odunmanuel: Is a pity seeing our gigantics leaders, heros & rolemodels in dis mess. Let's proclaim ceasefire in dis forum
My advice to you friend, is to ignore all the noise. If you go back from when this thread started you will see that these attention seekers have been attacking each other just to stay relevant, It is people like you who call for ceasefire that feed their egos. Please don't waste your time one such elements. Many others are willing to answer your questions. If even no question gets answered from this point on, reading from page 0 will give you all you need without having to ask any question.

To follow up on what you said, I will also like to caution us all. If you try to develop personally and visit a school/college/career development center etc., some of these institutions are interested in just locking you in to get you financial aid. Please be careful with any school you commit to. Example, borrowing 20.000 dollars to go on a one year program will leave you paying for student loan for 10 years. So please invest in programs that will bring good returns both monetary and personal development.

Gentiger: A word of advice to those just arriving. You will get lots of calls from scammers seeking for your credit card details. They will promise you government grants and jobs too fantastic to refuse all in exchange for a sign on fee which invariably will require divulging your debit/credit card details. When this starts to happen, remember you were forewarned. Additionally, I advice all immigrants to have self development goals in mind. I don't care what you graduate with in Nigeria. Until your record shows you did a program with a certification from a recognized US institution, you won't earn much. To boost your earning, you must of necessity do a program which could be a certificate, diploma or degree course. You can start out with a certificate program and gradually advance to the core programs while taking advantage of government grants. I wish everyone a happy Easter. Gentiger signing off from Los Angeles.

There is a plethora of reasons why one is out under administrative processing. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to speed up the process. They will contact you withing the stipulated letter they handed you to inform you about the process. I was put on administrative processing to but it was successful by the grace of God.

There is no need to worry especially if all your documents are clean and you have no criminal record in your country or abroad. Good luck chuck and I know you will come up tops. In the mean time thank God in advance for success.

Bless

mohamed shire: please house is there any one who have been putted for further administrative process ? please how long will it take to you to wait, and what is your problem of putting u for further processing

please write to me soon i am still panic

Big Congrats to you and your wife!
Thanks be to God

Allybert: Hi everyone,

To the glory of the Lord and the prayer of you all, I and my wife had a successful interview some hours ago. The CO at window 13 is indeed an angel! Without much ado, I will just go straight to the interview experience proper. But mind you, my wife was the principal applicant. She played as single before we married last year before the DV result.

Co: good morning
We: good morning ma
CO: Please sign these forms
We: Okay ma - we signed the forms
CO: Am going to take your fingers print
We: Alright ma - ( We did the fingers print)
CO: Do you swear to say nothing but the truth?
We: Absolutely yes
CO: please go and have your sit while I interview your wife.
Me: Alright ma. - (I had to stood a few distance away cos I already lose my sit)
Co: what is the name of your sch?
Wife: Blah blah blah
CO: What course did you study?
Wife: Food sci & tech
CO: Why did you study food sci & tech
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: What year did you finished?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah -
CO: Tell me about your course
Wife: Blah blah blah
CO: No. I don`t want defination. I want full explanation
Wife: Blah blah blah blah- (explaining in details until she asked her to stop)
CO: Tell me about food processing
Wife: Blah blah blah blah
CO: What are perishable food products?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: How can you preserve them?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah - (citing terms and giving examples) Now the CO is typing.
CO: When did you get married?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: Where, when and how did you meet your husband?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: When did he proposed?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: What does your husband do?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: Can you explain what type of business your husband do?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: How much does he earn?
Wife : I really don`t know the exact amount
CO: You mean you don`t know how much your husband earn?
Wife: Yes, because he is not a salary earner. But we are living good. We are okay with what he earns.
CO: Oh! yeah I can really see that. - ( at this stage the interview is becoming very interesting to her and what follows thereafter was more like a chit chat)
CO: What type of wedding did you do?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: DO you have a very big wedding?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: Do you have wedding pictures?
Wife : yes (my wife brought out our photo book and as she was flipping, the CO asked her to keep flipping. She was smiling, then asked wife to stop and pointed to someone in the picture)
CO: Who is that in the picture?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: Do you have any courtship picture?
Wife : Yes
CO: Can I see? (At this stage she was very busy typing and staring into the computer. She did not bother to check the courtship pictures) She then asked my wife to call me. As I was approaching the window, she said to my wife - give me a minute I want to get some papers.
Wife: Alright ma - Now I am standing beside my wife and she was whispering into my ear. Then the CO returned with two papers and gave our original documents back to us.
CO: MR & MRS blah blah blah, congratulations your visas have been approved. Welcome to America. Go to the circled address to pick up your visas next week Fri. She then explained something to us about how to pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee but we werent really paying attention because we were very excited. My wife was just smiling and saying thank you, thank you, thank you ma! The CO was just smiling......

