omonnakoda:
This is just wrong . Public officials should not be subject to a private moral code. Is there any written rules that have been broken.

Secondly i frown at governors having power to suspend local government chairmen who are elected. We need to mature our democracy.
One may not agree with what the Vice Chairman did but is there any rule against it? That is the crucial issue for public life .It should be based on RULES. He can apply this morals to his commissioners but not elected officials that is unacceptable, besides he said he "heard" .This man has shown himself to be impulsive and those advocating him for VP or more should note. People who act on emotions or sentiments aare not fit for high office. What will he do if anyone smiles too much at his "yellow" pawpaw?
Hello Sir,
Permit me to have a rejoinder to you.

Like they say, "The LAW is an Azz".... and if you are smart enough, you can actually make an Azz of it and get away with Murder.

But there is a Law from which all other laws in the Nigerian Constitution are derived from, called the "Common Law", which itself is derived from "Moral Codes" contained in our "Native Law and Customs".
Thus, Osho is applying the "Common Law" here, and it is all based on the "moral code" that is "acceptable and applicable" in our cultural environment, by the same people he presides over.

Let me also point out that he did not REMOVE the man, he simply suspended him, giving him the opportunity to address the Panel, prove his innocence or otherwise and be returned to office or removed.
That l think is fair enough. I am sure if you are the fella that died, how would you feel, battling for your life, while your Vice (who is supposed to be your "eyes and ears"wink is plotting your removal to the extent of sponsoring riots?
Some acts are just too inhuman, repulsive and degrading to be allowed to pass unchecked.
It will be a display of "complete lack of integrity and trust" on the part of the suspended man, if the allegation turns out to be true

As to acting impulsively, it is not a good attribute of a leader, it is just on step away from despotism and tyranny but in this case, Osho did not act impulsively, going by the "lengthy explanations" he gave, showing that it was a well reasoned and thought-out step he took, ...... in "good conscience".

Thank you.

oshio baba the way you are handling this state as if its your private property....... Wjy didnt you invistegate before swering him in....
Relax and dont be too eager to criticize!

For one, the Constitution mandates him to swear-in the Vice, once the substantive LGA Chairman is dead.
He cannot wait and MUST NOT WAIT for investigation to be started and finished.
In that, Osho-Baba has followed the law, to the letter. (recall he said "I was pained to do what l did, but that is the law).

Secondly, it is still an allegation and the suspended man might be proved innocent!
By "suspension", as opposed to "outright deposition" (removal), Osho-Baba is also obeying the law of natural Justice.
All are assumed to be innocent until proven guilty!
Even if we are almost (99%) sure of what the man did, we must give him the benefit of a "fair hearing", which is what the Panel will do.
In this again, l think Osho-Baba is fair.

Finally, if the allegation is found to be true, l think the man should then be removed so as to serve as a "moral lesson" to others, something that is gradually becoming extinct in our Nation, that yo dont get overzealous and too greedy for material things.
If God says you will be there, with hardwork and patience, you will get there eventually, at God's appointed time .... and you will succeed.

Gov. Fashola is an example of this Patience and Hardwork.
Jimi Agbaje is an example of that "anxiousness and greed". Where is he today? I cant remember! undecided

Cheers.....

I've always said the SUBSIDY was a SCAM! Same as the current Electricity Regime

Below was my last post in respect of the matter, (in response to another person that is rooting for the Subsidy "removal"wink:

https://www.nairaland.com/2335043/gtb-close-all-branches-1pm/3#34068636

Built2last:
I am not surprised at all, it has been at the heart of GEJ to remove subsidy...1/4 of our annual budget goes into subsidy the suffering is much but this may make GMB consider removing it more seriously.

We are in for a long thing. I know GMB will not pay any bloody marketer a dime.
He will first scrutinise all documents before him, then, take best decision.

The common man will suffer this more.

Civil servants
Okada riders
Keke riders
Women who grind things in the market.

Let it be known to over 2millions nairalanders that I @Built2last support the removal of the Subsidy..GMB, please remove subsidy..fuel is so scarce that no body remembers that official price is 87 naira...abeg remove it..even my 3 year old son now knows the word subsidy...
Lastpage: You are equating unending "Price Increase",..... with "Subsidy removal"! grin grin

The two are different and l will do the explaining... once.

