FoodRe: Lady Shows Off Tomatoes And Peppers She Bought For 7k, Laments About High Cost by Konquest: 11:34pm On Jun 18, 2024
Glimpsetv:
A beautiful lady who is a chef isn't pleased with the quantity of tomatoes she allegedly bought for five thousand naira and peppers for two thousand naira.

According to her, the same basket of tomatoes she is holding in the video used to cost just one thousand five hundred naira a few months ago. However, this same basket, which isn't even half full as shown in the video, was bought for 5k, while the small quantity of peppers tied in a small black nylon bag was bought for 2k. She called on the Nigerian government to take action.

Please watch the video and listen.

How much do the same quantities of tomatoes and peppers currently cost in your area? We'd like to hear from you. Feel free to drop your answer in the comment section below.

The girl in the video was allegedly "showing off tomatoes and peppers" but was infact being overdramatic and subliminally "showing off her boobs and chest" under the apron. *Smirk* Mtcheew.

You are dishonest and very IRRESPONSIBLE. Stop twisting the history of other ethnicities. Unknown to you dishonest youngsters, Ijebu Igbo was founded by migrants from Ijebu Ode who are of Yoruba bloodline. Go and tell Ijebu folks who are indigenes of 3 Local Government Areas of Lagos State (Ibeju-Lekki, Ikorodu, Epe, and Ajah) and Ogun State that they aren't Yorubas and you'll get a dirty slap right in the face! Ijebuland if you don't know extends right from Lagos State into Ogun State.

What is the problem with some of you dishonest Ibos from the Eastern side of River Niger with the deliberate forging of other people's histories? Several Websites and blogs owned by Ibos are filled up with misleading and forged histories about other ethnic groups in Nigeria which you use for online propaganda going back to the early 2000s when I started paying attention to those propaganda and secessionist Websites. Some of you Ibo youngsters clearly don't even KNOW your own history.

This is exactly how you creeps FALSELY claimed that the word "Egusi" which is a Yoruba word which is well documented in the 1843 English to Yoruba dictionary is an Ibo word until very enlightened Yoruba folks here on NL taught you all a lesson in history by showing screenshots from the Longman English to Ibo dictionary BELOW indicating that the Ibos loaned or borrowed the word Egusi from the Yorubas [Yor]. Elili is the actual Ibo name for the Yoruba word Egusi. Same think too with the Yoruba word Akara and other words for foods, cloths, and many more which Ibos East of River Niger borrowed from Yorubas, Igalas, Edos, Hausas, Ibibios and other ethnicities in Nigeria as seen in the other attached screenshots BELOW.

You remember. You're an excellent student, Sir. grin

Quite sad I'm resuming tomorrow, back to "Kind Regards", but then again, I'd be surrounded with my best work colleagues who make the workplace easier/bearable.

Oh yes, I saw that thread and to be honest, it is quite sad that some people can be small minded to label a young lady a "black bra" cult member simply because she was wearing a black outfit. This means that such person can also label me a member because I have tons of black clothes, no thanks to my profession.

Well, I do hope they get to the bottom of this and justice is served.

Loooooooool Benin is a place to have street credibility and also be conscious. I won't recommend the place for raising kids though. But I'd like to admit that I was "sheltered" with high walls, my parents didn't quite subscribe to I and my siblings mixing with the "street" kids but I was quite adventurous and learnt from them. There were cultists in my hood and because I had already established some sort of "friendship" with them, we weren't disturbed. One of them liked me, but the other one who looked at me like a child told him to dead his feelings for me, hence the "protection". cheesy

As for harassment? Well, I NEVER experienced cultist harassment all through my Uni days. Twas more of sexual harassment from lecturers and fellow students.

Take care Kon.quest. smiley
A very profound feedback... Succinctly stated.

I like your simple analogy about your black cloths which pretty much sums up the whole thing. That's true... black is worn as a law student leading right up to becoming a qualified lawyer after Law School graduation.

The Fulani jihad invasions of Kano and other parts of the North of Nigeria from areas around modern Mali, Niger Republic, Guinea, etc, were from the year 1803 so, the Fulah line of Emirs in Kano is roughly 221 years ago.

The Sarkis (Kings) of the Habe dynasty of the Hausas were in existence before the Fulani invasions and the dynasty lasted nearly 1000 years. That dynasty too also had some foreign ancestry but had integrated and become Kanawas or Kano indigenous folks.