My wife did a very good job and I am very proud of her. The only question I was asked was "Did you swear to say nothing but the truth" Which I answered "Absolutely yes"

Lessons:

* Be prayerful
* Prepare very hard
* When academic question is asked, don`t give definations but explanation and keep explaining until the CO ask you to stop.
* Speak out loud and look straight into the CO`s eyes.
* If married, say things the way they are. Don`t fabricate.
* Make sure you are able to defend whatever qualification you are claiming.
* Another thing I observed from other interview experiences is that, the CO usually start their academic questions from your highest level of education and if you are able to explain very well, they will not bother to ask you questions from your SSCE.

Thank you and God bless you all.
TravelRe: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by ksjlar: 5:17pm On Feb 08, 2013
Bro, If you go to the country specific website for the US embassy Nigeria website, it mentions wedding pictures and even phone logs if you had long distance relationship at some point. It is important to check country specific requirements and not only the generic requirements.

Thanks

peace1166: But in the requirement it says, Marriage certificate, not weeding pictures?
TravelRe: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by ksjlar: 2:07pm On Feb 04, 2013
Awesome!
Thanks to God and welcome to America proper!

Best,

Gentiger: Hello all, I have gotten my passport and visa. Thanks for your prayers and encouragement.

Lesson: Do not waste your precious time tracking anything. My passport was ready for pick up since Thursday and the tracking Status kept saying not ready for pick up. Now I can book my flight. I love you all.
TravelRe: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by ksjlar: 3:51am On Feb 03, 2013
I am just wondering @Gentiger, What date was written on your slip to pick up your visa. I mean is your pickup date overdue according to the date written on your slip?
Just checking? Is it also possible to contact the embassy if your pickup date already passed and still no news?

Best.

Gentiger: At the initial stage when I did exactly what you directed, it said picked up. Since then this is the message it displays:

'There is no status update available for the passport number submitted.'

Can someone tell me what's going on?
TravelRe: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by ksjlar: 2:46am On Jan 31, 2013
I personally think this is a smart answer.
@Nuru since you mentioned you will be interviewing in Europe, please do well to find out from the embassy where you will interviewing with and they will help you to clarify all doubts.

Thanks.

widelink: Hello house, my suggestion for those that having serious issue is to contact the embassy handling their cases via E-mail. I am very sure they will surely help you out without any stress because that's why they are there. When I filled my DS-230 form my wife was pregnant and I wrote a letter in my own hand writing stated that we might appear more than two during our interview and send a copy of my wife's pix in her pregnancy state. I followed it up when my child was born and notified the US embassy in Nigeria, the correspondence unit replied that I should download attached copy of form DS-230 for my daughter and Im free to appear with her.

Surprisingly, when I was called @ the window to submit my docs the lady smiled and told me I did well my notifying KCC in the first place. She returned my wife pix which was sealed in a static nylon and packaged well and same thing with my letter.

@Nuru please contact the embassy via email and explain yourself but make sure you print out the reply from their corresponding unit and take it along with you to your interview.

May God almighty direct our paths and we shall not fail.

Thanks all.

Haha! Its good that you have lost weight. Even though in Africa being fat is misconstrued as good living, obesity is highly frowned upon. Loose all the weight you can bro and I bet you will be sharp and swift in Texas/LA.

