He left the Action Congress prior to the 2007 election. It will interest you to know that Musiliu Obanikoro was closer to Tinubu that Jimi Agbaje.

xwyze: I think the Next CBN Governor should be either of the 2; Funke Osibodu or Sola David Borha for the following reasons
1) Economices graduates
2) Experienced Bankers
3) Women (lets have a ladies touch for a change)
4) South West (Quota System)

My view
Don't be deceived by the first name, I don't think Sola David-Borha is Yoruba. And why do you want Bankers?

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Teaching Vacancy by kolexy(m): 10:18pm On Jan 03, 2014
busuyem: I don't think this advert was made to humiliate any graduate for God's sake. I believe the school paid better than many schools in Ekiti as of the moment, even Ado inclusive. In as much as u can still get schools in Lagos paying graduates 30k per month, despite the demanding standard of living, I don't knw why some folks are castigating the advert. For your info, I was being paid #10,500 when I joined the school in 2010 until the pay 4 graduates was later increased to 17k, and it's still subjected to increment. Now, I have just secured govt teaching job. Teaching job is not a function of the pay but of interest. Cost of leaving in Ekiti is very low relative to other states u can imagine. A graduate collecting 10k in Ekiti State is better off the one collecting 40k in Lagos, u can ask anywhere! Pls, let those interested apply and the ones not, leave.
Meanwhile, this is my year of greatness making FP sweatlessly.
Thanks.
Must you give all the details in a public forum?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: How To Get A Good Job In Nigeria (Nairaland Helped Me Get A Job) by kolexy(m): 10:20pm On Jan 02, 2014
chess guru: Seen a lot of threads like this in the past, and been praying for a time when I will have a reason to post something like this.
I intend to use this thread to give God the glory for his faithfulness, and also stand as an evidence that it is indeed possible to have the coolest entry level job in one of the coolest multinational companies without any connection.
I started a 7 stage recruitment exercise with my coy some time in august. The information gotten on this platform was simply indispensable.
Nairaland gave me the opportunity of meeting some wonderful people that really helped in ways time will not permit me to mention. A bbm group for this recruitment was formed, and this brought us even closer smiley

So in my way of giving back to a platform that has helped me tremendously, I intend to give my own advice for folks still in the "favor" market wink

1) Attitude is everything
I learned a long time ago never to ask a failure for advice; They normally have nothing good to say. So the next time you are about to apply for that big job, and your friend who has failed 10 times comes to discourage you, give a him a good 10 mile radius and tell him you both answer different last names wink
Also, there may come a time when you start doubting yourself , when you start questioning whether you're really as good as you thought you where (I went thru such wilderness myself), change your mental attitude, it will determine the recruitment altitude you finally obtain.

2)know your problem
A problem known and fully understood is half solved. (Hehehehe well if your problem is from your village,... Then your on ya own oo grin)
But seriously though, borrowing a quote from Tzu Sun's art of war "ultimate victory is assured only when you fully understand yourself and your enemy". I have broken people with job challenges into different categories.

Application failures

People in this category don't get pass the initial application phase. There are number of different reasons for this, some of which include;
Poor cv or cover letter writing skills.
Lack of patience when filling or answering application essays.
Age limitation, etc and etc

My advice for any nysc member reading this is to start EARLY! I can't over emphasize this. I started applying for jobs 6 months to the end of my service year. Doing this gave me 6 months of trial and error to learn how to apply properly without pressure or the desperation that comes after nysc.

aptitude test drop outs

cry I sadly belonged to this class. Believe me when I say that exams are not really a true test of knowledge. Some people J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ do better in aptitude test than others I guess. If you fall into this category then you have your work cut out for you. I will suggest starting from scratch. Get your hands on all popular formats(NL can help you here). Then work work work because there is no substitute.

Interview drop outs

I discovered that while I was jonsing in my aptitude test there where certain monikas here on NL that where always getting to this stage in almost all threads I saw them in. I put these ones in this group. They scale thru the aptitude test with ease, but don't know what they do wrong in interviews.

But sadly I feel this group is much more difficult to solve than the previous category. I say this because whereas peeps with aptitude test problems can improve with constant practice, well I feel interview skills (communication, diction, natural intelligence, confidence, etc ) are not things you J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ "jack" over night but rather are things you develop over time and come to certain people naturally. Before this recruitment process, I hadn't had a single interview before, but I scaled through over 4 interview stages quite easily, stuff J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ came naturally.
assessment day drop outs

Here, its God all they way. If you can get to this stage in any recruitment process, then best know you're surrounded by the best. The only differentiating element is God and INFORMATION!! Read wide! Know the company like you've been working there for ages. Know the spirit of the company and what they stand for. And in all you do through out that day, try and let the company values or principle shine through

3) The God Factor
All I can say is what is yours is yours. Am sadly far from the most righteous person, but I could definitely see the hand of God in causing me to be one of 8 people selected from a pool of over 5000 applicants (including applicants from west africa, and from other parts of the globe).
final advice to undergraduates and serving corps members

To my corper wee!! Like I said earlier, start early. If you are J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ finding out how to write a cover letter one month after service, then something is really wrong with you!

To my undergrads, DON'T RUN AWAY FROM RESPONSIBILITY!!
I can't over stress this. You have no Work experience, so during your interview, all you have to fall back on is whatever things (leadership, teamwork ,etc) you learned through school or What you volunteered for.