In the name of "subsidy removal", OBJ's government INCREASED the price of fuel Nine times (9) in his eight years of governance.
Each time there was an increase, the same "reason/excuse" that was given is SUBSIDY REMOVAL! (just as you are still singing in 2015!)

Now ask yourself, how much is the real cost of a litre of Petrol (production, refinement, transportation costs, e.t.c), that such increases NEVER get rid of this evil called "subsidy"?

For example, if the total cost of production was #50, to get the fuel to the Petrol Station, and you are selling it to Nigerians at #87, you are making profit and to talk of "subsidy" at that point is CRIMINAL.
Remember Jonathan himself said something about "CABALS" who make money of this fuel Subsidy problems?

The bottom line is that we are paying way too much above the cost of production, for the Petrol ALREADY hence when people say there is no subsidy, this is what they are referring to. Buhari knows this as well

Now, successive Govts, including Good Badluck Jonathan, have invested in "Private Refineries" outside Nigeria and these "Cabals" steal our Crude Oil, take it to their "private Refinery" to refine and bring it back to Nigeria.... and want a higher price for it!
That is "SUBSIDY"! That is why they ensured that our own Refineries will NEVER workundecided undecided
Same goes for "Generator Importers" and the PHCN (Nepa) problem we have. wink

A second group of these CABALS, simply steal our already REFINED products (or underpay NNPC for it), load it on ships and sail on the Atlantic ocean for a few minutes, DO A U-TURN and call such fuel "imported fuel".... thereby "qualified" for "SUBSIDY"!
shocked shocked shocked

These my friends are the issues Nigerian face!
SUBSIDY IS A SCAM by the CABALS. There is "nothing" to remove! Infact, Nigerians are owed a refund.... or are we the only country producing oil, why is venezuela not selling at such exorbitant rate to its citizens?

But then, who will see "awoof" money and would not claim it?
It is the duty of the Government, the President being its commander, to STOP these FRAUD.

I hope Buhari will be "ready and able" to JAIL these Criminals (being that this is a civilian Govt that does not rule by decrees!).

Anyone is free to deliberately or ignorantly wallow is self-deceit (mostly for "tribal and illiteracy" reasons) but no one can pretend not to know the TRUTH NOW.

You cannot remove what was NOT THERE from the beginning!

Its just a SCAM.

I once accidently bumped into Mrs Fashola. That was February 14th 2011 when I visited the city mall, Lagos with my family. Getting there we made for the gift shop. It was a small space for the number of people milling around. As I tried to maneuver my way I bumped against a lady who shifted quite positively against my momentum. It was an embarrassing moment but I apologized immediately. Then my wife whispered Mrs Fashola and oh my goodness I was about getting effusive with my apologies but her attention was now diverted. Just looking around again I saw the man himself. Fashola was dressed very simply in jean, shirt and sandals playing and snapping pictures with everyone around especially the kids. I shook hands with this great man, and took pictures too. My own Children also joined in the photo shots while we looked on. I taught this great man showed a lot of simplicity despite his brilliance and position in society. Another take away for me was that the presence of his security details was unnoticed. They must have been around, concealed in mufti. This is one experience I will never forget.
Thanks for sharing this!

I have come to understand that 'No one is perfect' but even in our/your imperfection, if you tried and you are seen (by the masses) trying your best possible for the interest of the masses, the masses themselves will be come your number one security, accounting for about 70% of the danger you may face on a daily basis. The remaining danger will be from 'political opponents and bad-belle' folks.

I have met Fashola a few times and l can tell you that the man is down-to-earth.

I think l will also never forget when OBJ as President, came to Lagos and was going back to Abuja, the 3rd Mainland Bridge was closed from 7am, till like 5:30 pm when he passed! The Soldiers were just whipping people who tried to move out of line and get on with their business. I was "caught and stuck" in that Traffic throughout with no way of doing a U-turn. I am like: Is this necessary?

Cant forget the first time l saw British Prime Minister John Major in the early 2000's l think. He was in the Tube (Train) with all of us like ordinary passenger... until someone pointed him out to me and l am like "Cheesux!", can our own leaders do this? His Security details were around but l just couldn't fish them out individually.

The best way to know a wicked leader is to see how his security details maltreat supposedly admirers and constituent members, in an effort to shield him away from the evil he has sowed. grin undecided

"The Guilty are always afraid but the righteous will enjoy their days in peace".