Gentiger: Thanks dear. I have lost weight thinking all sought of funny thoughts. I'll be there in the morning to pick it up. Thanks once again.

paa11: Thanks be to God, I had my interview this morning and I was successful.
This is my interview experience, I got to the embassy in Ghana around 6:30am and my interview appointment was at 7:30am. I went through the security checks and this is how the interview went:

CO: Do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth?
ME: Yes I do
CO: What is your present occupation?
ME: Blaa Blaa
CO: Are you married?
ME: Blaa Blaa
CO: Do you have children?
ME: Blaa Blaa
CO: Have you traveled to U.S. before
ME: Never
CO: Congratulations, she picks a blue sheet and circles it and asked me to come on Friday to pick my visa

Indeed God has been faithful and He who started a good work in me is surely bringing it to a successful end on Friday when I pick my visa pack

Congrats Tiger!
Nice one mate . . . even tho you did not congratulate me on my success, I do not see the need to reciprocate that but hey man, you deserve it so congrats on a job well executed and welcome to USA.
Thanks be to the almighty father who deserves all the glory.

Best,
ksjlar.

Gentiger: Let me begin by thanking you all. You're all truly wonderful and dearly loved. I appreciate Spoondar, Kemzone, Temmy, Adesoji, Brightmon, Ifeanyi.Abdul, Jidedon, Adzovia, Tiwana, Bussyme, Gunners4u, Junkerhill, Honeydee, Remmy, ChirpyWest, Ibracadabra, and everyone not expressly mentioned. I wish I could remember all your beautiful names. Thank you all for the prayers and inspiration. God bless you all.

I left the house by 4:45am and arrived 5:20am. We observed all the necessary protocols and the checks and got ushered in. I purposely sat in such a away as to have a clear view of the white lady everyone dreads. I needed to inderstand her methods, temperament and ideology should in case I am sent to her.

She denied virtualy everyone who got to her desk. I realized it's not about the woman. It's about the applicants who come ill-prepared. She wants to be sure you TRULY MERIT the visa. Her question are not difficult but tricky and searching. From my interactions with her, I figured she must be a lawyer or someone with legal exposure. She asked me questions, more of a cross examination using legal terms known only to legal minds.

Now this is the secret to dealing with her. Learn forward and look her right in the eyes. That makes her uncomfortable and less composed. It's like turning the table against her. Answer her questions with CONFIDENCE even If you're not so sure of the answers. Maintain eye contact and be polite to a fault. Her approach could make you edgy and could provoke anger in her which always prompts her to deny without mercy. Keep a smiling face and raise your pitch when responding to her query. Use gestures too. All these played out to my favour. Above all, I realized she appreciates good command of English Language. But really, how can you claim to be a graduate and unable to make a sentence that's error-free? Let's polish our vocab.

Me: Good morning lady (with smiles)
Co: Thank you
Me: You're welcome.
Co: Do you swear to tell the truth?
Me: (Still smiling) Absolutely. I do.
Co: Put your fingers on the machine. I want to capture your prints.
Me: Ok maam.....
She takes my prints .....
Co: Thank you
Me: You're welcome.
Co: What's your highest Qualification?
Me: LLB, BL.
Co: Which aspect of law are you specialized in?
Me: Bla bla bla.
Co: Tell me all you know about a valid contract and what makes a contract enforceable?
Me: I lectured her with decided cases and statutory provisions
Co: Tell me the aspect of law you find difficult.
Me: I told her.
To my surprise she began to lecture me on it. I chip in facts from time to time to buttress her points.
Co: Have your original documents
Me: Thank you maam! (With a broad smile)
Co: I am going to issue you a visa.

There were two sheets before her. One was for denial and the other for approval. She pulled the paper, circled an address and asked me to pick my visa on Friday next week. I enjoyed my time with her. I am sure she enjoyed my company. She's such a lovely Angel to chit-chat with.

