Well I think some comments here show that having a good mastery of English Language does not make one intelligent contrary to our general belief. Let's think outside the box on this issue shall we? Arabic as a language is the different from the study of Islam. Even though Arabic is the language of Islam there are millions of native Arabic speakers who are non-muslims. In Africa, after English and French, Arabic is the third most popular foreign language recognized by the African Union so if English as our official language is made compulsory and we are given a choice of learning French or Arabic it is to our advantage dear. Have you ever tried to apply for a UN or some other intergovernmental organizations jobs before? If you have then you will agree with me that your ability to speak another foreign language plus English gives you an edge! If as a bigot you can't learn Arabic try French and leave others to learn Arabic. No one is Islamizing a country by introducing Arabic study which totally differs from Islamic studies. udumosam23: |

Now you see why Virgin Atlantic feels the engagement of bilingual Nigerian crew isn't any longer necessary? That's because you are crazy with English Language as you have just demonstrated here. I bet if the guy you picked up his error made that error in any of Nigerian Languages it wouldn't have bothered you but English I pity una Walahi! ramalot: |
I just read each of the pages of this thread. Someone has actually won the game...there is a comment somewhere without a single like and no one even noticed! |
It's really obvious neither of the two candidates interests you that's why your text focused just on APC with not even a mention of PDP. Bro learn how to pretend to sit on fence next time. godoluwa: |
Seems harsh but you are so on point bro! searching4love: |
Following the news going round in Ilorin regarding clash between cult groups in which more than 16 lives have so far been lost, men of the Nigerian Police Force have capitalised on this to brutalise and extort innocent citizens at will. I am a victim of such shameful acts thus I deem it necessary to sensitise people around the city. I was at a bar around airforce base Oloje Ilorin west Local Govt Area yesterday to relax and watch the champions league playoff between Manchester United and Club Brugge when police officers numbering about seven stormed the bar at about 7pm and placed everyone at the bar under arrest including three underaged sons of the owner of the bar. One of the policemen officer Alade by name who is a frequent customer of the bar was one of them and we were all arrested at gun point a scenario which had a close resemblance with an armed robbery attack. We arrived at the Division G Police station around 7.30 pm and were kept behind the counters till 9pm without any form of questioning. They raided two more places including a football viewing centre arresting more than thirty people. I asked one of the police guys what our offence was and the next thing he said was that "na u be the activist abi". All the officers were so rude and very unprofessional. We were there till late night without any form of searching nor interrogation then the DPO ordered that we all got locked up. Some of us who were with our ID tried to show them but they cared not. While we were there a young man came to report a serious violence going on around okoolowo area but they refused to take any action and immediately the guy left the useless officers started saying " if u arrest people for that side nobody go come bail them" I shook my head and wondered how much injuries could have been sustained and how many lives could be lost as a result of the violence which these mofos are taking with a pinch of salt But for the timely intervention of the owner of the bar where we were arrested who had to cough out a sum of 30,000 naira to bail the 15 of us arrested we would all have spent the night in their cell. As a matter of fact, two of the three underaged sons of the owner of the bar had been taking to the cell before the DPO could be settled though they were later set free. The other folks who were not that lucky to get bailed were all locked up and only God knows their fate now. My worry is what is the fate of innocent citizens who have to run away from criminals and at the same time double their speed at the sight of policemen? How were they sure they had not set criminals who probably were amongst us free after receiving 30k? These same DPO would go on national dailies to claim that they had made some arrest following the cult clash with the public not knowing that they were only serving their pockets. My advice is if you are resident in Ilorin try as much as u can to stay at home and save yourself from being a victim of police brutality coz they have no life and they don't mind to ruin yours. I do hope one day the government will see a reason to save harmless people from the useless men in black. Meanwhile I pray that all the police officers who earn their daily living by making life difficult for innocent people meet their Waterloo much sooner. Thanks for your time folks. |
Hi guys I am just battling with what I call a dilema of choice. I hold a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Political Science, I am now faced with a problem of deciding weather to proceed on a Phd in Political Science or start an undergraduate Law degree. I am currently running a business of my own thus I am not working neither have I ever worked with my certificates (I'm doing ok though). I feel a bit out of touch with academic environment which I so much love and really want to get back to school. I already purchased and processed a direct entry form for LLB and the postgraduate form in my chosen Uni is fast approaching deadline. I just feel that insofar I am not teaching, I should just forget about Phd for now and try if a Law degree would add greater value to my life. Any useful of advice please? |

