Am not saying he's the better player than Onazi and Ndidi. Am just saying he has a particular skill set other players lined up by Rohr do not have. Since Mikel is not available, we don't have any midfielder better than Azubuike in recycling possession.
I beg not to be misunderstood.
Ok

I agree these players mentioned are at the top of their game, however Azubuike is talented enough to mix up with the big boys. He possess a skill set these other guys do not.
Do u think talent or skill is d answered to progress in football.Azubuike getting d skill than Onazi and Ndidi doesn't make a better player than d duo.

This was d mistake Real Madrid make by selling Makelele coz they believe he lacked d talent and skills as a player.

Mikel Agu was invited by siasia to camp. Siasia preferred Azubuike in midfield that's why he wanted to push Agu to pair Ekong in defence.
http://africanfootball.com/news/634872/Porto-ace-Mikel-Agu-bashes-position-Siasia-played-him-for-Olympic-team

I still maintain, Azubuike is better than Onazi and Ndidi in keeping possession. He's like a quarter back who sets his team up to dominate possession. He orchestrates the midfield admirably well.
I don't want to believe you're singling him out to blame for the teams losses in the friendlies. Its well established that Awoniyi, Emmanuel Daniel and other experimental players Siasia pushed out were culpable for the teams poor run in friendlies.
Siasia preferred Azubuike over Mikel Agu or his possession play doesn't make him a better Player than Onazi or Ndidi.

Mikel Agu was not even invited for the Olympics. Besides, Siasia was son invested in his boys that people like Ndifreke made the 18. Even after atrocious friendly performances.

I have no doubt about the talents of Azubuike but I rate Onazi and Ndidi far ahead of him. Azubuike played all the friendlies of the Olympic team where they were getting battered by teams like Denmark. It took the introduction of Etebo, Mikel, Troost-Ekong, Shehu and Umar Sadie to give the team the needed balance. Azubuike lacks positional discipline as well and sometimes leaves the defense exposed. He is a talented player but right now the midfield is crowded.
U nailed it.I realised that a love for player always determined our judgments coz i don't see any reason for rating Azubuike ahead of Ndidi,Etebo and funny enough Onazi.

I watched Olympic and i w say if not for Mikel,Etebo,Ekong that carried d team,d team would have passed as one of d worst Nigeria ever parade in any tournament.

No doubt Azubuike is a talent but not try to give respect to those who made it possible for our bronze is uncalled for.Thank God Mikel made d team coz from Q/F to third place match he was d power behind d team.Etebo made our qualification possible from group stage before d injury.Ekong raised his game as d tourney progressed.

A thousand Azubuikes cannot stop d German in d semi final coz they are better in all departments of d game.

As u said Onazi,Etebo,Ndidi are far ahead of him for now coz they are class who have moved ahead with good performances every week and solid for national team.

I pointed out clearly my point. Ok let me ask, how many times has Ndidi's positional indiscipline led to a goal against his team? The answer is zero. That's because he understands how to work with his DMF partner but Onazi's positional indiscipline is exposed time and time again! This simply points out one fact, Ndidi's 'perceived' positional indiscipline is as a matter of fact the strategy of the coach which is actually a good thing but Onazi's own is bad, hope you get the push?

Meanwhile I mean Onazi might be getting 85% as a DMF but the average of Mikel Agu and Ndidi is actually more than that, it doesn't make Onazi bad, it means they are better
Ok tell us how many goals conceded due to Onazi's positional indiscipline coz i do not understand your point.

80% is good, very good but when you are in a group where 85% is the average it becomes relatively bad. I am not saying that Onazi is entirely useless, I am just saying that Ndidi is better
Honestly I rated Onazi very high even till this moment but watching Ndidi of recent it w be a difficult task for Rohr to decide.

Remember this is not d first time of having two good player vie for same position,Finidi and Tijani,Siasia and Amokacie,Amuneke and Ikpeba,Okocha and Oruma,Olishe and Mutiu.

It is left for Rohr to utilize d two talented midfielder but am not seeing Onazi sitting out unless Ndidi has something better to offer, good Mikel has Opted out of d friendly, let see Rohr tactical approach for Senegal match.

