if u finish with 3rd class its not the end of the world. samuel adedoyin only completed primary 6, yall know the rest, right? its all about vision, purpose and above all blessing from the most high to succeed and not 3rd, 2nd or 1st class degrees

Sports › Re: Mikel Applies For British Citizenship by ladej(m): 3:11pm On Feb 20, 2009
Abeg spare us the stories. Is the the only player getting paid money? Please speak about what you know. If you like pay 10m as tax, it doesn't get your British Citizenship. Al Fayed pays more than 10 Mikels combined in tax but still can't get pali, so what are you going on about? Important my foot.

Adebayor is getting paid 80k and paying more tax than Mikel, why dem never give am citizenship?? What about Drogba at the same Chelski? Is he not making more money and paying more tax?

Make una bring another story jare.

No one is condemning Mikel, but if any wuruwuru agent has collected money from him claiming he is 'applying' for citizenship, then the boy don lost.

@debosky. no hs not the only player getting money but most of the other players are EU nationals already mate. al fayed didnt get pali because of what went down with the diana fiasco, even before that he was always criticising the government. that was why he was refused. hes however a swiss national grin. as for adebayor and droba perhaps they dont need it. remember drogba was playing in france for a few years and probably has a french passport. hes been there since the age of 11. as for adebayor i dont know his status. all im saying is leave him alone. its none of our business.

seriously i think d film is just too over rated.the way people talk about it like it is one all time film annoys me.it is just a normal storyline we ve known over years so what is the fuss.to think that someone is even callin it a blockbuster!, what the heck?
thingy is people ve low taste for quality.the only thing in the film is just the little funny things there thats all.i didnt even watch for 30mins b4 concludin what it would be.let us be more creative plsssss.kudos to tunde kelani and co(i will watch kosegbe, thunderbbolt, toluwanile etc over and over and over, )jenifa ko,lopezi ni

IS YOUR CAREER AS GOOD AS HERS? yes i called it a blockbuster. it sold mad copies.
TV/Movies › Re: Jenifa the. blockbuster by ladej(m): 1:54pm On Feb 20, 2009
people slow down. first things first this movie is a blockbuster. before you say it isnt you need to understand the meaning of the word blockbuster. blockbuster in movie lingo refers to sales and usually movies which lack technical depth[like hancock which made millions for the studios]. so in these terms it was a blockbuster as it sold a lot of copies in Nigeria and far beyond. technically of course there is room for improvement but i dont think it was poor. entertainment wise it was fabulous. i laughed and enjoyed it thoroughly and at the end a serious message was also portrayed to the listening viewer. funke akindele has good a good job here, of course you cannot compare it to tunde kelani or tade ogidan who are veteran film makers. then again Rome wasnt built in a day. lets be honest in our critisms. there is a reason why they are stars. they are good at their jobs grin
Sports › Re: Mikel Applies For British Citizenship by ladej(m): 1:43pm On Feb 20, 2009
FBS yet again you have impressed me with your thought process. let him be. a lot of posters here in the UK do not realise how highly valued Mikel is to the british economy. how much are they contributing tax wise, patapata it cant pass 20k pounds a year! and Mikel is on 40 grand or thereabouts a week! so how can you expect his immigration criteria to be the same as you when you are contributing peanuts tax wise and you probably came as a student. footballers are of different class, and THEIR SALARIES REFLECT THIS. leave the guy alone. cheesy
Culture › Re: Why Do Nigerians Speak Fake Fune, Especially Outside Nigeria? by ladej(op): 6:10pm On Feb 19, 2009
if they speak clearly and coherently they will be understood. even with the british for example, they complain about regional accents, mancunian accent, irish, scottish, welsh, london. so speaking fake fune wont help matters. i believe in being yourself and not trying to fit in[ you can fit in other ways by dressing right, speaking effective grammar and contributing valuable work to your company]. remember that Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala got to be vice-president of world bank in america, speaking with a pure nigerian accent. so it can be done, and oyinbo people respect you more when you are real. they wont say it to your face but they can tell who's real and who's fake ! wink

Culture › Why Do Nigerians Speak Fake Fune, Especially Outside Nigeria? by ladej(op): 5:39pm On Feb 19, 2009
I hope this hasnt been covered before but WHY DO NIGERIANS SPEAK FAKE FUNE, IM TALKING ABOUT THE ONES IN DIASPORA? it used to be an old joke back in nigeria that some people fake their accents, but to leave you fatherland and pretend to speak differently sounds strange to me. you always know the real accent from the fake ones. i wonder why, is it because they want to fit in, or they are fake, or they are not proud of their own accents?,

