Adisaowallla: Lukaku was useless for us...
Like Afrodoc said ... anybody who wants to continue creaming his pants about jambody - there is an inter Milan thread on the sports section Since the EPL started, I don’t think anyone has lamented the sale of Lukaku on this board neither have I seen anyone brought up Lukaku when discussing issues about the club. My post yesterday was simple n clear enough. “Watching my Lukaku” should not trigger anybody. I never castigated or criticized Ole for selling Lukaku, I only criticized him for selling without replacement and since the season started, I don’t think I have used Lukaku as a reference point for whatever the club is going through. You don’t like Lukaku, that’s fine but there are some that like him. Ronaldo is not in Man Utd anymore but we still have fans who watch his match and some even drop Alert here sometimes. The thread is long enough for anyone to discuss whatever they want to discuss. Cheers. |

He said it is possible as it has been done before (not NNPC) and it will help to seamlessly identify those that should get the offer. So have you done that yet? You can even write to NNPC themselves. |

Lana1: Well, i cant argue with that. But....Aguero, Mane and Sterling also averaged around 2 unsuccessful touches per game. So there's that.
Anyhow, what this pic even proves is that Rashford was the better player last season and the only edge Lukaku had over him was 2 goals.
Let's not forget Rashford played most of his games from the wings while Lukaku played more centrally While also ignoring that out of Lukaku 22 app, 10 was from the bench and while 6 out of 26 Rashford app was from the bench. Lukaku is better than Rashford as a striker. EOD. |

afrodoc2: Lol is it until Lukaku goes scoreless for the whole Serie A season before we can say selling him was a good move. So now he has scored 1 goal it was a mistake to sell him abi?
I said it here before his debut that the slow paced Serie A would actually favour him. His atrocious touch won’t matter as much over there. That league is a moi moi league anyway but that’s not to take away anything from Lukaku who I hope succeeds there.
He is no longer a United player so please his fans should spare us the Lukaku alerts. Well if you checked when I made the post, it was 5 mins after the match started and I didn’t post anything here again after that. Lukaku is gone and I don’t remember crying over his sale. The only thing I’m angry against is not buying a replacement and trusting Rashford to lead the line. And before I forget, Lukaku is a better striker than Rashford. |

eph12: His pass accuracy is even 80+ on the average, just 70+ on some few occasions. His number will even be better in a team like united. Is there a conspiracy to keep using Lingard? Someone that was on the pitch for almost one hour and attempted only 17 passes against a team that sat back. This is someone that is supposed to be the connection between the midfield and attack. How can the other two members of the midfield be averaging 50+ passes every match day and he is struggling to maintain 40+. Shame
Finally OGS is to be blamed jare for this nonsense jare I don’t even want to think about Lingard pls. I have been thinking about that possession report (whether it’s a rumor or it’s true) that made them not to bid for him and I just felt like hitting the scout head. The result was unfortunate, we had a couple of penalty decisions go against us, we lost a penalty. These things happen and it's bad luck but does not happen every time. This was not how it used to be. I have been around the game long enough to know that it's not every time we look for who to blame. Same reason I didn't blame Pogba for losing his penalty on Monday. These things happen and on another day, the result won't be the same Time is a revealer of all. We shall see how things unfold. |

