Holla911: You are spot on. We must be patriotic at this trying times. We must resist all sabotage and foreign influences set to destabilise us and steal from us. Uranium is the new oil, think about it.
Well said.
Uranium, Lithium, Gold, Tantalite, gem stones, water resources, etc, are their main targets for financing their greedy, evil intentions. The American economist and United Nations adviser, Prof. Jeffrey Sachs in his video speech a few years back already gave enough economic hints in Ethiopia to Africa and discerning developing countries to learn from. He emphasized CLEARLY that in order for all these medium to long-term plans to work, security MUST be taken seriously and any African country that wants to be in the league of China within 30 years must avoid internal or external wars which are well known to deplete the financial resources that should have been used for education, technological and infrastructural developments.
Holla911: It's not surprising. Almost all west African states are now facing economical and terrorism threats.
Absolutely, Burkina Faso got hit by a major terrorist attack by Islamist insurgents a few months ago in 2024. They share boundaries with Mali and Ghana.
Intel shows that Ghana is under threat as well. All hands must be on deck to prevent the looming chaos from external and internal threats anywhere in West Africa and the whole of Africa. Once a country sinks into war, terror groups have often used the opportunity to dig in and make those countries as base like we are seeing in Mali, Somalia, and parts of Niger Republic. Yemen and Afghanistan also fall into that category.
That's really serious. There's indeed a renewed, relentless drive on all fronts to get Nigeria immobilized by sabotaging and destroying critical infrastructure. The nearly 1 month power outage in the entire North of Nigeria due to the sabotage of the power transmission facilities at Shiroro in Niger State is one of them. Whatever is needed to immobilize these insane criminals must be done.
Massive and sustainable actions have to be taken in order to ruthlessly take down these perpetrators. If nothing is done, Nigerians and Diasporan Nigerians will feel it big time due to the individual Diasporan investments in Nigeria. If war breaks out, where will people run to? West African countries will NOT allow Nigerians to flood their countries as refugees due to their own economic challenges that have been further made worse by the hyperinflation caused by the Russian-Ukraine War and more.
Due to global and localized hyperinflation, rising unemployment, etc, there are increasing cases of anti-immigration and violent protests in a lot of countries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia that Nigerians and other developing nation nationals are known for gravitating towards, therefore ensuring that Nigeria doesn't go down in order for these criminals and fifth-columnists to take over is key. Make your country more livable and investment-friendly like the developed countries you run to. Period.
thesicilian: Israel as it is today is the brainchild of the US and it's allies. But one day Israel is going to grow into a monster and bite the US in the asss
Indeed, you and I share the same thoughts here with the bolded. I fear that Iran, North Korea, and China, that have been militarily and financially empowered by Russia for years now can and will viciously bite Russia down the road as well.
We live in a world of vicious cycles of betrayals... A world of "duality," good and bad, hot and cold, male and female, night and day, etc.
I STAND WITH ISRAEL As they do the needful to every TERRORISTS and Terrorists Organization.
United Nothing is a total disgrace to themselves in Gaza. The UN is more of Terrorist organization and enabler in Gaza Well over 80% percent of so called UN staffers in Gaza are Terrorists.
UNRWA is HAMAS
"United NOTHING"... That's a new one.
The bolded are very strong words to use though. The UN staffers are majorly humanists but NOT necessarily terrorists. You have to be a humanist in order to have the passion to work for the various United Nations agencies.
If the State of Israel has iron-clad evidence to show that as many as 80 percent of the UNRWA local staff took part in the infamous October 7, 2023 terror attacks on Southern Israel, then they can bring up all the evidence. Based off of the current situation in Gaza and the entire Middle East, there's NO doubt that some infiltrators and terrorist sympathizers (who should be isolated) have partial or full ties with the ORIGINALLY noble work of the United Nations in providing relief materials to those who genuinely and desperately need them in Gaza.
