TheGoodJoe: Reports indicate that Iheanacho is not on the bench again in Manchester City vs Swansea match.
<<<Runs and bangs my head on the wall.>>> Do not run and bang your head on d wall,it's part of d game d boy should just brace up for d challenges ahead and try to convince Pep in training or what do u think coz no option till end of d season. Nacho needs to sort out his future at d end of d season. He need to move on if Pep doesn't considered him as it now.My major concern now is our national team which Nacho is integral part, definitely it w have an effect but it is left for him to raise up his game anytime in national colour.I know Rohr w not be happy at d moment and Nacho too w not be happy at d development. I don't want to go into training aspect coz no player w be happy sitting on d bench or not even making match day squad and be happy enjoy d training and d drilling in d guise of working with a great coach. Honestly have realized that Pep has a philosophy that thegoodjoe always talks about coz he said Aguero doesn't fit into Pep philosophy which i disagreed but with Aguero dropping to d bench then truly he doesn't fit in. It seems all this while Pep was waiting for Nacho to prove a point in d absence of Aguero, but he failed to impress impatient Guardiola, this prompted Pep to continue using Aguero until arrival of Gabriel Jesus. The arrival of Gabriel Jesus has put Aguero on d bench and Nacho out of d match day squad. |

Barely playing is not the issue. None of those listed above will barely play at City. If playing time is all, all our promising talents should go to Finland or China and play regularly.
Best in camp all day long. Some player needs playing time to compete in d national team while some can still prove their worth despite warming d bench of their club sides, hope Nacho belongs to d latter. Why i am still sticking my neck to Nacho ahead of others was his goal ratio in d Eagles colour and those that can really slug it out with him are not always injury free, player like Success and Anichebe. |

That is exactly what I expect. Judge Iheanacho from his form in camp and Super Eagles game. Not if he has playing time under Guardiola. Yes let us judge him in Super Eagle and see what happen but i believe d guy w not disappoint. |

tbaba1234: Mikel is an old experienced player. Lack of playing time will have less effect on his confidence than a young player. We already saw signs of Kelechi losing a bit of confidence under Pep. The only thing going for Kelechi now is that Nigeria does not really have in form options in attack. But if players like Sadiq Umar, Osimhen, Isaac Success and Anichebe start playing well and scoring goals in the next few months and Kelechi is barely playing, He can easily be dropped. Honestly i understand your point but the question is this can w rely on injury prone Anichebe,Isaac Sucess or Osimhen who is not even ready,Sadiq Umar not yet a product for Eagles, though not having playing time is not good for Nacho at this period and it w really affect his confidence but i hope it shake it up in d national team just like Mikel always doing anytime in national colour. |

Pls forget best performer in camp.Do u want us to start with Kayode Olarewaju coz he performs better in camp against Cameroon,is not done that way.Nacho already established himself in d National team and his goal ratio speak for him, irrespective of lack of playing time at Man city,Rohr w not make d mistake of starting anybody ahead of him even if d guy perform wonder in training. It's a pity Guardiola is messing d guy up. Do u remember Richard Owubokiri, this was a player that conquered d whole Europe as d highest goal scorer but Westerhoff dropped him for Yekini who was playing for Victoria Setubal in d Portuguese second division while Owubokiri was playing for Boavista in first division in d same Portuguese league. This is to tell u irrespective of Iheanacho performance in camp,he w be picked ahead of any striker for now coz Rohr rate him very high or do u think it was easy for him to be picked ahead of Ighalo and Ideye against Algeria.I believe w should judge Nacho in Eagles jersey coz his Eagle goal ratio is awesome |

tbaba1234: Compare apples with apples.. Kelechi has not reached legendary status with Nigeria to be invited irrespective of game time. If things don't improve for him and another striker starts showing good form, he can easily be dropped. Agreed but i still see him leading d attack for now,if i may ask which striker w u pick ahead of Nacho in d National team for now coz i don't see any,d experience ones like Ideye and Ighalo have not live up to expectations and this resulted for them being dropped to d bench against Algeria, though Senegal friendly and Cameroon match w put a question mark if he failed to perform but i don't think so coz if older Mikel always raised his game despite not having playing time at Chelsea then d young Nacho should do d same |

