Politics › Re: Support The Call For Jonathan's Resignation by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 11:52am On Jan 27, 2012
Good Morning All. It is Friday grin
I too have "personal" reservations for GEJ from his ascendancy to VP under Yar-Adua to his grovelling days as Acting President (second Acting President in the History of the World) to his leaked weaknesses in governing Nigeria on Wiki-leaks to his present Critically-Acclaimed BUFFOON Status presently.

But let us step back a bit and review the History, Circumstances and Environment that sustains GEJ till this present day.
1: A King is not supreme without his advisers -GEJ is nothing without his Team of Special Advisers (A poor bunch really)
2: You cannot ignore the influence of "The Cabal" - Power-players like OBJ, TY Danjuma, Governor's Forum, Oil Marketers, Ex-Presidents
3: You also cannot ignore the Political/Economic/Religious interest groups in this country with their own selfish agenda, undermining each step GEJ makes with his shoeless feet.

GEJ is a child of circumstances (with no shoes) thus he is hardly in control of the peculiarly "Nigerian" circumstance he finds himself in. or can we ignore the fact that he was pushed back n 'forth, spoon-fed and led to the seat he presently occupies with little conviction from the man himself. Unfortunately he has made his strategy to obvious to his enemies - He has none. Politically bereft in the art of politics, highly impoverish in the exercise of tact and diplomacy and sorely lacking in public confidence and support. However GEJ has a spectacularly robust cabinet of online and offline sycophants and jati-jati people who continue to befog his senses and ability to be proactive and run-down his capacity to act decisively in matters that require ACTION instead of Facebook comments.

@ frosbel,

I Iike ur response. I was also thinking along the same lines.

And as been rightly said. . . If their beef was with the police, why go after innocent civilians, and the bombings of churches. Also, why are tĦey advocating an islamized Nigeria (in their dreams though :p) By doing these, tĦey sĦouldn't expect to receive any sympathy.

TĦey are blood thirsty b**tards, and tĦey have no case.
@frosbel and nanidee, If they targeted the Police alone, do you think they would have had this much impact? have you not heard about terrorist warfare tactics, when the enemy is beyond your means to fight toe-to-toe, you go for his balls and squeeze. The only way Terrorists fight is by killing en-masse to ensure fear is propagated at all levels and confidence is lost in constitutionally installed Security agencies (not that we have that much faith in them anyway). At this stage of the BH evolution one can confidently say they have had extra training in the making of improvised explosives. heaven-forbid they get their hands on some nuclear-based condiment to make a dirty bomb. FG Security agencies will have more than coke and fanta explosions on their hands cry I

Why is everyone concentrating on GEJ - This problem has been accommodated since the time of Awolowo and Co. through all our past leaders over the space of 51 years. now you want to blame a man who has no shoes about Nigeria's problems - you have the culprits still living among you - hailed as heroes and given national awards. Ba@#$tards. it is beyond a GEJ problem right now. sadly our religious leaders who should sacrifice their time and effort to this matter are worried about how subsidies have impacted on their congregation's capacity to tithe

This is why I feel people in positions of influence especially when it has to do with sensitive ethnic and religious issues, should gather their thoughts before the speak.
I agree the BH menace must be dealt with conclusively but this is definitely out of order for a leader who influences possibly millions of Christians in Nigeria. This critically-acclaimed buffoon is riling his congregation into a frenzy of hate and worse inciting distracted Boko-Haramist to look his way. Badshop Oyedepo, This is not a Witch-Slapping matter you can manage within the confines and insecuritysecurity of Lagos. You comments will definitely touch the right nerves and those nerves will visit further fatal violence on innocent Christians anywhere BH can reach without inconvenience. I am sure you do not have the power to pray for protection of the innocents that are potential BH victims arising from your remarks.

It is my personal opinion that a good Majority of Christian Nairalanders are simply side-walk Christians not Disciplined and Truly Devoted Christians. It is evident from the several threads and posts. only a few notable Christians contribute with a sense of having thought through a post and respond with maturity, open-mindedness and a honest attempt at understanding issues without resorting to hurling Hell and Damnation (all done in good faith) at False Prophets and Back-sliding Men of God. But why is the OP worried. This sort of situation was prophesied centuries ago before the death of Jesus. so why the surprise. they deserved to be assaulted with abusive words of the worst kind. The Worst Criminal is the kind who hides behind the veil of Holiness to commit grave crimes. Jesus calls them Wolves in Sheep's Clothing

He has been in Government from April 2011 in that time they have been able to come up with all these issues and identified what their action plan needs to be. You might not agree with their decision but a plan be it 30day 100day in office plan has happened.
Hurrah!! Score one for FG huh going by the present activity, it seems the Action Plan (Pre/Post-Implementation) was an after-thought. Surely you are not referring to the SURE initiative (Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme). chief concern is that it only addresses what the money will be SPENT ON. There is no evidence that shows
1: Feasibility: Still Nigeria is not a unique or sophisticated economy, I would love to see what FG has put in place to ensure SURE works as it should. simply saying it is what FG has been doing for the past 30-50 years. Unless you have forgotten the Ajaoukuta Steel mess. or the $16 billion Bermuda Triangle Power Project during OBJ's tenure
2: Transparency: Saying who and how you will appoint people does not indicate what Institutional Frameworks you have put in place to ensure that these officials act in a manner that does not undermine the SURE initiative. surely you have not forgotten the trend with corrupt ex-governors (now free).
3: Sustainability: FG has not shown how it plans to make SURE a legacy.