Hello @garvins. I would have told you what temmytanny just told you. It means if the US embassy will verify all your documents and it it will turn out to be true then you got no problem. Besides, I dear Lord is the final judge so he will rule in your favor in Jesus name!
Cos frankly if you are put on administrative processing there is nothing you can do either to speed up the process or influence the decision. BUT as long as your documents checks out to be ok then you will be granted your visa.
My prayer is that God will rule in your favor . . . just wait for you visa buddy.

temmytanny: provided all what you gave them are authentic,fear not.

http://www.greencardlawyers.com/answers_for/VisaProcessing/visasecuritychecks.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_Advisory_Opinion

http://www.avvo.com/legal-guides/ugc/an-overview-of-security-checks-in-the-us-nonimmigrant-visa-process

It is often the case when an applicant for a visa is told that a final decision cannot be made on his visa application immediately. In doing so, the consular officer invokes Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act and informs the applicant that the case will be put on hold until the applicant’s eligibility for the visa can be determined. This processing “time-out” is taken frequently: approximately one million visa applications were subjected to 221(g) during 2010. Technically, 221(g) is considered a denial; in subsequent visa applications and registration in the Electronic System for Travel Authorization, this must be disclosed. Nevertheless, the overwhelming majority of 221(g) denials are overcome and visas issued.

There are, in essence, two types of 221(g) cases:

1.Washington-related “administrative processing”, in which a clearance or approval is required from an interested agency or agencies in Washington, D.C.
2.Post-related, in which the consular officer requires additional time, information, or documentation before making a final visa decision.

A.Clearances from Washington are required when the applicant presents issues of security, criminality, legal questions, technology exports from the US, other admissibility problems, or is from a country of concern. The question of a security “hit” can arise in a variety of situations, such as potential terrorists, individuals who previously worked as military or other attachés in the US for an unfriendly country, even if that work took place decades before, or even individuals who spent time in certain countries (e.g., Iran). To resolve these issues, a Security Advisory Opinion is needed. Often the “hits” arise because the applicant has a common name: other individuals with the same name are blacklisted, causing cases of mistaken identity or prolonged delays. Suspected criminal activity or ties (e.g., Russian mafia) can also lead to prolonged processing to allow for an investigation. In addition, consular officers refer some legal issues, such as certain material misrepresentations made in a visa application, to Washington for a legal advisory opinion. The application will be held in abeyance until receiving guidance from the Visa Office Advisory Opinion section.

A widely applicable phenomenon has been administrative processing for applicants, usually scientists, researchers, and businessmen, who may be exposed to technologies in the United States which fall under the Technology Alert List. The US does not want sensitive technologies to fall into the wrong hands. In such cases, the applicant is requested to provide an English-language resume, list of publications, and description of the proposed work to be done in the US, which is forwarded to Washington. Individuals who hail from certain countries, such as Iran, Syria, Sudan, must be cleared by Washington. Quite often, these clearances are a formality and simply a question of time to run through the interagency gamut. However, for certain types of clearances, the visa validity period may be limited.

B.Post-related issues can also be broad in scope. They may include investigations or verifications in the home country of the applicant or requests for information or documentation relating to the qualifications of the applicant for a visa. A consular officer may seek to investigate or verify issues such as:

•the legitimacy of a marriage (e.g., send an investigator to the home of the couple applying for a visa);
•employment of an applicant (e.g., calling an applicant’s company to verify that he does work there);
•tax filings or information (e.g., confirming with the tax inspectorate the tax number of an entrepreneur);
•pension fund payments; authenticity of an education document (e.g., sending an inquiry to the Ministry of Education or a school or university to confirm that such a diploma was issued);
•intentions or existence of a sponsor (e.g., calling the United States to speak to the signatory of an affidavit of support);
•or authenticity of a statutory document, such as a marriage, birth, or divorce certificate.

Additional document requests may include:
•a police certificate from a country in which the applicant lived after the age of 16;
•certified copies of court dispositions (arrests, convictions); confirmation of the date of a past departure from the US (e.g. visa overstay);
•employer tax documentation; additional affidavit of support (e.g., consular officer does not believe that the submitted affidavit of support suffices);
•job offer (e.g., a Lottery winner); financial documents (e.g., if the applicant will undergo medical treatment in the U.S.);
•and additional information about the job to be performed in the United States or the employer.

Sometimes, the initiation or outcome of these investigations can be erroneous. For example, a consular officer may mistakenly believe that an applicant has a background in a technology that is on the Technology Alert List; a consular investigator may visit the wrong office address; a secretary who picks up the phone at the applicant’s place of employment may tell the consular caller that no such person works there when in fact the applicant does work there.

But if all your documents is good then you have nothing to worry about. There are a couple of reasons why a person is put under administrative processing tho so probably the interview experience might give us a clue.

