TheSuperNerd: I congratulated Funke. In fact, when some were trying to play down on its achievement at the time, I had to remind them that Avengers:Infinity war will be one of 2018's best and most profitable movies financially at the box office, so being part of a project like that even as a cameo background character is quite an attainment.
But now you speak of Nacho - Kayode.... please who castigated Kayode because of Nacho's performance yesterday? I think I only saw one moniker who did so.... Realpoacher. The guy is one that I know mentioned Kayode and to me, I was like... "not again "
But who else Elder Kog45 because I fear your accusation on guys who stand up for Nacho is totally misplaced.
Iheanacho is the most vilified and most castigated player on this thread and in NL as a whole. The boy is almost always being put down by a host of people who feel he can easily be replaced despite his good run of form and records for the Super Eagles.
And please don't forget where all this nacho-kayode comparison began. It began with Egbon Forgiveness... (Ehmmmm... Egbon Sir Forgiveness... abeg no vex... I just wan make point okay. Hope say u dey okay. I never see you for a while now sef.)
Now, Egbon Forgiveness started it as a way of showing all that Nacho can be replaced and by who? Well , he brought up Solanke and then later Kayode as better options upfront.
Now before this, There was no issues with anyone being tribalistic as regards showing support and love to one of Nigeria's Golden boys , Kelechi Iheanacho (take or leave it, you know he is one of Nigeria's most beloved players thus must also have the highest no. of critics).
But when Egbon Forgiveness brought up this issue and was always persistent with it as regards Nacho being trash upfront and brimimg up Kayode or solanke (way back then) as a better option, that was when people like me had to step in and try to balance things by saying that he should not rubbish Nacho just because he wants to make a case for Kayode or any other. That it is not fair and it is unhealthy.
Others got into the mix of the arguments too and as usual a mentality was formed for most. Someone even called Nacho useless as a no.9 (Sir Goldfish80 to be precise). Sir Goldfish80 also went on to make the bold prediction that Kayode will soon bang his first LA liga goal soon enough based on his attitude and dare. He said that as a way of saying Kayode will even get a league goal in Spain before Nacho. Look... guys, I don't forget things oooo... I watch and I take note.
Now because of all these... it is not surprising to see someone like Realpoacher always on Goldfish80's and Mickael2's cases... but I must use this opportunity to finally call him out. Omo Sir Realpoacher... Abeg. even if you must tackle or oppose their views, don't do it in a manner that defames their character biko. Those guys are valuable members of the thread and have been here long enough before you showed up. So please accord them that respect even if you must oppose okay. Thanks man.
Now back to the matter of tribalism.... elder kog 45.
It is not as if anyone wants Kayode to fail just to prove a point. Nope... because from all I have observed so far, na only Realpoacher call out Kayode and obviously becos Kayode is always being used by Egbon Forgiveness and the other Nacho critics to run down Nacho and make him look like a lost cause.
So this is the true angle. I do not support running down of any player to uplift another. Nooooooo.... but I pray that all desist from using a player to run down another. If you must castigate a player, then do so with care and love and not with pull down mentality.
Iheanacho, it is not his fault that he is well loved in Nigeria and as well have more critics. It is obvious... he is one of our golden boys. See the views this thread got just because Nacho was in action and reviews of his performance were coming left, right and centre... iwobi, moses, and even Ndidi have never garnered such views like Nacho on this thread. Only Mikel rivals Nacho for such views sef but Nacho still edges slightly.
You cannot accuse people who speak up for Nacho for tribalism becos from my observation, guys here who speak up for him and won't go down hard on him in a near destructive manner like The critics do cut across the length and breadth of Nigeria. All major tribes represented here have guys and laides who will speak up for Nacho. So the point of tribalism is absurd.
Like I said, there was never a debate on players comparison until Egbon Forgiveness brought that in. So when people speak up for Nacho, it is to counter what Forgiveness have said to rubbish Nacho and praise Kayode or Solanke. That is the gospel truth. And it also leads to a psychological reaction to always praise Nacho's good moments in order to drown the earlier opinions of Nacho being trash and way below Kayode and Solanke.
Egbon Forgiveness started the comparison and players rubbishing. He started that and we all cannot deny it if we are truthful but then I feel he was just doing it in the way he understood. He may not change but I have learnt to avoid towing that line with him now coz I am focused on the bigger picture. But what I have outlined is the truth. Showing Love and support for Nacho is not a case of tribalism but rather a case of a psychological defensive reaction against repeated comments washing down Nacho and making Kayode and Solanke gods over him in terms of talent and potentials.
Biko... I know the tides here so I won't lie. Let us be careful and wish all our players well. But don't expect a handshake when you bash one of our best Players in the GWG in order to praise another GWG player who is still seen as a fringe player in the team. Kayode for now is a fringe player and one of our own. He is a very fine player but for the team's sake, he is behind Nacho in the pecking order. Bashing Nacho so that you can make a case for Kayode will only lead to people defending Nacho's relevance and pointing to Nacho's records for us and if you are not observant and careful, you will think it is tribalism.
I repeat, defending or being happy for Nacho is not tribalism. It is only because he has been much vilified and insulted here and overly castigated. Itz a simpu sturvs rily.... Yes I know some castigate him just like the way Mikel always getting the sticks even I know some are waiting for bad performance to attack some of these players, some hate them for no reason and it happens,so i get your point on Nacho and why a lot are celebrating him now for good performance against Fleetwood. |

