Guys, if you want LASG to do something in your area, this is the best time for you to ask, election is coming and they really need our votes, I suggest that we should have a pictorial view of all the bad roads in our community and post same on the social networks and send a copy to lagos state goverment's website, we can even send a copy to Fashola and tell him that if APC needs our votes next election, they should do the needful. For the so called chairmen, let all of us campaign against them in the next election. I believe that APC should not allow to win all the seat in house of assembly next year and also the chairman and councilors election should be shared among other political parties, with these things we improve in our communities. |
This is a very interesting topic, let me share my experince with you. Sometimes last year we decided to engage an housemaid after so many pressure from my wife. She joined us in August 2012 and we enrolled her to private school and she was admitted to JSS 3, we paid close to N80,000 for her uniform, school fees and other expenses, that was the agreement we had with her mummy. So we continue to leave together as family, there is no disrimination, whatever my children eat is what she will eat. She shared the same room with my sister in law, practically all she does is domestic chore. Initially, everything was going on fine untill my wife started complianing about her disobedience and her bad behaiviour, atimes I will "shakara" her that I will be beat her, though eventually I did beat her once after so many warning. After, the first term, her result was released and she came first, I was so impressed and I asked my wife to get her some cloths which she did. I took this lady as my blood sister. She resumed the second term so we paid another 35k for her school fees and juniour waec exams, atfter the payment, her mother called me to request for money which I turned down because our agreement was to send her daughter to school. The problem started when she went for holiday with her mummy, then my kids were not around so we decided to allow her to spend sometimes with her mum. The day she suppose to return, we didn't see her and her mother called to apologise that she was going through some deliverance which after she will come. There after she returned and resumed school, she did her junior waec while we are expecting her result, the mum called me that she was tired of lagos that she is planning to relocate to her village hence she will be going with her daughter, my mum called her mother to come and they had discussion, base on their discussion, my mum told me that her mother needs money hence, I should withdraw the girl from private school and register her to public school so that I can be given her mum 5k every month, which to me it doesn't make sense to withdraw her from private school to public. I agreed to leave her to continue in private school while I will give her mum N5k every month. While we are still expecting her result , her mum called that she has changed her mind to come and pick her daughter, then both myself and wife was not around, I was furious and I just told my mum to allow her to take her daughter, that was how they left my house, uptill now I have no information about her whereabout. This is my experience with househelp. Atimes I don't blame people that maltreat them. By and large I will advise whoever that needs to engage house help should try and give then something in return such that in the nearest future they will remember you for good. If you can't send them to school let them go and learn something. |
If you believe in something why can't you go for it. If you think that land could be useful for agriculture, what stop you from approaching the govt to get the land and commence farming that will feed a state. I was at the just concluded RCCG convention and I can tell you the economic benefits that flow in that place is more than N500m. The pure water seller, handkeichief seller, petty traders, transporters etc benefited from such economics benefit. Did all the money go to RCCG pocket. Whether you like it or not RCCG has contributed economically into well being of low income earners. |
@Sammor. It seems you are staff of GTB, am not dissapointed at your reaction because your Managing Director ( segun Agbaje) lacks respect for customers that is the reason you are calling your customer onigbe jati jati. I worked with GTBank before though is being long I left them. I will try and explain the process flow on cash deposit. Let assumed it was true that OP's account was credited with 102,000 instead of 10,200, the teller/cashier that received the money will not balance his till for that day, he/she will have a shortage of N91,800 ( 102,000- 10,200) hence, he put the operation manager on enquiry to look for the difference by calling over the transactions again and again until they were able to identify where the difference arose from which can either be wrong posting as the case above or outright over payment of cash to customers. If that is done, there is no way that the error will not be detected and the transaction will be reversed. Again, let us assumed that the error