this does not necessarily hold water in Nigeria. This country, even when you are not down, your certificate can only do so much.

What is the point of a certificate if the holder can't even defend it? That is the state of Nigeria, majority certificate holders can't defend their certificates, they enter with nothing and come out even worse.

I'm here saying a girl in 300 level thinks Britain is in America, of what use will her certificate be if she is so ignorant? Most times, current affairs is what employers set as interview questions.

Most Nigerian youths do not know what is happening in this country. Last year, 400 level Sociology students wrote an exam where the lecturer set current affairs questions for them, he asked about the tussle that the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government were having as at then (the Maina issue) and about 97% of them did no know it. Even worse, they were justifying their lack of knowledge with the excuse that being in school doesn't afford one the luxury of watching the news on TV or listening on radio! Imagine, final year students with smart phones. Is it those ones that will now hold faith with their certificates?

Opportunities cannot open for you if you do not prove yourself worthy of them, many people get offered jobs simply by conversing with a person in the position to give jobs. Not because they have the certificate, the certificate will just give you more leverage over someone without, but in today's Nigeria, having a certificate isn't enough
My sweet sister you are going into another level which I quite agreed, only God w deliver Nigeria from federal character which denied the brilliants ones the opportunities to excel.

Some level of education can prevent poorly designed scams. Players can avoid getting swindled by agents and signing slave contracts if they know what to do to protect themselves.
Absolutely you are right, just try and have interaction with these players even the foreign based ones you pity their low IQ.

A friend of mine stayed with one of the most respected Nigeria footballer in Paris and he told me that i should forget it that truly they have money but education is seriously affecting their way of life.He was the one that God used to shape up this footballer's life and till today they are inseparable ever when it comes to decision making.

You nailed it @the bolded. I was swindled by a trusted partner back in 2011 when I wanted to invest in heavy duty dump trucks.
This guy perfected his strategy because he was an insider and just like Shakespeare said"there is no art to know the construction of a man's heart, in the face". I could never have have guessed such a trusted ally had it in mind to dupe me. I learnt from it and moved on even though the episode set me back but thank goodness I didn't go loco.

Fallimg victim to fraud is not about education
Yes fallen victim is not about education and i believe is not about people ones surrounded himself with cos icon4s was like Oruma moved with bad group but i don't think so.

My major point is Oruma can pick himself up if he is educated even as a coach though not easy earning little,Agali,Akwuegbu are now coach in Nigeria league,so hope is not lost, he should just brace up and face it.God w help him out though not easy to be in money before and looking for the same money again, that's life.

I believe education can take different forms. I do not think everyone can get the BSc/MS type of education. Not everyone can get it.

Players could get coaching badges which would help them transition into coaching life. Others could get qualifications and become agents. Other become pundits and earn money.

There are several ways to go. Players should be thinking of the end of their careers at the beginning. This is where education comes in..

Finidi has been coaching youth teams in Europe, Ojokojo too

Amokachi was coaching in finland

Oliseh is in Holland.
Yes i agreed with you not really compulsory to be university degrees but they should find a way of educating themselves even if it's NIS but i don't see big deal in it in getting degree, being a pundits is not that easy even a coach but if they they can get certificate that would give them wider opportunities would be better not necessary they should continue in sports.

I still remember my university coach in person of ex international Amusa Adisa who was goalkeeper trainer at 2002 WC,he had his first and second degree in PE as an old man.He was able to get those degrees when he was a school coach and the man is doing well now,our players should try and educate themselves cos is not easy after football career.

I quite agreed with you.

What kind of education did someone like Kanu receive and he has several investments round the country.

He probably didnt just surround himself with the right set of people

A lesson to our players still in active service.

I hope his former team mates like Kanu, Okocha, Oliseh, Amuneke and co and other well meaning Nigerians can come to his rescue.

I so much love this guy. He was one of my favorite young footballers then.

God please heal him of this one. And give him a new means of livelihood.
Hope you remember Kanu was duped too,it's not about people you moved with and till today Kanu never get over it,he should thank God for his great personality that's paving way for him now through his foundation.