Finally, if you know you don't have "THE CONNECTION", or "LONG LEG" or you can't finish with a 1st class, please try to leave with a 2-1.
The labour market is bloody. Even we with 2-1's are barely seeing enough elbow room and breathing space, how much so you with a 2-2 or 3rd class with no connection?

God bless and help us all as we push to the top
Congratulations bro. I also got to the assessment stage in 2009, but didn't get the Job. Not a bad place to start one's career.

abbakacici: Minister of finance south east
SEC south east
Debt management office south east
Amcon south east
ifrs south south
NDIC north west.
Which leave south west, north central and north east with no representation when it comes to financial banking or economic matters, because it the most advance country in the world used quota system, for example canada divide jobs between French and English, in USA a black Latino with 70 percent has a better chance of getting a job or admission then white with 80 percent if the school or organization is dorm inmate by white, and in Belgium jobs are dividen between German and French the list goes on. The only different between this countries and nigeria is that they look for the best black, French or German for the job to make them look diverse unlike nigeria where we look for any tom dick or Harry
You forgot to add Orji of Sovereign wealth fund.

36STATES: If any of you writing these things here had lost money in the stock market crash of 2008 you would have known that Soludo was a disaster. Solude is a big time crook and doesn't have the qualification and the uprightness to run a sensitive institution like CBN. Sanusi is the best thing that happened to the central bank ever. Though a lot of corruption is still going on there, but that is a discussion for another day. Soludo was 100% aware of all the thieving happening in the banks by people like Mrs Ibru of Oceanic, Erastus Akingbole of GTB etc. OBJ, Soludo and Ndi Onyiuke was real axis of evil for investors in Nigeria when they were heading there respective offices.
Why associate Akingbola with GTB? Is it ignorance or mischief?

Is this a joke? Tony Elumelu is a smart marketer that has achieved great things for himself. But please, the post of the CBN is not for people like him. We need an Economist, not an ex-banker.

And I keep wondering what yardstick the majority on this thread have to say GTB is the best. Left to me, Size does not connote strength.
You wont understand. The crowd you see in GT branches should tell you the Nigerians love this bank. They design products to meet the needs of their customer. Always a step ahead of other Banks.

ceo4eva: To be Honest, I doubt Vanguard can publish such a letter against OBJ if it's not true. Considering the background of Vanguard (South-West) Newspaper and the Courageous way they have continued to defend this story, It's likely to be TRUE. We all know OBJ is NOT a Saint, even though APC remains supportive of him. There are some contents in the letter that need to be addressed especially Corruption, but don't forget GEJ is/was a product of OBJ. I guess he's annoyed because he no longer controls and dictate to GEJ. GEJ on his own part has refused to respond, thereby further annoying OBJ. Why is OBJ ranting over his daughter's 12-page letter when he wrote an 18-page letter to GEJ?...
Is it about where the owner of Vanguard comes from? It will interest you to know Sam Amuka the owner of Vanguard is Deltan. I heard Ibori bought it from him sef.

FoodRe: Price Of Foreign Rice May Crash As FG Plans Tariff Cut by kolexy(m): 8:18pm On Nov 28, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: I doubt if there is any way you can introduce such policies without having hiccups and shocks or challenges. There is already high quality locally milled rice in the market and its cheaper too. The propaganda and outcry against the policy is being orchestrated by rice importing cabals. Govt should not allow them to succeed. The Nigeria Customs should brace up and face the challenges of smuggling.

As for the automative policy, I think it is good to go. There is always Innoson and other locally made brands for Nigerians to fall back upon. But the policy should be accompanied by car loan policy.

We cannot complain of lack of jobs and at the same attack and KILL every policy targeted at unleashing jobs in the system. The unemployed and the very poor in the society do not buy cars, neither do they import foreign rice. What the poor and unemployed need is jobs, jobs and more jobs.
Which other locally made brand do we have in Nigeria? Do you want to create another monopoly?

BusinessRe: Is Gtbank Really The Best Bank In Nigeria by kolexy(m): 9:02am On Nov 25, 2013
Flyboy Zee: GTB is not in anyway among the best banks in Nigeria.

I have had dealings with Intercontinental Bank, they used to be good up north, but down south, they were just another hag until they metamorphosed into Access. That Bank is crappy.

I moved on to GTB because of the hype in 2008. It was cool then. Good courteous staff with great CRS and prompt services. But after Fola passed on, the Bank passed on with him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen. I walked into a GTB to do some funds transfer while I was in transit, and the teller/cashier was like I should go home and set up my internet service to do internet banking, for chrissakes, WTF? I should leave the bank and go hme first before I can transfer funds. Haba! Ja ma ha!!!

I then moved on to FBN in 2010, and noticed that the bank has changed so much since 1998 when I opened my first account with the bank. Services were great and off the hook. No matter the crowds at the ATMs or inside the bank, you still got served and served well. They were the first to make mobile banking a pocket thing. They simplified internet banking without a token and made money transfer as cheap and easy as buying groundnuts at the street corners. No matter the size of their customer base, the staff are always courteous and helpful. FBN made me loved using bank services all over again...

At fidelity, the bankers were okay. Services weren't that bad either. But, technology wise, they were still in the 1960s. Do you believe that even as at now, the bank is yet to have a good mobile money service? Its just undiscernible in these times and age.

At Stanbic IBTC, they lean towards better corporate services than personal/individual banking. They have good well trained, courteous staff all over the country. But are still lacking in mobile banking services.

#My battery is running low. I'll continue after recharging the batteries#
