Ottyemmy2: The Black Bra Confraternity: Myths And Truths...Black Bra is a female confraternity and as it is with many other groups, this sorority was formed in response to their male confraternities. See more details about Black Bra Confraternity below.
At the initial stage, the members were girlfriends of the male cult members.
The history of cultism can be traced back to 1952 when a group of seven students formed the Pyrates Confraternity. Interestingly, Africa first Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka was a member of that group.
At the time, the pioneer members of the Pyrates called themselves the “Magnificent Seven” the vision of the group at that time was to differentiate themselves from the hypocritical and affluent middle-class folks that dominated the University of Ibadan campus at that time. The motto adopted was “Against all conventions”
This was the only cult group in existence for almost two decades. When the other confraternities like , Eiye and Vikings began to spring up, they were initially old members of the Pyrates Confraternity.
Back to the Black Bra Confraternity, we have highlighted some core features of Black Bra members as well as what it takes to be initiated.
Black Bra Confraternity: Dress code As the name implies, the Black Bra Confraternity members wear black clothing. Usually, their bra or underpants are usually black in colour.
ALSO READ: NTEL Data Plans, Voice Plans, Subscription Prices & Store Locations Black Bra Confraternity: Appearance You can almost tell a sorority member by her appearance. Their rugged and wild look is one feature that can’t be overlooked. Usually, this mien is quite intentional as it tends to create fear or intimidate those around. Also, members tend to live a life of heavy drug and alcohol use which can be observed from their speech and mannerisms.
Black Bra Confraternity: Body marks People can have body marks due to accidents or other unsavoury events but this is different with a confraternity member. Usually, they get their marks or scars from their initiation or from clashes with members of rival cult groups.
Black Bra Confraternity: Identity Confraternity members usually have double lives. Their movement and actions are often suspicious. If you know one, she’ll probably tell lies to cover up her movement and activities. Also, it is quite common for them to have a double identity. For example, the real name of a Black Bra member often differs from what she’s called by her friends and fraternity members.
Black Bra Confraternity: Language Cultists often have a specific language which they use in communication. They use these signs and codes to pass information to their fellow confraternity members. This prevents outsiders from decoding their movement or actions and to keep things secret where possible.
ALSO READ: First Bank of Nigeria Internet Banking: How to Get Started Black Bra Confraternity: Weapons Confraternity members often seek ways to protect themselves. It is not uncommon to see them in possession of guns, knives or axes. They may also fortify themselves with amulets or charms.
Black Bra Confraternity: Prostitution Fraternity members are often involved in prostitution where they offer their body for money.
Apart from the characteristics of a Black Bra member, the initiation process is another interesting thing about the group.
Black Bra Confraternity: Initiation One of the conditions prior to joining the Black Bra cult is being deflowered or sex romp on the day of initiation. This occurs in the presence of other members of the cult.
Also, the newbie will be expected to make a cut in her thumb. After which, she will cook a special kind of soup with this blood which she will drink along with her clan.
As it is with other cults, once an individual has been confirmed a Black Bra member, she cannot leave until death. However, the individual can leave to another clan as long she’s sure of protection by this clan.
DNA forensic tests and finger prints can easily help to unravel these kinds of crimes. It's necessary to upgrade the forensic units of the police so as to crack these vicious sex crimes.
budaatum: Ghanaians began leaving from when Shagari came to power in 1979, and I began losing teachers from then on. What worsened it was free education was introduced in the old Western Region area at the same time, and without proper preparation, the few teachers left had to be shared with newer schools which further exacerbated the teacher shortage.
Nigeria is big, so not everyone must have necessarily had the same experience or at the same time.
@Budaatum,
Indeed, you succinctly stated the FACTS here. It was fun though having a very cosmopolitan experience as that gave me my best and unbiased understanding of who Ghanaians are. I'm still in touch with my Ghanaian school buddy back in Nigeria (whose mum taught us) from the Ga ethnic group as of today. He was indeed very brilliant and is based in New York and works with an investment firm on Wall Street.
alphaNomega: Ghana-must-go was a blame-game tactics used by politicians to avoid accountability.
politicians will fan the flames of blame to innocent groups as the cause of their poor decision making. Tell me, after the Ghanaians left, did Nigeria get any better?
the same tactic is still used today, and now the crazy politicians have turned the blame inwards. Blaming one tribe or religious group for their failed policies. History repeats itself and Nigerians never learn.
The expulsions were NOT a blame game tactics. For those of us who were alive as of 1983, we know full well that there were many Ghanaians who had flooded into Nigeria illegally with any papers of residence. This was a big security risk and they had to be expelled and the economy was incidentally slumping due to the global recession of the early 1980s caused by the increase in the interest rate of the United States.
As I earlier stated, I had 3 Ghanaian teachers who were NOT affected by the 1983 GMG because they had legitimate stay in Nigeria.
budaatum: The event ruined the Nigerian education system that at the time relied on science and maths teachers from Ghana.
Upon their expulsion many of us lost some very good teachers. It hurt.
All of the Ghanaian teachers that taught me were NOT affected by the 1983 expulsions. It's majorly those who came into Nigeria without proper work permits that got expelled. All the other expats from the UK, USA, Jamaica, India, Bangladesh, and several countries who came work and to become teachers and lecturers in Nigeria were NO affected.