However, it must be emphasized here and now that a vast number of staff of United Nations agencies globally are humanists and NOT terrorists or terrorists sympathizers. Period.
diamond68: Now it's no secret among Nigerians living in the UK that the hardest time you will get in the UK will be from a fellow Nigerian. They bone you on the street, look at you in anger, you greet them they don't greet back, you work with them they try to get you fired, they see you in a train and don't want to sit next to you etc etc. It's very fascinating to observe this behaviour . So why does this happen ?
It's very important to understand that the landmAss called Nigeria is just a geographic location like everywhere else on the planet. If you evicted all 200 million Nigerians from that location and filled it up with whites or Chinese, in under 50 years Nigeria will be transformed to a first world paradise and the whole world would want to japa into Nigeria because imagine a first world country that's blessed with that much resources and it's managed well ? It would be the ultimate pAradise on earth. Nigeria has the potential to be the ultimate pAradise on earth . So it's not the country that's the problem, it's the people.
When someone japas out of Nigeria he is running away from the people not the country. And when he sees the same people in the UK he trieS to run away from them. He tries to japa from them. He does not want to associate with them. It's the same people he japA from in Africa. In his mind he associates these people with corruption and violence and brashness and mismanagement and stealing and incompetence. So the Nigerian tries to japa from the Nigerian everywhere he sees him outside of Nigeria
Those are interesting summations.
China is a near-monolithic country in terms of ethnicity (but for the presence of the Uigurs of China who are mostly practicing Muslims).
So, in terms of development, if millions of Chinese are transported to take over the entire Nigerian landmass, they would succeed faster because of their near-monolithic ethnic configuration unlike that of the Nigerians who have 250 distinct ethnic groups and languages.
Last but not least, because of past negative experiences with the UK law enforcement and immigration agencies, some folks of Nigerian descent on the street level don't want to get too close or familiar because they don't know you too well.
Advision: Same in the UK. Earlier Immigrants tends to exhibit the greater vile to other Immigrants...the likes of Suela Breverman and Kemi Badenoch
Kemi Badenoch (whose husband is a British-Jewish banker) and the other British-Jewish woman (Suela Breverman) are both British-born NOT direct immigrants like their parents.
Indeed, descendants of immigrants in other countries such as the United States and Canada have also been Identified in the same vile space that Kemi and the others in the UK have towards newer immigration.
bestman09: I think you misunderstand me here. Coleman is a company, with a chairman and other directors even though it was founded by a man and they have been in business for long, even when this John Ezeobi was still in primary school. Zobis on the other hand is still a one man business. If you are looking for comparison to Coleman, you should be thinking of Kabelmetal, Cutix, MicCom, Nocaco etc. These are cable manufacturers in Nigeria that you can compare to Coleman, not Zobis
@bestman09,
Aha! If that's what you meant then that's OK. I understand what you originally meant now. You're right. Coleman and the others have all been around for long unlike Zobis who is a younger sole enterprise. Kudos to all of them though as they bravely embark on the quest to fill in the existing gaps or demand for quality wire cables which has NOT fully been met yet in these challenging times of global inflation and economic uncertainties.
naptu2: This thing is very funny to me and I am waiting for the person that will deploy that scaremongering tactic on one of my threads.
1) The problem with the vehicle that caught fire in Benin was that the owner did a home made modification. They welded CNG tanks by thelselves without using the approved tanks and safety measures.
2) Far more petrol vehicles have caught fire than CNG vehicles. In fact, a petrol vehicle exploded last weekend (some funny people are spreading rumours that it was a CNG vehicle, but it was actually a petrol vehicle). Does that mean that people should stop using petrol vehicles?
3) It's all about using the proper and approved safety measures. There will be a fire if you don't use proper safety measures in a petrol vehicle and there will be a fire if you don't use proper safety measures in a CNG vehicle, just as there will be a fire if proper safety measures are not used in an electric vehicle.
For every story about fire in a CNG vehicle, I can produce ten stories about fires in petrol vehicles and similar stories about fires in electric vehicles.