Please if you have access to detailed SURE Master-plan covering the themes above, I would sure love to read it. It is a Public Initiative right.

Uyi Iredia:
Okay. What do you suppose the excess money comes from ?
Was there an excess in the first place  huh or are we working with inflateddistorted figures wink

At this point, 50+ years after, it is difficult to reconcile figures from the Federal Government with the economic realities of the past 20-30 years. IMHO, we (National Institutions) have a culture of distorting numbers to undermine Governance and sustain an Eco-system of Corruption (in every sense of the word) be it Election results, Satellites in space, costs of hosting a sports festival, Population figures, Government contracts, Revenue from the sale of crude or something as simple as costs of daily meals for the Office of the President; an economy that truly defies explanation  grin

There will always be gaps that cannot be explained away as academic anomalies, the presence of implausible figures leaves room for plausible assumptions -- CORRUPTION

NEPA (of yore) once published an account of spending for the month and unwittingly exposed high-levels of corruption: laptops for executives bought for N1 million when the same model on the market was nowhere near N100k  grin. It is a striking phenomena that has trailed previous administrations since that past 3-decades; the use of economic reforms and policies (that have been proven to work in similar economies as ours)  to induce heavy government-spending with little or zero results and (strikingly common) no plans for sustainability (popularly known as maintenance-culture, now referred to as Continuity). Unfortunately the impact of failure is hardly felt at Government levels. As long as Oil dollars continue flowing (regardless the amount) only the massive (internal) micro-economies and the private sector struggle to adjust to such failures.

You know a Government Policy is bound for failure when Pre-conditions for a successful execution have not been addressed first or at best; planned as "post-implementation activities" (typically "High-cost" palliative measures that cannot be sustained either). A sad reality is that "Economists" such as Sanusi Lamido and Iweala and FEC work on a simple analogy - Stick an injection into a sick patient and the illness is cured - whether the patient is in the right condition for the drug or how he will react is not up for discussion. after-all it is Nigerians we are talking about, we thrive under such conditions  grin
Politics › Re: Jarus You Are A Fooooool For Putting Tinubu And Sanusi In Nairaland Hall Of Fame by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 1:40pm On Jan 05, 2012
I think for such a thing as a Hall of Famer a minimun of 50+ votes are needed by each entrant. how can you count 5-8 people as a nomination. It is surely not representative of the lot of Nairalanders. I think it should also be restricted to posters over 1000 in that section. A Hall-Of-Famer is not light-work as we have now made it look. I can almost say it is similar to GEJ's awards of GCON, OFN and the other bullsh.it National Awards. Nairaland should not go in that direction

Unfortunately at least 95% of Nigerians do not have that luxury of time - most of us on Nairaland have cry they will be long gone and forgotten - 6ft under. f'course the so-called leaders of this unpopular reform will be living fat off their huge allowances and would have moved on to other things - like a long-term Crude-Petrol Contract with other nations so they refine our crude and ship back petrol - Holy sh.iit. it is already on the tables shocked
Politics › Re: 1600 Buses To Be Deployed Nation Wide by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 8:53pm On Jan 04, 2012
Regardless of whether the latest move looks good, it is not sustainable - it will fail and it will only raise the operating costs further causing the FG to spend more to sustain it. in the end, it will not lower the cost of transportation neither will it reduce the burden of subsidies removal. as usual the government has completely undermined its own initiatives by putting the cart before the horse. Launching Satellites into space then commencing on training engineers to manage it, duh! removing subsidies, then considering palliatives to ease the burden, should this not have been thought of before. the first sign that your government is bobboing you is that they never have a proactive plan, everything is an after-thought so that it fails and they can try it again and again and again - why are we having the 4th Identity card Scheme. $ billions  after. I am sure they will come with brand new finger-printing machines like the ones used for the elections, I hate my leaders - worse I hate my religious leaders more  tongue
Politics › Re: When Will There Be A Mass Protest Against Corruption? by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 6:06pm On Jan 04, 2012
A stand against Corruption might be the responsibility of all, it remains in the hands of a few United and Heavily Funded Secret Militant Group that is well-trained and highly connected to some disgruntled forces e.g Buhari or Atiku and key (highly placed) members of the Armed Forces and the implicit agreement of Super-power nations like the US, Britain and China (where they totally hate criminals and executed corrupt public office holders)

With this Secret Group. The following must be targeted for immediate assassination
1: Compromised nembers of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air-Force)
2: Compromised members of the Monarchy (There  goes the entire Chiefs, Sultans and Obas in Nigeria)
3: Compromised Governors and Deputy Governors (Families inclusive)
4: Ministers of key Sectors (Transport, Energy, Petroleum, and Defence)
5: All members of the Senate and House of Representatives (Leave none standing)

Talk as much as we must - it will still remain talk all for the purpose of self-education not Political Awareness nor Democratic Freedom. Until we get off our seats and take ACTION on the Corrupt Public Officials of this Corrupt Nation (North/South, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, CHristian/Muslim) nothing will happen - we will continue to descend into this great pit where our present and future generations will rot into history while the past generations enjoy the loot.