eph12: We controlled the game but players weren't daring last season. You had a coach that will leave you out to dry in the press if you make a mistake, how do you want to go all out and try something? The team was playing like they are strangers, from defense to attack. They couldn't string passes, they didn't understand each other. There was already a feeling of two sides in the dressing room. The ones that would always get the stick vs the ones that could do no wrong.
You're an old timer here but have refused to see reason. Common sense should let us know that no coach will be pleased with this current team, definitely not OGS. But because he didn't say so in the press you are pissed at him. He gave young the captain and threw him to the bench. The same Rojo that they claim is in OGS plans is who is looking for another club. Jones and Smalling are no where near the first team. He doesn't say anything negative in the press, that's who he is but he is working behind the scene to effect the changes. This is only quantum physics to those that have sworn not to see reason.
He wants players but the club is weary of being taken advantage of. This project is a work in progress and will take some time. I'm pissed that we couldn't settle the RW and CM positions but we have to look carefully at what the club is doing and understand it.
The same Mourinho that said he was pleased with Lukaku performance at the left back position is who you want us to use as reference. He never criticized Lukaku, Smalling, Young, but was always on Pogba, Martial and Shaw case. Please he is gone, amen to that I don’t understand this one bit. So last season, we had a manager that didn’t allow them to enjoy themselves, what’s happening with the new manager then? Everyone knows Mou to be a loud mouthed idîots and I’m only using him as a reference today because while the fans were turning on him last season and supporting the players, I had maintained that these set of players are shite also and not just the manager needs to go but we need to get quality players in. If you think 2 players will make a difference in this team, the result is what you are seeing. One thing I want to get straight from you is this, who should we blame? The players or the manager or give them time to perfect this “style of play” as you pointed out in your other post. |

eph12: I said it here many times that Mourinho didn't play counter attacking style at United. He dominated games but lacked the players to break down defenses. I watched a lot of our matches to know that what we played wasn't counter attack.
That he loved counter attack is not entirely true. Against stronger teams, yeah, but then in a season, how many times do you play against stronger teams in the league? We never did under Mourinho, because 2-3 matches doesn't count for counter attacking Have you forgotten the arguments we had concerning this last season? The words we were hearing last season was “Mou is holding them back” “Mou is too defensive minded” “Mou is not allowing them to enjoy themselves”. It’s very painful I’m not too good with digging out post. Even the Maguire we bought this season, I remember Mou going for him and the wailing that accompany it. Maybe postdigger can help. Any manager that look at that midfield and attack and feels comfortable deserve the sack. |

eph12: Mourinho had issues getting some players he wanted, is it OGS that you think is going to bring in everybody? Because he does not throw jabs and snide remarks during press conferences? Really? Almost all our fan base were saying Mou was the one holding the players back last season before he was sacked. During the closing stages of last season, it was clear these players are not going to change their shitty play, what should a reasonable coach do? Still trust the same set of players? Some were calling Ed out (which I agree because he’s incompetent) but Ole himself came out to say money is not the issue, we didn’t find the right kind of players we want in the TW. He believed in these players and he will be judged with what he does with them. I said he was a Yes man here and you guys almost lynch me. We’ll see how he will transform these players he so much believed him into world beaters. |

Was that not the season they lost out to Monaco in the champions league? City were shipping in goals not that they were finding it hard to score. They lost out to Monaco on away goal rule. City scored more than 100 goals in all competition that season. Shipping in goals was their issue and Pep fixed that the following season. |

eph12: Counter attack style has 70+ possession? This is new. The current players are suited for which style sef? There are games under Mou we had 70+ possession, it doesn’t mean Mou doesn’t love counter attacking. When you play bottom table teams, you are going to have lots of possession because they will cede possession to you, what you do with that possession is the thrust of the matter. Today is not the first time I have been lamenting about the players so I don’t know what you are saying. Maybe you should go and read my other posts and see where I’m coming from. |