was not discovered that day and ops has withdrawn 60,000 from the money the teller will have no choice than to pay for the difference and be waiting for the day the customer will have enough cash in the account and reveresed the transaction. Now back to the case at hand, am sure that the Op's has a good fight if he can go through the proper channel. you can send a mail to thier system and control department, the department is in charge of audit and control. you can also call this numner " 08057101365, 08057008273,08057008200. It is CBN Help desk those guys will work on your complaint and am sure you will get a solution. You can also use the phone number for any ATM issues, i have used it twice and i got my money back sharp sharp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck |

nonysmith: reading what alot of us have said on dis platform; really half information or wrong information is dangerous....the corporate affairs commission is in charge of any and all registration of companies that intend to do business in nigeria...companies are registered under have part A (LIMITED COMPANY), PART B(BUSINESS NAME) or PART C(INCORPORATED TRUSTEES) ANY individual can register a business name but only a lawyer can incorporate a limited company or register an ngo under part c.....now as regards delay most state corporate affair branches have to send the jobs down to the abuja head office of cac dats why there seems to be delay...also getting a cac staff to do an incorporation is totally wrong and frowned at by the commission and NBA as a whole..infact if anyone reports dat staff he or she may loose his job..this is so as to protect the profession and prevent touting.....also most prices have been changed due to the new regulation that was passed early dis year..now dis should not be confused with the NIPC(NIGERIA INVESTMENT PROMOTION COUNCIL).....THATS ANODA GIST FOR ANODA DAY AS DEY ARE CHARGED DIRECTLY WITH FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT.....on a final note getting the incorporation done in Abuja is faster cos most lawyers dat deliver incorporation jobs swiftly send it down to abj for the lawyers in abj to execute....generally the price of incorporation depends on the share capital, the client and professional fee so i laugh when i see pple say i did mine for 45k and den anoda psn say 65 and everyone cries foul...i wud end by saying go to a SAN office and ask them to incoporate a company for you and den listen carefully to the fees they wud call......effectiveness/legal professional fee has no price tag @ Nonysmith, i disagree with your comments on " only lawyer is allowed to register a company. By law 3 professionals are allow to incorporate a business in Nigeria they are 1. Lawyer 2. Chartered Accountant 3. Chartered Secretary. Please stop misleading people with your falacy. |
@ fixed, The letter from FIRS might not really from their office, for the tax guy to be calling your friend there is more to it. My opinion is this, write a letter to then and contest that figure, pls do that through a tax expert. Pls don't give anyone bribe pls, we need to start discouraging that. Also, tell your friend to prepare a management account that will show the true position of his business, moreover fish is part of food and its excluded from VAT. NB: we need to be careful not to give wrong information on this forum, if you don't no something pls keep mute let the people that have the knowledge speak. How could someone say you can only pay paye on your basic salary, I disagree with the person. You pay paye on all income that comes to you even income from other business apart from your salary. |
OP, Business name can never be allocated to someone else after the approval of such name, the only condition is when one fail to submit your documents for filling after maxmum of 60days, the name approval given will not be valid after the grace period, meaning the name will be available for anyone that needs to use it. I can help you to register your company, you can send a mail to on labiola@yahoo.com |
@ Jarus nice job you are doing. I would like to advise the business owners among us or someone who is about to incorporate his /her company to register with FIRS for your tax identification number ( TIN) to get your TIN is free but if you fail to do so within the stipulated time, be ready to pay penalty. Also if you are a business owners and you have commenced business ensure you remmit your VAT every month, doing so will help you to process your Tax clearance certificate ( TCC)easily without going to bribe tax officers. For some whose WHT has been deducted from source always go back to your clients to demand for the WHT receipts, from the experience most company dont remmit the portion deducted from you. N.B there is no more hiding place for tax evaders as the govt is doing everything to ensure conformity to tax law, that is why you see bank asking you for TIN before you can open a corporate account. |