PoliticsRe: Edo 2024: Elders Slam LP Supporters Over Insults On Oba Of Benin by Konquest: 7:37pm On Jun 18, 2024
Good01:
A group of elders in Edo State has strongly condemned what they called “unwarranted barrage of insults and abuses” being directed at the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II, by supporters of the Labour Party and its gubernatorial candidate, Olumide Akpata.

The elders, who operate under the umbrella of the Edo Socio-Cultural Advancement and Good Governance Initiative, expressed shock and disappointment at what they described as a “childish, unwarranted and unacceptable behavior” of some Labour Party supporters across various social media platforms.

DAILY POST recalls that the 2023 presidential candidate of LP, Peter Obi and Akpata on Saturday paid a courtesy visit to the Oba’s palace shortly after inaugurating the party’s campaign office ahead of the September 21 governorship election.

During the visit, Akpata while seeking the support of the traditional ruler, repeatedly referred to himself as a “son of the palace” in both English and the local dialect.

But Oba Ewuare II later countered the claim.

According to a video clip making the rounds, the Oba swiftly dismissed his assertion, stating that he had asked one of his chiefs to verify Akpata’s claims, only to find that the candidate had no direct or distant links to the Palace.

The development did not go down well with some of the LP guber candidate’s supporters, with some of them verbally attacking the Oba on various social media channels.

However, in a press statement made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday, spokesman of the Elders’ group, Comrade Melvin Irabor, said the Oba was not out of place in correcting Akpata’s claim to be the “son of the palace.”

“Our Oba was not out of place in correcting the erroneous remarks and insinuations by the Labour Party candidate, Barr. Olumide Akpata, for claiming to be the ‘Son of the Palace’,” Irabor said.

He noted that they were inundated with a “barrage of abuses” on the revered Oba of Benin by Akpata’s supporters on platforms.

Irabor read out some of the “disappointing comments,” including one by a user who described the Oba as a “useless ruler,” and another who suggested that the Oba would have “warmly received” Akpata if he had brought “money full of ‘Ghana must go.'”

The group emphasized that the Oba of Benin, as the “mouthpiece of the gods and the revered royal father of the kingdom,” has a responsibility to stay apolitical and correct any candidate making “erroneous remarks and insinuations.”

"Every candidate contesting in this election has the support and blessings of our Oba. He is the father of all and he wishes every one of them well,” Irabor stated.

The elders warned the Labour Party supporters to desist from hurling insults on the Oba, stating that such actions would be considered an “affront on the palace.”

They called on all political parties to conduct their campaigns in a “democratic manner and keep the campaign issues-based.”

https://dailypost.ng/2024/06/18/edo-2024-elders-slam-lp-supporters-over-insults-on-oba-of-benin/
The Oba of Benin was right in correcting Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata in the palace and it was done amiably. I saw the video on this discussion forum yesterday and I didn't see why anyone would get riled over that correction because even though Olumide is from powerful aristocratic lineages from Benin and Usen (a town founded by Oranmiyan's older brother from Ile Ife (Ufe or Uhe), he is not a "son of the palace" as one of the long line of princes in the Benin kingdom. It was a slip of tongue or wrong choice of words. The Oba and Olumide ended on an amiable note. It wasn't a case of humiliation to discerning folks like me.

It was highly irresponsible for some bloggers, YouTubers, and some misguided supporters of the LP to twist what happened and begin to hurl insults.

The Federal government has flagged off the construction of section two of the Lagos -Calabar coastal highway project starting from Lekki Deep Seaport which is the border between Lagos and Ogun State.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi flagged off this when he led officials on an inspection tour of ongoing works on Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway and other road projects on the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Dangote Tax Credit Route, Eleko, among other axis.

Umahi who promised that each section would be given desired attention said about ten billion naira had so far been paid as compensation to owners of structures affected by the rights of way of the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway project.

He also said the construction of flyovers would commence first week of July and that the Federal Executive Council had given approval for the construction of the fifty six kilometres Sokoto-Badagry road.

Umahi who also inspected the Third Mainland Bridge said eighty percent of the road projects flagged off since the inception of the present administration on May twenty nine, 2023 had been completed.