Greetings @Naptu2
Very well said. It's refreshing reading your post here. I was already really getting pissed off with the several banal and misplaced comments about CNG on this thread. It seems like some "incels" and "troll farms" are operating here to mislead people. The Channels Television reporter who is from Edo State spoke without passion in his voice. I was watching a live online streaming of Maupe on Channels Television a day after that single Edo blast took place and she also displayed a "demotivating" comment by saying that people are now weary about CNG and that when she has an LPG cylinder in her car booth, she usually makes sure she doesn't drive long distances to refill her gas in Abuja for fear of an explosion! As an investigative journalist that she is, I didn't expect her to say all that on live television so as not to create further panics or doubts.
A simple online search CLEARLY shows that right from 2007, NIPCO and NNPC went into a CNG partnership program in Edo and Lagos States and as of 2023, over 5,000 vehicles in Edo State were already running on CNG (methane) fuel since 2007. With this historical FACT in mind, why is it that Edo State (Benin City) suddenly became a target for this CNG-related explosion? I think it could also be a sabotage to generate a negative reaction online and offline to slow down the adoption rate.
I've been able to contact and convince folks that I know to immediately embark on the CNG conversions at accredited locations by sharing NNPCL CNG videos with them showing testimonials from satisfied CNG users and they too are excited about this. I believe that videos and testimonials from satisfied end users of CNG are powerful marketing and advertising tools for speeding up the adoption rate of CNG. The states and local governments can also trigger more CNG usage by deploying CNG on high-capacity buses for public use, CNG ferries like Lagos said they were going to do, and CNG trains for passengers and cargo haulage.
Whoa! Beyonce spoke EXTEMPORE and her speech was incredibly powerful just before she introduced VP Kamala Harris. I never knew she's got the gift of the garb... I have a different perspective of Beyonce from here on out. What's with the "oversized suit" Kelly has on?
Kelly Rowland and Beyonce full speeches at Kamala Harris rally in Houston
Sosqui: The truth is that the above cost from these firms are quite outrageous. You can do your CNG conversion at NIPCO stations for NGN750,000 for 4 cylinder engine with 55kg tank and NGN775,000 for 65kg tank. 6 cylinder cars with 65kg tank cost about NGN815,000.
I can see that a significant number of Nigerians engage in the most extreme forms of self-sabotage. What is all the scaremongering for?
The Channels Television reporter also engaged in subliminal scaremongering instead of explicitly affirming through his voice tone that CNG is very safe since it flows above air and dissipates. The CNG conversions are supposed to be done at accredited centres such as NIPCO and more. I have seen HIGHLY positive video testimonials from NNPCL and others of folks who have converted to CNG-gasoline hybrid fuel systems for their cars and many have talked happily about making massive profits from their various transportation businesses in addition to less visits to the auto mechanics.
That CNG is also in use in over 75 countries from India, Russia, USA, Kenya, South Africa, etc.
Glimpsetv: I know that when it comes to how certain things are done, there are always different approaches and opinions, especially when it comes to relationship matters. However, in this video, we are going to be playing soon, a pastor has revealed that kneeling down to propose to a lady is satanic.
The pastor said he discovered from the Bible that kneeling down to propose to a lady is satanic. He said most people think it's romantic: go into the house and propose, "he that finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor. What are you bringing it to social media for? Must everything be on social media?"
He continued, "People now kneel down and propose, how can the Lord kneel down and propose to his subject? It's like saying they want to ordain the king of this country but the King must lie down. The Lord of the woman is now kneeling down to propose to the woman, and tomorrow he wants to be Lord over her. What we think is romantic is actually Satan orchestrating our downfall."
The pastor went on to make further revelations about marriage while making reference to the Bible.
What's your take on this message? Do you think it's of any importance to actually kneel to propose to a lady? Please, we would like to know your opinion on this. Feel free to drop your thoughts in the comment section.