My man let pray not to fall victim of 419 syndicate or a close pal whom you trust but is looking for a way to swindle you

Austin Okocha too almost lost his hard earned money when SGBN had issues but God smiles on him cos he is a top personality, did you know how many Nigerians who have lost fortunes through bad investments.

My man education is the key though we seems not to appreciate it any longer due to easy money in sports and entertainment industry but i realized that educated ones always manages their little resources and earn respect.

Pls compare Segun Odegbami and Adokiye Aimeseameka to their mates, the two are up there leaving a very good life cos they are educated.Felix Owolabi too who had PHD in PE. is having it good.

Seyi Olofinjana despite little money he made is doing well cos of his education and moving faster than his peers in sports entrepreneurship.

Pls check Mike Emenalo rising profile, this is a graduate of Boston university and had poor career as a footballer save for WC appearance but his education is pushing him up everyday.

Jonathan Akpoborie a US university graduate too had serious issue relating to illegal migrants to the extent his contract was terminated but till today his education is helping him out by having a decent life.

Waheed Akanni also a US university graduate is having it cool despite a short career as a footballer. He is now the rally point for ex internationals just cos of his education and exposure.

My man education is the key cos if a man is down but looking at his certificate, smiles always comes cos it pave ways unannounced.

Sir, I'm not saying that we should scrap the league but only stating the obvious. I was suprised when I saw the quality of football in the Zambia league. technical and tactical wise they are above Nigerian League.
The level of organization and publicity their league has will amaze you.

My own be se I no de expect much from this team. Make dem go and get themselves exposed.

On the chances of getting one or two players making it to the main team, the probability is 1/8. Those capable of breaking in have already moved to Europe. The only slot for an NPFL player is in the Gk department.

All I'm after is how far Salisu Yusuf has come as a coach... I want to see if he has really improved or not.
OK o but are you saying the only ones that can break into the team are now in Europe meaning we cannot see one or two players for the future in this team, honestly home based don suffered.

Chei i don't know you are so passionate about Nigeria team, thumb up.

If some are saying they are not expecting much from CHAN team then why are we always attacking Michael2, Komne,goldfish80 and sometimes forgiveness for their critical analysis on super eagles chances at WC.

If we are not expecting much from CHAN team then we should forget SE at WC cos believing in WC team and not CHAN show double standard, then nobody should attack those who are thinking otherwise on our chances at WC.

As a Nigerian is a must to show solidarity with our teams cos the South Americans and Europeans always show that support to their team.

Elder Kog45... I am tempted to place a bet with you but lemme calm down first. grin

And you are right, the highest a Nigerian player has ever scored in a world cup tournament is two. In fact, by all time scorers na Musa, Amokachi, and even Kalu Uche dey lead sef... lol

Yekini is on one. KANU has no WC goal. Emenike? Nope. no goal. Osaze has scored too.

But this current team? hmmm... our goal threat is not vested on just one individual. We score in a lot of ways and it would be interesting because the way this Super Eagles team function with the fast counter attacks and eye-catching fast passing style, we actually can blow away even top heavy teams like Croatia or England or even Argentina. But time will tell.

I can tell you this. The Super Eagles will score goals... and I mean Goals... but if that will throw up a player with three or more is what I am not yet sure about. So make I calm down first.... lol... Let me set my cards right before I throw it in. wink

Bottomline, Nigeria is taking a super goals-scoring system to the World cup and most teams, even Argentina, will not find it funny against us. This team can blow teams away on their day.
No need to take a bet cos you just help me analyse the point.

During your sabbatical have made this point cos a lot beleve that Ighalo and Iheanach are not good enough but forgetting that most of our goals came from all our frontmen.

Honestly with your assertion my question is why are we still looking for potent striker than Ighalo or Iheanacho cos i don't see any better ones.

I watched Nwakaeme critically but is not the answer and i won't take a bate on Onuachu cos have seen strikers scoring more than 30 goals in Scandinavia leagues but they are flops in better leagues.

I agreed with you wholeheartedly.

The quality of football in the NPFL is way too low compare with what is obtainable from other africa leagues.NPFL and beautiful football are like parallel lines that can never meet.