EmmyMaestro: In 1983, an important event happened in West Africa called “Ghana Must Go.” This event was about the mass expulsion of immigrants from Nigeria, especially Ghanaians. In the 1970s, Nigeria had a strong economy because of its booming oil industry. This attracted many people from neighboring countries, including Ghana, who came looking for better jobs and lives.
However, by the early 1980s, Nigeria’s economy started to struggle because oil prices dropped. This led to high unemployment and social problems. Nigerians began to feel frustrated and blamed the immigrants for taking their jobs. In response, the Nigerian government, led by President Shehu Shagari, decided to expel all undocumented immigrants. They gave them just two weeks to leave the country. This sudden decision affected up to two million people, most of whom were Ghanaians.
The term “Ghana Must Go” became famous during this time. It refers to the many Ghanaians who were forced to leave Nigeria quickly. They often carried their belongings in big, checkered plastic bags. These bags became a symbol of this difficult period and are still known today as “Ghana Must Go” bags.
The expulsion had significant effects on both Nigeria and Ghana. In Ghana, the return of so many people made life harder. Ghana was already facing economic problems and political instability, so the sudden influx of returnees added more pressure. Many people struggled to find jobs and homes.
In Nigeria, the expulsion created tension between Nigerians and Ghanaians. It damaged the relationship between the two countries for many years. The event showed how difficult it can be to handle migration and economic challenges in a fair way. It also highlighted the need for better policies to manage such situations without causing harm to people.
This is a very inflammatory live radio broadcast from London by that mongrel called Nnamdi which was made during the End SARS protests of 2020 while encouraging the burning down Bola Tinubu's hotel and other property in Lagos.
HydraFeeds: I was at a bar to relax on the island yesterday night . The hypeman(obviously an Igbo) got to the stage ,took the Mic and began to yarn dust.
The Igbos stay in Lekki ,Vi,Ajah and other posh areas while the Yorubas stay in Epe ,Olokonla, Sangotedo, Ikorodu etc .
The Igbos drive Benz, Lamborghini,Lexus while the Yorubas drive Korope,Molue.
The Igbos drink Hennessy,Azul while the Yorubas drink Shepe, Seaman.
After saying these rubbish ,he observed the guest countenance and said nobody should attack him after the show .
After a while ,he declared that the Igbos present are broke ,perhaps to retrace his steps and appeal to his Yoruba guests.
In my understanding, such statements are false, tribalistic and capable of leading to violence.
Such delicate matter should not be considered as joke because a lie repeated several times can be seen as truth ,it can set the course for violence in which the starter might not be able to contain it.
First to do no dey pain ,when people respond accordingly to such irresponsible statement, that's when they switch to victim mode and call others bigot and that they are after them .
Just a quick one. Ajah is not located on an Island. Ajah is located on Lekki Peninsula which is NOT completely surrounded by water. An Island such as Lagos Island, Ikoyi, Ilashe, and Victoria Island (Iruland) are COMPLETELY surrounded by water, hence are called islands. That's out of the way.
So, I would have liked it if you called out the the name of the so-called Hypeman who made that irresponsible statement and also the bar name so that people would learn to vet or screen out those crappy and highly inflammatory jokes that offend the human sensibilities in multicultural settings before coming on stage to perform. The areas where posh gated estates exist are built on leased lands owned by the Yoruba indigenes who have Oba's (or traditional kings) ruling all over those areas. At the end of the lease period, the properties will be DEMOLISHED and the leased lands will be taken back by the Yoruba indigenes and/or the Lagos State government depending on who they got the lands from if they refuse to RENEW the lease. Many Yoruba folks in Nigeria and in the Diaspora own mansions in those posh areas as well.
I've listened in the past to some of these uninformed comedians mostly from the East of Nigeria and sometimes the South of Southern states making unguarded or unmeasured jokes about Yoruba folks (who are a major African ethnic group with more than 50 million people in population and are indigenous to 3 to 4 major West African countries of Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, and Ghana) that are patently false and insulting to the sensibilities, and after reading your post, I clearly AGREE that the comments the so-called Hypeman made is highly irresponsible! The fact that he got a negative reaction from the audience at the Ajah bar shows that he himself realized his errors in his attempt to inject humor which ended up sounding insulting.
I was at an international conference at Sheraton Hotel in Maryland over fifteen years ago and the young male comedian who came on stage cracked the usual stereotypical dry joke in a mix of pidgin English and English about Yorubas "who too dey fear" and Ibos "who no dey fear" and he got some murmurs and negative feedback from the crowd. His accent sounded very funny so some guests laughed it off. At the end of the program, I saw the young male comedian (who was then in his twenties) and we both talked. He told me he is from Anambra State and I told him NOT to ever crack that kind of ethnic joke that was insulting and condescending because it would put off those who might want to use his services later. He bowed respectfully to me and apologized for cracking that silly joke. His accent was funny though and he was indeed good with some of his joke deliveries. These ethnic stereotypes must NEVER be allowed at public events or anywhere at all. They start off as false beer parlor stories or family gists by some bigoted parents from homes before spreading to schools and the larger societies.
