Katsina abductions: Nigerians knock Buhari as president visits cattle ranch, shuns school A video showing the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), visiting his cows in Daura Katsina State, barely hours after hundreds of boys were abducted by bandits has elicited criticisms from several social media users. The pupils of Government Boys Science Secondary School in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State were abducted by gunmen who came on motorbikes around 11 pm on Friday night. In a video posted on social media on Monday by Sahara Reporters with the time stamp December 12, 2020, however, Buhari is seen with his aides touring his ranch. The video comes barely a day after Buhari, who is also in Katsina State, failed to visit the school but rather sent a delegation from Abuja to visit the school and sympathise with the families of the victims. Another tweep wondered how Nigerians would ensure Buhari’s incompetence for the next three years. @iamscorefield tweeted, “Is this the president you want to rule till 2023? Remember we are still in 2020. We better focus on #BuhariMustResign not #Endsars.” @Thedarkhorse123 said the recent abduction of schoolboys could be worse than the kidnapping of Chibok girls in 2014 if urgent action is not taken. “It appears if we don’t do something in the next 24 hours, we may have another Chibok case in our hands. Anytime this happens and is ignored for two to three days the window closes! The state government is saying 300 (are missing) while Garba Shehu is saying 10 students. We are in a mess,” he tweeted. Sahara Reporters Publisher, Omoyele Sowore, said it was obvious that Buhari was not competent and it was time for him to go. “600 Students got kidnapped in Katsina and he ignored them instead the lifeless President went to visit his cows! The moment we get it that the Buhari regime can’t be redeemed we will come to the inevitable conclusion that #Buharimustgo,” Sowore tweeted. @TFatombi, “Cows with benefits. 600 lives meant nothing to him.” “Where a man’s treasure is that’s where his heart is,” tweeted @AdemolaAgunbia3. https://punchng.com/katsina-abductions-nigerians-knock-buhari-as-president-visits-cattle-ranch-shuns-school/ |

The Chairman of the Northern Youth Leaders Forum, Rev Elliot Afiso, has claimed that former President Goodluck Jonathan laid the foundation for the festering insecurity, banditry and killings in the country by sponsoring a Fulani group known as "Miyetti Allah Kautal Horre." The NYLF Chairman alleged that the former President in 2014 paid the group N300 million with which they purchased most of their firearms. ex-President Goodluck Jonathan In an interview with SaharaReporters, Afiso noted that President Muhammadu Buhari had been caged and was no longer in charge of the government. He said, "One thing that I want Nigerians to know is that it was in 2014 that banditry started in earnest. This is because, that was when the then President, Goodluck Jonathan, reneged on a gentleman agreement of not seeking a second term. He lobbied the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association and the Northern Elders Forum, but they refused. "But because he was desperate, he mobilised some people who create "Miyetti Allah Kautal Horre", and he also created the Northern Elders Council, to rival those groups that refused to endorse his reelection ambition. "Recall that he received Miyetti Allah Kautal Horre at the presidential villa and gave them N300,000,000 to gain their support. Unfortunately, Miyetti Allah Kautal Horre used the money to acquire arms. "Don't forget that he was dealing with Fulani people whose cattle have been rustled by Boko Haram terrorists, so they were also desperate to regain their means of livelihood. "Having acquired firearms with Jonathan's gift, they found kidnapping and banditry to be a lucrative business. Also, with a polarised elite group, the bandits began to enjoy the support of some Northern elders. "When you have a one-on-one interaction with some of the arrested kidnappers, they tell you sometimes that they get as little as N5,000 share from a ransom because there's a big boss somewhere." When asked if the current regime of President Muhammadu Buhari was capable of tackling the menace, Elliot replied, "Let me say without the fear of contradiction, the Buhari we knew is not the Buhari we now have. "This is because this Buhari has been caged. The Buhari we knew would not allow any security challenge to last beyond 24 hours. Recall the other time; the President said he was not even aware that the Inspector General of Police didn't follow his orders to relocate to Benue State." The northern and southern parts of the country had been gripped in the paw of banditry and kidnapping for ransoms for years under Buhari. The situation seems to be worsening, with the latest episode being the abduction of more than 600 schoolboys in a boarding Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State. Very insightful and educative. Nice one! |
Free only people of liberty can say that with harmony The Deer knows not its destination For me a sweet sensation I haven’t fallen down Not for me to drown Do not contain me Otherwise, let me be free Let me scream Let me jump Let me hit my head and have a bump For me free is a word That with harmony It can be heard There’s nothing like being free Because free is being free Only those who are dumb Can understand freedom Because those who are smart Don’t have a heart I want to follow my dreams My heart can be appeased Everyone is free and as still as a tree freedom is a choice a very powerful voice if this isn’t important why did our forefathers fight for our reinforcement if not twice just be free just once |
Who are these people deceiving? Which 200 million people? Abeg safe us this rubbish. Buhari knows his constituency when it comes to appointment and interest of the people that matter most to him! |

