AndSunGorilla: If not for Abacha, who knows what we could have won in Afcon between 1996 and 2000? We missed out participating in 2 afcon tournaments because we were banned, yet we made it to 2nd round of WC, won silver in 2000 after a year hiatus. The 1996 team list was damn too good cos it was a mix team of US 94 and Atlanta 96.....Nigeria would have won 96 and 98 Afcon with ease. |

Mujtahida: Our highest peak in world football. Italy escaped by the skin of their death. 94 set play with so much gusto and vitality. As them match enter field dem no send you. We played Argentina with Diego and we brushed them hard even though they won, we played Italy with Baggio and boy, them hear am. That's how to play. Westerhof really knew the naija spirit, the spirit that in the face of so much odds does not like to surrender and harnessed it to fashion a team that was like a javelin in the hands of a skilled warrior. Rohr players will be matching into the field, you go dey fear. It's not the players it's the coach

At least we have osimhen on the list which is very important ,awoniyi deserves to be on the list but we all know rohr might not use him
They are satisfied with shehu on the team ,what does that guy brings to the table ? NOTHING Guys don tire for Rohr...so na Sidon look him case go be soon. Ebuehi not included but Shehu in...na experience Andrew o. |

zuchyblink: Who was the top scorer at the last AFCONQ and AFCON? Who is the top scorer in Saudi league?
Among our active international players who is the top scorer?
If the answer is Ighalo, tell me why he doesn't deserve a place in the SE especially when the younger ones are misfiring? ...so Osimehn is misfiring.....so topping Saudi league goal chart is now the koko abi. Zuchy I can agreed with you on Ighalo experience. |

But now it is Osimehn,Onuachu,Ighalo,Awoniyi and Moffi in pecking order. |

zuchyblink: That's very good. The nations cup is in two months time,it is better Rohr goes for already made players. There is no time for experiment. Awoniyi's time will come What is the meaning of already made players? Westerhoff went to algier 90 with unknown players....Zambia team to Tunisia 94 were new set of players with exception of Kalusha Bwalya, hope you remember that entire team lost their lives in a plane crash. A good coach with availability of players in Nigeria team doesn't need Ighalo to perform but since Rohr doesn't have confidence in other strikers, good for him to have Ighalo back, hope he gave him the desire results. |

Curtisaxel10: V. Moses and Ighalo were the twin pillars that individually pulled us through all those qualification groups of death for which we praise Rohr today. Those guys were creating goals from next to nothing most of the time. It was never any tactical brilliance on Rohr's part. This is why the team virtually fell apart immediately they retired. Rohr knows this and this is why he is desperate for them to come back. What he doesn't realize is that they have passed their prime and cannot repeat their 2017/18 heroics now. Christmas will not last forever.
Osimhen is not an Ighalo to create goals from nothing or to convert every single scrap of a chance that comes his way, he is a system striker, one who will score plenty only if fed the right balls, something that the SE can't offer at this point in time in the absence of midfield creators and creative wingers. It's up to Rohr to find a way to maximize Osimhen. Ighalo's Christmas will not last forever. Pls Curti baba tell me how many assists or even goals scored by Ighalo prior to 2018 WC.. I think Mikel had more goals than Ighalo during 2018 WC qualifications,Mikel and Moses made our qualification to 2018 possible and that Cameroon match was a turning point, check out that Mikel assist to Ighalo strike against Cameroon. Check out Mikel against Zambia in Lusaka and against Algeria in Uyo.Oh I remember Mikel,Ideye combo for that goal Iheanacho scored against Zambia. Also Iwobi strike against Zambia....John Ogu wonderful strike against Algeria....Victor Moses was damn awesome during qualifications, three goals to his name if am correct....Ighalo too did well but creating chances?NO |

Netherland home office rejected his application for citizenship and this really didn't go down well with Marco Van Basten and Dutch all time legend Johan Cryuff. |