It was only Okocha and Kanu that I know got the farewell they deserved. Others even Keshi were almost pushed and booed out of the team. They were tagged 'old tired legs'. Keshi as a big boss just retired jeje. Finidi and Oliseh were disgraced out. Yakubu, even with all the good times he had with our national was shamed out due to that miss against Korea Rep. U saw how Oliseh treated Enyeama, our all time best goalie. The list continues.
Keshi testimonial match remained d best till today, played at d magnificent National stadium.

Olishe and Finidi had unceremonious exit coz of indiscipline, this happened at Afcon 2002 where they led a revolt against late Ishaya Maku then sport minister. This episode led to d ban of d team and a new team needed to be formed with the likes of Austin Okocha,Kanu Nwankwo,Taribo,Ike,Yobo escaped d ban.

It should be noted that it's not compulsory for all players to have a testimonial match.Yakubu not having was not due to Korean missed coz we have player like Amuneke and Ikpeba who are Africa best but till today no farewell match.

There is a season for everything. We must have faith in the future. It's risky but it might yet prove profitable rather than threading the safe, old weather beaten path of the past or of the present that that has so little in it for the future. Bringing back Martins or Taiwo smacks of laziness - the laziness of doing the hard job of looking for players of their ilk and stripe among the present crop of players. Bringing Martins back might be good for the short term but in the long run it would prove to be a wrong decision because Martins would be playing the role which a young Osimhen, Isaac Success etc (or any player among the present crop) for example should be playing and honing their skills, getting more experienced and even lasting longer in because they are still quite young.
U nailed it all.It seem we are underrating this young team and i want tell anybody who care to listen that this is d first time in d history of super eagle winning two matches in a row home and away in world qualifying. So what a fuss.

I believe our last two matches should be our justification in analysing this boys and no sane coach w disrupt his winning team except there are crisis which w don't pray for, judging from last two matches i w say our right full back has been an issue and is for grab for a player who worth it,against Zambia Echiejele had a poor game but against Algeria he performed extremely well but notwithstanding a solid back up or even a displacer is needed but i don't think Taiwo can do that, our CB need solid back up coz we are having solid Leon with injury issue and Ekong who i believe is not yet there but w raise his game up by having enough playing time, now having less playing time.

The attack and midfield is our unique selling point coz we have them in abundance,so any new players coming in to this area must have something new to provide for d team coz if anybody is telling me Martins have something special to offer than bench Nacho of man city is a joke.

We already have a team but it is now left for Rohr to continue building d team to their potentials which i believe it w be attained.Winning Zambia and Algeria wasn't easy coz i remember most of us here doesn't even believe d team w qualify when d group was announced(Algeria,Cameroon,Zambia,Nigeria)but our last two matches changed everybody perspective towards d team.

CC:MICHAEL2

A player's era isn't determined by his age. Ogbeche played when he was 20 or so, his own era ended before he even turned 25, Zidane's era was supposed to end around 2005, but he came out of retirement to lead his nation to the 2006 world cup final, if not for Keshi's biased team selection, Martins ought to have been a constant regular in the team right now, ahead of Ideye and Ighalo atleast. When did he ever stop performing? USA, Levante, China you name it, all of them he has scored goals and played well too. If we can't find a suitable back-up left back then Taiwo deserves a look-in too, he was immense for Kemi in the norwegian league last season, he was their top scorer at some point! And if his era is gone then what is Mikel still doing in the team? It baffles me that you use 'experience' to justify the inculsion of one player but you neglect it totally when it comes to another player[/quote]Consistencies in d Super Eagle separate Mikel and Obagoal.Mikel has been consistent for past 5 years and still played our last international match with a goal while Obagoal played last 5 years ago.So they are incomparable when it comes to era issue.

I remember Keshi gave Obagoal a chance during one of d qualifying match,if i can remember one or two matches, though d rest history. If i may ask whom w u picked between Obagoal,Ideye,Ighalo in d last 5years.

There are way to this, played to your potential and no coach w ignored u,if Rohr believe Obagoal is d answer,he should be call ASAP.I don't buy d idea that Martins is too old for Eagles but it w take a grace for a player that have left d stage 5 years ago to stage a comeback when we are having young ones craving for d shirt

Mind u i rate martins higher than both Ighalo and Ideye when it comes to talent but when u don't manage d talent,d mediocre w take over your position.