Culture › Re: Is It Rude To Speak Your Language Openly In Public? by ladej(m): 5:27pm On Feb 19, 2009
FBS and some others have hit the nail on the head. shouting seems to be the issue here, not speaking your language in public. as for tribes that shout when they talk ibos are as bad as the yorubas. only hausas are slightly less guilty of this when it comes to the major tribes.as for that woman shes an ignoramus, typical over 45 year old british mentality to foreigners. she was bang out of order. language is about the main thing we distinguish ourselves in this fast changing americanised world we live in. im proud of mine and its part of me. however i try to keep it low when discussing in public. grin
Politics › Re: Can A Nigeria Police Refuse Bribe? by ladej(m): 1:19pm On Feb 19, 2009
all you people fighting this issue should just shut up, zip it and throw it away until common sense prevails again.
it is evidently a root cause problem and no one is exempt, from the president to the hawker on the street. most people are corrupt in nigeria. if you say politicians are corrupt i agree. if you say policemen are corrupt, i agree. if you say the citizens who want to cut corners are corrupt, i agree. its not worth fighting or exchanging words about. what should be discussed it how to improve the situation. now only Government with leaders with vision can do this. we as individuals can vent out and voice out and hope that government does something about it. as individuals we also have to change our thinking. i really dont blame the policeman as he has to feed his family. thats not to say that bribery and corruption is right. but if the government trained them right, fed them right, paid them right, valued them right we wont be having this conversation at all. the government is clearly not interested and i hope they do one day. because they are public servants paid by the government, only government can efforce that change as they are the largest salary payers in nigeria. cheesy

@merge- yeah i know its pretty obvious but thats the reason why its also difficult to combat. as for african american men most of them are brain less and delusional compared to other types of men. although this is off point im so happy Obama[a son of an african man won and not a full fledged ignorant african american who doesnt know his roots and looks down on africans]

back to point, u make sense. grin
Family › Re: Nigerian Music Videos Goes Ho-ish. What Is Going On? :(x by ladej(m): 5:32pm On Feb 18, 2009
thanks tolulara for seeing my point. you are right as well. its sending a negative image to the kids, and not everything from america should be embraced back home. we have a rich and unique culture back home which is unrivalled anywhere else. lets protect it. if we should borrow then lets borrow the good things, not bad. also parents, SPEND TIME WITH YOUR KIDS. DONT BLAME D BANJ FOR MESSING THEM UP, HES JUST AN ENTERTAINER. a word is enough,
Family › Re: Nigerian Music Videos Goes Ho-ish. What Is Going On? :(x by ladej(m): 5:17pm On Feb 18, 2009
@poster- you wont be the first to talk about this so your statement 'if no one speaks about it, how will folks be aware of a problem we have' is factually incorrect. if i remember sometime within Bush's administration, even Clinton's there was a congressional hearing on the state of rap videos, violence and nudity or near nudity in the videos. nothing got done about it. so dont say no one has spoken about it, cos apparently a lot have. what did the networks do? Mtv just moved the randy videos later than usual[which partially addressed the problem i spoke about, cos if kids are up late and still watching randy videos then its the parents fault].

the truth is that this is now a multi-million dollar industry, and as with all multi-million dollar industries like cigarettes, alcohol, etc WHAT WE SAY DOESNT MATTER AS LONG AS GOVERNMENT IS MAKING MONEY FROM TAXES. i am not ignorant, just seeing it from a different perspective doesnt make me ignorant. it just makes me different from you. the networks including BET show it cos it makes them money. when it comes to money morality always take a backseat. im not saying its right either, just offering a different opinion. grin
Family › Re: Nigerian Music Videos Goes Ho-ish. What Is Going On? :(x by ladej(m): 4:08pm On Feb 18, 2009
this discussion about women looking HO-ish in videos will never end. what i say is if you dont like it change the channel. it may sound harsh but what one cannot control ,one should not bother about too much. the video producers set the tone and creative concept for the video, which is accepted or refused by the artiste. jobs are then created for these girls who will be paid to dance and strut their stuff. what i say and always say is if there's no demand supply disappears. if people refused to watch those videos[which is monitored through tv network ratings] they wont be available. as a wife, mother, and woman i understand your concern but my advice is for you to shield yourself and family by not watching. end of!

i feel i should lend my voice and thoughts to this thread from a married man with a gorgeous daughter's perspective. i feel help is always needed especially with the ladies after having kids. we men have nothing to lose, we never have to sacrifice anything in life like women do. we never have to choose between career or family so we should be supportive of whether housemaids/nanny/day care is the preferred option. if the woman doesnt want to work or have a career then fine. support her if you are loaded enough to. the women who insist that they dont need help, im sorry to say are usually fat, unattractive and not HAWT. to be HAWT after having kids you have to have time for yourself, work out, do ur hair, sleep well etc, u dont have to be omotola or genevieve to do this, even without much money you can. i repeat you need all the help you can get to find time for your husband, yourself, and your children. there are risks in everything[even you can damage your child by accident] so just do some research and pray that the help adds a blessing to your family and not a curse. God help us all. grin