Icon4s: That was the era when you are feared according to the number of big players in your squad. Big teams usually showed-up when expected. The under-dogs most usually get the bashing they deserved. When a relatively small team is to play a team like Argentina, Brazil, Italy or Germany and the likes, you go into the game with a mindset of not to concede too many goals. You'll still be defending when you are 1-0 down . A 1-0 loss to Brazil or Argentina was like a win for some countries then . You see them saluting their fans who would be hailing them after such match. The only major upset of Espana '82 was Algeria beating Germany 2-1 in a group game.
Those days the individual brilliance of the players in each team usually carried the team through.
I think Cameroun beating Argentina in that Italia '90 opener was a major turning point for teams in sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to then only teams from North Africa could manage to rub shoulders with teams from other parts of the world.
As for the English Big league soccer, me I know watch those ones o. I dnt think they were shown live on NTA. We only watched NTA Televised matches. Though I was hearing Nigerian names like George Chidozie, John Fashanu, Chris Amstrong, John Salako and the likes. I recall wishing to have players like John Fashanu and John Salako feature for the Green Eagles then. You know talks like "If say somebody like John Fashanu and Salako play for Nigeria Cameroun for no fit beat us for that match". You know such fantasy. That time if we hear Cameroun our mind go cut.
I recall Euro 84 and 88 were not shown live on NTA but the summarized versions were shown every Saturday night 8:30 to 9pm on all NTA stations. I can't remember much of Euro '84 rather than the continuous mentions of Tigana and Platini but I watched Euro 88 wella - Ruud Gullit, Marco Van bastine, Klinsman, Rudi Voller, Garry Lineker were the stand out performers. My favorite player then was Gullit.
Holland, Germany, USSR, Italy and England were the strongest teams in that Euro '88.

Icon4s: Hmmm Espana '82.
I recall when the qualifiers were on in 1981. I watched a little of the 2nd leg semi final clash against Guinea where Henry Nwosu scored the only goal. I also watched little of the 2nd leg of the Algeria clash where a Nigerian player scored an own-goal.
I also remember little of that Brazil vs Italy game in that WC. But I never really had interest in watching football then.
I can't recall anything about the IICC vs Zamalek game. My parents were Enugu Rangers fans. I don't think they followed that game. I only watched what they wanted to watch .
The first WC that I really watched and still have very good memory of was Mexico '86 (also known as Maradona '86). Black and white pictures though . Still black and white in my memory Yes 86 W/C of Diego Maradona, that was d tourney i started to understand d game and opportune to watch d likes of Diego Maradona,Michel Platini,Jean Tigana,Josimah,Carecca,Luiz Fernandez, Taffarel,Burruchaga,Valdano,Socrates,Zico,Aldair,Matheus,Rumminegge,Peter Shilton,Badou Zaki,Lakdarh Belloumi,Rabar Mahja,Timoumi and many more, this world cup really increased my undue love for d game of football. TheSuperNerd: Giggs Reacts To Iwobi’s Goal – He Is Not Getting The Praises He Deserves
Former Manchester United star and manager Ryan Giggs says Alex Iwobi is not getting the praises his performances deserves.
Iwobi scored the only goal for Arsenal in their 1-2 loss to Watford at the Emirates, with Giggs watching the game as a television pundit.
The former Man United legend while analysing the way Iwobi took his goal, said the 20 year old deserve more commendations than he is getting at the moment.
”He scored an intelligent goal that look easy to the eyes, but when you consider the fact that his jab took three people out of the way then you will appreciate the quality”, Giggs said.
”I don’t think he is getting the praises he deserves, when you look around England, he is the only homegrown 20 year old, who is a regular for a team in the top three”.

