MEND, however, seems to have an answer to the puzzle. Its spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, said yesterday that the group was aware that huge payments had been made to some criminal gangs in Delta State as "protection fee."

"From our knowledge, the NNPC disbursed over $25 million (N2 billion) for the scam, which was shared by the top commanders of the military Joint Task Force, senior government officials in Delta State Governor's Office, top management staff in the NNPC."
what a country!!!!

i was right in my post:
THAT money was paid is no longer in contention. But the purpose for which it was paid and to whom are now the subject of debate.

While NNPC has admitted that money was paid but only to secure a pipeline and actually paid to a local registered company, the foremost militant group in the Niger Delta, MEND, has argued that the money was paid to unscrupulous elements pretending to be agitators while part of it was shared by government officials.

Indeed, according to MEND, what the NNPC paid was more than the reported N1.4 billion.

what a revelation,  a lesson to all others. Trust Nigeria at your own peril.

"As it is now, I would even advise any athlete that has the opportunity to change his or her nationality to do so, because Nigeria is not worth dying for, Ajunwa

1996 Olympic gold medallist, Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara, has said that though she have had a fulfilled life in athletics, she would ever regret retiring from the sport prematurely.
Ajunwa, who is also a police superintendent with Zone 2 Command in Lagos, further dropped a bombshell, saying that she would ever regret her decision not to join the like of Gloria Alozie and Francis Obikwelu to change her nationality.
Speaking to Daily Sunsport in Lagos recently, Ajunwa said she would have still been in active sports if she had changed her nationality. She stressed that Nigeria does not know how to take care of her stars.

My honest view is and will still be is that Soludo who has marked a niche for himself in the CBN and indeed Nigeria by ensuring that the days of failed banks are sure over,
are you serious?

Banks and like everything else in life also fail or die. in US alone about 47banks have failed this year.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation reported last week that banks in Colorado, Florida and Texas, with assets totaling more than $263 million, have failed recently, bringing the number of failures this year to 47.
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9A0DE3DB1E3EF934A15756C0A960948260

Nigeria has recovered the MONEY illegal taken by Soludo to this AFC. We are waiting to get the interest back.

EFFORTS by the Federal Government to unravel the circumstances leading to Nigeria's multi-million dollar investment in Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) may have begun to record some success as the presidential committee set up to investigate the agency's affairs yesterday disclosed that it had recovered the sum of $462,923 million invested in it by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Nigeria has been preaching privatisation so CBN or FG has no business investing in AFC.
If soludo is serious let him talk to the banks, oil companies and OBJ to invest in it and not some sudo-financial vehicle to siphon our money.

nothing NEW.

OBJ started 'operation feed the nation in 77, the only thing he fed was his belly.

Sagari started 'green revolution in 79, rather than turn GREEN, Nigerian turned BROWN.

IBB started 'people bank', the money ended in 'ibb-boys bank'

OBJ started again 'NEED', the nation ended-up in Darkness

We should leave this useless body.

Germans(EU) which nearly wiped-out UK benefits more than Nigerians who contributed so much(colonial wealth) to the queen.

As africans we should learn to seek BENEFIT for our people. It is that simple.

As a minimum condition to remain in COMMONWEALTH; I expect 6-month work FREE-VISA for such citizens within each others territory.

6. You need a good car. Apart from the fact that a car is a practical necessity, in Nigeria, a good car is a business necessity. My mother in law once told me that when your business host decides to see you to the door, it is possible that he wants to have a glimpse of your car. This may sway his decision on whether to do business with you or not.

What I have experienced is that a good car literally opens the gate to company premises and can secure a good car parking space. Even the police put themselves in check when they see a good car.

In the early days, I often went around in hired taxis. I once went for an important meeting at the premises of a large organisation. On that occasion, I had this very old red golf taxi. The driver lived locally and I use him often. Although he charges an arm and a leg, he was full of humour and has a positive outlook on life.

I arrived for my appointment with less than five minutes to spare but on the other side of the road. I decided to come out of the car and cross the road whilst he navigates the traffic and turn to wait for me. I informed the security guard that the car that brought me was on its way and should be allowed to park, to which he obliged. As I was about to enter the building, I noticed the driver had somehow managed to turn and was approaching the gate, I quickly dashed back to inform the guard. He did a head-to-toe survey of me, looked at the car and politely informed me that they do not allow this type of car in their premises.
very interesting. No wonder, armed robber, corruption and craze for everyone to make it BIG still high in Nigeria.

what am i saying? Lets give arik a chance. there is no need overflogging the safety issue. the airline is SAFE!!!!
thats what you say but from orginal you can forecast to some extent the future of things.

Besides I have flown foreign airlines even for local trips abroad. their services( including the planes) are not that better than the nigerian ones!!
you making big mistake like others: The world is made of system + processes.

It is not just buying BRAND new plane from stolen.

can you be sure the guy who suppose to check the planes doing his job?

can you be sure the Pilots are well mannered to follow the full procedure?

even all the air-accidents in NIGERIA, all they told us, it was some BLOOD SUCKING occult responsible.

its cancer, sooner or later it will get into ARIK.
TravelRe: Arik Air Begins Lagos-london Flight November, Will You Use The Service? by landis(m): 7:48am On Jul 22, 2008
The british airwaste and other foreign airlines that ''float your boat and unwring your boxers'', do u care to know how thay came about and how they managed to survive that long?? its the sense of patrotism from their countries that sustained them till date if u don't know
if patrotism is your concern, let them revive Nigeria Airways. And ensure right people get the job and follow world-class safety standard.

if they stole money(greedy, blood-money) to form ARIK, when profit start coming or when they start making loss, the same greed will ruin them.
It is that simple.

It is just a matter of fact; the bonding between them(ARIK owners) is not to PROVIDE EXCELLENT Service but where to invest their stolen money.

that said. Good Luck to whoever wants to fly them.

Detroit was once the symbol of America's industrial power; the birthplace of Ford, the assembly line and the home of GM. But now it feels more like a ghost town littered with abandoned buildings.

In 1913 Detroit was booming but when the Great Depression hit, this abruptly ended. Between 2006 and 2008 four of GM's plants in Michigan closed, and more than 15,000 are homeless in the city. "There's no work in Michigan, all you see is vacant houses" explains one homeless resident. As industries move to areas with cheaper labour, former assembly line workers and buildings are left useless.

I have been to La campagne Tropicana beach Resort. My experience was different. They explained to me the services that go along with the booking and the ones that attracts extra charges. I personally did not have problems with that. I enjoyed my self with my family. In fairness to them the services was'nt that bad, and the concept is out of this world. Of course, there is always room for improvement. It is totally unfair for you to write them off because you have a disagreement over services paid for or not paid for, which might have been as a resulted of misconception.
can you tell us exactly what you enjoyed? their services, the cleaniless, the politeness, the quality, the food etc

I knew it and you confirmed it. You want to use 'visitors visa' to work?

Thats called 'illega job' and you constitute 'the people' they do not want in their country because you deprive the GOVT of taxes which they use to do all those things that make Germany a nice place to visit or leave.

If you looking for job, why dont you search in spain; they have job visa for africans for 6months.
