Aina was at fault for one of the goals scored by Cameroon hope you remember that

Awaziem played well this Afcon maybe your biased mind is closed to that fact
I will attach the match highlights via YouTube and you will see clearly that Awaziem knowing he would be finished for pace. Kept backing off the Cameroon Attacker and then didn't block off the cross which went into our 18 unrestricted and Cameroon scored.

So explain how Aina was at fault for the goal.

In that match Awaziem was struggling against the much faster Cameroon attackers. He easily could have been sent off.

It should be noted that the assist from, Musa for the goal scored by Ighalo came from a very good cross into the box from Awaziem.

If there is a statistic for most fouls conceded by a player in the SE, l am sure Awaziem will be among the contenders.

Wo, u better get the thought of Moses coming back out of ur mind . Some footballers don't enjoy playing for their national team cus of the stress involved and Moses is one of such players ..He doesn't need the national team for anything again.. He has money .he has won trophies . he is. British citizen .na only patriotism fit make am come back, and unfortunately, he no get!
You know common sense should teach everyone that there is always a number of different versions of the same story depending on who you speak too.

First question do you know Victor Moses ❓ So how on earth can you come to such conclusion about a person you don't know have probably never met in your life.

Just on HEARSAY don't you think that's a bit hasty and I'll advised.

Maybe because in my experience the media image of some players and who they are in most cases are MILES APART.

There are 4 players in the super eagles that he doesn't like at all.. He'd do anything to discredit them..
Iheanacho chief among then.followed by Osimhen, Omeruo and Awazeim.

Don't expect any positive words from him regarding those players
This is not about emotive sentiment but performances on the field of play.

Tell me one unjustifiable comment with regards to selection and or strict performance l have made about any of these players.

KC has flopped badly and there is no way you can dress it up.

Omeruo is an average defender that will never play for Chelsea. He is not outstanding he may be the best Nigerian CB it doesn't make him a top quality player.

Osimhen was unjustifiably selected as an academy player for the SE. Was justifiably selected for the AFCON but currently lacks the physicality with regards to this competition and his 50 minutes second half performance was abysmal.

Awaziem is a makeshift players with multiple inadequacies playing the Full/ Wing back position. Because your goalkeeper plays as a striker and puts up below average performance you then say he has been exceptional and done VERY WELL because he is a goalkeeper we must make exceptions. That's your rational proposition for claiming he Awaziem has performed. It's an excuse to accept mediocrity.

However, Awaziem did not perform to the required standard irrespective of his circumstances.

That's the pertinent observation no sentiment involved.

He has been a top scorer in the championship over the two seasons. And did not too much at a relegation fighting Swansea that had lost its way. He is 21 and has played 130 first team games and effective three seasons, you can confidently say he is an experienced consistent top quality player.

I am not sold on Moses returning.

Let us give the younger player more opportunity
Younger is not a stand alone attribute that equates to outstanding quality.

I am 100% sold out for the best performing players to be selected based on consistent continous outstanding top quality performances in thier clubs and leagues.

If those players are 40 or 16 is irrelevant.

Let the best man come in no sentiment or emotional bias.

In this regard if Vic Mo comes back with open arms and the killing of goat l will welcome him back. If Obagoal starts to Register OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES in club and league I will welcome him too.

awaziem was solid throughout the competition,he is one of the players that impressed me so much. the likes of tiago silva, ramos, pique, bonucci, chillieni, van dyke etc are rated as the best defenders in the world but they still gets turned in and out by attackers but that doesn't rub off their qualities and artistry in marshaling the defense line.

for a natural centre back who was slotted in the rb position which is unfamiliar to him at the heat of a big competition as the afcon and he did pretty well shows his level of confidence and exposure have improved. i just pray he leaves porto permanently
That's not the issue.

The issue is overall consistent continous performances not exceptions.

The attributes to be an outstanding Wing/ Full back he simply does not have. He doesn't have the basics.

First of all he has Zero pace that is huge disadvantage in that position that alone pushes you to the bottom of the pile. Secondly his technical ability with 1 on 1 offensive play was very limited.

What he did do very well he was VERY INTELLIGENT he realised his handicaps and played within those limitations but his limitations meant he couldn't support Chukwueze and or come forward to attack.

But the issue was that both the SA and Algerians recognised his handicaps. That made him the weakest link as a full/ Wing back.

Knowing fully well his deficiencies he should never have been playing that position. Irrespective of how he managed his deficiencies.

What fact, did he have the most tackles of our defenders, most clearances, most Aerial duels won?

Just because he was top in one aspect meant he was our best defender?
In my opinion our defenders were very poor particularly our CB.

Ekong clearing ball anywhere and anyhow like Police or is it Balogun that was making primary school boy errors Or Omeruo who was misting headers and getting bullied like a youth player.

So tell me what statistic did our CB's excelled in comparison to other CB's in this AFCON , that's the pertinent unit of measurement.

What's remarkable is that Aina could have such impressive stats consider he was dropped for two games. It means the possibility exists that his could have been much better and on multiple fronts that makes head and heals above all our current defenders in this AFCON.

Begging any player, whether Messi or Ronaldo, Ighalo or Moses is a NO NO for me

A truly patriotic player will give his utmost best in matches. He doesn't need begging to play for his country, He is ready to die on the pitch for his country.

I don't want any player feeling bigger than the team. I don't want any cabal formation in my beloved Super Eagles.