kennysville: Oga Kog, listen here. This is not about Forgiveness. When he was on a roll, you never said that directly to him. When he came out with his seemingly tribalistic tendencies rubishing Iheanacho while using Kayode , you didnt say nada. Every little discussion and Iheanacho will be the butt end of it all. I am a Yoruba Man. Born and raised in the west. He gave yorubas bad names with his antics. Even went as far as saying Rohr is corrupt. Those who live in glass houses should remember not to throw stones.
That our national team is full of a particular tribe to me is inconsequential. What matters is results. It is insecurity that makes us feel cheated. If you have the value, no o e will dispite it. Let us not mistake patriotism with tribalism. Constructive criticism has both damaging effects as well as uplifting effects. While encouragement will only give rise to upliftment. And if you observe, that has been the way I address this issue. I dont hold any brief for Iheanacho or any super eagles player. Tearing them apart from limb to limb is what I will frown at anyday anytime especially when their quality is not in doubt. (Not talking about Akpeyi here cos he has no biz in the team in the first place)
Our choice of players is made for us according to the coaching crew. This is not Idols or America's Got Talent or Big Brother Nigeria where the audience get to vote who wins or gets eliminated. If it were up to some people, if you no get 6pack or as cute as Iwobi u cant be in the national team. Thank God its not done that way.
Trust me at this state, I would be happy to take anyone who feels contrary on. Enough of tribalism talks and comments aimed at derriding other players so as to promote a supposed beloved player. Thank you No my man is not issue of forgiveness but generally speaking i wish we can put stop to it and it would be better for the thread. Pls you can go back and read my comments or discussion with forgiveness on tribal issue then you will understand better. On the same Kayode i put it straight to forgiveness that not getting national call was not issue of tribal but he just need to measure up,ask Mujtahida,so i have documented discussion and comments on tribal issues here especially on Kayode even citing Ogunlobi factor I'm not always happy seeing tribal colouration comments i hate it and i say it out i don't care who is involved, that has been my point and i w not relent. |

MetalJigsaw: Then you're making a mistake. Musa is a highly experienced player especially at the international scene. The SE style of play suits him and he knows it in And out. his speed and high workrate in our counter atttacking football will be a crucial asset for us in the WC. My man am not making any mistake cos i played the game and have been watching the game since 1980 so I know what am saying,if Musa makes WC with his present status then Rohr is biased. Pls do you think a fit and playing week in week out Musa would sit on the bench for Simeon Moses,NO but due to his inactivity he find himself on the bench for average Simeon who is having it every week in Belgian league, this is to tell you better to have playing time as a player. Do you think Rohr was joking when he said some of his players who are not enjoy playing time should sort their future this January,Kayode moving from Girona do you think is for fun,he already got the feeler that better to move or forget fighting for WC shirt.Mikel staying put in China or Ighalo staying put despite interest from EPL clubs is not for anything but WC,Ebuhei contract with Benfica and loaned back to Ado Haugen was to continue is first team starter. My man not playing regularly always have negative impacts on player development, check Mikel out at 2014 WC,a very abysmal performance just due to lack of playing time. |

Mujtahida: It's a shame really for any man to gloat over the plight of another man. This is why I had to tell Nacho critics especially those who seemed to rejoice over his situation to take it easy on the young man. So let no one rejoice over Kayode's struggle. He is a super eagles player. We pray he finds his place and succeeds. then we should stop accusing forgiveness of being sentimental or tribalism cos am beginning to suspect guys here especially with their comments on Nacho Fleetwood performance and the way they are mocking Kayode citing forgiveness as the reason, some even came out to rubbish Kayode saying his contract was terminated just to taunt. We need to put ends to it so that we can enjoy our good discussion here or we lose it. It's a pity that we are in a country where we are not secure as brother and sister and no thanks to our leaders who have used the power and influence to divide us in religion, ethnicity and tribal lines but seeing elites joining the bigotry tribals bandwagon always makes me sad, only God can save this country, seeing Funke Akindele dropped from hack AVENGERS casts and see how some were happy with the development and later replaced by Genieveve who was later dropped too,pls see happiness again, then why are we complaining Moses lost out in CAF recent awards, check it out north Africa voted Oshoala most in last CAF awards,if north Africa votes is removed Oshoala would have lost out and we w be here criticising CAF. I tire for Nigerians see how Uzoho was mock by the same Nigerians for saying he is 19 years, why for God sake. |