Vardy got his first England Call at the age of 28 though a late starter who joined Leicester at 25 from Fleetwood. Most of his appearances were from bench and he had 7 goals. Careers goals 390 appearances and 207 goals, what a sublime for a player that had his real professionsl career at 25 years of age. Vardy retired and told Southgate that he can be recalled if there is injury problems cos this would give him the opportunity to start. |

there are lots of ways to get a citizenship of a country and one of them is by HONOUR.

cromz: You people are so dramatic... Ighalo is well experienced in African football and asides oshimen I don’t think we have any other forward better than him when it comes to playing against African teams. He has proven himself to be doing well and is performing well for his club as well. I am confident that subsequently players like Taiwo awoniyi and Term moffi will make it to the nations cup. Let us just focus on qualifying for the World Cup right now. Bro forget African football...Rohr rate Ighalo highly that's just it. Osimehn,Onuachu and Awoniyi started what we all know as street football that is the most difficult brand of football. The uproar generated by Ighalo recalled is not only on this thread,go to twitter etc is all over and it is simple...the bolded question is why inviting retired Ighalo when we have three young strikers performing week in week out. I just hope Ighalo recalled would have a positive impacts on the team cos all we are praying for is success of the team regardless of any player invited by Rohr. |

Subzero047: Awoniyi has both Nigerian parents and was born in Nigeria, I don't think he is eligible for Germany Taiwo Awoniyi will get his chance again which am very sure. The last call up was a surprise to him and playing against CAR was as a result of Onuachu injury but in training he was one of the best performers. Awoniyi playing for Germany, rule it out,Awoniyi is a thorough bred Naija boy that grew up in Agbo Oba area in Ilorin and love naija like kilode. |

Subzero047: Onuachu scored in 3 minutes and won man of the match in his debut, Shehu Abdullahi won man of the match on his debut, Ezenwa made multiple saves against Cameroun (I think) on his debut even Idowu scored on his debut Subzero man, everything depends on a coach. Richard Owubokiri got a call up after long absent from eagles and scored a goal and Westerhoff refused to call him again. Dimeji Lawal forced himself in with the aid of fans who were shouting his name at the national stadium,Westerhoff obliged and Dimeji came in under five minutes he made his presence felt with a goal and five star performance, after that match he never got a call again. Good performance on a debut is 50/50 and coaches where aware of that so they always ease that pressure on a player, good coaches tells debutant to go out there and enjoy yourself. Pls tell me what is Shehu doing with eagles again, just tell me. |

Embell: You're right that Kalu performs well on the NT. I was expecting to see him on the list. BTW, you don't need to drop Simon to invite Kalu. Go back and reread my comment. My point is, at national team level so far, Simon and Onuachu are better than Dennis and Nwakaeme. Even at club level, those players are not better than Simon and Onuachu. Let's settle this Watford vs Nantes and Trabzonspor vs Genk...pls stake.... I don't rate Simon,Nwakaeme who I criticized heavily after Algeria match and I don't rate Onuachu at all....but my man the major issue with Dennis is his attitude, apart from that he is a good player..oh Nwakaeme I think Rohr doesn't rate him cos at 32 the guy I is trying, performing every season. Simon and Onuachu,I know time will tell and Afcon 2022 will definitely separate real men from the boys. |

BOOOMNAIJA: This Ur talk made me remember AFCON 2013 with the star-studded ivory coast team everybody felt would walk over any other team effortlessly...but we all know wat happened wen they came up against Nigeria...the rest remains history.
See let me tell u something... there's this naija spirit an average Nigerian has that makes him surmount the greatest challenges wen the chips are down...
It was an ordinary home based player that made ivory coast look ordinary on the day... someone not even up to ighalo in any ramification football-wise.
With or without ighalo, I believe any team we present to play ivory coast or Senegal will still portray such attitude and come out tops.
Remember we also av the likes of ejuke, chukwueze, osimhen, Iheanacho that can wreck havoc on any defence in the world...so just chill and let's wait till then Oga that winning mentality attitude is gone o...not this team with Rohr. |