Aqva(m): 10:08am Tax is a complex profession, it's difficult to knw it all with all the CIT, VAT, WHT laws which are complex. For the records, accounting is not taxation, I disagree that having ACA means u have knwn Abt taxation, an accountant knws very little indeed. To become a taxman u need yrs of on the job practice of taxation. Tax accounting is just one area. Other.complex areas include returns processing, payment processing, debt and arrears recovery, enforcement etc. All these areas have their laws too that needs mastering Oga i disagree with your comment which i reproduce "accounting is not taxation, I disagree that having ACA means u have knwn Abt taxation, an accountant knws very little indeed" let me react to your comment by asking you this simple question. How would you generate the figures in computing your tax liability? that an accountant knows very little indeed is a falacy, without a financial records can you compute CIT or PIB? What makes you a taxman? you can not seperate the head from the body, accounting is a universal set while taxation is subset. Do you know that as an accountant i can start my tax planning from posting into ledgers. for example, if have a donation that does not fall within the exceptions clause which i know that tax officer would query, I would rather put such transation on allowable expenses. Am not a CITN member but am a trained Chartered Accountant with years of experience in Audit and taxation. |

My guy transportation business is a lucrative one if well managed. presently, am into Danfo business and i can tell you from experience is a high risk business. Let me share my experience with you to guide you, sometimes last year i took a loan from my office and bought the Bus for N750,000, i also spent an additional N170,000 for registration, painting to Lagos colour, two new tyres and lawyer's agreement fee. I got a driver and we agreed for N1,550,000 that he will pay back for a period of one year and he will pay me N30,000 every week. I received my first payment on the 9th April, 2012 and as at today the guy has paid N900,000. In our agreement the guy should finish the payment by March 2013 but i doubt if he can meet up with the date. The challenges there is that the guy defaults in payment for logical reasons for example if there is a major repair on the bus, issue with Lasma, gear problem, sickness, accident etc. Atimes i have to treaten the guy with Lawyer to take my bus back from him. Overall, the guy has done well. if things gone according to plan one would have made about 60% profit from the investment. Would I continue on the completion of the final payment? my answer is undecide. My advice, if you have a good driver preferable a married and responsible man it will help you, aslo try and work with any of the big boss of NURTW to help you supervise it. I wish you best of luck. |
OP, you have done justice to this beautiful write up. I must commend your effort, you have done a good job, welldone brother. For me, I didn't see the story as a fiction but as an eyes opener for us. Below represent lesson learnt. 1. As an employer of labour always take good care of your staff, they are the best assets you can ever get. 2. There is always a payback period for hardwork, it will always come and one have to be sensitive always to recorganise the opportunity whenever it comes. 3. I love the part Ahaji said " you can never be rich while still in paid employment" that means we should all be looking to be an enterprenuer someday. 4. I also learnt that one should always be faithful to his or her partner. It is called commitment. So many thing to learn from this your wonder story. Please keep it up and I pray God will continue to increase your knowledge and wisdom. Thank for putting smile on my face. |
The question is what does he really want to do? work or follow his passion. Getting a job of 85k in an audit firm is a good deal as Business admin graduate, he can combine the job with his art work business. In case his picking the audit job, he can start writing a professional exams like ICAN, from there he can build a career for himself. I know some of the accounting graduate will be happy to get this kind of opportunity. Best of luck. |
What is wrong with us? Must we attached politics to everything? Am sorry if some of us continue to think this way, am afraid the future of the country is danger. The news reported was. 500 hectares agricultural development, the only thing that came to the mind of someone is that Amosun is paying back to Tinubu. Why can't we think outside the box?. Let be sincerely with ourselves some state governors are working. I was in a programme last week with Govnor Fashola as a paper presenter and Amosun was also present. The chairman of the session was one of the committee members appointed by Fashola to look for a land for rice plantation, Fashola has put in place the machinery for mass production of rice. It was the committee that discovered the land in ogun state. It was the chairman that pleaded with Gov Amosun that they have discovered a land and they want him to approve so that they can complete their job. We this, ogun state people will be employed and rice will be available for all. Hope you are aware that there is going to be food shortages in Africa a proactive government should start doing something to mitigate against the effect. |