Thanks.

It is very possible. If you mean searching for jobs outside the USA. I tried it and got like 3 interviews already. God willing one will work out.

Thanks.

Spoondar: Things are getting rough these sides, This is to the people in USA, can one start searching for a job online while we are still in Africa? I thought having a job waiting for you there is cool or what is your take in this.

If you do not have a SSN and a card already which I doubt you have, then that was a mistake. You can correct it at the embassy if you have already been scheduled for an interview, otherwise you can send KCC a corrected form requesting for a SSN number and a SS card.

Thanks

@femo:
Do u want SSA to issue you a card YES or NO but i filled NO. pls house i nid your urgent reply. i sent dis form since may 2012. hop it wil nt delay my SSN. my case no 11plus

I am told that the immigration cannot access the social security administration database so you cannot receive your social security number just by being processed at the point of entry by immigration. You need to go to the nearest social security administration center as adesojiaderemi@ said and fill a one page form to apply for your new card. It is a very easy process. Take your Ghanaian passport with you as well as your birth certificate.
Thanks

adzovia: i thought we had to wait at home for the card since we have filled the ssn on the ds forms. i was actually given a print out by the embassy to wait for 2 to 3 weeks after arrival in the states for the ssn. that there was no need to go to their office

Wow This is my contribution some months back that @Spoondar have quoted and I am happy it came in handy once more.
I used the third option by filling online and sending by email and I went to interview and got my visa with it so on authority, I can say you can send forms to KCC via email especially if time might not be on your side.

Thanks.

Spoondar: The only things you are sending right now to KCC are

· DSP 122 completed for the principal applicant
· DS 230 Part I completed for all family members & principal applicant applying for a Diversity Visa
· DS 230 Part II completed for all family members & principal applicant applying for a Diversity Visa
· Two (2) passport size full face photograph for each family member & principal applicant applying for a Diversity Visa

NO other Documents please. Dont worry about the date of birth you will write the correct date on the forms and there is a place where they ask if you entered the eDv entry by yourself or someone did that is when you say someone did it for you.

You can either send it by email or courier.
You have three options to do it.
-First, your can print out the forms and fill in your details with a pen.
-The second option is to open the form on a computer and fill it directly in the computer then later print it out if you finish filling form completely. Google chrome browser works well.
-The last option I see here is to send the form by email. This needs you to be a little computer savvy. With this option you fill the forms on the internet as stated in option two. If you finish filling the forms, you will then save it in a pdf format (If you do not know what pdf is, then please do not use this format). "Nitro pdf pro" works as well (you can Google to download it). You will then write your case number at the top right hand of each page and then save it again.

In all three options you need to keep an extra copy of your forms for future reference since it will come in handy when preparing for your interview. When sending the forms via email,you need to attach your pictures to the attachments you are going to send to kcc. The size of the picture is the same as the size used in the DV lottery. Ps. do not use the same pictures as you used to play the DV lottery since it is more that 6 months old. Hmm this is a lot of details but like I said do not use option three if you are not computer savvy. I personally called kcc and verified if they accept email forms and they said YES so don't ask me if you are wondering, said lateefdauda from Nairaland

You will save around $40 by sending via email

I read your bible verses @Godhelpmeooo!
This is more of violence where people actually got killed. If I may ask what is its direct bearing to the Merry Christmas you wish us or to the success stories people are sharing here. Maybe I only did a direct interpretation but you might have a contextual interpretation so please elaborate more.

Thanks

Also please bear in mind at this point your 2NL will be available on a first come first served basis and poeple who have sent theirs to KCC in May might be treated first as against people who sent in October.
And by the way your CN number is it in the ten thousands or hundred thousands? How you wrote it threw me off a little I admit.

sunday45: Please house help me out ooooo.
I prepared and sent my 1NL on October..... My CN is 10*9**.
Pls is it possible too to receive the 2NL this month. And secondly, how can i write a mail to the KCC to confirm when exactly my interview falls. Pls Help me.

Just wanted to start thanking the Lord in advance for all the 12/12/12 DV interview appointees.

The Lord has done it again. He definitely brings to perfection every good thing he already started.

Glory to God!