Icon4s: What I remember most about that 1984 lose to Cameroun was the popular post-match comments that "Nigeria did all the playing while Cameroun did all the scoring". That was the trash the Nigerian commentators and Nigerian press including our analysts consoled themselves with. The fans also were not left out of that one. Na who "did all the playing" epp? I think I only joined in watching the game after Muda Lawal opened scoring for Nigeria. That shout of 'gooaaalll' all over the neighborhood and the shouts of "Muda Lawallll!!!" here and there. That I think was the only game I managed to watch, and probably even slept off before the game ended cos I only remember when Cameroun equalized how the game take be 3-1 me I no remember
Several years after I understood that going into that game, Nigeria were the overwhelming favorites. I think we underrated the Cameroonians. More so that as we scored first, we thought it was going to be like a stroll in the park.
That was the beginning of the Cameroonian golden generation that won the AFCON again in 1988 and got to the 1990 WC Quarter finals, beating the star studded Argentine team in the opening game of that WC.
As for the Maroc '88 defeat. O that game is still fresh in my memory. I even have a complete 90mins video of it courtesy of youtube. A very drab and cagey game. The semis were more explosive. Recently, I replayed that Henry Nwosu's goal and I was just shouting. Very clean goal. I called a younger pal who was born same year that AFCON was played (so he was seeing it and hearing about that incident for the first time) to analyse it and he shouted 'Day light robbery'.
I also re-played the penalty to him. He questioned why the then NFA and Nigerian government never petitioned CAF and that referee. So na so e be o. That was the first AFCON I watched from A-Z. We did not qualify for the 1986 edition. U are on point, well i was opportuned to watch d 1984 final live and i want to state it that Cameroon were full of experience with players like Milla,Thomas Nkono but Nigeria coached by Onigbinde and captained by very young Keshi,d team was full of young players except Muda Lawal who was 32,though Nigeria had a great semi final against Egypt that led to penalty shootout, this match gave rise to Peter Rufai, though injured and Patrick Okala was in goal against Cameroon in d final. The euphoria of semi final victory really affected d team in d final, but i want to state that we lost to a superior Cameroonian side.Truly 1984 gave birth to d golden generation of Cameroon that later shook d world in 1990 by beating Argentina 1 nil in d opening game. Well maroc 88,prior to d final,Nigeria and Cameroon played goalless draw during group stage and need to meet again in d final, but d final was marred by terrible officiating and a lots need to questioned CAF integrity coz it was obvious Cameroon was designed to lift d trophy coz Nwosu goal was just too good but d referee ruled it offside and also Milla contact with Eboigbe that resulted to d penalty was a cleared diving from Milla. |

TheGoodJoe: “But you know, very well, that only the victory in 1984 was clean. The second, in 1998, we were cheated. Roger tricked the referee (Idrissa Saar of Mauritania) into giving him a fake penalty. And the clean goal of Henry Nwosu was disallowed,” I told him.
I think the author meant 1988.
cc: Icon4s Yes 1984,we were beaten hands down with Muda Lawal scoring d first goal and Cameroon replied with 3 goals,i remember Roger Milla used his experience to torment young Keshi who was captain then at 22 and Patrick Okala who stood in for injured Peter Rufai in d final Oh 1988,mehn daylight robbery,Roger Milla dived to deceive d referee after a slight contact with Sunday Eboigbe and penalty was given which Milla converted, also Henry Nwosu scored a wonderful goal with his head but referee ruled offside. At d end Cameroon 1 Nigeria 0 at Maroc 88. |

I have to repeat myself because it seems you are just in an antagonistic view. Aguero and Nasri came back overweight. From the pics, Aguero looked worse. Nasri got punished and frozen out of the team. To the point Nasri did not play a preseason game. While Aguero kept his place.
With the ruthless way Guardiola handled, Nasri, Yaya Toure and Joe Hart, it is wrong to believe Guardiola would not do the same to Aguero. These guys are big game players and City legends. Aguero got a pass and just like how the season has gone, he keeps getting a pass. Despite not working hard for the team as he used to. Despite not meeting the demands Guardiola wants from his forwards.
The only reason I see is because the officials of City have big interests in Aguero. Antago what,no am not an antagonist,am just here to express my view to d best of my knowledge and to learn from u guys.Shikena |

