My church recorded 114 coronavirus healing testimonies – Bishop Oyedepo
The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church International, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, said the decision to close down churches -to halt the spread of COVID-19 – has infected Lagos and Ogun with an anti-church virus.

The cleric said this while delivering a sermon on Sunday.
Oyedepo, once again, criticized the government for opening the markets.

He said it was ironic that people in marketplaces no longer observe social distancing or hygiene and remain open but the church is being suppressed.

The cleric said, “No handwashing, no nothing, everyone is in the market running over each other every day of the week and there is no outbreak from the market but there is now outbreak, perceived outbreak from the church. Prophets are God’s voices to the nations. Caution!

“Now, freedom of worship is no longer a constitutional right but now determined by some individuals. It is a hard thing to kick against the priest. This is no longer coronavirus in Lagos and Ogun. It is now the anti-church virus clean and clear.”

Oyedepo, however, added that 114 people testified to have been healed of coronavirus in his church.

The bishop said, “Can anybody silence the church? Never! I have never heard of anybody that God healed in the market but people get healed in every church day and night, real tangible healing. We have recorded 114 coronavirus healing testimonies. We got 10 this week.

“And that is the place that is vulnerable, not the market.”

Finally, the issues of visionless leadership, corruption and poor management of countries' economies have come to haunt Africa.

Believe me, if Akinwumi Adesina will survive this storm, two things will help.
1. His personal relationship and rapport with leaders of Germany, France and Japan as well as some African countries. Even after serving under Jonathan, he maintained good relationship with Pres Buhari. He has this intellectual charm.

2. The hatred which EU has for the proud narcissistic Donald Trump, the President of United States. Nigeria should exploit this to protect our candidate and image as a country.

All these letters will put diplomatic pressure on AfDB Board of Directors but if US garners the support of key non-African shareholders, Akinwumi Adesina will go because Francophone countries will always toe the line drawn by France thereby deflating Africa's resistance. In addition, I don't trust South Africa to protect Nigeria's interest.

What concerns non African in AfDB. Does any African country have interest in Asian Dev. Bank or European Dev. Bank?

The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka Winners’ Chapel International, David Oyedepo, has questioned the continuous closure of churches over the COVID-19 pandemic, saying he suspects ulterior motives.

Oyedepo, who spoke during the Covenant Hour of Prayer Programme on Wednesday, said if markets could be opened for six hours, there was no reason churches should not be opened for two hours.

The revered cleric said he believed there was a gang up against the growth of the church in the country.


He said, “There is something wrong. For people to be allowed to be in the market for six hours and can’t be in church for two hours, it is an upside-down way of looking at things.

“Which one is more orderly? The market or the church?

“I can smell a rat. The Lord spoke to me on it so strong yesterday. I can smell a rat. Behind all this, how do we stop the church from exploding? The people involved don’t know it.


“The voice of darkness is influencing people at various levels, targeting the church because the growth and expansion of the church is the greatest headache of the devil. But the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The devil and all his agents shall surely pay for this.

“I don’t know what hospital that records the kind of healings that the church of God records. And now hospitals, where people die every day, are open, but the church is closed because the oppression of the devil has no medical cure.”


Earlier, the President of the LoveWorld Incorporated, aka Christ Embassy, Chris Oyakhilome, had slammed church leaders who agreed to the lockdown of churches without praying and consulting with other pastors.

The President of the LoveWorld Incorporated, aka Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has berated some church leaders for agreeing to shut down their churches without asking government for time to pray and consult with their congregation.

He said such leaders were not true Christians and it was the reason the country did not “see the hand of God.”

Oyakhilome also questioned why COVID-19 patients were shut out from churches, saying the House of God should be a place of healing.


The revered cleric, who spoke in a telecast to his members, said the government would soon begin to classify churches based on their compliance with directives on the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said while some would be tagged COVID-19 compliant churches, others would be stigmatised for not abiding by the rules.

“COVID-19 compliant churches will mean churches that people who are infected with COVID-19 cannot come there. Is the church of Jesus Christ not a place of healing? So, those of you who love to run around government officials to get your validation, come and get COVID-19 compliant registration for your church. That is the last day Jesus will be in that church.


“In different cities, ministers of God gathered together and shut down the congregations of the Lord. How many said, let us pray; give us time to pray? They consulted you; they consulted you in different nations and states. How many of you said, let us pray?

“Because they said there would be compensation for the period of the lockdown. What compensation can be enough to replace the praise and worship of the congregation? I hope you have enjoyed the time so far, only you in the cathedral did online transmission. Hope you enjoyed it so far? But thank you very much for what you did to the House of God.”


Oyakhilome, who told his congregation he had a lot to tell them, said churches would soon be asked to set up testing centres because people would not be going for testing.


“What they are using to test, do you know what it is? Do you know why it can show positive and negative? Do you know? A virus they told us they are still studying, why don’t they study it first? They are still studying it and they already have a vaccine that could be ready in July for a virus they are still studying,” the pastor said.