There are CULTURAL differences worldwide and many ethnic groups detest people who are VERY loud and NOT humble, thereby leading to a culture clash. If a person is new in a place which has a different ethnic group or language from yours, learn to study there sensitivities so that you do offend them with your words, actions, and inactions. This is what happened in the case of that young male comedian at Sheraton Hotel back in the day. He was relatively new to Lagos and Yoruba folks (like other migrant new comedians or Hypemen and did not understand that making those kinds of ethnic jokes in social or business meetings was highly offensive and politically incorrect.
Even Chinua Achebe wrote in his last infamous book before he passed on about the Ibos and their NOISY EXHIBITIONISM and their LACK of HUMILITY and QUIETNESS as seen in the excerpt from Achebe's book below. One of them here on page one of this thread was irresponsibly saying that it's the normal Ibo behavior but when you make narcissistic or supremacist comments or stereotypical taunts at social or business meetings in a multiethnic setting, you end up offending the sensibilities of others.
Igbos Are Noisy Exhibitionists & They Lack Humility And Quietness - China Achebe
“I will be the first to concede that the Igbo as a group is NOT without its FLAWS. Its success can and did carry deadly penalties: the dangers of hubris, overweening pride, and thoughtlessness, which invite envy and hatred or, even worse, than can obsess the mind with material success and dispose it to all kinds of crude SHOWINESS. There is no doubt at all that there is a STRAND in contemporary Igbo behavior that can OFFEND by its NOISY exhibitionism and DISREGARD for humility and quietness.” - Chinua Achebe

Moi moi a versatile food in Nigeria; it pairs well with akamu, acha pudding, garri, jollof rice and sometimes Quaker oat; it is usually prepared by steaming. Instead of steaming your moi moi, you can also bake it in the oven by placing your loaf pan or moi moi bowls in a bigger loaf pan filled with water and then bake at 350F for 35- 40 minutes or until the liquid dries in the moi moi.
Moi moi can be wrapped in banana leaves or with ewe, this is the traditional way of making moi moi, however, if you live where there is no access to moi moi leaves, you can use containers, foil papers or plates to make your moi moi, these work well for this recipe too. Below are the ingredients you need for moi moi. See the Video above for the short video on how to make moi moi.
Ingredients for moi moi
1. 2 cups of beans (black eyed beans) 2. 1 frozen mackerel, cut into medium sizes 3. 3 bell peppers (tatashe) 4. 4 medium tomatoes, optional 5. 3 scotch bonnet peppers (Ata Rodo) 6. ½ cup of crayfish, rinsed 7. 2 medium onions 8. 1 teaspoon curry powder 9. 4 eggs (2 hard boiled and two raw eggs) 10. 1 teaspoon thyme 11. 2 stock cubes 12. 3 tablespoons cooking oil 13. Salt to taste 14. Moi moi containers
Steps for Making Moi Moi
1. Add beans into a wide bowl and top up with cool water, leave beans to stay overnight or for 6 hours to absorbed water and easy to peel. Use a mortar and pestle to gently peel the beans or use hand to peel the beans skin by rubbing beans against your palms. Add water to the beans and pass it over a colander to strain out the peeled skin, add clean water to the beans to rinse properly.
2. Cut bell peppers and onions into smaller sizes. Season and cook the mackerel to extract some rich stock after that take out the bones and use a fork to shred the fish into smaller. Place 2 stock cube in a bowl with alt, use the hot fish stock to dissolve it and set aside. Boil eggs and slice them into circular shapes. Oil inside of the moi moi bowls/pans with a little oil or butter and set everything aside.
3. Combine beans, red bell pepper, onion, crayfish and ½ cup of water in a blender, blend until the barter turns out very smooth. Pour beans into a wide bowl, season with the dissolved stock cube, salt, curry powder, thyme and stir very well until well incorporate. 4. Add the fish stock to the beans to adjust the consistency (it should be neither watery nor too thick).
5. Pour the mixed bean barter into your moi moi bowls half way full; don’t full the bowls to the brim because moi moi tends to swell as it cooks.Combine the hard-boiled eggs and the shredded fish to the moi moi in the bowls.
6. Add about two cups of water to a wide pot, place the moi moi in the pot of water and place a lid over the pot with a foil paper wrapped over it. This will help to trap in air while the moi moi is steaming.
7. Place the moi moi on heat to cook for 20 minutes ; exchange the position of the bowls if you can by taking the moi moi bowls below to the top and the ones at the top to the bottom of the pot so that the heat get distributed evenly to each of the bowls. Also, add small quantity of water at time while cooking the Moi Moi if needed.
8. After cooking moi moi for another extra 20 minutes, insert a fork or tooth pick inside it to check if the liquid is dried, ones it comes out dry it means moi moi is done. Take the pot off heat, moi moi is cooked serve warm with rice or pap.
Bump.
Moin Moin wrapped in leaves looks and tastes mad sick. Nice video though.
illicit: You never eat moimoi elewe be dat (the one wrapped in leaf)
Or moimoi elemi meje (7 spirit moimoi = moimoi with diced beef, fish, chicken, egg, Orisirisi etc )
Okpa tastes bland
✌️
Moin Moin elewe and Moin Moin elemi meje (7 spirits Moin Moin) on that fried rice OR smoky party Jollof rice infused with bay leaves. ~~~~ ~~~~ By the way, the last person in the video vox pop below from 2018 said with total confidence that Moin Moin is "beans flake" in English language. That dude cracked me up.