Also speaking the Deputy Chief Whip and member, Senate Committee on Works, Peter Nwebonyi commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for a job weldone on ongoing works on road projects across the country and the completion of about three hundred and thirty road infrastructure since the Inception of his tenure.

That's pretty fast and impressive.

Here's hoping that the Calabar end of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will start in July or August 2024 as planned. A Delta State or Bayelsa State end of the Coastal Highway can also start simultaneously so as to be able to beat the 8 years deadline for the highway completion by a few months.

FamilyRe: 5 Reasons Some Wives Cheat On Their Husbands by Konquest:
Magicalsineros:
Before, once a young woman is going into marriage, it's a subconscious believe that her body is strictly for her husband alone, but over the years, the narrative has changed. Most husbands have abused this grace and so many men have pushed Their women to the wall, that today, the consciousness and sanctity of matrimonial bliss is gradually going into extinction.

In as much as I am not supporting cheating in a marriage where the man is good to his wife the following are my opinion

1. Lazy husband
When a woman is married to a lazy man who can't provide, always giving excuses and manipulative. He keeps pushing her to handle all the responsibilities. She has to pay all the bills all in the name of the man is jobless,
this particular wife will likely cheat on her man, because women generally love to see their men being the head that provides for the family.

2. Se.xaul Need
Some men are so clueless. You don't care about her feelings, during se.x, once you're satisfied, that's all. You don't even want to know if she is satisfied too.
This particular wife will definitely be longing for a day someone will make her feel it to the fullest. The person might not be you.

3. Companionship
It's generally proven, once you have someone you can tell everything to without feeling ashamed or scared, the possibility of you comfortably having se.x with him is very high and if that person is not your husband, then you have cheated.

That's why most people ended up sleeping with their bestie or childhood friends.
When there's too much empty space in a marriage where the both parties don't experience that companionship, once she find it in someone else, either at work or anywhere, she will cheat on her husband.

4. Ungrateful human
This particular wife, does not keep record of any good thing her man do to her. She's an ungrateful human, she's selfish and a bad person. No matter who you are to her, no matter what you do, she will always focus on herself alone.

5. Revenge
The man is cheating and hurting her. So, to have her sanity back, she cheat back.
Some women cheat on their husbands to feel better from feeling of hurt and bitterness from their husband's bad behavior. Some will go as far as sleeping with your best friend, house boy, gate men, your Boss at work to make you feel disrespectful.
Evil they said brings evil. Good beings good as well

Add yours, so we can keep learning
If you are tired of your spouse's ways and have become attracted to another man, then leave the relationship instead of cheating right in his house or right under his nose. If he finds out, there's a fifty-fifty chance that he'll get physically violent and commit murder. Most men prefer that you ASK for a divorce with concrete reasons than to cheat on them with another man (who was probably a woman's first love back in high school or college) which they find deeply humiliating because men are very territorial.

Don't try to eat your cake and still have it... Just get gone. Period.

The journey was tough. I picked and sorted pepper and tomatoes, made bread in bakeries, did road construction labour, worked in a tobacco company as a loader, worked as a an assembler in a home and office furniture selling store, worked in sorting and labelling aeroplane parts, worked in a confectionary company, worked in a printing press.

As I settled down and got in the system, I followed the same principle of working and developing and adding skills and career value to myself such that organisation's are the ones looking for me.

I completed my Masters, got a Post Graduate Certification and working on a PhD in that field. Got proffessional certifications in three different fields such as Software Project Management, Insurance Claims Management and Human Resources Management.

As it is I am learning new skills that can one create an automated cash flow for me and another where I do one or twice a year deals.

My target is that in the next three years, i dont have to do 9-5 office work anymore .So that it will give me plenty of free time to travel anywhere in the world at anytime that I want no matter the cost.

May God continue to guide my steps.
I stumbled upon this thread after the OP quoted one of my posts on another thread.

What jumped right at me is that your life path further emphasizes the popular maxim that "there's NO food for the lazy man" and it's our thoughts, feelings, actions, that create our reality or RESULTS in the physical world.

I must commend you for sharing your profound experiences over the years with these youngsters and indeed anyone who has an open mind here.

Cheers.

I'm learning Japanese RN and some of their words were also drawn from English.
Chocolate - Chocolato
Lion - Raion
Personal Computer - Parsocon
Wifi - Waifai

Even English also gets it's words from other languages.

Also, remember that other languages have "Bodies" keeping their words up-to-date, while most African languages don't.