Since our CHAN team is made up of players coming from NPFL, I'm not expecting any magic.

It takes patience and humility to watch the NPFL-Icon4s, 2018. Walahi e no lie.
Then we should scrap the league cos if everyone is losing faith in NPFL then I fear for Nigeria football, whether we like it or not the league is the root of our national teams.

On CHAN,pls what are you expecting from those boys,is it to win or have a good performance that two or three players can be discovered for the main team not necessarily this WC but for the future.

Hope you remember the same league produced Abdullahi Muzzam(Austria Vien)Stephen Odey(FC Zurich) now i heard of China Akas and Afeez Aremu.

grin grin grin you know I can't just tell you you have HIV without beating about the bush na, it's my profession. See my point anyways, against African teams I would go with Ighalo but that chance he missed against Zambia what is the guarantee that we will get two of those chances against Iceland? So against European opposition I would choose Nacho in a heartbeat but there is also no guarantee that he can score that goal Ighalo scored against Cameroon against Iceland. TheSuperNerd said we have no other choice, although I don't want to start another Martins debate but hey he is there, I also added Ik Uche and you guessed it, Osaze grin in that list. Whatever happened to Stephen Odey? Or maybe we can find a potent winger who can also play as a striker and play a fluid front 3 or front whatever depending on the formation
I don't think any of our strikers would score more than three goals maximum if possible.

so no need to lose sleep over them, pls check our goal records at previous WC,our strikers like Yekini,Aiyegbeni, Emenike,Kanu failed us.

.com Jan 8, 2018 1:00 PM

Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme has turned down a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League outfit Beijing Guoan according to reports.
The 28-year-old Nwakaeme has banged on 12 goals from 24 appearances in all competitions this season for Hapoel Beer-Sheva who has 18 months of his current contract with the Isreali outfit.

Nwakaeme has delayed any possible transfer talk until the summer as he has been likened with move to team up with Nigerian captain John Obi Mike in China

"There’s a concrete offer from China and a team in the Bundesliga but I want to see out the season with Hapoel-Beer Sheva then maybe in the summer discuss potential moves,” Nwakaeme told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"I’m focussed on the team and hopefully, we can land another league title at the end of the season.”

One cap Super Eagles star Nwakaeme joined the Hapoel Beer-Sheva from Hapoel Raanana in 2015 and he hoping to make Genort Rorh World Cup party in Russia.

http://www..com/super-eagles-star-turns-down-a-lucrative-move-to-china[league][quote]Whao at 28 just a cap then why are we ruling out Ogbeche,Tony Ujah and Martins(rethink)cos i don't think Isreali league is better than Dutch even Chinese league and Ujah is back in Bundesliga, watching Nwakaeme against Algeria doesn't trip me a bit.

I was opportuned to watch the FA cup replay between Fleetwood Town and Leicester. I took my time to watch Nacho so as to be able to assess him.

Though his team general performance was below par considering the level of their opponent, Nacho's 10min cameo appearance has nothing good to write home about. He only had one single touch of the ball.

The boy seem either not to be interested in playing for LFC or he is no longer interested in football. I wasn't that happy with the attitude he posted. For a player who is trying to get back to the bench, I was expecting a bit of fighting spirit and aggressiveness to show that you ain't happy been left out of match day squad.
Nacho isolated himself and was just idle waiting for balls that'll never come. He couldn't fight for the few that came to his direction...

I only hope he can shake things up and come back to reckoning but he needs to first realise that nothing comes on a platter of gold not even making a match day squad either in LC or at Bristol. He need to find his WHY!
Absolutely correct i watched the match cos of Nacho and am not happy for the young man but he need to have a strong spirit to survive cos life is full of challenges and only positive attitude can sustained him or else he lose it.

My own small suggestions:

1 He try's a new playing position

2. He hires a psychologist; the constant battering from Arsenal fans may be affecting his game.

3 He enters beast mode in training; seriously, we don't know if he has been working hard enough
But from what i heard the guy love partying even before FA cup match he was at a night club, possibly this can affect his performance.