9gerian: Okpa has high glycemic index (ie spikes blood sugar) while moin doesn’t. Hence moin moin is healthier, and there’s no way okpa can best a very healthy food like moin moin except for diabetics.
Negroid001: I enjoy both, i don't understand what the comparison is all about. They've even dubbed me okpa man at my place of work. I'm yoruba and i love okpa very much, some of my ibo colleagues told me they've never tasted it.
Bump.
I'm curious here. Where do you buy your okpa which is made from Bambara nuts? I've never tasted that before. There must be something in the way each individual person prepares it that makes other folks (including some Ibos) on this thread to say that it's largely bland but only fills the stomach. A few like you say it's okay.
OboOlora: I have been living in London for over 6years but never been to this Nigerian restaurant.
'Demo, make we go chop for this new place for Orpington. Heard their amala and gbegiri is mad fam' my friend said.
As omo ogbon, I quickly had my bathe, wore a lovely versace shirt on a nameless pair of jeans from Primark and my jordans to complete the roadman (but with a touch of finesse) look.
My friend picked me up in his 2023 GLB and off we went to this place.
Cut long story short, we sha entered, got seated, made our orders and just silently chatted away while we stylishly observed around while Nigerians in there made noise and nodded to the tune of Burna playing in the background.
Then something caught my attention, a lady in puffer jacket (sign that showed she came with public transport) sat beside a guy (assumably her BF) but consistently stared in our direction. I jerked my friend and he also noticed.
Ok, no time to check time. Amala sha came and we started eating with poise while checking our phones and still catching some glimpse of the 'open admirer'. As we were going to order take away, her assumed BF stood up to go to the restroom and alas, she stood up, came to my seat and dropped a piece of paper.
I quickly hid it beside the glass of water in my front and watched her waltz back to her seat casually while I used the opportunity to also assess her backside (shey omo yi le gba doggy bi Bolanle Peckham).
We paid and left for our usual lounge in Old Kent road to step down the amala with some cold lager and that was when I had the chance to check the note and it read, 'U LOOK SO CUTE, CALL ME 07458******* (Mide).
'Oh wow, baba. U don hit jackpot o. Omo yen ma sha e bajebaje' my friend said. I just smiled sheepishly like an army general who just saw a civilian in camo.
After all the calls and chats, we sha agreed to have lunch at a McDonalds close to her house. NJi story ba bere eyin fans mi.
This girl began to narrate how she came here on student visa. Borrowed money to pay school fees, accommodation issues, now staying with a guy that uses her as a sex machine etc.
Oya pele baby, but man here ain't got any better plans for you, you know.
Having framed empathy (with plenty eiyahs like Nigerians like to hear), I told her to follow me to finish the conversation and also drop her off. 'Ha Noooooo, you can't drop me off. The guy I stay with is very jealous and I don't want him to chase me out except you can house me if he does' She said. No baby, no housing option here, but sare gbe oko mi senu my dear.
'U know I don't do this on a normal day but I just like u as a person' She said. 'Me too, but pls make sure you swallow' I responded.
We sha finished and I just gave her £30 cos I was moved by her story.
Now this is just one of numerous stories I have experienced and heard in the last 2/3years especially with this post-pandemic JAPA crew. Is it because most of them relocated as the 1st travel experience? Is it because the weather is so cold people can't stay sexless? Is it because they are broke and almost jobless? Or is it just another hookup pandemic being brought from Nigeria to UK?
That was a profound read... Where is the source of the post here OR is this an excerpt from a novel?
"No baby, no housing option here, but sare gbe oko mi senu my dear."
Now, the bolded was hilarious.
In reality though, folks especially women have to do a lot of due diligence before and when moving into another country. A SWOT analysis is needed to know about the housing situation, employment market and the jobs available in each jurisdiction so that you don't get stranded and take to sleeping with random men to survive. Each country from the UK, Canada, Australia, and the United States, etc, all have their regional positives and negatives. Be wise. Period
Naijaryder: Have you ever been to one of the most dangerous cities in Europe? If you plan on heading to any of these places on the list, just beware of the dangers that they pose. Whether they have high rates of violent crimes, organized crime, or are a war-torn city, just ensure you don’t travel here alone. Many of these places do have a beautiful side to them, but just don’t be fooled by the façade of historic sites and memorials.
1. Brussels, Belgium
Brussels appears to be the European center for harassment. The large concentration of Muslim citizens alongside the native Brussels means that it was inevitable that the two cultures would clash. Brussels is known for the ethnic tensions, harassment of people who appear to belong to a specific ethnic group, and drunk violence. If you’re a lone woman travelling through Brussels, just watched out for the harassment by men and large groups. The increase in numbers of beatings due to drunk violence is still on the rise, so caution should be exercised around bars. The residents in Brussels definitely like to drive.
2. Dublin, Ireland
The locals of Dublin report the large numbers of assaults by youth on a daily basis. Young people becoming involved in drug crimes, harassment, assaults and robberies. According to some locals, children as young as 10 years old can easily get wrapped up in serious crimes in this city. Gangs are recruiting young people before they have even hit their 20s. This increase in youth crime is causing problems for the older citizens in a moral sense, which is largely the reason the crimes are never reported. Stick to a group of people, and don’t annoy the local youths.