First off, this so-called pastor based on his communication style and looks is a charlatan! He's discussing a very BANAL topic (which is laced with his own ethnic and cultural beliefs) on marriage proposals which he calls satanic and ascribes it to his reading of the bible.
Will you all now drop the Church weddings and white wedding gowns please since they are Western cultural or traditional concepts.
Various cultures worldwide have variegated cultures and different attitudes towards proposals and weddings. Therefore it's important for a young man to do what he's comfortable doing to signify his interest in taking a relationship to another level. Period.
bestman09: John Ezeobi is a very articulate young man, an industrialist and a philanthropist. He's constructing a road in our town as we speak. We actually came from the same town and he is my junior brother but his money 💰🤑 is too much!
Eze ebu na afor, why not be happy for the little achievements of your brother, a very young man at that? The Coleman you are comparing him with, do you know how long they have been in the market? Do you know the government patronage Coleman enjoys? Why not compare him to kabelmetal, nocaco, miccom cables etc
I saw your other post on page 1 where you infered that Coleman Wires and Cables is not an individual business. This is incorrect. Asiwaju Solomon Kayode Onafowokan is the chairman of Coleman Wire and Cables. He is also the Asiwaju of Remo Kingdom in Ogun State. The Ijebus of Ogun State, Ijesas of Osun State, Ondos of Ondo City in Ondo State, etc, have some of the most business-oriented and biggest manufacturers and industrialists among the Yoruba folks so this achievement of Coleman Wires and Cables as the biggest in West Africa isn't surprising.
The young man of 40 years from your village of Nnewi has done well just like Coscharis and some genuine ones from Nnewi have done, but you DON'T have to angrily (based on your response to the other poster) downplay another manufacturer's or industrialist's hard fought achievements by saying Coleman Wires and Cables enjoys "government patronage" as if they are favoured without merit. If you read the full story of the Onafowokan family, you will know how that company became the largest cable manufacturer in West Africa through hard work.
The MD/CEO of Coleman Wires and Cables which is the biggest indigenous cable maker in West Africa located in Ogun State is George Onafowokan. The Onafowokan family owns that cable company. It's a very trusted and popular Nigerian brand that is certified because of it's very high quality that's also known internationally. Period.
Nigerian Lawyer, Opeyemi Mabawonku who works with PWC results to violently beating his wife, Abiola, former lead HR at Paystack right in front of their two daughters pic.twitter.com/o2ZGd5VPoL
The male YouTuber commenting in the video is largely talking trash here! Some of his opinions are quite annoying. These kinds of YouTubers make unguarded comments with the intention of finally breaking up people's lives and relationships. First off, the lady made an allegation of infidelity against her PwC lawyer husband which he found offensive and CLEARLY denied in the video.
Women (married and unmarried) naturally tend to read body languages and get suspicious whenever they see other ladies with their men and so they begin to analyze and overanalyze situations in their heads. She made some rude or cutting statements in the video footage which triggered the lawyer's anger which then led him into throwing things at her from the dining table.
In any event, anger management is key here and he should have walked away. It seems he just came into the house from work fully dressed and must have been stressed up. He did well by telling his daughters to leave so as NOT to see him and his wife querelling. Women can test your patience a lot as a man but you have to also learn to understand them and talk thinks out firmly and calmly. Walk away even if she continues to "nag" about the issue and let a third party like her father know about the alleged false accusations she has made against you. All men have a healthy ego and don't like to be talked down upon relentless, and women have to get iron-clad evidence in these kinds of situations before leveling allegations of seeing another woman against any man.
If a man is presented with iron-clad evidence by his spouse that he's having an affair with another woman, he'll accept responsibility and apologize WITHOUT getting violent.
Both of them have to come together in the presence of trusted family members and iron things out now that the video of the CCTV footage is in the public domain. They must apologize to one another and the lawyer has to specially apologize to everyone because he was caught on camera throwing things in anger and ensure it NEVER happens again. If a man is tired of his wife and has no passion for her anymore then he should get separated from her and engage in co-parenting. Period.
