You should be asking ICPC and the rest of the Police forces where they were. Ribadu was one man with limited staff to pursue every criminal in Nigeria. Where he started, others should have followed. Back in the 70s Nigerians traveled abroad enjoying respect and dignity everywhere they went, and could obtain Visas at the Airports upon arrival easily. Now we get treated like criminals and suspects at first sight until we prove ourselves worthy of better treatment. Where is our Jerry Rawlings? Guess what? We do not have one, we have Ribadu instead.

It is very depressing to know that Nigeria is full of cowards who know what is right but will stand by idly while evil fosters around them. Cre8tivity is nothing but a crook or a beneficiary of crooks and ehie likewise must have a close relative or friend that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu caught in crime. Who are these people fooling? Considering that the whole world recognized that Ribadu made a difference in Nigeria speaks for itself in the better credit rating that Nigeria got and the improved image as well. There have been some unsubstantiated allegations against Ribadu that he has responded intelligently to and even counter-challenged those who accused him to provide open evidence to the media to prove a case against him.

It is a shame to watch Nigeria deteriorate again after Ribadu has made a gallant effort. ICPC had always been there to go after the so-called others that Ribadu did not pursue, for those who keep alleging that he didn't go after the others. The fact still remain that he went after thieves. What is going on Nigeria? why are we being shackled by a few thieves stealing away our progress and wealth? here are some hypocrites trying to smear the man's name in mud to substantiate their criminality or those of their associates. Have you found the Attorney General or Waziri refuting the claims being made by Sahara Reporters or challenging anyone to prove those claims?

Nigerians who seek hope for their country should right now be focused or organizing themselves together for a public upheaval against corruption and standing firm with Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as their Icon of representation. We should all e in the streets and have the National assembly surrounded to grasp back the power of the people. We should be unafraid of their Criminal Police coming out to shoot us, but have the World press around us to show the world what they try to do to us. We should also be willing to die for our cause.

We have seen the Orange revolution, we have recently seen Thailand and how people power worked. Many of us here signed the petition against Arogundade who beat up the young Lady on the streets of Lagos, but we are only starting. If we have to give up our lives for a cause, I think the most important cause should be our Nation. Ribadu has done his own, and may rise again one day. But he has definitely gone down in History as a lone man who stood up against the Nigerian mafia who have decided that they own the country and have the right to steal our resources. But what is life really all about? We have been born to die. This is unavoidable. However, what counts about life is what we have done while we have it and what we are willing to achieve to give it up. Ribadu has done his own, and I will forever remember the Brother. I will hold him in high esteem for his courage, regardless of the faults some people point at. I will rally behind strong and righteous leadership, who will be willing to put it all in-line to bring back Nigeria to the people. 

For the thieving people who will never see any good in the likes of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, I will tell you this:

For each life that was lost on dilapidated roads who's funding for repairs were stolen by the corrupt;
For each innocent person that has suffered persecution from criminal looters who will go to any means to preserve their lifestyles;
For the Lack of development that has entrenched the Nigerian masses in poverty and the lack of a substantial Middle class;
For each child, man or woman who has lost their lives because of inadequate health care in country well blessed by God with natural resources;
May the Spirits of our forefathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, and children turn them around to see the errors of their ways and make them repentant by returning all looted funds back to the people. And if they choose to continue in their ways, may they and their offsprings be plagued by incurable diseases that will have them suffer pain and a slow death. May their names be trodden in mud and act as deterrence for potential thieves and looters on the future.

I'm willing to stay at home, prepare food for my wife, raise our kids and always look good for my wife. As long as I can spend 1/3 of the money she makes shopping and buying stuff to make me look good. I also only need 2 vacations anywhere in the world every year alone. Any fine and strong wife out there for me?

Dude, are you sure you really want to stop this? From my experience since returning to Nigeria 2 years ago, this is why most guys go to the Night-clubs. Where are all these people from talking about great ideas leading to everything. This is preposterous in Nigeria. Banks will not loan you jack if you do not have collateral!!! And you better watch out for the Banks themselves. They will steal your idea and go do it themselves. A particular big Bank in Nigeria is well known for doing that. If you guys really believe what you are saying then come help me raise $5.8 million for a great idea that will show each step of the way how there is security built in the finances each step of the way. It will also show that the product is in high demand and orders will be placed for at least 6 months worth of production by some companies.

The Nigerian business environment is more of a Dog-Eat-Dog one and if you don't have Capital or Collateral it is near impossible to grow. And then some people talk about starting small and growing slowly. This is a myth. Most successful business models in the United States start well funded with a huge growth expectation within a short period. This is what attracts venture capitalists who will buy into your business and provide the capital to get you where you want to go. Mom and Pop businesses tend to suck the rest of your life out of you. This however does not mean that investors do not want to see a track record, but most of our business principles in Nigeria are Archaic. If you look at the Major construction companies in Nigeria today, you wonder where they sprung out of to be doing the major projects that they have embarked on.

Personally, I would advice anyone who wants to get a Start-up going in Nigeria to have a clear idea of where his finances will come from before embarking on using a lot of his time pursuing the idea. My Man: Nigerians run all kind of games to steal people's ideas. Oh well, I have learned. Since moving back to Nigeria over 2-1/2 years ago, I have spent over 20 Million Naira traveling all over Nigeria to checkout opportunities and learning what's on the ground. I now better understand the workings of the country. One thing that i have learned is to get into an Industry that will minimize it's dependence on outside sources. This means that majority of it's resources have to be in-house. I have therefore decided to look into Natural resources and be only dependent on fuel to run the plant and machinery and other minimal needs that can be easily sourced. I have carefully developed a business plan that shows me exactly where to expect to be at each moment.