3. Glasgow, Scotland
According to the BBC, Glasgow was ranked the UK’s most violent area in 2013. The high rates of homicide and violent crime pushed this city to the least safe in the country with the largest ratio of homicide to population in the country. It is not just this that presents a problem, but the continuing problems with knife crime and gang crime add to the fear of uncontrolled violence in the city. If you want to visit Glasgow, try to avoid venturing out in the early hours of the morning. Alcohol consumption contributes to a number of violent crimes in this city, so don’t get too close to strangers.
4. Grozny, Russia
According to the UN in 2003, Grozny is the most destroyed city in the world. As a result, there are a number of unexploded land-mines that pose threats to the typical tourist. It is not this, however, that causes various governments to warn their citizens not to visit Grozny. It is the enormous numbers of abductions that take place. Rebels often take tourists hostage, so as long as you try to blend in with the common people, you should be safe. These abductions are performed when the tourist is at their most vulnerable – asleep. Beware of the rebels.
5. Istanbul, Turkey
Many are unsure what it is about Istanbul that feels so unsafe, but the feeling is definitely there. Frequent crimes, such as robbery, muggings, scams and harassment, are what add to Istanbul’s fear factor. It is mainly lone women who are the victims of these common crimes, especially harassment. Despite these less violent crimes, the U.S. State Department advises to practice caution when travelling to Istanbul because of the recent violent attacks across Turkey and the increasing threat of terrorist attacks.
6. London, UK
The borough of Westminster in London has the highest crime rate in the entire nation. Mainly due to the enormous concentration of people and tourists, the most in the country, this is understandable. As with most cities, the high concentration of people causes aggression, impatience and inevitably, a major increase in crime. Muggings, stabbings, rapes, and other violent crimes are a common occurrence in London. Although it is classed as ‘Britain’s most dangerous university town’, just keep in mind the huge diversity within London. Just don’t travel alone at night, especially down the winding streets of London.
7. Malmo, Sweden
Sweden’s third biggest city, Malmo, boasts the highest crime rate in the country. With the rate of immigration increasing rapidly, there is an ongoing ethnic war among the large number of groups. Each wanting to be the dominant ethnicity, it means that force is used frequently to try to takeover. These immigrants are inflicting violence, rape and burnings upon the city of Malmo and the existing citizens. One citizen even posted that five people were killed within one week after the New Year celebrations, and all were innocent of any wrong-doing. This is definitely a place to avoid for now.
8. Marseilles, France
Marseilles’ place on this list is not for large statistics of murder or attacks, but for the deeply rooted organized crime in the city. The flourishing drug trade and human trafficking taking place throughout Marseilles renders this a dangerous place to be. Organized crime inflicts terror among the residents of the French city, and turf wars on the streets see bloody violence spread beyond criminals. It is not just organized violence that terrorizes Marseilles. Armed robberies, muggings and other sporadic violent acts prove that violence spreads. Watch your back in southern France, and avoid messing with the wrong people.
9. Manchester, UK
As with most English cities, Manchester is safe enough to explore in the center during the day, but just avoid the council estates. The risk of robberies and assaults rockets when you venture into the many council estates, especially after dark. In recent years, there has also been a large increase in riots. Violence plagues the city as these rowdy northerners erupt into aggressive lashes after a few drinks at the clubs. As long as you stick to the center during the light hours and retreat home after dark, you’ll survive Manchester! (Just watch out for the drunks).
10. Mitrovica, Kosovo
One of the most dangerous places in Europe, the violent tensions between the Serb population and Albanian population are definitely something to hide from. The brutal conflicts between the two groups are still a huge problem today, with a number of NATO troops present still and attempting to protect the peace in the city. Even though a wall separates the two demographics residing in Mitrovica, it does not prevent the violent attacks throughout the city. The division is seen in all areas of life, and if you visit the city, choose your side carefully and don’t get too involved.
11. Moscow, Russia
The UK Government claims there is a high threat from terrorism in Moscow. Attacks have recently occurred quite frequently as a result of the Ukraine crisis in the past year and the situation in Moscow is escalating as the years go on. Violent street crimes are also extremely frequent, so beware. Political rallies also occur relatively frequently because of its corrupt political system. However, it is mainly the police that you should exercise caution with. Their frequent use of excessive force to dispel political rallies renders Moscow a dangerous city to be if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
12. Naples, Italy
Thought of by Italians as the crime capital of Italy, Naples’ strong mafia link inflicts fear into the ordinary citizens of this beautiful city. Even a guidebook of Naples warns that most people that approach tourists are either out to rob or attack you. With this city holding the trophy for the most crime in Italy, its reputation for danger is clearly well-earned. Naples is the ‘proud’ home of the Camorra, a criminal organization that was established in the 18th century. In the past decade, it has seen a few hundred street-killings in broad daylight – not a gang you want to mess with.
13. Nottingham, UK
In 2004, Panorama revealed how the yobs rule the streets and city center at night. What happened to this treasured old city? A recent influx of ‘chavs’ is causing problems for the more respectable citizens. Along with the spitting and cursing, these ‘chavs’ are responsible for an increase in muggings and stabbings in late night Nottingham. The schools seem to be producing and promoting this ‘chav culture’ by not dealing with the problem. Perhaps this is the reason for the increasing numbers of gangs in the area. Watch out for the chavs, they’ll ‘av ya.
