shocked Frankly I am surprised that posters have considered this (IMHO) crude and opinionated comment (from a personality who obviously has a political agenda of sorts) so strongly they have proceeded to demonstrate bile, intolerance and utter hatred for each other on a public forum.

I see a lot of respected posters on this thread and I am lost for words at the way we have thrown reason into the winds and are desperately clutching at the straws of tribalism, religion and ignorance to argue a simple criticism - haba!! whether is is couched crudely or has sentiments attached or directed at eliciting an equally negative response is not the matter here. we should recognize that Politics is always a dirty game - that is its nature. We must learn to see beyond the slurs and ignore incidents that do not contribute to the bigger picture in a positive way. Negativism is the sister of immaturity - these two only serve to propagate the same blissful ignorance our founding fathers have planted more than 50 years ago.

We must recognize the facts on ground and deal with them for the moment - discounting past-events that have been overtaken by history, political amnesia and public dis-interest. We must focus on what to do now and tomorrow - not argue and fight and curse like it is going to change anything for the better angry

grin  grin  grin Femi Fani-Kayode has the unenviable record of knowing exactly what Fmr. President Olusegun Obasanjo means when he says I am going into the toilet to Shiite.  grin  grin

OBJ: Sir Kay. I am going into the toilet to Shiite, after which I will bomb Odi and wipe out everybody. relay the message to Nigerians
Fani-Kay: The President is having a cup of tea after which he intends to speak with the elders of the Odi Community as a demonstration of his enormous goodwill in spite of what has happened. He loves the Odi people and has recommended that the Military be posted there to prevent further violence to the Odi people from re-occuring, as we speak, the Military have carried Christmas hampers to share to the good-natured Odi people  grin  grin

We should learn to ignore buffoons by simply not making a rebuttal - it dignifies their apparent idiocy and brings us to the same level. It also applies to Nairalanders who display similar behavior wink

1. Let there be national conference

politicians. 2. Let there be introduction of
tradition: the use of confirmed JUJU to
swear by all politicians before
appointment

I really do agree with you.no matter how strong a born again a nigerian claims to be,he fears juju more than God.if we can replace the bible with a well prepared hex pot,i'm sure our sworn-in politicians would be more honest,

Let us not make this an ethnic affair (as usual) it affects all Nigerians in a very negative way - perceptions people have about you can affect a whole Nation - ask the Germans or better yet, Ask Nigerians  angry Making it a tribal (yes Tribal is not a bad word as some of our "intelligent" nairalanders have put forward tongue)affair only just proves how stupid/divided/bigoted we are
Business › Re: CAC To Register Businesses In 48 Hours - Aganga by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 10:31am On Feb 07, 2012
I don't know about posters who claim they are unable to register a business in the UK or US within 2 hours - I did, all legal and all online, all i needed was a UK address (Which I got by registering for a virtual office with a registered phone line). Company Registration simply verified the address and put a call through. the rest was all filed and processed within 2 hours. got my business registered with physical documentation and tax registration within 3 days.

Our Public Officials are very fond of talking big and making empty promises. Aganga must show that he truly understands the challenges of CAC and also show how he plans to practically achieve this 48hr benchmark.

CAC is a Ministry and like most ineffectual Federal Ministries they usually demonstrate the following
1: Poor Staff Training and Education: If you have been to CAC, you will not blame your lawyer for taking soo long in filing an application and doing a business name search. It is a painfully slow process, punctuated by bureaucracies and laziness or sometimes a lack of quick reasoning between the different points your documentation has to go. in one case, a Staff simply did not want to handle her colleagues files because she was on leave. It took a bit of hand-washing to get her to even take a look at it.
2: Lack of Technology integration: CAC has had a platform since 2004. It came online but did not fulfill the obvious intention of having people register online. The manual process continued - I don't know if they have resurrected the project (hence Aganga's big talk)
3: Racketeering at various levels: In any Government Ministry where you find unduly slow processes, you can bet there exists a lot of profit from collecting bribes and monies way above the approved duties.

I am not a cynic but usually when the Cart is put before the Horse, we can effectively say the rider is just Bull-shiiiiting! grin

It is comments like this that make me want to stay away from Nairaland.
Comments like this make conclude that Nigeria has not future since her citizens debate with feelings more than with reasons.

Is BOKO HARAM ready to proclaim "fatwa" on any body percieved to be their enemy? yes. Wole Soyinka has proved he is not Boko's friend.

Is Jonathan as brutal as OBJ, IBB, Buhari, Abacha an other misfits we have managed tp produce as Heads of State?
Beaf:
It is hard to understand why any grown up would make such a despicable and evil statement. You might deslike GEJ, but don't let that drag you into the gutter. We all have brains, lets learn to use them.

Disgusting.
grin  grin  grin

You forget the world's largest Political party (My Party BTW) also hosts membership of the worlds longstanding convicted criminals in the history of mankind. most have even become (elected) Governors  grin

I repeat, indeed I insist that there is a nest of killers within the PDP. From Ngige's recent experience, the well laid plans for his ultimate fate, it is evident that the vipers in that nest do not strike only outwards but inwards.

I repeat my warning that even you also once extended to me, in one of your rare moments of selflessness and genuine concern for others: Watch your back!

Wole Soyinka

And somehow 150+ million Nigerians seem to believe that this class of intelligent-looking buffoons deserve their positions and fat salaries 50yrs on. It seems we are the fools not the corrupt elite

Lagos state police PRO--08065541997. (Samuel Jinodu). Is a good guy someone might need his number
I will like to suggest something. let us call (let me call Lagos State Police PRO) and invite him to Nairaland for a session on

1: What are the unique challenges facing the NPF in Lagos (we all know the obvious challenges - Funding, Education, Training, Social Skills, Integrity)
2: At a State Level, what is Lagos State Police doing about it, what is their strategy on Fighting Crime while managing a damaging reputation for Corruption and Violence on civilians

I think that is a start, any suggestions

Can't we be supportive for once to solve situations rathr than criticise every good effort we see? Your pessimism isn't needed right now
You are right though. but going over the history of people who have come to report cases to the police and got thrown in cells. i think his pessimism is well placed. There is a newspaper story from years back that told of a Police Commissioner who decided to go out in Mufti to checkup on how the Police were performing and he was arrested for a non-bookable offense (suspicious ID card) and when he refused to "settle", he was taken to the Station and the story changed into resisting arrest, insulting/assaulting a police officer. at this point he showed his real ID card and everyone scampered for safety. the entire station was empty for fear of Sack grin

I sometimes wonder why as a people (1 love) we hardly ever ask questions of the government about issues that impact on our lives tremendously. Let us excuse the Military Era. it has been at least 15 yrs since "Democracy". Are you saying that it was never on the tables to form a strategy before MASSOB, OPC, MEND, Bakassi, Maitasine, Boko-Haram huh What has the SSS, DMI,Police and Military forces been doing all these while with the huge budget allocated for Security?

That aside, the food has been served and found distasteful angry do we add salt to taste (Compromise The Constitution for Peace) or do we throw-away the food and start all over again (Let Boko-Haram have their way)

True but Boko-Haram as with modern terrorism thrive in a sense of Decentralization so this is actually a dangerous move. how many groups will GEJ have to negotiate with, protect Nigerians from - you see why you have to kill a Cancer when it is a benign tumor - now that it is a full-blow cancer and spreading (dividing and multiplying) - you must act now and decisively- - not making facebook comments angry