[quote author=nairaman66 post=32591755]There is no point knowing that PDP will loose it again. However, credit must be given to GEJ for accepting defeat! For once, he proved to be a gentleman and a wise one Why is Nigeria the only country where people get unnecessary accolades for they should normally do? How many people praised George Bush who despite his support for John McCain did not only congratulate Obama but also invited him to the White House shortly after he was declared winner, remember McCain himself did the same too! In any sane democracy which we claim to operate in Nigeria GEJ has only acted in the same democratic spirit which only a mad man will refuse to do. So I refuse to see him as a messiah for this singular action having misadministered the country for about 6 years |

Sorry about this bro! I had the same problems with my birds in December...funny enough none of the dead birds looked sick at any point, i would just find the dead in the morning. I'm not an expert in any way but based on the advice I received which eventually kept the remaining chickens alive I would recommend that you try Comflux (antibiotics) and you may not necessarily follow the dossage prescribed on the drug i.e you may want to double-dose the drug for them as the infection may have gone too deep in them. That's what I did and they stopped dying. The only effect of double-dosing them is that their production will drop sharply at some point but they will be fine few days later. I would recommend cleaning the pen but I have to say that when I was going through this trial I lost at least a bird a day after cleaning the pen (maybe coincidence though). Above all pray that God lays hand on them, that's important! |
I will go for broom. Regardless of what it looks like or what is called in advanced countries we all need something to keep our house and surrounding clean. As for umbrella, it's not completely useless but not having one doesn't have as much effect as not having broom. You can stay at home when it's raining or be in your car, you can hide somewhere waiting for the rain to subside or you can even walk in the rain. If however you insist that an umbrella is as important as a bunch of broom I will ask you to check out a very windy raining condition where your umbrella loses it's usefulness it happens in Nigeria and of course it happens quite often in France where I live. I rest my case |

babadee1:Spot on bro!!! Jah Bless. I have a copy of my statement of result from my secondary school issued 15 years ago. It's in the same format. The name of the principal isn't there apart from his signature. I pity those PDP fellows who are hellbent to ruin this great nation just for one selfish gain or the other. God bless GMB our president in waiting |
Cute papa and son! Wait, no be their house key dey him neck so? Abeg ping the little boy make the key for nor loss |
@op. First of all you were not deported but removed from the UK and it may interest you that deportation doesn't mean the same thing as administrative removal. When you were placed in the detention centre did you purchase your flight ticket yourself or the a Home Office got it for you? You can apply for a UK visa after 1 year if you purchased your own flight ticket provided you meet the visa condition and I assure you that your case would be treated in its own merit. However if home office purchased your ticket you will have to wait for 5 years not 10 years. Regarding your chance of traveling elsewhere, your only problem is the Republic of Ireland. You should be fine with other countries coz your were not a criminal that got deported but an immigration offender that got removed |
Badt boys.....well bronze medal isn't bad at least I've had two golds in my bag already. @ the topic, repatriating illegal immigrant is a good move however we should follow the footsteps of the UK in ensuring that those that are legally in the country don't take jobs that nationals can do. I met a guy from Pakistan in London sometimes ago who couldn't pass a diploma course but boasted to me about how he didn't only have the luxury of changing goods jobs when he was in Nigeria but also bossed our graduates and had fun with lots of our girls |
freshprincex49: you took the words out of my mouth. The Poor grammar by most under graduates is embarrassing and they flaunt their badly constructed sentences all over the place thinking it is fashionable. Nobody is above mistake, YES. But when it becomes a habit, then it calls for concern.Yo young man! You are seeking attention right? I bet you read this up to 10 times before you submitted it...Even though you tried to avoid errors, a good reader of English text can tell how incoherent you can be and how tough it's gonna be for you to produce 1000-word essay without grammatical blunders. |