14. Rotterdam, Netherlands
The most dangerous city in the Netherlands, Rotterdam is famous for massive numbers of property crime and violence. Burglary and motor vehicle theft are very frequent over in Rotterdam, and it is usually coupled with violence. The increasing ‘youth culture’ in Rotterdam is contributing to the amount of violence in the city, with many committing crimes such as murder, muggings and assaults. The Netherlands are struggling to keep a lid on the violence in Rotterdam as the crime rates in most other cities are declining. Many blame the increase in ethnic diversity and youth culture, but what is it about Rotterdam that makes crime so appealing to them?
15. Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina
Sarajevo is still not recovered from war, and has a long way to go in terms of reconstruction. According to one Sarajevo citizen, there is a large problem with pickpockets, and often a number of teargas attacks on various bars in the summer. Although not particularly dangerous, any form of retaliation is not recommended. Petty thieves and pickpockets thrive in Sarajevo, and the crime rate is still pretty high. Although it is mainly non-violent crime, there are still pretty high numbers of violent crime. Sarajevo isn’t the most dangerous place to be, but precaution should always be exercised.
16. Sofia, Bulgaria
According to the U.S. Department of State, Bulgaria rates ‘high’ for overall crime. With robbery being an enormous problem in Sofia, it is important to always practice caution with money and bank cards in the city. Muggings, burglaries, pickpocketing and fraud are all enormous theft problems in the city (especially for tourists, so keep your eye out!) It’s not only robbery to be wary of in this city, but organized crime and terrorism is becoming increasingly frequent. Keep your wits about you, and keep your possessions closely guarded.
17. Tbilisi, Georgia
As has always been in Eastern Europe, the violent events in Tbilisi are frequently met with force to dispel the risky crowds. The use of excessive force is often deemed necessary to remove the threat of further uncontrolled violence in the city. The bombings in Tbilisi in recent years have left scars on the suburbs, but the police are still working to stop any more bombing attempts. The problem in this city is that the excessive use of force simply means some non-violent political protests are often met with harsh force by the police. Just don’t get involved in these protests, and you should be fine.
18. Tirana, Albania
The Albanian Mafia is possibly the most famous in the world. Controlling roughly 40% of the world’s drug trafficking business, they hold enormous power. As most mafias do, they inflict violence on all their victims, whether deserved or not. Just be careful who you speak to in this city, you don’t want to get on the wrong side of this group. Travelers who have been to Tirana have warned that the only way to stay safe in this city is to blend in as an ordinary citizen. As long as you don’t stand out, then you should be able to avoid being targeted in this proud city.
19. Yerevan, Armenia
Post-Soviet Armenia has been generally peaceful; however, in recent years there has been a sharp rise in political violence, particularly the incident of 2008. Despite these political problems, it is not what makes this city a dangerous place to be. Yerevan’s reputation for domestic violence has surfaced in the last few years. Although Yerevan officials tend not to discuss it, domestic violence is a huge problem in the city. It was said in 2008 that three out of ten women suffered from domestic violence, but this is thought to be more as most were not willing to talk about the abuse.
Bump.
#18. Albanian mafia controls 40 percent of ALL drug traffickings worldwide.
That's an impressive Airbnb (with exquisite recess lightings, ensuite bedrooms and more within a gated estate located in St. Ann, Jamaica. A great place for the holidays.
NairaOcean: Two petty thieves found themselves in an unusual situation after being apprehended for stealing from a local convenience store. Rather than facing immediate arrest, the two were coerced into slapping each other as part of a public shaming orchestrated by security personnel.
Goodvibes007: It was never their property to begin with. Same way the Nazis were pained after losing Paris lol.
You are right. Below is from the book sunset in Biafria by an Ikwerre solder that served in the War - Elechi Amadi.
It was indeed a liberation.
Yes, that VERY revealing book was written by the Ikwere icon and writer, Captain Elechi Amadi (rtd) who voluntarily became a member of the 3rd Marine Commando of the Nigerian Army after he was rescued by Nigerian Federal troops from prison confinement of the invading secessionist rebels.
I've read the book by Elechi Amadi and it revealed a very moving real history and showed the negative power of greed and man's inhumanity to man as exemplified by what those secessionists did to Ikweres and others. These things are still going on though in different degrees due to human greed. Only those who have mastered themselves through emotional intelligence can detach themselves from this tendency to get into other people's space.

Indeed, these iconic men led by GOC (General Officer Commanding) 3MCDO Division Col Benjamin Adekunle were brave and they brought joy to the lands of those who had been invaded by the secessionist rebels who didn't bother to have a referendum done to determine whether the 5 million strong non-Ibos of the old South East wanted to be in an illegally created "secessionist state."
Historically, that liberation of Bonny Island, Calabar, and Port Harcourt by Federal troops of the 3rd Marine Commando of the Nigerian Army were widely celebrated, especially by Port Harcourt residents in archival Nigerian Civil War photographs I have seen. They were indeed very brave men (and the women too acted as members of the Nigerian Army medical corps).
Folks such as Isaac Jasper Adaka-Boro and Lt. Col Philemon Shande a Tiv officer and other minorities from what is now Benue State who were members of the 3rd Marine Commando (the Benue soldiers constituted MORE than half of the soldiers who took part in the capture of Aba and the fatal Operation OAU) must NOT be forgotten. The battle was very fierce on all battlefronts in the Niger Delta region and Ibo interior, but Nigerian Federal troops prevailed against the secessionist rebels.