eph12: I just don't get it. When pep came to England, his team will pass and pass and dominate games but will find it difficult to score. He even had to buy Jesus to replace a whole Aguero. This was a team that just won the league a year or so ago.
Pep won't do shit with the current players we have, especially in midfield and attack, but if the club can't go all out to get those players, there's nothing he can do. I'd he had remain in Bayern, he won't do more than winning the league every year which is a given for every Bayern coach. And that's because Bayern transfer policy is very strange. You don't see them going after expensive targets. He's having it good at City. He is probably the best coach right now, but he won't do shiit with some of the players some top teams parade The same City that scored 80 goals? One of the highest in the league that season? Say another lie please. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by larride(m): 9:48am On Aug 25, 2019 |
Leyqute: Don’t forget that this same Pep chop 4-0 for Everton hand before he got it right. Mancini City beat SAF 6 - 1. Does that mean Mancini is better than SAF. Even that year when Pep went trophyless, you could clearly see the way they were playing. They were not struggling to create chances, they create bucket load of chances, scored goals and concede as much as they scored. It was obvious the defense was the issue and the next season, he fixed that up. Now he has won the league back to back and will prolly do the 3 peat. Ole style of play is counter attacking, there’s no point trying to lie to ourselves that it isn’t. Go look at all the match we won under him and see how the goals came by. Counter attacking is not a bad style of play, but you must get the necessary players to execute the style of play and this is where the blame is on Ole. |

eph12: Yes! Players strong on the ball, not one that will roll over when nudged a little.
I can see what OGS is trying to implement, but just like Pep, he will have to bring in some certain kind of players and spend a lot of money. Not every player can do this. Rashford thrives in space, where he can run on to the ball. He won't get that kind of space against teams that sit back. OGS is too trusting and it will cost him What is he trying to implement? Ole is a counter attack merchant. If there’s no space for counter attack, we are fûcked. Very simple. Don’t even mention Ole in the same sentence with Pep. |

Lana1: I honestly dont understand how difficult it can be to sell deadwoods and buy replacements. We have been parading the same useless shits since 2011.
This is why i always felt if we couldn't get forwards this summer, that we should have at least gotten midfielders including Fernandes. A good midfield would have gone a long way to cover the frailties of this team. Just look at Liverpool's middle 3. They know how to effectively work as a unit to press the other team and also to cover their own defence. This gives their forwards and full backs the freedom to wreck havoc on the opposing team.
But at United, our own midfielders cant even recycle possession and pass among themselves talk less of protecting the defence.
Lazy mofos. In what looks like the inevitable sack of OGS, they should sha sack some of these players join.
As for the yoot, is it not better to play Gomes than to play Lingard, seeing as we no get any other choice. If you are good enough, then you are old enough.
And as for OGS, one of these days, we are all going to have a dialogue about how useless we are against defensive teams. Coz once you remove our ability to press and run behind the opposing team's defence, we become very useless. Spot on. I have called Ole tactics into question several times last season, for the kind of system he wants to adopt, he needs to look beyond pacy players and look for players that combine pace with good football brain. I will blame Ole for a lot of things but I can never blame him for the players inability to string passes together neither will I blame him for DDG howlers. These guys are professional footballers ffs, i don’t believe the coach will have to start teaching them how to pass around and create chances. It is the same thing I was complaining about with Mou last season. Some of the players we parade are not good enough or some of them are just lackadaisical towards getting results on the pitch. Nothing Rashford or Lingard and to some extent Martial can do to make me trust them. My trust in DDG is slowly eroding away also. Whoever advised Ole that we did not need reinforcements in the middle of the park or another striker must really hate the club. It is going to be a long season. Can Ole turn this around? For his sake, I pray he does. |

So, again, he applied 2018 and was still shortlisted, i knew because we could all see the list online....then i met him ealry this year, when they had not gone for the 2018 training, and asked him what happened that he didnt make it to the final in 2017.
He said "Dont mind those people, see that list you saw the shortlisted candiates was just for the public. You can't imagine they brought in more guys outside the shortlisted list and most of those guys made it to the final.
But he also has a strong man too, just maybe the man was not "strong enough" to make him get to the final, but just to be enlisted for the training.
I was confused and amazed at the same time, but i still didnt get it until, i left Osogbo and got back to my place. Having informed someone who i know, like a big uncle (In Navy), about my application and that my name was not on the list. He became worried and was assuring me something could be done.. ..after i saw the list myself and my name was not there o.
I guess he could not help it. But again, during my IT at one of the Naval bases, i met a very good woman, she was like a secretary to the Oga.