IbeOkehie: All this one is long story. When it comes to marriage, once there's controversy the man has no defense. How do you read the mind? Impossible. Also people change over time, both men and women....and women have the upper hand in any legal contest. The ONLY DEFENSE is an iron clad prenuptial agreement and other perfectly legal pre-marital measures to protect assets This can't be overemphasized.
Also Nigerian residents abroad should stop marrying spouses from Nigeria. The poverty in that country has turned 99.99999% of people there into cold hearted, calculating desperados. They see Nigerians abroad THE SAME WAY they see those White mugus they victimize in romance scams. Even those Nigerian residents marrying a spouse based abroad with true intentions mostly do it for improved living standards, not any love or affection. That's the reality.
Even Bible talk am, do not be unequally yoked, it can have disastrous consequences. If you must marry a Nigerian resident and you're abroad, the vetting process must be top notch in addition to prenup and asset protection. Too many FAKE middle class Nigerians out there. This is a life & death issue. Young people reading, take the hint. Who will rake coals into their bossom and not be burned? Jesus wept.
Good Luck to Nigerians.
I speak as an OG. The major thrust of my post was very valid and CLEARLY emphasized that YOU don't get married to a woman right out of the blues. You have to ruthlessly get to know her during your dating period which could be within a one-year time frame and do a lot of weeding out in informal situations based off of what she says and does (actions) while not losing sight of your deal-breakers. If you have the power of discernment (the inner game), you will read her easy peazy before saying "I do" to each other so as NOT to get to the point where you will become defenseless like a fish out of water. There are folks of all cultural backgrounds and faiths around the world who have have stayed long in long-term relationships with minimal headwinds. Asian-Americans, British-Asians, Mormons, and a couple of others for instance have some measures of success in that space.
In ruthlessly getting to know a woman, there are specifics you have to target. Does she relate with and speak well of her biological father and other male siblings including those outside her nuclear family? How does she treat little children? Is she aggressive towards these people or age demographics? There are more indices you look at. This is the major thrust of my post that you quoted.
However, some of your points in later paragraphs are valid.
officialwdhtvv: How I lost my house in the UK after the wife I brought from Nigeria reported me to the police for alleged physical assault — Nigerian man
It's all about the inner game... The importance of a woman who's a "daddy's girl" CANNOT be overemphasized, and ruthlessly weed out any drama queen that comes into your life. Any broad that brings drama can "kick rocks." There's absolutely nothing wrong though with being in a long-term relationship with a woman of Nigerian descent or other women of any nationality as long as boundaries are set. Anything less than the best is a felony. Period.
As for migrating to Japan, there is already a semi-active thread. Anyone interested should read from the beginning and ask specific questions and I would be glad to respond to the best of my knowledge: https://www.nairaland.com/2655545/japanese-visa-travelling-japan/40
fullclub: This is a rejoinder because i felt that if i dont give an account on how it ended it won't be nice. Here is the other or first thread about my complaint and how i found it difficult to adjust and meet up my financial obligations in uk. https://www.nairaland.com/7889678/experience-uk-since-japa-warning
I want to thank all those who advised me to stay back and fight it through. After reading those positive comments and some friends here i decided to stay back. Today i want you all to join me celebrate as i have graduated from the University here and my graduation is coming up November 29th 2024. It was not an easy journey honestly at first i thought it will be impossible to complete my studies giving the fact that school started mounting pressure on me shortly after i decided to stay back.
I got first job December/January but honestly it couldn't sustain house rent. So i had to sell some properties in Naija to remain afloat, Then stopped the job i was on when i got another one and the pay was sustainable but lost that one after few months. Then my dependant who came leta got a job and together our finances could now sustain and also clear fees balance. The property I sold enabled me to clear some part of school fees because that is the main burden to student aside rent
Lessons learnt so far:
1) To all folks planing on japa via school should make adequate preparation, do your planning/home work well because the first 6 months in UK is not for the faint hearted. On the aspect of school feee ensure you have plans on how to get it cleared as fast as possible.