The then Col Olusegun Obasanjo eventually took over the 3rd Marine Commando Division from Col. Benjamin Adekunle after the challenges faced during Operation OAU and he and his men successfully and gallantly captured the Ibo interior area of the rebel-held territories and brought the Nigerian Civil War to and end on January 12, 1970 exactly 30 months OR two-and-half years later!
Whalis: Not even Amaechi or the Obi Wali that fought for minorities right. Go and read what Amaechi told the Deji of Akure. He told him clearly he is Ikwerre and not Igbo. Amaechi has never claimed to be Igbo. He only said he has Igbo heritage. Myself I am not igbo but I have igbo heritage as my grandmother was igbo from Umuahia. This doesn't make me an igbo person but I have igbo heritage. Sabinus a small boy of 30 and a comedian. Is he the person Igbos are listening to? And he never said he is igbo. Duncan mighty only said his mum is Igbo and never claimed to be Igbo.
Whalis: Chief Emnanuel Iwuanyanwu is working very hard in futility to convert Ikwerre into Igbo. The name is Ikwerre a distinct ethnic group with her own history, culture, language and is recognised by the UN as such.Ikwerre is clearly positioned by God in the South South region of Nigeria and she is intimately associated with the Nigeria and recognised as a Distinct ethnic group. In 2018 Ikwerre language was celebrated to mark the UN day of indigenous language and Ikwerre participated in a conference of ethnic minorities of the World.Iwuanyanwu born and bred in Rumuokoro should rather claim to be an Ikwerre man instead of dragging Ijwerre to Igbo.Iwuanyanwu should listen to these few illustrations that make an Ikwerre man different from Igbo man .
1 the mode of dressing is quite different 2 The mode of dancing is different Ikwerre does waist dancing while the Igbo jumps 3 Ikwerre displays Owi (owu) masquerade while the Igbo man displays nmanwu 4 Ikwerre man displays wrestling, eregbu and obor which Igboman does not do. 5 in cuisine Ikwerre cooks with marine products namely: fish, periwinkle, oyster, igigororo etc while the Igbos eat insects, caterpillars, grasshoppers, termites etc. 6 Traditional marriage ceremonies are different. 7 Traditional rulership and succession in Ikwerre is quite different from that of the Igbos .While succession to traditional follows tradition the Igbos succession is by election. Ikwerre ancestry is traceble to Benin and Igbos have no ancestors even though they claim Israel.
God didn't make a mistake by positioning Ikwerre in South and the Igbos in South East.Iwuanyanwu's confusion arose from the mistake made by Lord Lugard in 1914 when he divided Nigeria into North East and West and no South according to the 4 cardinal points. If there was a South, the Ikwerre man would have nothing whatsoever to do with Igboman who would struggle in the East as Ikwerre man would have struggled and there would have been no meeting point. Ikwerre should be left as she has been fully established by God and will remain so established forever.
Elusive001: Why go this far? Did your current president forfeit $460,000 for drug related matter? We are talking of present tense and you are talking past participle.
You are NOT well informed. What you posted up there is criminal falsehood and defamation.
The United States NEVER charged the man who is the current President of Nigeria for being a drug baron. He was found innocent and ONLY forfeited $460,000 NOT for hard drugs related matters but for majorly tax-related issues which he didn't pay due to the fact that he returned to work in Nigeria as a technocrat with Mobil Nigeria (now ExxonMobil). The United States has zero-tolerance for drug barons and drug traffickers and they do NOT return monies to drug barons.
You seem NOT to even KNOW that the United States Federal authorities returned about $1.6 million USD back to Bola Tinubu's U.S. bank accounts in 1993 which I read about that same year in the media as well. If Tinubu was a drug baron, the United States would have long ago arrested him and had him kicked right into jail because he travels with his private jet every year to the United States where he has houses and investments. The U.S. even arrested a Latin American military dictator, General Manuel Antonio Noriega following an invasion of Panama on December 20, 1989 with slightly over 21,000 U.S Federal troops storming his country and returning him on January 3, 1990 to the United States for court trials because he was involved in hard drugs trafficking and money laundering into the U.S. with his cronies. In 1992, a U.S. court sentenced Manuel Antonio Noriega to 40 years in jail.
The repeated falsehoods against President Tinubu by some of you here online who are mostly ethnic bigots that he is a drug baron or cocaine sniffer, "bastard" and more, despite repeated warnings and enlightenments shows that it's a deliberate act to lower his Tinubu's image in the eyes of the public and will get you all into very deep trouble if President Bola Tinubu and his team finally react with the aid of the Intelligence agencies. Remember that the owner of this discussion forum is a Yoruba guy. All that it takes is to bring out all your digital footprints and you will get arrested for online criminal defamation and charged to court under the cyber crime laws. So, learn to be guided in your false and misleading accusations. Stick to the truth as much as possible, offer constructive advice but call Tinubu and others out if they have genuinely done anything wrong. That's the essence of democracy. A word is enough for the wise.
BeeBeeOoh: The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has revealed that drug barons are increasingly recruiting customs officers and officials of bonded terminals into their drug trafficking operations to evade security checks.
Adeniyi disclosed that the NCS had made significant progress in identifying such corrupt elements within and outside the service who facilitated the movement of drug consignments without proper examination.