I dont have any problem with commercial buses using Lagos state registration plate number, but the truth is that Lagos state is not issuing the plate numbers to commercial buses again ( Danfo). Sometimes in April I bought a Danfo for commercial use, I waited for one month to get Lagos registration, all the people I met then told me that there was a directive from commisioner of transport to stop issuing plate number for commercial buses, thereafter I registered my bus in ogun state. To change my plate number to Lagos state plate number now will cost me an additional money ,I think Lagos state is losing revenue to neighbouring state that is why they are given this directives. Our government should always be sensitive to the plight of the masses rather than there owning selfish interest. I just spoke to someone that work with lagos state ministry of transport , he told me that he's not aware if they have started issuing new plate numbers to commercial buses. |
Hi guys, i drive Mazda 626 1999 model, the car is shorting oil and my mechanic is of opinion that i should do engine ring, but i dont want to consider that, am thinking of changing the engine to tokunbo engine, aslo the AC compressor is not working, could someone link me with a good AC expert. am in lagos. |
The popular Tv personality usually at ramadan periods on NTA channel 10 has been reported dead. His lifeless body was said to have been found under apogbon bridge...this suggest he could have been kidnapped and killed. Can anyone in the house who know this great TV personality confirm this story? |
A friend of my who was sacked during the oceanic bank/ Eco bank merger has been going through a lot of financial challenges. After he lost his job, he got some money and he decided to buy Danfo ( Vanagol). He has been waiting for the past two weeks now for registration, all effort to get the bus registered proved abortive as a result of order of the commissioner of transport to stop registering any commercial buses, okada and keke napep. He even try to get a plate number outside Lagos i.e Ogun state but he was told he wont be allowed to use the bus in Lagos for business. Where are we going in this country? Could anyone in the house help? . |
What is wrong with us in this country? 90% Nigerians have no integrity and we keep saying there are no jobs in this country. I discovered that, there are so many people that want to start business and looking for people who they can trust but it has been very difficu lt to get. People lost their investment because some greedy being just want to make millions overnight, honestly, it is sad. I read people advising other not to do business with people just becos the probability of losing their fund is very high. You will have a business idea with d capital but to see someone to run d business for you is wahala. A friend of mine invested close to 2M of transportation business and lost his money due to bad drivers. The economy of this country can only move forward when all begins to have intergrity. |
GM008@ i have replied your mail. |
@djojo, you can not register a limited liability for15k dont be deceived, even business name cant fly for that amount, if you want to register a limited liablity company for 1,000,000 share capital, i can handle it for N70,000 and you will get it within 3 weeks. if you are interested you can talk to labiola@yahoo.com. |
@Alnuto INC, the question you ask is not clear but let me try and answer your question the way i understand it. When you incorpoarted your company with CAC, you are to register with FIRS for TIN ( Tax Identification number) within 6months after your company has been incorporated. Failure to do so attract penalty of N5,000 for each month you refused to register. For more information talk to labiola@yahoo.com |
The president GEJ has signed into law in june 2011 the Personal income tax act amended (PITAM), the effective date is june 2011 though the new amendement came into known in December 2011, the new PITA has a tax reduction for low earner income. For any info on tax issues talk to labiola@yahoo.com. |
It is high time we stopped this politically propaganda , honestly ACN has not been perfoming in the Local govt council, the truth is that we dont have party that can contest with them. PDP is not an option in Lagos, for me no member of my household will vote for PDP. The system of non performing by LG is a constitutional problem, where the allocation of LG is being paid to the same account with the state government, whatever the state gives to LG is what they will spend. That is why you see a lot of LG that are non performing because the state goverment is not given then what is due to them. Please note that it is not Lagos state that this evil act is praticable, is all over the country. until our legislature wake up from thier slumbers and seperate LG fund from states govt, there will never be an improvement in our LG. |
If you need any assitance on company income tax, personal income tax and registration with CAC, you can reach via this email address, labiola@yahoo.com |
Did anyone notice that Mr president didn't mention fight against corruption in his speech. This is an evidence that Mr President is not ready to fight corruption in Nigeria. |