Nacho suits Pep's philosophy more than Aguero.
As for African players, Guardiola had a good time with Alaba. I do nit think this is just down to bias. Guardiola believes in Gabriel Jesus talent. He believes the boy suits his philosophy. Nacho should keep training, improve vastly and make a right move to a club that will make him their top player. Pep do not wants Aguero?some officials protecting Aguero and keeps him on d team?Pls stop insulting Aguero.Did u know Aguero is like old Drogba of Chelsea to Man City for God sake, pls check Aguero record at Man city and stop assuming what is not On Guardiola's philosophy,if it is on Pep philosophy then Nacho should be in d team coz u said Nacho suit Guardiola's philosophy more than Aguero and Gabriel makes d team coz he fit into Guardiola's philosophy and Nacho who also suit d philosophy is not making d team even with d absence of Aguero against Palace who doesn't suit Pep's philosophy(CONTRADICTING) On Guardiola having a sweet relationship with Alaba,i don't want to sound racist here but i want to tell u that Pep doesn't see Alaba as African,he see him as European. |

I said I want Nacho to work with Guardiola for a year or two. Then look for game time.
I said, Nacho is safe as long as Guardiola does not play Gabriel Jesus as a top striker.
So, what has changed that you used all of a sudden. Pls stop this Nacho working for Guardiola a year or two years then look for playing time,to me it seems u are under rating d abundance of talents in Super Eagles. Did u realized why everybody were so passionate about Nacho development, not coz of man city but for our national team.He is a player w believe is going for greatness and he has showed it in his few matches for Eagles.nobody w wait for Nacho working with Guardiola for two years without enough playing time, guys with great talents are knocking on d door of super eagles and want to show what they can offer. I want u to remember when i said it was absurd for Iwobi having playing time in Arsenal despite d presence of arrays of stars like Ozil,Walcott,Ramsey,Xhaka,Chamberlain,Suarez,Giroud,Cazorla,Welbeck etc, then our golden boy cannot make a match day squad with d likes of Sane,Sterling,AgueroNolito,Gundogan,Navas,Gabriel Jesus who else for God sake, pls compare and contrast Iwobi development with Nacho. It was on this thread i said d next 5 games w determined d future of Nacho with Man city, let be hopeful that things turn around for our boy coz d current super eagles is growing everyday with different pool of players.Did u realized that Etebo pushed Nacho to striking role against Algeria and we are having players like Mikel Agu,Henry Oyekwuru showing glimpses of what they can do every week and Nacho not even making d bench. I don't want us to go into drilling or learning of a thing again coz all players irrespective of coaches were always on d drill and learning,so nothing special, though being under Guardiola might be a plus for Nacho but not a yardstick for him to become a better player. I can tell u a lot of guys on this thread knew what is going to happen to Nacho with d arrival of Gabriel coz before d arrival of Jesus,Nacho was already having it tough with Guardiola system, even those who played d games to d highest level like Michael Owen have come out to say it that we have better Nacho under Pellegrin. |

TheSuperNerd: Actually Sir... I know it sounds illicit and shady but these things actually happen almost everyday in football.... Agents get sidelined all the time. The only thing is if the agent(s) being sidelined can reach a compromise with the club's.... Sometimes elsewhere, these deals happen with a lot of hidden compromise between players' agents and the club's preferred reps with links to bigger clubs....
So it is not new.... I believe Henry and his agent would have been more savvy in the situation but chose to be reactionary. Good explanation. |

BascoVanVeli: The agent can bring up a transfer to the club just like the clyb can bring to the agent. The price of the transfer is worked out between the clubs and not the agent. After the transfer fee is set the agent can then discuss personal terms with the club u are going to. For Example arsenal's Jenkinson was sold to crystal palace but returned back when his agent could not agree on personal terms with palace. I am going to far, just last year a club in China agreed to pay watford over 37 million pound for Ighalo............... Just like the club can't sell him anywhere he can't go anywhere either. He can simply wait out his contract which i have read is 18 months. Good from your comment everything still centred on agent but why Eupen wanted to scheme out Henry's agent out of d whole deal. |