I suspect Buhari too is such a 'crowd man', having met him in 2010 and twice in early 2014, ....long before he got elected as Presido.
Work hard for your citizens and you wouldn't have to worry that much when you are in their midst.

He was a talkative , maligning our president to score cheap points before GMB for political post.
Now that he has got what he wants I hope he is happy.

He was also playing to the gallery using the press and internet to blow his achievements out of proportion.

He wasted money needlessly on the light rail project instead of developing the waterways..
He also wasted money on the useless eko Atlantic project instead of developing the surplus wasteland in Ikorodu, badagry and Lagos.

He closed down shops wantonly just to prove he is in power.

Jakande still and will always remain the best until a real true visionary man comes to Lagos.

There many better than him in Lagos. He is a case of in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king.

Let Ambode step in for me to compare and contrast.

This is celebration of below average in a rich state like Lagos. We need CHANGE to vision and purpose not cosmetic projects that can't last the test of time. The BRT and lad bus I guess are almost dead no plan for continuity.
Shut-Up "Yoruba-hater"!

Anyone who does not see anything good in others, is most likely a lowlife!

*Fashola did not malign anyone but when you say "Stealing is NOT Corruption", you have maligned yourself. Gerrit? I guess it was fashola that made him lose the election as well, huh? Yorubas are ALWAYS willing to work with anyone from any Region, who is ready and able to elevate their thinking beyond "Ethnic and Tribal perfidy" that is the lot of peeps like you and the last administration!

*In this modern age, even Obama has joined Twitter ... and l wonder what you are doing on a Social Media like Nairaland if you so much hate Fashola using the same thing?

*Light Rail Project has its uses and advantages and that does not stop the next Govt from developing Waterways! I guess people like you are just "chronic complainants"!

* Maybe we should ask you whether Dubai wasted money on its "Flagship City" where you'all troop to, for Holidays. It is called "Vision".. with time, developement will get to Ikorodu afterall, Fashola just opened it up with an 6-Lane Express way from Ketu. wink

*When you open Shop anywhere, anyhow, it behoves a responsible Govt to knock it down. Go to London or Washington and open Kiosk all over the place and lets see what will happen. You are so used to slum that the slum cannot get out of you. Go back to your Village if you dont like Fashola's Lagos! wink

Fashola did not claim he is the best but it is his community who ascribed that to him. Ambode can be better but l know that Jakande did his best but did not build the type of Three Storey Building Schools that Fashola built. In all, both of them are worthy sons of Eko, showcase your own and lets see! undecided

I think people like you should become the Governor of your state or give advice to your Governor instead of spewing "bile" in form of useless criticism, that is neither useful nor needed.

Sorry, l hate it when some people quote a "ten page" paragraph, just to reply a poster, its a waste of bandwidth hence my decision to quote only the part of your post l want to respond to, brilliant post though!

Now, on the 4th Mainland Bridge, l think you are wrong.

IMO, l think it is a project that needs IMMEDIATE COnstruction and Completion:

1.) EKO Atlantic City is not for the poor masses who make up over 95% of the State's population. These 95% over still need somewhere to live, ways to commute to work and back

2.) The Lagos Mainland and the Island/Ikoyi/Lekki are very congested and land-locked hence the only area for "cheap land" expansion is in the hinterlands of Ikorodu, Epe and/or Badagry, e.t.c

3.) Ikorodu and Epe are actually going to be the source of "manpower' and white collar job workers who will power the EAC on a daily basis. It is not likely that someone will commute from Egbeda or Alakuko, to work in the EAC;.....
..... though it is "possible" but it will be at a "comparatively" heavier cost.
The Cheaper and sensibly-likely option is to live as closest as possible, to where you work or at least in a way that you experience less stress and less cost, going to work daily.

4.) With the above in mind, l think depending on only the "revamped" but still very narrow "Lagos-Ikorodu road", for these hoard of workers to commute to the Island/EAC is just not sensible.
I have done that journey a few times and l know its an "extreme waste" of "manpower and resources". Health-wise, its a killer!

5.) I also have looked at the option of Ferry Services along that axis but that is still in its infancy and better left to private investors for now.

Thus, the only "viable option" left, to MAXIMISE AND SUSTAIN the possible benefits of the EAC is to ensure there is a viable, free, rapid and cheap means of commuting between the "source of labor/manpower" (Epe, Ikorodu and environs) AND THE DESTINATION CITY (EAC) .

This is where the 4th Mainland bridge comes in.

