the real sense) would be busy trying to create the next level of compression algorithms to speed up the internet or creating better languages to better make use of multicore processors or trying to find out how to ensure data consistency in an environment with multiple database clusters and other such whatnot. It requires some mathematical thinking and mostly logical thinking with a dose of domain knowledge. That's why schools in the US try to create majors focused on creating software engineers. That said, I believe we have piled on p.josh and I really do not like the insults being levelled at his uncle or his person(this is assuming p.josh is a dude). Lets contribute without insulting him. For the undergrads who detest the maths aspect of computer science, please know that maths, comp sci and elect are deeply interconnected. You can never achieve true understanding without knowing the first principles on which your field is based. Ask any physics grad and they will tell you of the need to always identify and master the fundamental laws/principles before going on to study phenomena(be they natural or manmade like computers). You want to jump on to Cisco networking, OSPF etc and you refuse to learn the Shortest Path First and other path finding algorithms who derive their existence to the Graph Theory maths that you detest. I could go on and on about the beauty of algorithms including encryption algorithms, packet sharing algorithms, fuzzy logic etc. Its heady stuff and if you already love logic, you can fall in love with them easily. Finally, I want to flip to the other side and say that university knowledge is a refinement of generally held knowledge too. As such, it is possible to actually engage in a period of self study and still achieve the same level of knowledge gained by attending a university. Don't argue that with me, just google AUTODIDACTISM. There are lots and lots of articles on it. P.Josh. If however you have other interests, I would advice doing either a combined major of computer science and another course (e.g Economics which you will find supremely useful or Maths). The other option is to study another course but gain practical IT skills by taking A+(practical IT maintenance skills), Java/Python/.net( programming), MySQL/oracle(DBMS), Net+/CCNA( Networking) to make you a versatile individual. All the best and God's guidance on your choice of career. |
Start by removing your tattoos. |
Tutu means cold. Iwa tutu means calmness or coolness. I guess under rare circumstances would you call it "Itutu". Like the fact that he mentioned the Yoruba anyway. One other thing: You are one fine lady, Fraulein Adeibi . |
No b by to answer comp. Sci student o...MST of all yee science students don't really know sci well.. Some manage to cross ssce level through miracle center, and bribe their way to d uni...so wen I c some one say "I am studying comp. Sci" I look at dem as one of doz dudes, except I c d stuff u r made of....me I never read sciences in school, I was a true art student, but my intrest and ambition in life has made me understand dat m going no where with out some knowledge in physics n a Wii bit of further maths,it was too late to turn back ,so ihad my mum hire a personal home physics teacher for me...Cuz m determined to prove people like u wrong on d thought dat non science students cnt do sciences weather in or out of school..so don't come preaching to me abt DBMS n crap like dat, cuz in my line of duty dey r nt needed... I know web developers and programmers who Neva studied computer sci or even got out of high school, but dey r good at wat dey do..and I know so called computer science students who can't evn state d Newton's laws of motion dat even me wey Neva enter science class once dat recite like poem..ntchewww I WILL CONTINUE TO SAY IT...SOME FEILDS IN COMPUER SCIENCE OR I.T IN GENERAL DONT NEED U TO BE A COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENT...
Even biblically, the wise are the ones who take instruction and add to their knowledge. If someone wilfully decides that more knowledge is uninmportant, then they have commenced a journey down the path of failure. Unless you want to spend your life creating crappy apps for small cash and never creating anything great, then you definitely need to go beyond the base level you are. I personally would not trust a half-baked IT professional with highly critical applications if such a programmer sees 3rd Normal form-designed DBMS as unnecessarily academic or too much work. Universities teach you the whole picture and not just the narrow field of programming. Yes you can learn it on your own with tools like www.coursera.com or http://ocw.mit.edu or www.edx.org among others but its easier if you attend a UNI. Dont let envy/regret prevent you or others from gettting good education. |
Kei144: This is stupidity at highest level. Private university students pay through their noses in order to get education. When they graduate, people look down on their certificates. And the only thing they gain, which is absence of strikes, the privileged public university NANS wants to take that one away from them. |
Gregdcutie: so instead of us all making concerted efforts to salvage NIGERIA we all should be saving our tribe. #Fact no tribe will survive this much anticipated revolution so in the end nothing would have been worth saving. That is a major fallacy. Definitely the major tribes (especially the Yoruba) will survive it if it happens. The only ones I fear for are the smaller tribes and people caught outside their home regions. However, while Nigeria is still in place ( for the forseeable future it is), It makes sense for the state to pander to its indigenes. The constitutional definition notwithstanding, indigeneship is still viewed on tribal basis and as such it will still be the case. If you feel aggrieved, you have two options ( besides trying to whip up outrage on Nairaland), sue the state House and get them to reverse their decision OR elect yourself a new leader to kill this off. Regards. |
So how can we make money from this? |

. You will see this repeated across Nigeria in more and more places as international shopping brands move in to take advantage of Nigeria's growing middle class.