Mickael2: Mikel plays the AMF position for us, we have countless variations that can put him out if the system. Iheanacho can still play there, Aluko, Iwobi can come into the middle and free up the left side for a quicker winger and all that, So I believe we can find adequate replacements Pls go and re watch our last three matches and closely watch Mikel very well,i can tell u Nacho,Iwobi and Aluko lack d flair for now.Mikel make things easy for our guys,he dictate d game with ease and Rohr knew this or what do u think w make a coach to always preferred him for that position despite not making Chelsea match day squad. |

Mickael2: I am not against it right now, my point is when he comes to training and the coach sees that his level has dropped, he should not leave him out of the team without any hesitation Don't let us assume,it's left for Rohr to decide who to wear d eagles shirt. If he drops form, then coach should decide, not only him but all other players, for instance Ighalo was dropped to d bench against Algeria due to poor form and I doubt he w make d next squad. Mikel Obi is a top notch for Eagles that only lose off form or injury w drop him but this is a player that was inactive for 6 months at Chelsea but always show class in d national team. I remember d issue of Keshi during d last stage of Westerhoff, despite Chidi Nwanu form at Anderlecth,it took injury for Keshi to be dropped to d bench, same thing can be said of Joseph Yobo,it took injury and lose off form for Omeruo to step in. The big question is this who w take over from Mikel coz if a player was inactive and still commanding regular shirt shows that players in d camp are not equal to d task like d case of Ikeme who was mile ahead of other keepers in camp.Did u know that half fit Ikeme kept against Tazania despite d presence of other keepers in camp. |

Mickael2: Even when he wasn't playing regularly he was training under a good coach regularly which is one of the points that GoodJoe always points out whenever he starts debating about the importance of game time. but now that he is not going to be training under a good coach or even training with good or even average players what does that mean for us? Safarigirl I need your opinion too because... I understand your point going to china w definitely have an impact either positive or negative,it's left for him to meet up and bridge d gap. On a coach Mikel has seen it all with his eleven years at Chelsea and we should not debate on this, though I don't know his new coach profile but china boost of good coach like AVB,Scolari. On Mikel automatic shirt by Rohr which i don't believe coz for picking shirt he must have merit it,though his eleven years of experience at Chelsea and national team w always count. Sentimentally one would say Rohr was biased for giving Mikel that privilege while player like Ighalo is being denied cos he said going to china w have negative impact on Ighalo chances at d national team but one thing is glaring Mikel and Ighalo belong to different class,so for now Ighalo cannot get that privilege, not only Ighalo but most upcoming players. Mikel position should not be automatic but whether we like it or not, there are players who will always make d team except injury set in and Mikel is one them but for now i still rate Mikel ahead of others in that position based on our last 3 matches under Rohr. |

Certitude: Even when he wasn't playing, he was still better than some cats. When he starts declining, you can decide not to call him anymore. no p Yes eleven years experience with Chelsea and national team still speak for him with good fitness d guy still remain important but how i wish he remain in Europe. |

zicky: How can you say a player that makes costly error almost every match is better than a player that hardly makes one, we just manage Omeruo just cos no better option but now we have on in Ekong. That's my own judgment and i said if not for that error i w pick him ahead of Ekong,my statement still prefer Ekong and Balogun. So there is no need to argue. |

terzurum5: Anichebe Out Of Super Eagles Friendly Against Senegal

Sunderland have suffered another huge injury blow after Victor Anichebe was ruled out for three months with knee ligament damage.
The big striker ruptured his medial ligament in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at The Hawthorns against his old club West Bromwich Albion. He suffered the injury in a block tackle just minutes after he entered the action as a substitute, making his comeback from the hamstring injury that had sidelined him since New Year’s Eve.
He will spend the next six weeks in a knee action for a total of 12 weeks, which would rule him out until mid-April.
Losing Anichebe is a major problem for Sunderland, whose best spell of the season – the run of four wins in seven games in November and December – came when the powerhouse forward was introduced into the starting XI as introduced into the starting XI to add some physical presence and provide a target to aim at in the final third of the pitch.
The injury has also denied the forward a chance to stage a comeback to the senior national team of Nigeria as he was supposed to be in the squad for the friendly against Senegal in March, after productive talks with new coach Gernot Rohr last year.