Garba was spitting nonsense, clearance was not granted when the farmers are planting and no boko haram attack then it's now that they are harvesting that they need clearance. Then army spoke man said locals are providing info to boko haram about their movements, I won't be surprised if those providing info are the same boko members that have been released and integrated back to the same society! God Almighty will protect us from the insensitive and wicked rulers. Your rewards is with Allah SWT. If any of the farmers is your relative, will you be saying those stupid things. Wicked souls! |

I am home today nursing a torn muscle from my treadmill workouts and thought that I should comment on something that happened recently. I noticed that a video was trending on Twitter a few days ago. It was a video of folks from a church in the Southeastern part of Nigeria holding a prayer walk for Donald Trump. We saw reports earlier that another church in the region also held a parade for Trump. Those of you who follow me know that I have written about this strange phenomenon of Nigerians, particularly Igbos (my ethnic group), supporting and praying for Trump. It started with the false meme that spread on social media that Trump supports Igbos (Biafrans). Some Igbos are pushing to secede from Nigeria due to their discontentment with the tensions between Christians in the North (Igbos are mostly Christians) and Muslims in the North. Many of us Nigerians in the United States are dual citizens. We have often found it baffling that our brothers and sisters back home don’t seem to fully understand who Trump is. Most of them truly believe that Trump is a devout Christian and some even call him a God-sent. Those of us who know Trump better find the claim to be ludicrous. Anyway, I have often tried not to be too critical of our folks back home, but seeing this video trending on Twitter and reading that Trump acknowledged it sent me over the edge. While I understand that we are all entitled to our opinions, beliefs, and values, I find myself in a position of using my own voice to express my opinion and disdain for what I am seeing. This is personal to me. I recognize that I am about to take a harsh tone here, but sometimes you’ve got to take a stand for your own values. I have no doubt in my mind that Trump does not give a damn about Igbos or Nigerians. In fact, he has blocked visas and family reunification programs for Nigerians. He has not spoken out against the issue of police brutality in Nigeria, which most of our Igbo folks are fighting against with the #EndSARS movement. Trump has also blocked the appointment of Nigerians to leadership positions within some international organizations. So, if you are one of the Nigerians holding prayer vigils and parading for Trump, shame on you! You are actively praying for a man who is doing his best to make life harder for your brothers and sisters in the diaspora. I have not seen a prayer walk from any of you for the various issues we’ve encountered. We’ve had mass shootings in the United States and none of you held parades or vigils to pray for our safety. You pray for Trump and shamelessly tell us that we need to return home if we find his policies unbearable. Meanwhile, you are all too happy to receive the billions of dollars in remittances that we send to Nigeria every year. Your prayers for Trump are prayers against our welfare and the welfare of our children. So, shame on you! I don’t comment too much on events happening in Nigeria and it’s not because I don’t care; it’s just that I left Nigeria decades ago, which means that I can no longer draw on my lived experience for commentary. I can rely on research, but that means that I will miss some nuances because one’s lived experience will always trump what one can deduce from reading. Many of you Nigerians praying for Trump actually believe that reading memes and news articles make you experts on Trump and the American experience. You see the things you hear on the 700 Club and TBN as non-partisan and true. You are often dismissive of your brothers and sisters in the United States who draw on their lived experience to form their opinion of Trump. It will be nice if you would give us the benefit of the doubt and acknowledge that we may know this guy better than you do. Trump does not give a damn about you or any other African nation! Trump is not a Christian, so shame on you for believing otherwise! Shame on you for supporting someone who saw a black man sitting in his lobby as an eyesore. Shame on you for professing to be Christians even as you support a conman who defrauds workers, sleeps with porn stars, separates children from their parents, denounces refugees fleeing war-torn locations, takes away food stamps from children, and who is actively working to take away health insurance from millions. The Igbos pride themselves on being smart. Whatever caused you to parade for a man who is pushing the world toward anti-intellectualism? Were we not taught that God is love? What does your Bible say about lust, greed, wrath, envy, and pride? Are they still deadly sins or not? We have a name for people who sympathize with their abusers. We need to see if this is a case of the Stockholm Syndrome or just another case of the regular, everyday colonial mentality. I recognize that I am being tough here, but if you are willing to support a white supremacist who spends all day sowing division, then rest assured that I have no problem distancing myself from you and your values. It was his inhumane immigration policies that shut American doors to vulnerable people from poor countries...his harsh immigration policy that made so many minors and babies to die at immigration camps near US borders with Mexico...God don't joke with children because their soul is the holy spirit, pure like diamond
You cannot love God and hate children! God is kind, God is loving, God is love. If you love God and want God to fight for you in time of distress, you must learn to show compassion, empathy and kindness towards children, the poor, and the vulnerable no matter what.
