Bannedlargejr: You guys watch Lookman week in and out at a certain position excelling. Tomorrow, when he visits the super eagles, our coach will select him as a LW and Nigerian fans will be asking why SE players aren’t replicating their club performances Lookman has been doing well even as LW in eagles. |

lbrichman2: That's just the reality Chief Boni performing in the bundesliga & UCL gives him a lot of rope And if he wins another trophy this season, e don finish be that. We are stuck with him Boni will come through though..
The difference between boni and other SE strikers not named Osimhen is, Boni is a league champion and plays for a top team That quality will prevail soon I just hope he shake things up....if he go by 13 to 15 caps with no goal you will know that we are not stuck... |

Fans, players and coaches are tense you will be catwalking on the pitch like nothing is at stake. Boniface is a player to give us needed boost even if Osimhen is not available. The talent is there to see but damn too comfortable and relax when it comes to national team.He just need to shake things up.....we have Osimhen, Lookman and Boniface and still be struggling |

jihday: so are you telling me that Boniface could have taken 6-7 years off his age? 😏 Dessers is 30 while Boniface is 24 besides as we’ve seen recently a player loosing form may have nothing to do with his age Oga age matter make we no go there...i hate discussing it cuz I have seen enough,so nobody should bring age to castigate foreign born player with precise data capture and still use age to eulogize a player born in a country where everything goes,am sorry to say this cuz am apostle of "don't let us talk about age" |

jihday: while I’m not against having Dessers in the team but anytime the bar is raised high for him he doesn’t do well i.e his time in Italy and even now Rangers fans don’t exactly think highly of him, I don’t think he’ll do better than the strikers we have in the team. What we have is a chance creation problem not necessarily a scoring problem Sir am a real orthodox football fan and here am talking eagles...big question what has Boniface done in eagles that Dessers has not done, sometimes we need to be objective in our talks.....I should be waiting for Boniface to perform cuz he is doing wonder with Leverkusen and coming to national team doing content than footballing......now do we have such patience for other strikers like Moffi,Awo,Sadiq and Dessers...pls rate this guys in eagles color and see where Boni stand. My stand Boni should perform or give way than relying on Leverkusen to keep on getting invitations and at the end nothing to show. |

GMBOFASIA: I don’t see boniface being dropped anytime soon He is enjoying immunity playing in the bundesliga and delivering for b04 and also doing well in champions league too I feel that the reason why people are being patient with him that goals will come if he were to be playing in Scottish league or any retirement league people would have come for his head so far boniface is playing in top league and he is doing very well he will always be invited and he will be given benefit of doubt to replicate that form in the national team Let us keep on waiting....by the time any striker seized the opportunity then you will understand better that fans no send any bundesliga and UCL performance.....no be Nwabali dey keep Seria A Okoye for bench. |

lbrichman2: Boni has age on his side and plays at a higher level than Dessers.. That's why Dessers is often not remembered Age and where he plays Dessers will have to post super human numbers to get a look in over Boni I hate doing this regarding age especially when it involved Nigeria born and our foreign born,so don't let us go into age factor....Akure born vs Dutch born age matter, hope you get it. I think you are over hyping Boniface telling us Dessers need to post super human numbers to get a look in abi no be the same Super eagles |

But then stretching this to Osimhen is another matter. Thank you...Mujtahida and kog just dey look some monikers here...imagine waiting for Boniface goal and condemning other strikers...wetin dey vex me Boni man no see am as anything..."imagine Osimhen played straight 5 matches with zero goal, this place go scatter. zicky: For me, my ranking of Nigeria best performance 1.Ekong 2 Lookman 3.Onyeka 4 Osimhen. 5.nwabali 6.Aina 7.Bassey Then the rest The whole team gave their all, but looking at Caf listing you can draw your conclusion who has the best performance. Same tournament that see Ekong listed among Best defenders? My Afcon best Super eagles performers.... 1.Ademola Lookman...3 goals and wonderful assist for Osimhen against EG was great. He had a great tournament and came to the parties when we needed him most.He was wonderful against Angola and Cameroon. 2.Troost Ekong...3 goals, scored Ivory Coast twice,a decisive penalty against Ivory Coast and had a wonderful tournament that surprised fans. 3.Ola Aina....played RB and LB in the tournament and had performance that would be remembered as the best by any eagles wingback in Afcon, though very average in the final. 4.Frank Onyenka...he was all over the field, worked his socks off with full energy, reminded fans of Onazi scintillating performance in Afcon 2013.It will take third eye to recognize Onyenka on the field. 5.Bassey Calvin...what a great tournament for the young lad.He did well in 3 man defence alongside Ekong and Ajayi and full of strength moving forward to complement Sanusi. 6.Stanley Nwabali...came in and gave us world class performance that have been eluding us in our goalkeeping department for a long time.He gave masterclass performance during penalty shootouts against SA. 7.Semi Ajayi....with Ekong and Bassey were on defensive all through the tournament based on Peseiro approached to our games. He formed a good understanding at the back with Ekong and Bassey.I rated the trio as the best cuz they did very well defensively. He was denied a goal against Cameroon. 8.Osimhen Victor...a goal in the tournament but worked for the team throughout and had a great performance against Cameroon, especially never die assist to Lookman speak volume of his class. The team generally did well, hope we make it to WC. |