Cream always rises to the top, eventually top players will get noticed and will be recognised with a move to a top club.

Callum Chambers is a product of the manipulation and packaging of average players marketed as exceptional.
However, I don't think that Smalling and Jones are mediocre. Defenders in England are expected to defend first and the play second.

Your proposition is not entirely true. We still find the best CB defenders in the top clubs. Yes, a few lemons do get through but the quality CB's are still predominantly in the top clubs.
U nailed it,we don't need to generalise issues when we are talking of quality CB or defenders in general.

As u have said, quality defenders are still predominantly in d top clubs.I don't think we have defenders who are better than Chris Smalling and Jones Evans though i don't rate d duo but we need to be candid.

Apart from Leon Balogun that is showing d class and with injury free is a defender to d top,pls watch Algeria match and u notice what am saying.

The present Super Eagle defenders need to raise their game so that they can attract top clubs coz we need it in our national team but having our defenders struggling in smaller clubs is out of it.

I remember Eagles produced top class defenders like Taribo West(Inter Milan,Ac Milan)Celestine Babayaro(Chelsea,Anderlecht,Newcastle)Joseph Yobo(Marseille,Everton)Stephen Keshi(Anderlecht)Chidi Nwanu(Anderlecht)Taiye Taiwo(Merseile,Ac Milan)Uche Okechucwu(Fernabache)Chidi Odiah(CSKA Moscow)Godwin Opara(PSG)just to mention a few.

My man i love your analysis,no matter what we still have largest percentage of top quality defenders at d top clubs though we still have average ones who find their way to d top but this is not peculiar to defenders alone.

Yes friendly game but is part of it coz friendly match is to build up a team.

Nigeria is playing Senegal in a friendly and some players w use it to make a statement and enter d main team against Cameroon.

Am not condemning Ekong as a player but as a Super Eagle CB he must raise up his game which w be good for him and d country coz playing regularly is very essential. He had a nice outing in Olympics coz he had a remarkable playing time with his Norwegian club.

Troost Ekong played very well in his first few matches in Belgium but Gent's coach is very unpredictable. Even with strong performances and clean sheets, he still found himself on the bench. Troost-Ekong will still play in the league, the gent coach always changes his starting 11.
I don't think he played well.I remember him scoring an own goal and for him to have been left out, then he need to raise his game.

There is need for us to lay more emphasis on Super Eagles players especially d regulars ones and how they are faring in their respective clubs coz it w give us an insight to their performances but we always talk on Iheanacho progress, forgetting that we still have some super regular players finding it difficult to break into their team but smaller team.

There should not be sentiment in analyzing our players coz it w not bring thorough picture of what is happening to their development.

In respect to Ekong case,d coach was not biased in his judgment and we must face it.Do u know d meaning of excluding a player from European competition,it means d player is not up to d tasks.

Pls go and watch Ekong critically, then u w notice that he still has a long way to go when it comes to CB.Pls watch Algeria match again and u w understand what am saying,he need to raise his game.

Truly he had a good Olympics outing which really boost his profile and pave way for him in d national team but i can tell u if Rohr discovered a player in d mould of Leon then Ekong position w be seriously threatened.

Remember we had series of discussions here especially with thegoodjoe on Iheanacho being frozen out of d team by Pep,initially i thought Gabriel wasn't better but to be candid d guy is better and suit Pep's philosophy.

Also Mikel under Conte,i thought Conte was unfair to Mikel but when i looked at Chelsea and Conte philosophy,i realised no way for Mikel, not only him but player like Fabregas,Oscar,Terry,Ivanovic coz his formation or philosophy is for all round player who move around d pitch and covered a lot of ground, this paved way for players like Pedro,Moses,Luiz,Matic.

There is need for us to be fair to this coaches coz they have their styles and if u cannot fit in,then u have to raise your game or go elsewhere for first team playing.

Troost should raise his game especially on his footwork, interception, reading of d game and his confidence, though his physical presence is a plus, good at aerial and also have d power but generally he needs to braise up coz as a Super Eagle CB and finding it difficult to break into a team like Gent is not ideal but let say a bigger teams like Manchester city or Chelsea is understandable.