2) If you don't know how to drive please and please learn it. You don't need to have a car before u learn. Learn now... Like now its a skill that is valuable in all field.
3) Again if you plan to japa now or in future, please know thar driving or knowing how to drive is a skill its self.
4) It is quite expensive to learn how to drive when u leave Nigeria. You can spend over 5m to learn how to drive in UK.
5) Buying a car is far cheaper as a month rent is enough to get you a modern car.
6) Having a car and a driver licence will open doors for you that are impossible to open
7) No one (Nigerians) borrow or lend any money in the UK.. I mean reasonable money like 100, 200 etc. Although u could get credit card. I mean abeg borrow me this money i go pay back so soo time.
8.) life could be lonely amongst the Nigerian communities as everyone is chasing money. But is life fun for British? Yes the British like a fun filled lifestyle. We dont club 1/10th in Nigeria like they do here but can you foot the bill like a newcomer in town?
9) it takes an average of 3 months to 4 months to get a job. Soo I will say there are jobs especially for those who have previous experience in a field. The more experience u have the better and faster u are to get jobs.
10) don't learn automatic driving leaving manual. Please learn manual car driving then u could learn automatic. 80% of cars here are manual. U can see 2020 manual car model everywhere
11) you could use public transport to get to a place in 2:30hrs whereas same place will take u 13 minutes or less with your private car.
12) food is crazy cheap but house rent is not cheap. So staying in remote places could safe u more assuming u have a car to get to place of work.
13) if you are coming its good to have 1000 pounds set aside to learn skills thay could land u job easily. This skills and certification are just few weeks to achieve.
14) learn to network with those on ground. They already know or have some job connections hidden that could take u years to find out.
15) at least know the basics of computer operations like how to send mail, do job search via indeed. Use ms Word etc it helps. 16) in Nigeria when see someon or stranger u stone ur face.. Bone ur face trying to investigate but in the uk its otherwise. When u see someone u smile.. And be polite.
17) no power failure not even a seconds.
18) all road are connected
19) nothing like tribalism or regionality in UK. Like every uk sees him or her self equal and uphold their nationality unlike tribes we do in Nigeria.
fullclub: my dream was that immediately I came over, i and my dependant will search for jobs.. work and pay bill. but that is not feasible as I am seeing it.
i started this process with 15 million naira then when naira nose dive i had to borrowed extra 15 million to top it with interest of almost 2 million naira. landed in uk, started seeing the reality on ground
i have been in UK since 1 month plus. but getting a job as a migrant or new commer without UK experience is not easy. in fact i have sent over 200 job application for cleaner, care assistant etc but all came with a sorry we have moved on to the next stage or you don't have uk experience.
school fees has to be paid. everyone here in tight corner... school has sent mail threatening to report to the immigration if school fees is not paid in the next few weeks to most Nigerians here.
no job, house rent is expensive.. going for 450 to 600 pounds per month.
travelling through student route is not really easy because you have to balance between work and school.. 'even at that where is the job as a new migrant.
Please if you are considering coming to UK for now.. please put on hold. the crowd from Indians, Pakistani, Malaysia, china etc is overwhelming.
it's not worth selling your home to be here.
i sleep in indeed and all this job site.. still yet nothing, bills mounting up.
all my colleague i came with are still with no jobs in other cities
after spending 13 million coming here with extra 3k dollars now almost exhausted chai
if u know you don't have full school fees, house rent for 12 months, upkeep.... running to 35m to 40m please stay back... stay back or apply through skill route.
dominique: Screams from neighbours every night? Did she live in the heart of a war zone? She should tell where she exactly lived in Nigeria, bloody lying nuisance
I agree, she should tell where she lived in Lagos, because I recall a past article where it was indicated her family lived briefly in Lagos and the United States before they returned to England.
This must have been back in the 1980s to the 1990s because Kemi was born in England in 1981 and ONLY returned with her family as a little girl briefly and lived in the United States and Lagos before her academic parents moved back to England.