Speaking at an event showcasing a major drug seizure at the Tin-Can Port, Adeniyi emphasised that those involved would face severe legal consequences.
During the weekend, Adeniyi displayed approximately N4.2bn worth of seized hemp, highlighting that the NCS was intensifying its scrutiny on the activities of “unscrupulous customs officers” to eliminate them from the system, noting that some indicted officers were found to be collaborating with bonded terminal operators to expedite the clearance of drug shipments.
He said, “I assure you that the service will soon name, shame and arrest those involved. The modus operandi of the syndicate involves moving imported containers from the port on transit without proper examination, diverting them to private premises instead of bonded warehouses.”
Until the death penalty is brought back in form of the firing squad, death by hanging, lethal injections or death by electric chair, this thing that has gone on for decades will NOT stop.
Kudos to NDLEA and the Customs for busting a lot of these crimes, but the weak legal punishments is the major problem with dealing with those criminals in the Nigerian hard drugs cartels. Period.

Eriokanmi: The network is so strong. It's from top-down. I pray it doesn't take time before Nigeria heals from these woes. What the NY Times said about this regime is mind-boggling.
The hard drugs cartels or networks have been in existence for decades now in Nigeria... Right from the late 1970s. This is why when the General Buhari/Tunde Idiagbon military regime introduced the death penalty for drug traffickers who were actually executed via firing squad, the thing died down. I remember it sent fear into the hard drug barons and traffickers. After General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida got into goverment following the military coup, the cases of drug barons and drug traffickers spiked again.
The death of Gloria Okon (a drug trafficker) in the late 1980s in detention while she was gearing up to reveal more info about her sponsors was a pointer to the fact that she had prominent backers. Dele Giwa's famous investigative Newswatch magazine was following leads on that Gloria Okon drug trafficking case and this is likely one of the reasons why he was killed via a parcel bomb delivered to his off Allen Avenue residence in Ikeja, Lagos in 1986.
Danisaint112: I'm going to give you a similar reply I just gave someone now.
You still don't get it do you? Their is a good amount of people who rained curses on him and his colleagues severally after returning from a ban.
You think if those people were to see or come in contact with his sister physically they will flow smoothly? Some might even get into a relationship with her with the intention to use and dump. Wisdom is profitable brother.
Those who reviewed their activities here did without showing their face or revealing their true account and for those who did, aren't popular.
But if you feel you are right, then you are right. No hard feelings.
It ain't about me getting it OR not here.
You didn't state some of the "key points" in this your current post like in the first one that I quoted. I agree to a large extent with you that some insidious people can try to harm us and our family members based on the digital trails or posts we leave behind on online platforms. But even here on NL, it's really a bit difficult to guess who amongst the Moderators or Supermods banned who. I've been a member of NL for a total of 19 years now since 2005, so, I know that it's only in the Travel Section that the Mod would warn you first or give you the opportunity to defend yourself and failure to do so within a specific time frame, you'll get banned.
I believe though that nothing will happen to Fergie's younger sis as he doesn't appear to be a wicked Mod and didn't give away too much info about his sister's FULL biodata here. Even Myndd (whose's a Supermoderator) that some rabid trolls and bigots try to blackmail here with all kinds of monikers created with free throwaway emails... I can attest to the fact that he does his work with diligence by simply closing some highly defamatory threads that trolls opened during the last Presidential election cycle in Nigeria and it's because of these and more that those creeps relentlessly attacked his personality because they just simply assumed that he is preventing them from achieving their aims of spreading falsehoods and propaganda.
In any event, you made a valid point about Internet security awareness which I have been aware of myself right from the 1990s when I first started using the Internet. We all have to learn to conduct threat assessments of our online and offline environments from time to time.
ALLNIGERIANSMAD: for those of you who don't understand what happened there, that's diesel engine, there's something called heater plugs that heat the diesel to help combustion, in this bus driver situation, the heater isn't working therefore need some drops of gasoline to suff the engine, for accuracy, he decided to inject the gasoline with needle cos high volume of pms gasoline can create problem. With this system, the engine will start until it switch off again the need to also snuff it again
Glimpsetv: The bus driver couldn't start his bus as the ignition wasn't responding. However, like a doctor, the driver brought out a syringe and gave the bus an injection, and the bus immediately started.
The passengers couldn't hold back their laughter as they found this act both funny and strange.
To those with mechanical knowledge who understand how car components work, this act is not really rocket science.
The question is, if you were one of the passengers, would you still continue this journey?
Danisaint112: OP NAIRALAND is not a place you expose yourself or family members especially if you are popular.
Meanwhile, did you ask for her permission before bringing/posting her here? 🥴
Even if you wanted to show off your beautiful sister or do it for the likes and praises, you could simply use a different account. The mods will still push it to front page because topics like this aren't usually overlooked.
Doing it with your main account is uncalled for. You know what I mean? Anyway Happy birthday to your sister. Many more years to come. 🙂
I have a totally different perspective to this.
There's nothing WRONG with what he has done. Besides, the OP is a Moderator here on NL. From time to time, NL members celebrate their anniversaries and that of their loved ones and these can get pushed to the NL frontpage depending on the news worthiness. The catchy thing about the post is that she's at the Etihad Stadium and is also celebrating her +1 birthday.