The product is very much in demand, and people are willing to sign purchase orders for 6 months worth of production or more. The cash-flow analysis shows that the EPS after taxes will be between 85%-115% in the first year of operations, if I raised capital by selling 34.5% of my stocks. This gives you an idea of the returns expected. With Plant expansion in the second year, the same stocks should bring an EPS of 120%-150%. It sounds crazy, but only in Naija!!! There is too much money out there floating to be made, and our products are always gougingly overpriced. It will even be more surprising to you if I disclosed that the financials are projected with a 20% discount price.

The cost of starting this off will be $5.8 Million, and it includes 3 months of working capital. Now, can you show proof of such capital, and I will show you a business plan that you will fall in love with. It was kind of funny reading through the responses and Krazyhorse's replies. Damola seemed a little too aggressive with high promises while some others didn't even sound like they could manage a hen coop. I am sure Krazyhorse is having fun watching these people salivate over ways to win him over to hand them their cash. I returned to Nigeria a little over 2 years ago from the United States after living there for over 25 years, and I have found the country interesting. It has taken me all of that time to recognize a business that I can get into with the least hassles of the Nigerian factor. One thing for sure is that corruption does not only belong in the public sector, but also very alive in the Private as well. I will suggest that you take your time returning and visit for like a month at a time. See for yourself that you even want to bring the money home to invest. It may take a while for you to get a grasp of the reality on the ground.

What if i told you that I could get you to Ijebu Ife from Lekki in less than 30 minutes no matter how traffic is. What if i told you that I could get you to Ikire in Oshun State in less than 45 minutes from Lekki. What if I told you that I can get you right below Abeokuta in Less than 1 hour from Unilag in less than an 1-1/2 hour, no matter what the traffic situation is. Will you believe me? Oh well, I never expected less fro (m someone who started his education at Sunnyfields and Tenderfoot (My Alma Mater). You see, the people who were raised well, and taught to appreciate their backgrounds will strive for excellence. I just wish I could have 30 minutes with Fashola to reveal my Master Plan for some parts of Lagos complete with Satellite Imagery. I had previously given up, and intended to go to a City like Calabar, which is unspoilt and help plan and build it into one that can contend with any American/European city. Fashola has caused me to rethink my plans to focus on Lagos. Man, he will love my insight to city planning (blatant self-promotion). But then, this is my hometown and YES WE CAN!!!!

Where are the big Nigerian Industrialists? Do they only believe in Oyinbo? There are many Nigerians with huge ideas and market strategies but cannot get funded. These guys who have gained much from the Country should feel a sense of responsibility towards sustaining growth. Nigeria is being left further behind, and the idea of only being concerned about one's personal growth is a travesty when you can reach out to bright minds to assist them in achieving their dreams.

We might do better if we start investing in infrastructure and research. We need more science funds and encouragement for innovators. Problem in Nigeria is that we get comfortable easily. Once we start to make or "steal" some money, we do not care about anything else. A young mechanical engineering student should have something to look forward to in the mining industry. He should be nurtured to think innovation and have the means of achieving it. It is unfortunate that we have many Nigerians teaching in the best schools all over the world, but once in Nigeria, a White laborer will get more respect than he can with the many Illiterates at the helm of power in Nigeria. It is every Nigerians responsibility to create a paradigm shift, and change this 'self-hate' model that permeates our country.

Femex, It is indeed saddening that Nigeria has turned out as it is today. Considering that we started (Independence) about the same time Singapore did, we have to realize there is something fundamentally wrong with the general state of mind in Nigeria. The rich do not seem to care about the poor, and the poor are actually their own worst enemies. A poor guys steals food in the market, and he is lynched. But the same poor are happy to be associated or seen with the people stealing them dry. They hail them and will die for them in political campaigns.

We should all do everything we can to create jobs, so people can begin to get their dignity back. It is my goal by God's grace to create at least 1000 jobs in the next 3 years. We should all invest in redeeming a Nation that is currently on the verge of being a failed State in the world community.

When I asked what the heck the debits were, I was told that they were transactions that were posted after 3 months. This is a damn lie, and I have met and requested many times for them to show me any kind of proof to no avail. These Banks steal from people. I have notified some friends in the Senate and the House for a probe, and they have asked me to officially submit my complaint. It will be nice if we can all get together and present these issues to our legislators. It is more widespread than you can imagine, and when you make transactions that do not complete, your account still gets debited. In 26 years of using ATMs in America, I never once had this problem, and if I did, it was corrected immediately upon notifying my Bank.

Ecobank took over 7 months of their so-called investigation to come back and tell me the same thing without any documentation to prove. Meanwhile, I have not talked to Interswitch, which reflected my account correctly until Ecobank stole my money with "Transaction reversals". Anybody with a little sense will realize that a "transaction reversal means a credit to your account, and not a debit. I believe that some previous transactions that I had queried made interswitch credit my account, which ecoBank then stole. This means I was debited twice for bad transactions.

That could be a very hard question to answer. My experience since returning to Nigeria, after 26 years in the U.S. seems to imply that most Nigerian companies are run mob style. As we can all openly see, our legislators are fighting arms and teeth to prevent the freedom of information bill from passing. But here are a few hints: If it's a major company being run at the level of International Corporations, then they will probably have information on their website. If the company is registered in other countries like the USA or South Africa, then you may try the equivalence of the SEC in the United States. SEC is the Securities and exchange commission, which has a website. You will find publicly listed company finances there. Note that companies have to provide accurate information in their filings or else, they will be heavily sanctioned. Do we have any checks and balances in Nigeria that can be trusted?

Hunger could be the best intellectual motivator, especially in Nigeria where many find it hard to get 2 meals a day. Any other suggestions?

One thing for sure is that Dangote is very humble. I never guessed he was that rich the few times I met him in Atlanta. i suspect dude stole my girlfriend though. lol