@Dominique I found that ORIGINAL article.
The Adegoke family (Kemi Badenoch's family) lived in the generally middle-class area of Surulere, near Femi's hospital. The later moved back to the United Kingdom to take her A-levels in maths, biology, and chemistry when she was 16 years old in 1997.
She looks photogenic at 38. She got involved in Cross River State's governance at a very young age before being catapulted into the national stage in Nigeria, so, she's indeed less than 40 years of age.
The timeline right BELOW of when she was born in 1986 right into when she finished high school in 2001 at 15 years of age and University in 2009 as a 23-year-old CLEARLY confirms that her age is accurate.
Background and Education: Betta Chimaobim Edu, born on October 27, 1986.
Hailing from Abi Local Government Area in Cross River State, Betta completed her secondary education in 2001 at the Federal Government Girls College, Calabar. In 2009, she obtained her first degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Calabar. Betta furthered her education with a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health for Developing Countries from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, a master's degree in Public Health in Developing Countries from the same institution, and a Doctor of Public Health from Texila American University.
Career Highlights: In 2015, Edu became the youngest person to be appointed Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Benedict Ayade, on Community and Primary Healthcare. In 2020, she assumed the role of chairman of the Cross River State COVID-19 Taskforce and later became the National Chairman of the Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum in August of that year.
Topman7: Here is the video of Peter Obi saying he would remove subsidy on DAY ONE of his presidency.
He was even shouting that how can we be spending 7 trillion naira annually on fuel subsidy while spending only 3.2 trillion combined on Health and Education!
He was screaming that the whole thing was a scam, and that he wouldn't hesitate to remove it the same day he entered office as president!
Now due to the subsidy removal by President Tinubu, inflation has risen, and Obidients are BLAMING TINUBU for causing the inflation when their principal supported the same policy!
I'm just sick of the BAREFACED HYPOCRISY displayed by certain elements in this country.
I just watched this video twice and within the FIRST 30 seconds of the video, Peter CLEARLY said "Subsidy will go IMMEDIATELY... It is an organized crime." It's highly irresponsible for anyone to have created another NL thread to say that Peter tweeted that he would remove subsidy by 50 percent when in a live program on Channels Television, he CLEARLY stated for the whole world to see and hear that "Petroleum subsidy will go IMMEDIATELY." Peter himself came off as forgetful, inconsistent and mentally befuddled or confused on what he wanted to do with the economy if he became the President with his contradictory comments.
coputa: Here are seven high-risk examples in your home that you should never connect to an extension cord.
1. Air fryer Air fryers are great for quickly cooking and warming food, including full meals and side dishes, but it's not a good idea to attach them to an extension cord or power strip. Although they range in wattage based on size, large air fryers can draw up to 2,000 watts, making them a major fire hazard if they're attached to an extension cord. So if you don't have counter space to keep your air fryer out full time, it's best to pull it out when needed and plug it into a dedicated wall outlet.
2. Microwave While the dream is to move into a home with a built-in microwave, we're all not that lucky. If you have to find a place to connect yours in your kitchen, this is another heavy-duty appliance that should live on its own dedicated circuit due to high wattage.
3. Refrigerator Although refrigerators use less wattage than some other kitchen appliances, they're still not recommended for extension cord use as they are constantly running. Even if the extension cord doesn't cause a fire when attached to a fridge, there's a possibility it could cause the fridge to malfunction.
4. Toaster and toaster oven Although toasters are on the smaller side when it comes to kitchen appliances, they use a lot of energy and pose a fire threat if connected to an extension cord. Toaster ovens need even more power to operate with wattage ranging from 1,200 to 1,400 watts.
5. Extension cords Plugging extension cords into other extension cords is another huge "no!" in the electrician world. When this is done, it's known as "daisy chaining." It can lead to the circuit overheating, which would cause the cords to overheat.