Icon4s: I understand you perfectly. I am not one of those that will point hate fingers at you for your comments about Iheanacho. Cos i have been on the opposing side on the Iheanacho debate in times past so I understand you want the best for him.
The fact that he scored twice yesterday shows that he still has it.
Let's just be happy for him and wish both him and the coach carries it on from there. But I doubt he will experience any significant improvement in terms of playing time.
I still feel he needs to move. Great comment(I still feel he needs to move)cos the issue now is playing time and i don't think Puel would use Fleetwood performance to rate Nacho over Vardy or Okazaki, that's just the plain truth but i would be glad if he can throw Nacho in as a starter in the next EPL match. |

somehow: Maybe regular play in the U23 team is enough to keep him fit for Russia?
Maybe the trainings are enough too just as some said not having regular playtime doesn't stop you from being a good or fit player.
So we can as well use that yardstick for Musa too.
Only God knows the content of their contracts! U23 team?who are the people saying is enough, pls don't be deceived by some guys double standard here, they always saying that to protect their players. Pls would Brazil,Spain,Germany even Iceland takes players playing for U23 team of his club to WC?I don't know why we don't face reality and always trying to bend the rules for some players and used another rules for some players. If i may ask did we show the same love and solidarity we have for Nacho to Musa,No.When Musa was having it tough a lot said he should not be called to national team but when Nacho was going through the same paths our tone changed(if he can get regular playing time with U23 is good enough)thank God the young man showed what he can do against at Fleetwood, hope to see him playing regularly for Leicester not U23 and hope Musa secure a club that guarantee him playing time. |

Am sure despite yesterday's performance iheanacho will still chop bench, probably the coach will have no choice but to use him for cup matched Kudos for this commeny hope he move this January and wish Iheanacho getting more playing time,if it's not guarantee he should move too cos WC is knocking. |

Mickael2: brilliant, I didn't know there was still some rational minds left here.
Iheanacho has a bad game, Puel is the worst manager in the Epl, his system sucks, Leicester City sucks blablabla. When Iheanacho performs against Leeds and Fleetwood, he is world class, his talent is unrivalled, he can play anywhere across the frontline etc etc. Nobody wants to come to terms with the fact that maybe, just maybe some of his failings are his fault. Nobody has come out to praise the coach or the system since yesterday oh Kai Doki you like wahala but you are one of the old horse here so you should know better. |

Icon4s: I didn't actually watch the last night's match although I watched the first leg.
Yeah, Fleetwood may not be a Powerhouse but we as Nigerians have to be proud of Iheanacho that he still has his scoring boots on. Honestly, we will not gain anything by discrediting him.
I think the pressure of Iheanacho's move got to Puel and he had no choice than to play him yesterday. And Iheanacho did what we have always wanted him to do. That is grab the opportunity with both hands.
But I hope Puel did not just use this game to give the young man some little hope only for him to confine him back to bench once the transfer window is closed.
If that Bristol move is still open, I prefer he still makes that move. What a wonderful comment so far,the next match in EPL would determine may be Puel really have faith in Nacho cos i want to see him consolidating on his Fleetwood performance. I'm happy seeing Nigerians especially on this thread showing great love to Nacho, this is what we want irrespective of the players especially potential Eagles WC players. |

I liked what i have seen from Kayode at Girona, the guy never stops running and he is a very wise player. I hope he kicks on. The reason behind Iheanacho vs Kayode rivalry here is what we do accuse forgiveness of whereas some were guilty of the same accusations(TRIBALISM) better for us to always show love to our players, happy for Iheanacho, good for him cos the challenges was overwhelming but coming out to shake it off with good performance is awesome, hope he replicate the performance in EPL. |

goldfish80: I was expecting this reaction from people here. Always waiting on the sidelines to knife home based players. I can only see a hand full of unbiased analysis from a few egg heads here.
Truth is that the team generally didn't have a poor game. They out played the Rwandans hands down. 24 shots average with 3 shots hitting the wood work is a lot. As a matter of fact, it will be be difficult to find a team who will shoot 23 times on goal cumulatively all tournament. I will be worried if the team struggled to create chances but that wasn't the case.
By the way, did anyone notice the long throws by the left back? Every throwing appeared to be a free kick. You could get the vibe the Rwandans were nervous whenever there was a throw in awarded against them. Hopefully the long throw tactics pays off sometime as the tournament went on.
I am quite optimistic about our chances in this tournament. If the team can get it right in front of goal, an unlucky team could be in for a real spanking. Surprisedly the same set of people criticising these boys are the same people given excuses for our poor performance against South Africa,so why double standard. Pls let love our teams irrespective of players involved. |