NB I warned them about taking Mikel to AFCON but I was met with insults. In the same vein, I vehemently oppose any calls for Moses and Ighalo. Let them stay retired while we look to the future. We have some hungry, younger guys looking for opportunity. We mustn't waste such opportunities on old retirees
If Patriotism, Hunger, Being Younger, were the only attributes for Success then India with thier young hungry population would win the world cup every year.

Nobody currently can replace Victor Moses and Ighalo currently, who are only 28 and 30 years.

Vic Mo has regressed and may not even listen to any calls out of retirement.

His conversion to a wingback in Chelsea limited his attacking instincts and dulled it over time.

Ighalo should just stay put. Begging a Nigerian player out of retirement is tantamount to creating a demi-god in a team who may start disrespecting the coach and may even form a cabal. That is the way I see it. I don't think Ighalo understudied any person when he came into the team. All our young attackers have clubs where they can learn. If you take your time to read Odegbami's article, you will enlighten your self to stop spreading false notions due to your lack of comprehending a point.

I have taken time to explain that our goal should not be small gains but build a consistent top performing National team that will last for a long time.

I want us playing in a brave, offensive and possessive fashion. Dominating our opponents in most games and creating loads of chances for our forwards.

To achieve this will require thorough scouting to produce sound offensive and possessive talents from both home and abroad. It will require continuous building to find better players in every role and promote competition within the team.

Rohr does not stand for this and that is why I feel he should not continue. He can not lead us down that path.

I also believe Amunike's philosophy offers this and with support and time he can build that consistent team.

The title comes after but the brave play comes first.
Agreed in principle.

However, that cancer that bedevils everything in Nigeria affects football a lot.

Then the problem of arrangement and favoritism and players having to sign with the coaches preferred agent, etc.

Until we deal with corruption these matters persist.

Why do you think Rohr got the job a seasoned manager in Africa who understands how we do our things and will give to Ceasar what Ceasar demands, with such a huge salary. Merit alonehuh

Fulham was the best footballing side in the Championship before winning promotion to the EPL. I suspect they will continue with that philosophy, hopefully they will not loose too many players and will bounce back to the EPL. If the reports are true, best move for him.

With regards to possible options for the AM role he IMO is the best out of all the Nigerian origin players in the UK.

In terms of football quality it's a near perfect fit for Onomah, on the deck technical football. But most of all he will have OPPORTUNITY to develop and claim position and be in the EPL next season with Fulham ot anybody else if matters go according to plan.

Tottenham will have got the best English left Fulback in the name of Ryan Ssegnon. Last summer Liverpool had a bid of £30 million rejected by Fulham. So good business for him.

Nice article. Dissects the roots of our problems in football.

Poor league management

Few if any chances for academy prospect to develop under a template

Age cheating at all levels

Corruption in the glass house

And so on. Sacking Rohr is simply blaming him as a scapegoat for all these maladies. Until there is a deliberate and purposeful revamp in our football, we will continue to replace coaches
The Nigerian problem can be expressed in the proposition as follows, " The acceptance of Failure is the beginning of SUCCESS "

We refuse to accept failure as the antidote for finding the solution for success. We instead enthrone MEDIOCRITY and then our in depth cancer CORRUPTION is being treated with paracetamol.

Former Nigeria U23 invitee Tosin Kehinde could make his professional debut very soon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The attacking midfielder joined Danish Super Liga side Randers on a season-long loan earlier this month, and manager Thomas Thomasberg has given an indication that he's part of his plans after naming him on the roster for the first two matches of the new season.

Kehinde was a non-playing substitute against SönderjyskE (July 14) and Brondby (July 21)

The 21-year-old departed Manchester United in the summer of 2018 as he feared he may not play for the first team, but his situation did not change when he joined CD Feirense as he ended up playing for their U23 team last season.

Signed to bolster Randers attack, Kehinde is competing with Hammershøj-Mistrati, Kallesøe and Marvin Egho for one of the spots in the starting line-up.

Ahead of a potential debut in the coming weeks, he could feature for Randers reserve team when they tackle
Brabrand on Monday afternoon.

must he cross the damn ball into the 18 yard box? How often does neymar cross the ball into the 18 yard box?. All I want samu to develop is the ability to cut in, and place banana-like shot into the damn net. He should develop his dribbing skill. I do not belong to the camp like komekn that want him to cut off his excesses dribbling, cos if he do that, he gonna lost his flow and edge. He should try as much as possible to effectively use his dribbling skill to tear down defence and place banana-like shot into the damn net. I want him to be selfish with the ball.
If you look at the way Sana, Raheem, Aguero and Gabriel play for Many city. Dribbling without end product in the modern game is simply NONSENSE FOOTBALL ENTERTAINMENT and will lead you nowhere.

We Africans love it but European football looks at it only when there is consistent continous top class outstanding END PRODUCT. Without that, it becomes unnecessary excessive noise making.

He will be very wise to stay at Villareal and learn and develop more. It's better to improve and create consistency and long term career progression than short term gains that may not enhance his career.

Oga this ur post is confusing oo.. each paragraph contradicts the other...

Klopp and Guardiola already have regular players who lead their attack...Signing Chukwueze to their team at this time would mean he would serve as a back up player not a regular . that's my point
What they haven't talked about and added to the equation is the other players in the U23 and on loan who are knocking on the door for first football. They are looking at him in isolation and exclusion as if there are not any other quality players in the mix. So even the assumption of back up is not CERTAIN.

Most people think that quality is all about maverick dribbling without end product and or team cohesion.

His blistering pace may not be so blistering in the EPL and depending on how much they have paid for him it's quite probable he could end up in the U23's.

Chukwueze still has a lot to learn he would be wise to stay at Villareal and keep developing before going anywhere else.