Awoniyi: 426 minutes
Saqiq: 309 minutes
Onuachu: 797 minutes
Boniface: 591 minutes
Dessers: 322 minutes
You can see that even by minutes played, Cyriel Dessers has a better goal scoring record in the Super Eagles than those particular players. Good bro but can you give me their starting stats not coming from the bench minutes.... |

COOL10: Now compare that to the multitude of fans who defended him against those so called criticisms. That's my point. There will always be exceptions but what matters is the majority. Majority always carries the vote. Osimhen is the Super Eagles' favourite child for a reason. I'm not getting your point on criticism...are you saying a must to criticize a player even if he is performing cuz Osimhen has not had any woeful performance in eagles that would warrant heavy criticisms |

COOL10: How many strikers have clicked for the Super Eagles apart from Osimhen and Iheanacho? Bro, I don't where you were when I made the initial comparisons but in case you missed it, here's the updated list:
Sadiq Umar has 1 goal in 12 matches for the Super Eagles.
Paul Onuachu has 3 goals in 25 matches for the Super Eagles.
Awoniyi has 2 goals in 10 matches for the Super Eagles.
Boniface has 1 goal in 11 matches for the Super Eagles.
Cyriel Dessers has 2 goals in 6 matches for the Super Eagles and those 2 goals came from 2 starts. 1 against Mexico and another against Ghana( 2 teams that are not easy to score against).
As you can see, Dessers has a better goal per game ratio for the Super Eagles than most, if not all of the strikers I mentioned above apart from Osimhen and Iheanacho, yet they keep getting multiple invites ahead of him.
Dessers is one of the few Nigerian players who decided to play for us despite the fact that he could have easily played for the country of his birth/naturalization. The other players I can think of are Iwobi, Victor Moses and perhaps Lookman.
As at the time Dessers decided to play for us, the only Belgian striker that had a better goal scoring record than him was Lukaku. Every other Belgian striker was beneath Dessers. Even Lois Openda was nowhere to be found. I made the comparisons on this thread some years back.
If Dessers decides to play for Belgium tomorrow, he's walking into that team WITH EASE, especially now that Openda isn't performing well, but I know he won't because he loves Nigeria so much. Pls can you gives us minutes played stats of our strikers in eagles. |

COOL10: Lol, how many Nigerian fans have the balls to criticize Osimhen when he performs poorly? 😂. Let's be realistic please.😂
If Dessers is involved in the WC Qualifiers and we fail to qualify, Nigerians will ask for his head, as well as the head of the usual scapegoat: Alex Iwobi 🤣. That's when you'll hear that Foreign born players don't have the "Nigerian spirit." Nigerians are funny people.
Let Eguavoen leave Dessers alone abeg. He should go and play the qualifiers with Sadiq Umar and the rest. Magic can happen 🤣 Fans criticized Osimhen against Ghana |

TheSuperNerd: To be fair, Dessers has more Super Eagles goals than Boniface and in lesser caps too. Just saying.
Anyway, all of the striking backups hasn't exactly impressed much in the GWG. Osimhen competency will not let us see much of other strikers, like playing time.Boniface started with Osimhen on the bench twice but failed, other strikers didn't have that opportunities. It is left for AE to give us reliable striker in case Osimhen is not available. |