Humility017: for Murphy I can't really say... but for the other two...I think it wasn't something really hampering on team selections...because iwobi case was also Similiar...
Ojokolo i think took that decision for his son reason because he is on the payroll of the Germans and asking his son to ignore or drop Germany for the super eagles may cost him his job...he has to thread on safe path...deep down he knows his son stand a better chance wit the super eagles... ..
ilorfa was just greedy...he wanted his son to play for the 3 lions probably it gonna increase his financial value...you know English players are expensive..ignorance veil his eyes to know that there exist limited opportunities for players wit Nigeria heritage to play for England... just when it down on him and his household that his son have no future wit the 3 lions he began to cry for super eagles chance...when it is obvious to all and sundry that his son is not better than the players the super eagles currently parade...
Murphy i don't see him in the category of the two above....his son would have play for us if the nff was fast enough... It seems you didn't get my point,my assertion on players invitations was based on likely experience their Fathers must have had during their playing career. For instance Murphy Akanji was so solid that there was a period he deserved to be in eagles team but was denied the opportunity, out of frustration he moved to Malta, likely this experience must have influenced his son decision not that Nigeria came late cos we never approach him. Torunarigha issue is different entirely cos i don't believe his Father working for a youth team in Germany might be an issue but the man just don't want the boy to play for us. Truly Iorfa wanted to play smart but things didn't work out as expected, now at our mercy. My question is why are ex internationals who know much about our football are preventing their boys from playing for us,may be they know what we don't know, possibly the dirty deals which they don't want their children to pass through or what do you think cos is baffling seeing Akanji boy in Swiss team. |

these present crop of players will bury those chances this guys missed yesterday... please we should be truthful...right from the preparatory stage they have been awful...
no attacking bite...I blame yusuf...because this buys seems to be better organised than the keshi boys even the oliseh players...the problem of salisu's men since ages have been their inability to score goals even an empty net...
trying to exonerate them on the filmsy excuse that the Rwandans were tough...holds no water...their inability to bury one out of those chances in the first half...inspired the Rwandans to come out of their shells to attack the super eagles...
I expect them to play better...in the next match... My man am not exonerating them but guys are just too hard on them as if the team is new to us,check their performance at WAFU not really inspiring History cannot be erased that the main eagles though not this present eagles are not that fantastic against the Rwanda team cos the record are there and i can only talk on that not assuming. |

this team does not look like one that can bite...no attacking flare...and this has always been the team's problem since ages wit yusuf as the coach....
so please spare us that drama.... even the Rwandans look better organised and composed than the Nigeria side... Pls check head to head stats of Nigeria and Rwanda, the main Super eagles too are not really fantastic against the same Rwanda talk less of home based team. |

Humility017: with some home advantage penalties let's say like 8 plus few goals any player can become the npfl highest goal scorer
let's take for instance...the last kano pillars draw wit kastina United....suppose one player takes those 2 penalties and he scores...that's 2 goals...wit over 15 home games left to play... If he can score same in like 10 home games...because it is always certain they will likely get some home advantage penalties...he will be in contention for the npfl highest goal scorer award. that's how the magic work bro Pls did you watched Kano pillars vs Katsina Utd match?cos i see guys here complaining about the two penalties awarded without no cogent reason than normal Nigeria referees are bad, surprisedly a lot did not watched the match but keep on hammering the referee with their comments. On Okpotu NPFL highest goal scorer, well i don't rate him after watching WAFU but why are you assuming most of his goals were through penalties, hope you remember how many goals Ronaldo scored through penalties for Real Madrid, scoring penalties should not be a judgement but his overall displayed as a player. Thank God Stephen Odey is relatively doing well with FC Zurich and was part of the league last season or his goals too were through penalties, though the standard of NPFL is low but the way we water down anything about the league is uncalled for. |

Icon4s: As a business man or an investor you definitely would have fallen into the hands of fraudsters in one way or the other. Although the extent of loses vary. If you have never lost money in one way or the other in the form of investments then you have not started investing.
I am not completely putting the blame on Oruma for his predicament but for him to have fallen so low due to one investment gone wrong tells a lot . When I say surrounding himself with the right set of people I don't mean the average person on the streets. I am talking about Financial advisers.
Although I am not an investment expert but one basic investment principle every one should know is not to put all your eggs in one basket. Which obviously it seems he did. And that begs the question again, who did he surround himself with? Again I mean who were his financial advisers?
And again I am not saying this to rub salt on Oruma's injuries. This is something we as young people need to learn from.
Oruma worked very hard for many years. Played in different countries. Emersed so much wealth only for one Church consortium to wreck it. Too bad.
I buy your point on education being a key factor. But also know that not every educated person is successful. Yes i understand your point. |