That's why I'll always push indegenous language to be our official languages.
And then create "Bodies" to help keep them alive.

I'm learning Igbo next and at the same time perfecting my Yoruba after I'm done with Nihongo(Japanese)
The bolded is VERY true. Just a few years ago, the "linguistic body" that oversees the French language sought to reduce the number of English-derived words in French language and stick to more French words in origin. That's pure linguistic standardization.

Wonderful insight and some things are noted for future reference.

I decided not to mention the bar name for security purposes but I will make sure I express my displeasure next time I go there .
I'm glad you gained some deep insights from my original post to you.

I absolutely AGREE with your last paragraph. The management of that bar must be told what happened so that they will be guided next time NOT to allow any so-called Hypeman or guest comedian to make highly irresponsible and insulting comments all in the name of cracking silly ethnic jokes in a multicultural social setting.

Just as I told that young comedian at Sheraton Hotel over 15 years ago, who respectfully admitted to me his social blunder in cracking that insidious and condescending ethnic joke targeted at Yorubas is the way all others must be approached till they STOP. I also once read within the last 10 years complaints by the Muslims that some of these same comedians were denigrating Muslims by using Islamic names that have meanings to crack jokes that portrayed them as illiterates and poor people. They were told to stop using names such as Kafilat, Muyibat, Kafayat, etc, to crack silly jokes.

Others reading this NL thread too will learn NOT to taunt others or do the kind of thing that Hypeman did at the Ajah bar you went to again because Ajah is right on Yoruba soil with Yoruba traditional rulers, so that kind of inappropriate joke was unacceptable.

Cheers.

Philosopher1979:
You thoughts are not well developed. I will help you
1. The issue is that African culture is Animistic. Animism is the belief that the world consists of spirits that is why we sometimes attribute everything to witchcraft.
2. There is still some knowledge in African culture. For example the ifa oracle is a mathematical system. Also our ancient herbalists have discovered a lot of useful herbs scientists are working on.
3. You have a point ad we are not a thinking race. If you observe the West thinks for us and we copy them blindly. We seem unable to evol6an ideology of our own. From solar technology to nudity they do all the thinking for us.
4. As per language some science textbooks have been written in yoruba, igbo and other African languages. That deepness of thought will be created when textbooks are written I. AFRICAN languages.
5. There are some deep thoughts in African culture like Arodon which means nothing in yoruba or umodoye which means knowledge turns into understanding.
6. Nice try. Generally we Africans are very shallow minded and lack deep thinkers. We just copy and paste the white man
7. Language is important in understanding history. When you wipe put language you wipe out thousands of years of history. That is a problem.
8. Africas past is full of a lot of useful knowledge if you see beyond the surface. OK what of the great Wall of Benin made by africsns that's technology
7. Nice try but there are better solutions to what u are saying
True that... Succinctly stated
Foreign AffairsRe: Senegal Joins Oil-producing Countries, Begins Production by Konquest: 4:27am On Jun 18, 2024
Islie:
Senegal has officially joined the list of oil-producing countries in West Africa, marking a significant milestone in the country’s economic history.

Last week, the country began producing oil for the first time, with the Sangomar deep-water project aiming to produce 100,000 barrels of oil per day.

“This is a historic day, a key milestone for Woodside and Senegal,” said Australian energy giant, Woodside while highlighting the significance of the achievement.

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye assured the nation that profits from the sale of the country’s oil and gas would be well managed, stating, “We have set up an inter-generation fund for the benefit of your generation and those to come.”

Thierno Ly, the general manager of the national oil company, Petrosen, echoed the president’s sentiments, saying, “We have never been so well positioned for opportunities for growth, innovation and success in the economic and social development of our nation.”

The move to begin oil production is expected to generate billions of dollars for Senegal and boost the country’s economy. However, government’s decision to renegotiate oil and gas contracts has been met with some skepticism from investors.

Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, a key figure in the president’s election campaign, justified the move, saying, “We are the ones who promised that we would renegotiate the contracts; and we are going to do it. We have started already.”

He added that contracts signed by previous administrations were “unfavourable” to the country.

As Senegal begins this new era of oil production, its government remains committed to ensuring that the nation benefits from its natural resources.

Whoa! Senegal's 100,000 barrels per day of crude oil production from the deep offshore is very significant.