6. Space heaters Electric heaters have long been known to be a major cause of fires. The Consumer Product Safety Commission previously estimated that between 2017 and 2019, portable space heaters were involved in 1,700 fires per year, with some of those fires resulting in deaths.

Mynd44: British actor Idris Elba has told the BBC that he will relocate to Africa within the next decade as part of his plans to support the continent’s movie industry.
The 52-year-old star of the hit series The Wire is behind nascent projects to build a film studio on the Tanzanian islands of Zanzibar as well as one in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.
Born in London, Elba, whose mother is from Ghana and father from Sierra Leone, has a strong attachment to Africa.
He wants to leverage his star power to back its burgeoning film business as he says it is vital that Africans get to tell their own stories.
"I would certainly consider settling down here; not even consider, it’s going to happen," he said in an interview on the sidelines of an industry meeting in Accra. "I think [I’ll move] in the next five, 10 years, God willing. I’m here to bolster the film industry - that is a 10-year process - I won’t be able to do that from overseas. I need to be in-country, on the continent."
But in the spirit of Pan-Africanism he will not commit to living in a specific place. "I’m going to live in Accra, I’m going to live in Freetown [Sierra Leone’s capital], I’m going to live in Zanzibar. I’m going to try and go where they’re telling stories - that’s really important."
One goal he does have is to make a film in his studio in Accra one day. 'Own those stories'
Elba, who played South African anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela in the 2013 biopic Long Walk to Freedom, believes that it is vital for Africans to be centre-stage in the entire film-making process. That is in front of the camera, behind the camera and also in financing, distribution, marketing and showing the final product.
He imagines that just as movie audiences around the world know the differences between the US cities of New York and Los Angeles without necessarily ever having visited them, they will one day have a more nuanced understanding of the continent.
"This sector is a soft power, not just across Ghana but across Africa.
"If you watch any film or anything that has got to do with Africa, all you’re going to see is trauma, how we were slaves, how we were colonised, how it’s just war and when you come to Africa, you will realise that it’s not true.
"So, it’s really important that we own those stories of our tradition, of our culture, of our languages, of the differences between one language and another. The world doesn’t know that."
With Nigeria’s Nollywood producing hundreds of movies a year, films are arguably one of the country’s most successful exports. There is also a tradition, especially in parts of Francophone Africa, of making high-quality films.
Elba has previously recognised the talent in Africa's film industry, but said the facilities were "lacking".
A 2022 report from Unesco backed up the actor.
The UN's cultural agency said that despite "significant growth in production", the business of film-making across the continent was hindered by issues such as piracy, insubstantial training opportunities and a lack of official film institutions.
Elba believes with the right momentum and involvement of governments willing to create an enabling environment, a virtuous circle can be established.
"We have to invest in our story-telling because when you see me, you see a little version of yourself and that encourages us."
Islie: The United States has appreciated the Nigerian government for releasing the Binance Holdings Limited executive, Tigran Gambaryan
The United States has appreciated the Nigerian government for releasing the Binance Holdings Limited executive, Tigran Gambaryan.
Mr Gambaryan, an American and senior employee at the cryptocurrency exchange, who had been detained since February, was released on Wednesday.
The Binance executive and the exchange British Kenya regional manager for Africa, Nadeem Anjarwalla, had been facing money laundering charges to the tune of $35 million brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
But in a statement from the office of the National Security Advisor, the U.S. government confirmed that Mr Gambaryan was released by the Nigerian government on humanitarian grounds.
“I am pleased that American citizen and former U.S. law enforcement official Tigran Gambaryan has been released on humanitarian grounds by the Nigerian government and he is on his way back to the United States so that he can receive needed medical attention.
As soon as we secured Mr Gambaryan’s release, I called his wife Yuki to share this good news. I am grateful to my Nigerian colleagues and partners for the productive discussions that have resulted in this step and look forward to working closely with them on the many areas of cooperation and collaboration critical to the bilateral partnership between our two countries,” the statement signed by Jake Sullivan read.