6.) It has the power to open-up and enhance the value of these "border areas" at a very minimal cost.

7.) It has the ability to reduce pressure of "slums" forming in-and-around the model city as such folks can live afar but be easily accessible to the Model City.

8.) The Bridge is a very capital intensive project such that no PPP is ready to fund it or can even afford to do so and as such, Projects of this nature are "reserved" for the federal Govt with contribution from the State.
In light of the above, l think TODAY is the right opportunity for Lagosians and the APC to "cash-in" on their past efforts, to make the APC the ruling party at the centre.
If this opportunity is lost, it may take another 50years to come around again.
The Govt in Lagos must quickly push for the building of the 4th mainland Bridge TODAY, TODAY.

(I know "haters" who dont want well for the S/West will try to justify why it is not necessary though we know their real intention and their judgement is beclouded by their hate, so we can just ignore them) wink

9.) Finally, Constructing and completing the 4th mainland Bridge ASAP, will reduce the pressure, ensuing accidents/deaths and the Traffic gridlock, on the Onipanu-Anthony-Ojota-Ketu-Ikorodu Express road axis.

Peeps will spend less time in the vehicular traffic and hence become more productive, live longer with a balanced lifestyle and the bridge might implement a "very small token" as Toll-Fee (emphasis on very small) so as to recoup some of the cost and make money available for other projects.
As someone who was 'born and bred' in Lagos, l know "whatzup" on this matter of traffic congestion in that axis.

A healthy population is a Productive population!
Its a win-win situation for everyone and the EAC project especially.

These are the reasons why l think the 4th mainland Bridge should be the first and most prioritised project of Lagos State, from the Federal Govt.
Opportunity once lost may never be regained again.

Natural disasters like earthquakes and hurricanes cripples a countrys infrastructure thereby limiting a govts ability 2 provide basic services as power, fuel and transportation. Is it safe then 2 say that GEJ was a disaster, natural or otherwise?

So, when they bring electricity for 10mins in a day, and do that for that "minimum number of days", you should know these "Cabals" are taking us for a Ride!

The wanton "Evil and Corruption" in this our country makes me sick! sad

Will Buhari be able to do this?
Will Buhari fight on the "people's" behalf?

I will for now, give him the benefit of doubt since his past antecedents says and shows "HE Can" but under "failed democracy" like ours, l hope the "baggages" in the National Assembly will allow him to work for the progress of Nigeria and Nigerians.

SUBSIDY REMOVAL or nor, is a SCAM!

You are equating unending "Price Increase",..... with "Subsidy removal"! [/b] grin grin

I have always told people, I wonder how
Káshámù would survive Obasanjo's
Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, more so when
he is not covered by Tinubú's Anti-ballistic
Missile in the South-west. His matter became
more precarious when the OBJ and BAT decided
to work together.
Anyway, he really tried in the survival game.
However, he will pay dearly for failing in Pol 101
where you are taught that loyalty is the highest
currency (not dollars or pounds) and that 24
hours is a very long time in politics. His failed
attempt to do a u-turn by seeking Tinubu's
support after the elections became fatal! He was
one week late, Tinubu could possibly have been
less hostile to him while BAT was seriously
searching for maximum South West votes.
Unfortunately, the failed effort turned him
directly against GEJ who still have the potency
to score golden goals. Now, it's GEJ that is firing
Buruji.
The lesson is that people must learn moderation
in every thing. Those who took outlandish steps
in support of PDP are currently in the frying-pan
of Hurricane GEJ.

EFCC has resuscitated Fani Kayode case,
Kalejaye SAN has lost his practice licence, IGP
that tear-gassed National Assembly has been
sacked, Kashamu is to be loaded to US without

How are the mighty falling? My prayer this

our steps.

In this exam, we give you multiple options:

a) Destroy the work place
b.) Hide all the relevant documents
c) Prepare and submit a "hand over" note
d.) DO NOTHING!

Why is it that common "Handing Over Note" which even ordinary Clerks in Ministries and private companies do at "random", has become a monumental impossibility for Jonathan and his Ministers?

No amount of "hiding" can save Jonathan and his thieving Ministers, not even running abroad after May 29th

Its simple: It is criminal and treasonous to "sabotage a Government" and Buhari, after his swearing-in, should arrange for the ARREST of all ECONOMIC SABOTEURS of his Government, to be tried for TREASON. End of story.
